It was a Hogsmeade weekend. Georgie didn't know how exactly how to feel about this fact: she had missed Hogsmeade in November for her father's funeral, and she hadn't wanted to brave the crowds of the December trip, so it had been three months since she had gone to the village. It wasn't anything bad, but just...weird. Georgie knew she was going to have fun, especially since she was going with Louis, but it was strange to think that the last time she had visited Hogsmeade had been before the Champions were chosen, before Maxima had attempted suicide, and before her father had died in the line of duty. So much had changed, but Hogsmeade was going to be the same, and she wasn't sure how she felt about that. Georgie was bundled up tight to protect against the cold, but she was beginning to overheat a little waiting for Louis outside the entrance to the Gryffindor tower. He would be there soon, Georgie thought, and then she would be able to ignore her more melancholy thoughts in favor of the happy ones.

Louis was excited; it was January, it was 2024, it was a new year. He and Georgiana had seen a lot since the school year had started this past September, and that was being delicate. He hoped that the new year would bring an upswing of positive events in his girlfriends life, and that would start with an official date to Hogsmeade. Going over their relationship, they'd had dates of course around the castle, and Christmas had been with her mother and his parents. But a one-on-one date where he took her somewhere for food, or something hot to drink had not been a part of their repitoire just ye. Today, that was changing. Louis dressed well at least for his standards - he wore a nice green button down shirt and black jeans over his navy winter cloak. He wound his Gryffindor scarf around his neck as he exited the portrait hole, and was pleasantly surprised to find Georgie waiting for him. He pretended to look confused for a moment. "Oh jeez..this is awkward...I'm supposed to meet someone else..." he began awkwardly. He grinned widely and grabbed her into his arms, swinging her in a circle before planting a kiss on her lips. "Only joking," he said, taking her hand in his. "Shall we?" he asked. @georgiana

Georgie didn’t have to wait for long for Louis to come down from the Gryffindor common room. He looked rather dapper, in a nice button down and dark bottoms. Was she supposed to be dressed as formally? Georgie was bundled up, though, so even if she had tried to look nice, it probably all would have been obscured by her sweaters and layers of cloaks. Georgie punched Louis lightly in the arm when he said that he was supposed to be meeting with someone else. He swung her around, though, and she couldn’t help but smile and giggle at the sensation, and feel a little bubbly when he kissed her lips. “Don’t joke about that.” She said, bumping her shoulder against his. Louis was one of the only things that she had going for lately, especially since she and Lance had been taking turns trying to push the other away. “We shall.” Georgie replied. “I should have waited until we were in the entrance hall to put on all of this.” Georgie said as they began walking down the stairs. All of the physical exercise in tandem with the heavy layers was making her rather warm, and not in the nice way. Oh well. They’d be outside soon. “Do we have any plans for once we’re in the village, or are we just going to walk around?” Georgie asked. Louis seemed to have a few ideas about what they were going to do, and Georgie didn’t mind just coming along for the ride.

Louis simply beamed down at his girlfriend as she said to not joke about that. “I will joke about it because it will always only be a joke my daffodil,” he said, squeezing her shoulder lightly. “You do look rather bundled up like an eskimo,” he observed as they made their way down the many staircases of Hogwarts. He wondered if he had misjudged how cold it was outside, but then again Louis rarely got all that cold. He was hot-blooded, but not in the temper sort of sense, at least he didn’t think so. “No direct plans really, just figured we’d wander until we see something we simply have to do and then head to the Three Broomsticks when we need to warm up,” he told her.
They left the castle and set off, Louis’ arm around Georgie as they walked. It wasn’t frigidly cold, but Louis had more than one reason to keep his girlfriend close as they followed the other students down the path towards the quaint little village. They stepped onto the main street and Louis looked around, wondering what would catch his eye first. “Did I tell you about the time Fred and I went into Zonkos? I tripped on a wire on our way out and we were almost caught by the owner; we were sent in for some reconnaissance,” he asked her, laughing a little at the memory.

