Oscar had learned, too late, that there had been a fondue fountain at the Yule Ball. He felt cheated by the fact that its presence hadn't been announced, especially since fondue - the word, at least - was French. The Ball was technically over now, and when Oscar went to check where the fondue fountain had supposedly been, there was nothing there. But he wanted fondue. And there was one place he could be almost certain he would find the fountain: the kitchens. Oscar knew that Anna probably wanted to sleep, after the stress of having the press following them around all night, but he couldn't imagine going on an adventure like that without her, so he grabbed his girlfriend by the hand and tried to blend in with the crowd of Hufflepuffs and Slytherins that were descending to the basement. While everyone else was going in the general direction of the common rooms, though, Oscar had pulled him and Anna to the fruit bowl portrait, tickled the pear, and gone through the passage to the kitchens. Now there was just the matter of finding the fountain...

Anna had no idea what was going on when Oscar appeared and grabbed her hand, pulling her toward the dungeons. The night went perfectly. She honestly couldn't imagine things going better, but when it was over and everyone was headed back to their dormitories, her boyfriend appeared once more. She didn't know where he disappeared to, but she didn't mind either. She trusted him and knew that he'd come back. As he led her, Anna laughed quietly. What was he doing? She grinned when he pulled her to the entrance to the kitchens. Apparently he wasn't done with the night and Anna was happy with that. "So what are we doing here?" she asked with a smile as she waited to see what he had planned for her.

It only occurred to Oscar that he hadn’t told Anna where they were going or why until after they were there and she had asked her question. “There was a fondue fountain.” Oscar said, pulling them further into the kitchens. “I did not get any fondue, and I want some.” And they were going to find that fountain, and eat as much fondue as they wanted! Oscar didn’t care if he was sick for a week, he wanted fondue, and he wanted it now! The kitchens were a veritable labyrinth, but Oscar didn’t care how long it took them to find it. The fondue fountain was down there, somewhere. “Help me find it!” He told Anna, even though she was probably already doing that on her own. Oscar’s fatigue, combined with his slightly frantic desire to find the fondue, wasn’t actually the best for focusing enough to find the fountain, so he needed some help with that part of his master plan.

Anna followed Oscar further into the kitchens, smiling when he told her about the fondue fountain. "And you think they brought it here?" she teased, even as she started looking around herself for it. Honestly, she believed they would have brought it here as well, she just couldn't help but joke with Oscar a little. She laughed when he frantically asked her to help him find it. "Of course I'll help you. Now I want some too!" Which he obviously assumed correctly, or he wouldn't have brought her with him. Unless he just brought her because he wanted to spend time with her. Either way, she was going to look for that fountain. Still, the kitchens were a large place. If they were going to find it, they might need to look separately for a bit. She leaned up and kissed his cheek gently before pulling her hand from his. "We'll probably find it faster if we split up," she suggested, waiting to see how he reacted to that before leaving. If he didn't like the idea, she wasn't going to leave.

Oscar shrugged when Anna asked if he thought that they had brought the fondue fountain to the kitchens. “It created food. When you are done with food, you put it in the kitchen.” Oscar said. His mind was fuzzy with sleep, so he wasn’t sure that he was making sense, especially since his accent tended to get thicker when he was sleepy. When Anna agreed to help him, a smile pulled onto Oscar’s face. Even if she was only helping him because she also wanted fondue – which Oscar doubted, since Anna liked to help him – having two sets of eyes was better than one. Anna suggested splitting up, and Oscar shook his head. “I cannot focus enough to look for it.” He explained. “So you will have to do all the work while I distract you.” He teased. Oscar wasn’t sure why he would purposefully distract Anna, since he really wanted fondue, but he ended up accidentally distracting her (and she him) most of the time anyways.

Anna smiled at Oscar's logic. Okay, so it did make sense for the fondue fountain to be in here. Then he said that he didn't want to split up and that he was having a hard time focusing. "If you're too tired, we don't have to stay up," she told him softly, though she wasn't sure it if would work. She had no idea how much he wanted fondue. Then she laughed. "Oh really? And how are you planning on distracting me?" She asked as she looked around another corner for the fountain. No luck. She took his hand, pulling him along with her as she continued to search the vast kitchen area.

Anna said that if he was too tired, they didn’t have to stay up, and Oscar let out a gasp of shock. “There is no such thing as too tired for fondue!” The Beauxbatons boy protested. “Melted chocolate is superior to sleep.” He added, rather proud of himself for using the word ‘superior’ correctly. Speaking English every day was really beginning to have an effect on his skill level, if he did say so himself. When Anna asked how he was planning on distracting her, Oscar blinked down at her innocently. “Normally just standing here and looking pretty is enough.” He said, voice only slightly teasing – he was, after all, distractingly pretty. “But I can devise other ways of distracting you, as well.” Oscar added, leaning down to kiss Anna.

Anna laughed. This tired side of Oscar was definitely fun and she was enjoying it. "I'm glad we can agree on that," she told him with a smile. Even though she spent the majority of the ball with him, Anna didn't think she could possibly get tired of him. She laughed again when he said he was distracting enough just because of his looks. "Well I definitely can't argue with that," she teased him lightly. Then he bent down to kiss her and Anna was most definitely distracted. She stepped closer and kissed him back. "You can distract me like that all you want," she said when they broke apart. "Just don't be surprised if I don't find the fondue because you're so gifted at distracting me," Anna added with a teasing smirk. She didn't know what he would want more: to kiss her or to let her find the fondue. She was entirely content with either choice.

