He used the pet name she had used earlier, and she smirked. He was a pretty funny guy. And not a bad fighter either, both good perks to have in a late-night friend. Then, as she started to explain that she didn't do things in a conventional way, he asked her what she meant. She cleared her throat, trying to think of a way to say this without being extremely outright with it.
Well, she could always use an obliviaton spell if she needed to, but she preferred not to use those as much as possible. She always thought they were cruel and unusual, especially since she had memory issues herself. She didn't want to bring that on anyone else. "Let's just say," she turned toward him and raised an eyebrow "I consider myself to be a bit of a magician, you could say. Making things happen in... Magical ways?"

The conversation that they were having was dancing around what they really wanted to say. Poe had done enough dancing for his lifetime (or at least for this week), and this time he wanted to say what he meant. "I'm a wizard." He announced bluntly. "I used to be an Auror." Poe elaborated, in case Karen didn't believe him in his profession of being familiar with the magical world, or thought he meant it the funny, card trick kind of sense. He had half a mind to announce that he was an Animagus as well, but that wasn't relevant to the conversation. And it also made him think of Rai for absolutely no good reason, and avoiding thoughts of Rai was his prerogative. "What do you do?" Poe asked, suddenly curious if the two would have ever crossed paths before.

She was glad that he just came out and said it, it made her life a lot easier. She grinned, "an Auror! That's exciting! I'm in unspeakable," she announced. "It looks like we both work for the ministry. I've only been there for less than two years though, if you can't tell I'm American." Her accent would have already given her away, but it was still worth mentioning she thought. "And then at night I like to... Let loose a little you could say, let my more Wild Side come out. I wanted to be in law enforcement, but someone wouldn't let me," she rolled her eyes, expressing her annoyance towards her Alter Ego. Even though he had no idea what she was talking about.

Karen said that his work – well, ex-work, was exciting, and Poe smiled a little at her. She then announced that she worked for the Ministry, but not under the Department of Magical Law Enforcement umbrella, which surprised Poe, after the way she had been fighting earlier. Karen seemed a lot different now, though, more put-together, which was…interesting, but cool. “I could tell, but didn’t think it was worth mentioning.” Poe said with a shrug. He didn’t care where people were from – he cared where they were now. “I spent part of November and most of December in the States. New York.” He added, in case Karen cared. “Fun way of letting loose.” Poe commented. “I used to just fly a plane when he wanted to relax.” And Poe still did relax that way sometimes, but he liked punching people, too.

She chuckled as he said he could tell that she was American. It was pretty obvious. Then, he said he spent the end of the year in New York and she grinned, "New York is awesome! I'm from Chicago," she explained. He agreed that her nighttime escapades were a fun way of letting loose and she grinned, eyes wide, nodding. She could feel her other self wanting to talk to this guy, probably to make sure she didn't embarrass herself. But she didn't even know what she was doing! They couldn't 'watch' the other one do their thing. They were just kind of dormant. But for some reason the pull was really strong...
As Poe said he used to fly she stopped, closing her eyes tight and shaking her head. The less wild Karen came into the light, leaning her head from side to side. Her expression became much less animated and her posture more aligned. Her eyes widened and she caught her breath, turning toward him, "oh, hello. Sorry. Erh- you were saying something about flight?" WHO WAS THIS GUY SHE WAS TALKING TO!?

Poe smiled when Karen said that New York was awesome. “It was cool to see the city as a semi-permanent resident instead of just a tourist.” He admitted. And while he had no knowledge of Chicago beyond that it was another big city, Poe still nodded when Karen said that she was from there.
It seemed like all of a sudden, a spell had been cast on Karen. Poe looked around, to see if maybe one of their old friends had managed to drag themselves over and Imperius her, but no, it seemed the change was entirely organic…or at least as organic as that great of a change could be. She was standing different and her face looked different, too, and she seemed to be a little confused about what he had just said…strange. But it wasn’t really his place to ask. “I fly planes in my spare time.” He prodded gently. “In addition to all of this.”

He said it was nice to see New York as a resident, rather than a tourist and she nodded happily, but didn't get a chance to respond. He explained that he flies planes in addition to all of... this? What was this? And why hadn't she just let Kara handle it!? She groaned, "I'm sorry... did you... um," she didn't like to seem stupid or that she had no idea what was going on, considering she was one of the smartest people she knew, but moments like these made that happen. It. Was. The. Worst.
Then, she looked down at her knuckles. They were bruised. She glanced over at him, and he had slight marks of combat too. She nodded, "you're a fighter too," she deducted, then she cleared her throat and stopped walking for a moment. "I'm sorry, sir. I don't mean to frighten you, but it seems like I'm blacking out a bit," she explained, "I just hope she - I - didn't try to hurt you. Are you all right?"

The woman was really confused now, and Poe wished that he knew how to help, but considering he didn’t even know what was going on, that seemed unlikely. He just tried to stay as quiet as possible while she worked through whatever it was that she was working through. He listened to her deductions, nodding when she said that he was a fighter, too. Karen explained that she was blacking out a bit. Well, that wasn’t good. “Oh, no, you didn’t try to hurt me. We hurt some bad guys together.” Poe explained. “We were going to go hurt some more…but I don’t think you’re the type.” She definitely seemed quieter than she had just been a moment ago. “Does this sort of thing happen to you often?” Poe asked. He didn’t want to have to go to St. Mungo’s and have to explain the bloody knuckles, but if this was the first time Karen had experienced a blackout like this, it was probably for the better that they sought medical assistance. Maybe she had hit her head.