Georgie smiled back at Louis when he beamed down on her, insisting that it would only ever be a joke. That made sense, she supposed, though even things that made sense could be turned on their heads if one tried hard enough. “I think I’ve told you a thousand times, South Carolina winters aren’t like British winters.” Georgie teased, bumping her shoulder against Louis’s. Since she was so heavily padded, she doubted that he felt anything at all, but it was the thought behind the gesture that counted. Louis said that he didn’t have any plans for Hogsmeade, and that was just fine by Georgie. Plans were boring anyways. “I don’t think I can get cold under all these layers.” Georgie teased. She was proved wrong, however, when they exited the Great Hall and were greeted by a blast of frosty hair. She shivered a little at the change in temperature, but after the original shock, Georgie was relatively comfortable.
“I haven’t heard this story, no.” Georgie said as they walked. “I haven’t heard much about your family, actually.” She admitted. None of them were in Hufflepuff, so she had no direct line of contact to the Weasley clan. “Apart from what you’ve already told me, of course.” Georgie added, because Louis had told her a few stories, especially over the summer when she had stayed at Shell Cottage for a week. She just hadn’t heard this particular story.

Louis frowned for a moment when Georgie admitted she hadn’t heard all that much about her family, and then remembered why. The start of their relationship saw the return of her parents from the dead, a deterioration of her friendship with Maxima, then Max’s suicide attempt, then the real death of her father. Louis hadn’t minded making sure Georgie knew she could talk to him about this any time she needed to, but it had left little time to talk about his vastly expansive family. “Well, Fred took me into Zonkos’ to see if they had any new, competitive products that had similarities to Weasley Wizarding Wheezes. Obviously they are no match for us, but as we were leaving I tripped over a cord and I’m quite certain the owner recognized who we were. Luckily we got out of there rather fast.” Louis just laughed at the memory of that day.
As they continued to walk, he knew Georgie, who was not used to this kind of weather, would get cold soon. “Let’s go to that Madam Puddifoots place,” he suggested, taking her gloved hand in his. He led her into the little tea shop and they sat down at a table. Louis shed his layers and looked around interestedly. “You know, I think this is our real official first date out, you realize that?” he said, looking back at her and smiling.

Georgie listened, enamored by the story that Louis was telling. She couldn’t believe what he was telling her, and for a moment, Georgie lamented the fact that her family wasn’t nearly as big as the Weasley family. “Good thing neither of you look like Weasleys, or you would have been recognized immediately.” Georgie smirked. “…No offense.” She said when she realized how that could be construed. “Just that neither of you have the red hair and the freckles, you know?” She said, trying to explain herself, though Louis probably knew what she had meant already. What a Weasley looked like had changed quite a bit since Louis’s father’s generation – the Weasley cousins weren’t nearly as homogeneous as their forefathers had been. Off the top of her head, Georgie could only think of one of them who was a redhead, and that was Lily Potter. Once she thought about it longer, Georgie realized that Anna, the Hogwarts champion, was also a redhead, as was her twin sister. So she wasn’t that observant – whatever.
Louis suggested going to Madam Puddifoots, and Georgie nodded, too cold to think about protesting. When Louis took her hand, Georgie grabbed it tightly and squeezed once. She stopped dead in her tracks when Louis said this was their first official date out. “No, there was –” And she came up blank. “…Wow.” Georgie said. “We should go on dates more often.” It was hard to do in Hogwarts, but she was sure that between the two of them, they could think of something fun to do.

Louis laughed at Georgie’s comment. “Very true, we both take after our mothers more than our fathers,” he agreed easily. He could have stated the obvious, that Fred and Roxy’s mother was black and therefore her genetics came out dominant, but that seemed unimportant. The connection between siblings and cousins was far more valuable to him than anything else. “Lily, Anna and Lucy all seemed to have inherited the red hair and freckles. Dom...well sometimes her hair looks more red, but I’d say it’s somewhere between red and blonde, like Vic’s hair,” he told her. It was rather strange if he thought about it; for some reason red hair had been rather dominant in the Weasley clan, but he supposed with his mothers’ veela blood, that had been trumped over the red hair.
He couldn’t help but smile as Georgie tried to remember when they last went on a real date - and failed. “We should take turns designing dates, but you have to be open to some adventurous excursions,” he said mischievously. “I promise none of them will involve water,” he promised quickly after. He knew Georgie’s clairvoyance was triggered by contact with water, and if she could avoid that Louis figured a date would be more enjoyable. He glanced around the cafe casually as a waitress came over to take their order. “Hmm, this peppermint hot chocolate looks good, what do you think?” he decided, looking over at his girlfriend with a smile.

