Poe normally didn't go out two nights in a row. In the kind of extra-curricular activities he participated in, it was better to maintain a low profile and not be predictable. Maybe not going out two nights in a row did make him predictable, but in any case, he was breaking that pattern. He just needed to get out. He had spent the entire day trying to come up with a poem that was any good, but ever since Rai had left his apartment and he had written down those five horrible words, he hadn't been able to write anything more. Poe knew that was a problem, especially since he had promised himself he'd write something every day that year. He was hoping that maybe if he could get the adrenaline pumping through him, he could clear the fog that was hovering over his words. He hadn't yet seen anyone do anything shady, but the night was still young and Poe was hopeful that he could find something to do by the time dawn came.

Karen was running fast, laughing a little maniacally as she did. She was in wild mode now, having put bossy busy Karen to bed an hour ago. She was in muggle London and had just stopped three guys who were closing in on a girl. She didn't use magic when in muggle vigilante mode, but she didn't need to. She used her own fists and did just fine.
The three men were chasing her now after she beat them down so the girl could get away. Now, she was running ahead. Just slow enough not to lose them, because where is the fun in that!?

Poe didn’t need to wait long for trouble to find him – or rather, for him to find trouble. As he had been slinking from alley to alley, looking for pickpockets or muggers or any other unsavory characters, he had seen a girl running past, followed by three men. This was just about the best situation that he could dream of, and Poe quickly joined in the chase, following behind the three men. It seemed like the girl at the front of the pack almost wanted to keep them on her tail, from her speed. Poe fell into step behind the pack following her, not wanting to overtake the chasers if they were part of some bigger scheme. He just hoped that the woman at the front realized there was another set of steps in the mix, ready to assist her if need be.

Karen finally started to slow, feigning exhaustion and the men started to catch up to her. She spun on her foot without even blinking and eye and lifted her leg high to kick the leader of the pack hard across the face. He stumbled back and she laughed, letting her foot down and putting her wait onto it in order to lean forward and shove guy number two aside-
Wait, their was a fourth bringing up the rear. "Welcome to the party, honey," she greeted, giving a short bow. This made guy number one think she was off guard and he charged, recovering from the kick in the face. She lifted an elbow and slammed it into his nose while using her other hand to punch his gut.
"Friend or foe?" she called to the new guy.

The girl in the front of the pack slowed down subtly, allowing both the pursuers and Poe to catch up to her. His suspicion that she was more than just a damsel in distress was confirmed when the woman kicked the leader of the trio in the face. Poe let out a loud bark of a laugh at that, which was when the pursuers realized he was behind them. Idiots. The woman at the front welcomed him to the party, and Poe smiled at her, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he did so. It felt good to smile, and good to be in the middle of a fight.
"Friend, I hope." Poe replied when asked if he was friend or foe. He then proceeded to punch one of the baddies in the face, and tried to make his way over towards the girl so they could fight side by side.

He claimed he was a friend and she beamed, "I hope so too!" she called, laughing more as he punched one of her attackers in the face. She proceeded to keep her fists up and her legs sharp as she fought her way toward him and he toward her. Soon enough they were right beside each other and she pressed her back into his and gave a nod in greeting, "Better not try anything funny, doll, otherwise I'll have to judo flip you," she warned, but she had already decided he was trust worthy, now, "duck!" she called, hoping he'd bend over so she could roll over his back to kick one of the men on the other side.

The woman seemed to be having just as much fun with this as Poe was, which was excellent. He liked it when he could help the world and have fun doing it, which was part of the reason he had headed down the not-so-legal path. There was less paperwork this way. "I'm never not funny!" He called back, quite enjoying the banter. When the woman commanded him to duck, Poe did so instinctively, allowing her to roll over his back and then using the momentum from his crouch to spring forward, landing a hard blow in the stomach on one of the lackeys, which sent the other man stumbling to the ground. One down, two to go.

Karen laughed again at his answer, and used the momentum from rolling over his back to launch at the other man. Once he was down, she stomped hard on his shoulder, and bent down to punch him in the face and knock him out. Now it was two down, one to go. She turned toward her new friend, and tossed him a winm before turning towards the third man with her fists up. "Care to try your luck?" she challenged him. It was two against one now and the man no doubt saw how they fought. Karen was vicious, and would bite hard if necessary.

Apparently while Poe had been punching someone in the stomach, his comrade had been punching someone in the face. Now there was only one baddie left, and he was already looking like he was ready to run. When the woman threatened him (or rather, asked if he wanted to try his luck), he had obviously had enough, and turned tail. Boring. Now that they were alone, though, Poe could focus on his new partner of sorts. "Hi." He said, extending his hand to shake so they could meet each other properly. Poe wasn't going to volunteer his name until the other person did, though.

