The Yule Ball was a huge, spectacular event that Asa had thought they'd never get to see. Ever since that day in Hogsmeeade, though, when Lucy had asked them to the ball and they had asked her to be their girlfriend, Asa had been thinking of the Ball almost all the time. It was in the back of their head when they translated document sin the orphanage and at the front of their mind when they wrote Lucy love letters, and someplace in between all the other times. Now that they were there, though, Asa found the entire thing just the slightest bit overwhelming. They had decided to take a break for a bit, and after informing Lucy of that fact, grabbed a goblet of pumpkin juice and slipped outside. At first Asa had been worried that they would be pegged as too old to be a student and interrogated about their presence at the Ball, but since the Ministry was there and Asa looked the part, dressed in a tuxedo, no one bothered them as they wandered around the gardens, sipping at pumpkin juice and trying to chase away some of the anxiety that came with large crowds.

Anna was having the time of her life at the Yule Ball. Spending so much time with Oscar was a dream. She loved dancing with him, talking with him, all of it. The fact that he was distracting her from all the reporters and photographers was proof of how much she was enjoying herself. However, it was getting really hot inside once more. If they were dancing, she would just tell him she wanted to go back outside, but they were in the middle of a conversation. Well, Oscar was. Anna didn't mind, but she did need to step out for a moment. She leaned over and whispered to Oscar that she'd be right back, she just needed some air. Then outside she went. She wandered outside for a bit, once more appreciating all the decorations. Then she saw a familiar figure and walked towards it, smiling when she realized she was right. "Hello Asa," she called as she approached. "How are you enjoying the Ball?" It was a common question, but Anna hoped they were having a good time with Lucy.

Asa wasn’t used to people in Hogwarts recognizing them. It wasn’t that they weren’t easy to recognize – there weren’t many other androgynous people around, after all – but rather that they rarely left an impression enough to be remembered after long. When they heard their name, Asa turned, and realized why, exactly, they were being recognized. It was Lucy’s sister. “Hello, Anna.” They returned the greeting with a small smile. “I’m having a wonderful time, thank you. It’s just a little…overwhelming.” Instantly, Asa felt silly for being overwhelmed. They weren’t being scrutinized by everyone in the crowd the same way Anna was – it just felt that way. “How are you enjoying it? You look wonderful, by the way.” Saying that earlier had been enough to make Lucy the slightest bit jealous, but Lucy wasn’t around at the moment and Anna deserved the compliment, so Asa didn’t hesitate to give it.

Anna smiled when Asa mentioned that they felt overwhelmed inside. "Yeah, I can understand that," she agreed. "I think part of it has to do with how many people are here. It's so hot inside," which was really the reason why she wanted to take a short break. So she could come outside and breathe without feeling so humid and hot. The nice thing was that she found someone to talk to while she did so. Her smile widened when they asked what she thought of the ball and complimented her. "Thank you," she told them immediately. "I'm really liking it. I was worried that something would happen during the Champion's Waltz, that I would trip or something, but it all worked out really well, so now I'm more relaxed." That was probably more than they wanted to know, but they asked, so Anna was going to answer them. "How is Lucy doing?" She asked. Anna hadn't seen her twin, but obviously she was here because Asa was and Anna knew that they wouldn't be here for anyone else.