Louis said that he took more after his mother than his father, and Georgie bobbed her head in agreement. Both of her parents looked pretty similar – a least in coloration, if not bone structure – so she couldn’t say for sure which one she took more after. The fact that her memories of her father’s face were foggy didn’t help much. “I should talk to Dom more sometime.” Georgie mused. They had had one brief conversation when Georgie was staying at Shell Cottage, but Georgie hadn’t been able to ascertain much about the older girl, other than what was obvious already. From what Georgie had pieced together, from comments Louis had made and her own memories of the last year, Dominique had been close to one of the boys who had died in the April Fool’s Day attack, and while Georgie didn’t want to press for information or anything, offering to be a friend to her boyfriend’s sister didn’t sound like a bad idea.
“I am perfectly open to adventure, Louis Weasley!” Georgie exclaimed, somewhere between fake offended and real offended. Sometimes Louis tended forget that just because she wasn’t tumbling off trees and breaking bones she wasn’t reckless – just in her own special way. Georgie was always less adventurous at school so she wouldn’t make more work for the orphanage if she got in trouble, but she was the girl who had snuck out of the orphanage to get her brother’s lip pierced! She knew how to adventure. “As long as there’s no water, I’m game for anything.” And she would think of a few fun things herself, too. It was too bad that they were stuck in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade, unless they could get either of their parents to take them home for the weekend. When Louis suggested the peppermint hot chocolate, Georgie nodded enthusiastically. “Anything with the word hot in it works for me.” She said immediately.

Louis smiled at Georgie’s comment about his sister. “I think she’d like that, mind you she might grill you if this summer after you left was any indication,” he said with a laugh. He and his sisters had had an end of summer bonfire together, as was tradition, and Louis’s love like had been a rather scrutinized focus of the evening. He had even tried to turn the tables but alas, to no avail. It’s not like their lives weren’t interesting, but since Georgie had been a houseguest, she had been the hot topic of the evening. He supposed being the baby and only boy of the family had a lot to do with it as well.
Louis stuck his tongue out at Georgie’s next comment. “I know you are adventurous; you should really join me on some of these crazy antics. Since Zac broke a few ribs he just hasn’t been as active,” he said, sighing faux dramatically. Really, Louis had been itching for an adventure lately; it had been cold and snow had fallen, and he felt like a caged animal cooped up indoors all the time The peppermint hot chocolate he had ordered came out rather quickly and he cupped his hands around the warm mug. “I will settle for ice skating after, how do you feel about that?” he asked, taking a sip of the steaming liquid before setting the mug back down again.

Georgie gulped a little when Louis said that if they spoke again, Dominique might, in his words, grill her. She understood that it was difficult for people to accept their siblings dating anyone (she wasn’t exactly pleased with any romantic pursuits Lance may or may not have been having) but she still wasn’t optimistic about the sort of impression that she would make. Georgie knew Louis was close with his sisters, and if she upset Dominique or Victoire, or otherwise gave them a bad vibe, chances were her relationship with Louis wouldn’t last long after that. And Georgie really didn’t want to mess what she had with him.
“Next time you’re doing your crazy antics, you should drop me a line.” Georgie said. She wasn’t attached with Louis at the hip, so chances were she wasn’t around when he started getting into any trouble, since they had different schedules due to being in different years and houses. “Ice skating hardly counts as an adventure!” She protested. “And ice is frozen water.” She pointed out. Now that Georgie had adventure on the brain, she wanted to do something bigger than just ice skating. Like…build an igloo. Or a snow fort. Or something large and snow-made and possibly dangerous.

Louis grinned. “I’m the baby of the family and the only boy; its’ a sisters job to grill him on his relationships, and if the girl happens to be in their line of trajectory then all the better for them,” he told her, shaking his head and chuckling at the thought. He had never been so invasive on his own sisters’ romantic endeavors; Victoire had mainly been with Teddy throughout her life and he thought of the Lupin as his own brother, while Dominque had had Ethan and Finn, the former Louis had not gotten the pleasure of knowing before his untimely death and the latter he knew rather well and liked. Girls had a funny way about them though wanting to know the specific details; to Louis as long as his sisters were happy and not crying, then he was happy. Anyone who broke either of his sisters’ hearts though would have to deal with him directly.
Louis finished up his hot chocolate as Georgie declared ice skating wasn’t a real adventure, and if he was doing crazy antics to let her know. Oh, well if she was going to play that game, he’d be happy to bite the bait. “If you insist,” he said airily, then grinned. Tossing down money to pay for their hot chocolate, he stood up and extended his arm to Georgie. “Mademoiselle, adventure awaits us,” he said, pretending to be formal for just a moment as he led her outside. As they walked, the idea began to build up in Louis’ head; there was still plenty of snow on the ground from the weeks’ snowstorm, so his brain began to formulate a plan. “They won’t miss these for a bit,” he said, snatching the lids of rubbish bins from a nearby shop; mercifully the bins were rather empty but Louis would perform a cleaning spell before touching them. “Our destination is that hill up there,” he told her, pointing to the rather steep hill the Shrieking Shack sat near. “Our goal, ultimate sledding,” he finished, turn raised an eyebrow with a small smirk. “Good for adventure today?” he asked her jauntily.