Oscar smiled when Anna said they could agree on fondue being better than sleep. “I think we can agree on more than that.” He said teasingly. He and Anna did agree on a lot, which was to be expected, since they were dating, and one generally didn’t date someone that they hated. Anna said that he could distract her all he wanted, and while Oscar desperately wanted to, he wanted to make sure that there were no cameras following them and possibly getting more than they bargained for. And he also wanted fondue. “Fondue, Anna!” Oscar repeated, to focus both of them. Melted chocolate was better than sleep, but jury was out as to whether or not it was better than kissing. The best possible ending would be if they ate the fondue and then kissed, because then they would have both melted chocolate and kissing, at the same time. “Come on, let’s go.” Oscar said, beginning to pull them to one side of the kitchen.

Anna laughed, "We'd better," she teased him back. Apparently being tired took away what was left of her filter, because she wasn't thinking through anything that she was saying. And she didn't mind it at all. At least, not when Oscar seemed to be enjoying himself so much as well. Anna was a little surprised when Oscar brought up the fondue once more, but she smiled and started looking around once more. "Alright, let's find the fondue then. Stop distracting me," she joked, looking back at him and winking at him to show it, just in case he couldn't tell in his tired state. Then he started pulling her to one side and she followed easily, her head swiveling from side to side as she searched for the fountain. "Why is this so hard?" she asked with a disbelieving laugh. Then she froze, her eyes narrowing as she looked a ways in front of them. "Is that it?" Anna pointed, willing to let Oscar take the lead if he wanted to.

Oscar smirked when Anna said that they could continue on their fondue search…As long as he stopped distracting her. “I will try.” He said, though his tone of voice implied that it definitely wasn’t a binding agreement. Oscar continued to wander after Anna, dragging his feet more and more with every step and hardly able to keep his eyes open, let alone look around for the fondue fountain. Anna asked why it was so hard, and Oscar immediately had an answer. “Because we are tired, and a little too…what is the word…” Oscar bit his lip. “Hyped? Jazzed? Excited?” The combination of jitters and tiredness was not a good one for focus, as he had been thinking for the entire however long he had been in the kitchens. Anna asked if something was it, and Oscar whipped his head to the side to look where she was pointing. “Yes!” He cheered, already pulling both of them towards the fondue fountain. It wasn’t in operation, but Oscar was sure that Anna could persuade someone to start it up again.

Anna laughed when Oscar said that he'd try to not distract her. If he really wanted fondue so much, it shouldn't be a problem, but she could never be sure with him. Sometimes he seemed to change his mind quite quickly. "How does tired work with being jazzed and excited?" she asked curiously. Sure, being tired would make it hard to find the fondue, but excited? Maybe it was just hard to explain in English. She laughed again when Oscar started pulling her toward the fondue fountain. "You're welcome," she teased with a smirk once they'd arrived. It wasn't working, so she looked around. "Can anyone help us with this?" she called, jumping slightly and bumping Oscar when a house elf popped up right in front of her. "How can I help you, Miss?" it asked. "Can you get this working for us? We didn't get to have any at the Ball and are craving some fondue." "Of course," the house elf set off working and Anna smiled over at Oscar, wondering how excited he'd be about it.

Oscar shrugged when Anna asked him a question about how being tired and excited worked together. If he wasn’t both of those things, he probably would have been able to formulate an answer for her, but now it seemed like nonverbal communication would be the best way for him to go. “Thank you.” He said belatedly, after Anna had already said he was welcome for leading them to the holy grail – or the holy fondue fountain, as the case may be. A house elf responded almost immediately to Anna’s call, and Oscar bounced on the balls of his feet when the house elf did whatever it was that was necessary to get the fountain starting. If it hadn’t been improper, Oscar would have squealed. “What do you want to start with?” Oscar asked as the house elves brought out a platter of dippable foods for them to use with the fondue.

They found it! A part of Anna was really surprised that their efforts had been successful, but now that it was in front of her and working, she was excited. "Fruit?" she wasn't really sure what else one put in chocolate fondue ... though you could probably do whatever you wanted. She grabbed strawberry and banana to start with, moaning softly when she put them in her mouth. "This was a fantastic idea, Oscar," she told him as she looked over to see what he was eating. She grabbed another strawberry, dipping it into the chocolate. "Are you happy now that you have your chocolate?" she teased with a wink.

Oscar wrinkled his nose when Anna suggested dipping fruit into chocolate. That was a great way to ruin a perfectly good fondue, in his opinion, so Oscar grabbed a handful of marshmallows off of the tray instead, chewing them happily after dipping them in chocolate. “I have those, sometimes.” Oscar said proudly when Anna complimented him on having a fantastic idea. His cheeks were bulging with marshmallows, though, so he wasn’t sure how clear his words had come out. Oscar swallowed before answering Anna’s question. “I am always happy when I am with you.” He said honestly. “…But I am much happier now that I have chocolate.” He admitted. Now that they had succeeded in their mission, though, Oscar could feel his eyelids begin to droop. His stomach was full, and he was pleasantly warm, and he was with the girl he loved…What more could a boy ask for?