The last guy bolted and Karen scoffed. She turned toward her partner in crime, so to say, and grinned at his offer and greeting. "Hi," she returned, shaking his hand firmly. She used her free hand to fish her glasses out of her jacket pocket and place them on her face. "That's better. I'm Karen. Or Kara, either works," she offered, smirking. She took her hand back and grabbed onto the cuff of her jacket, shrugging it onto her tighter, " let's bolt before they wake up. Can I walk you somewhere? " she offered, only half teasing.

The woman didn't seem all that pleased with the last guy's choice to leave, and Poe had to agree with her. Now he was hyped up and the fog was burning off his brain like it was a hot summer's day, and he didn't want to lose that clarity. The other vigilante had a nice handshake, Poe noted. He was a little surprised when she pulled out glasses to put on her face, but still kept a politely pleasant expression on his face. "Poet. Or Poe." He said, comfortable giving his name now that she had given his. It was funny, normally he insisted on being called Poe, but he actually wouldn't mind using his given name. Karen offered to walk him someplace, and Poe smirked. "I feel like I should be the one walking you somewhere." He said with a small chuckle. "But you're welcome to walk me home." It was only a handful of blocks, and he wouldn't mind a walk, especially if they ran into more to do.

He had a pleasant look about him, and she nodded as he gave his name. "Poet," she said with a short nod. "That's lovely, " she added, giggling a little. He smirked as she offered to walk him and she raised an eyebrow at his words about how he should have been the one offering to walk her. He chuckled and she bit her lip snickering a little as well. He said she was welcome to wal him home and she slowly shook her head, "or we could track down some more trouble....unless you had someone to get home to?" her voice lowered a little in question. Yes, she was flirting a bit and yes, other Karen would be angry in the morning.... Unless she didn't write about this in her journal...

Karen said that his name was beautiful, and Poe smiled at her. “I’ll give you three guesses as to what my job is.” Poe deadpanned. Most people didn’t consider poetry a job, so maybe Karen wouldn’t guess correctly, but still, it would be fun to see what she thought he would do. It was funny, now that he was out and about and there was something other than lethargy in his bones, Poe felt…good. Almost like he could forget about Rai. It probably wasn’t permanent, because when you loved someone, you couldn’t just shake it off, but like any other pain, it could be ignored if there was a sufficient distraction. “No one to go home to.” He said, voice getting a little tight at the implication. Oh, how he wished he did have someone. “So, let’s rustle up something interesting.” Poe said, trying to force his voice back into its previously chipper tone.

He claimed that she had three guesses to get what his job was, and she wrinkled her nose in concentration for a moment. "Let's see, probably... A supermodel?" She guessed, her eyes full of humor. "Or possibly... A ninja? Or, or," she grinned, as a silly idea came to her, ,a circus performer!" She knew that none of these were right, and she also knew that she had no idea if this person was a magical being or not like she was, but she had the impression that... He wasn't just a normal guy.
He answered her question, saying that he had no one to go home to. And she nodded. If she was in her more logical mode of herself, she would have easily figured out that there was something a little off about the way he answered. Something a little sad about it. But alas, this Karen wasn't much of a thinker. She was more of a doer. He suggested that they rustle up something interesting, and her mind zeroed in on that idea. "Great!" she said happily, glancing around the dark street a little bit and starting to walk. "Well, first of all, I should have you know that I don't do things... In the most conventional way," she started to explain.

Poe didn’t know why he had expected Karen to give him a serious answer to his guess the profession question, but the three jobs that she guessed were completely ridiculous. He was not attractive enough to be a supermodel, not slick enough to be a ninja, and not funny enough to be a clown. He was, however, angsty enough to be a poet. Poe grinned at Karen, and then winked at her. “Guess you’ll never know, doll.” He replied, borrowing her nickname for comedic effect.
Karen hadn’t noticed his melancholy when his thoughts turned to Rai, which was probably for the better. Sometimes talking about things helped, but other times, it was better just to do something distracting, and that had been working so far, so Poe wasn’t going to change tactics, especially if his conversation partner wasn’t interested in his love life. “What do you mean…in an unconventional way?” He asked. He could almost swear that she was saying she was a witch, but Poe didn’t want to blurt it out and explain to the Obliviators why he had told a Muggle about magic at nearly midnight, only a few blocks away from some beaten up thugs.