Georgie nodded when Louis said that he was the baby of the family and the only boy; technically, she could fire back that she was the baby of the family, and the only girl, but her family situation and Louis’s were like night and day. She and Lance trusted each other not to make decisions that were too stupid…Or at least Georgie had recently, now that she was finally backing off of the whole ‘clingy’ thing. She wasn’t sure how much in Dominique or Victoire’s lines of trajectory she actually was, but eventually, she imagined she would run into one or the other of them. She was more comfortable with Dominique because of their previous conversation and the fact that she wasn’t a high-ranking Ministry official, but Georgie knew that if she were to meet Victoire, she’d probably be fine…Probably.
Her protests that ice skating wasn’t a real adventure hadn’t fallen on deaf ears, and Georgie grinned at Louis as he extended his arm to her. She took it happily, cocking her head to the side when he called her mademoiselle. “I don’t think I’ve ever asked, but do you actually speak French?” She inquired. She knew that Louis’s mother was French, so it wouldn’t be that shocking if he could speak the language, too. Louis grabbed the tops of rubbish bins, and Georgie raised her eyebrows. She liked the way this plan was going. Louis pointed to a hill that they would be sledding on, which was definitely steep enough for their purposes. “What makes sledding ultimate?” Georgie asked, half afraid of what the answer was going to be. They could set their sleds on fire or something – that would be fun. And dangerous. But she didn’t think that was what Louis had in mind. “Perfect for adventure.” Georgie agreed.

Louis grinned at her question. “Oui madamoiselle,” he said teasingly. He had always been closer to his mother than his father, and so he had been eager to learn French as a child so that she could speak to him in her native language. One of his favorite memories was a weekend trip for his eleventh birthday to the South of France, just he and his mum as Dom and Victoire had been at Hogwarts. They’d eaten French food, conversed with locals in France and just explored everywhere together. He liked family trips too, but this one had been...special.
“Ultimate sledding means you are not allowed to sit on your rear when you go down the hill,” he told her as they made their way up the incline. “Watch and observe,” he said once they reached the top. He tossed the rubbish bin top on the ground so the inside was facing up and jumped on, planting both feet firmly in the top. He scooted forward using his leg muscles, and gave a wild yell as he began to slide down the hill. He bent his knees a little, pretending to be a snowboarder but knowing he probably didn’t look nearly as cool before tumbling gently off the sled and rolling in the snow. “Your turn!” he called up to Georgie, his cheeks pink from cold and excitement.

Georgie ad been dating Louis for the better part of this school year, and she hadn’t even known that he was bilingual. Did that make her the worst girlfriend ever, or what? When they were done sledding, Georgie was definitely going to be bothering Louis to speak to her in French, because there was something about the language that was just so attractive to the ear. As if she didn’t have enough reasons to love Louis already.
Louis explained what ultimate sledding was as they walked up the slope, and Georgie nodded. There hadn’t ever been much snow in South Carolina, and never enough to sled, but when she had come to the orphanage in Britain, she had taken to sledding on her stomach. Technically, she could do that, and still be under Louis’s definition of ultimate sledding. She watched as he went down standing up, tucking and rolling at the end so he didn’t fall. She grinned. “Nice form, Weasley!” She called down the hill, right before he told her it was her turn. Georgie took her own garbage bin and placed it on the snow. She took a step or two back, and then launched herself at the bin to give herself enough momentum. The wind was knocked out of her when she did that, but hurtling down the hill face-first on her stomach was enough of a thrill that she didn’t really care. At the bottom of the hill, Georgie quickly began brushing snowflakes out of her hair so that they didn’t melt and touch her scalp. “Do you think you can do it on your hands?” She asked curiously. She wasn’t as gymnastically inclined as her boyfriend, so Georgie was sure if anyone could sled in a handstand, it was Louis.
