@dakota Mina didn’t care what her brother, or Ophelia for that matter (if she was even there), thought about her showing up at quarter to midnight on a Friday night. She definitely hadn’t meant to suddenly be there, but one thing lead to another and off she happened to skip away from her muggle friends that she had been with all night so far. They were done for the day, but she wasn’t, and someone needed to experience her fun with her. Drinking alone at a bar on a Friday night wasn’t a smart move in her mind, and almost always lead to regrets. Happily bobbing her head as she walked down the street towards Koda’s place, Mina was far from being sober. She hadn’t had too much to drink yet and the cold air was definitely helping straighten her up, which was totally a problem because she didn’t want to be able to think correctly right now. Having Saturdays off now meant Fridays could be spent doing the craziest things possible.
Sauntering up to the front door of her brother’s place, she hammered her hand down on it. It was quiet for a second, but a loud yelp from one of the dogs inside meant that Koda was still awake. Obviously he was, the lights were on. Bouncing on her toes lightly for a few seconds, Mina decided to sit down because that was easier than standing right now. She would need that energy for whatever went on later anyways, most likely stumbling home on her own once again. Letting out a deep sigh, she stared up into the night sky, trying to count the stars as best she could as she waited for Koda to open the door. Hopefully he wouldn’t be too mad that she was there. Being told to go home after coming all the way out here would suck.

a loud yelp startled koda out of the nap he'd fallen into while sitting on his couch working on quidditch plays. he rubbed his hands over his face as the papers that had been resting on his lap slipped onto the floor and he made to stand up. the only reason his dogs would be barking at that moment was if there was someone at the door. it was just him at his place tonight, ophelia was at her own place so he didn't think it was going to be someone for her. he looked at his watch and raised his brow at the time. he'd been asleep for a good two hours. he didn't often nap like that but he had been rather busy the last few weeks. he stretched as he made his way to the door and shooed his dogs away carefully before opening the door to reveal his sister standing on the doorstep. he grinned a little and leaned the side of his head against the door. "so my eyes deceive me or is that really my baby sister standing on the doorstep." he said as he stepped back to let her into the house. he could see she wasn't sober but she wasn't as drunk as he'd seem her before. "come in before darsha has a nervous breakdown." he said with a grin as the dog standing behind him practically quivered out of her coat in anticipation of seeing mina.

@dakota Mina blinked back the sleepiness that was coming over her as she sat on the front steps of her brother’s house. She couldn’t fall asleep now! There was fun to be had and the night was young, although she was sure her siblings would disagree with a statement like that. Fumbling in her pocket for her lighter and cigarettes, she figured it wouldn’t kill her to smoke while she waited. It was a bad habit she had been trying to kick, one that had virtually disappeared while she was traveling but had recently come back to deal with the stress of work, amongst other things. Cigarette dangling from her mouth, Koda opened the door the second she was about to light the thing. Stuffing them back in her jacket pocket she jumped up almost immediately, hugging her brother as best she could as she passed him in the doorway before falling on the ground in front of Darsha so she could grab the dog. Her own dog was going to be jealous that she visited without her in tow, but that’s what she got for not learning Mina’s commands while they were training.
“You’re always so excited to see me aren’t you Darsha?” Mina patted the dogs head a few times before standing back up to face her brother. “Is Ophelia here?” That was quite the direct question to ask, especially without any context added to it. Mina was actually trying to steal her brother to get a few quick drinks with him before he was swamped with baby duty for the next eternity. Being slightly tipsy still though, she only thought that reasoning through before blurting out her prior question. Upon realizing this, she continued, “Because you look like you could use a drink or three.”

koda chuckled and hugged mina back as she tried to accomplish the action as she stepped into the house. well he'd been right, she certainly wasn't sober. he watched her drop to the ground to be with darsha and he closed the door gently, watching as hawk came to join the party and stuck his nose into the middle of mina's back. he couldn't judge his little sister really, he'd spent plenty of time getting drunk and having fun in the last years. he'd just been a little more .. sensible about it. still it didn't matter to him as long as mina was okay, the second it became apparent that she wasn't then he'd try and talk sense to her. but with calisto on her case, he figured she didn't need another sibling doing it too. yet. “You’re always so excited to see me aren’t you Darsha?” there was no lie in that question. his dogs were always happy to see her, while slightly more reserved around certain other siblings of his. “Is Ophelia here?” he shook his head. he knew mina was probably still trying to come to grips with the situation but she seemed to be trying which he was glad of. "not tonight, she's at her own place." he said as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders. “Because you look like you could use a drink or three.” he laughed and squeezed her shoulders before dropping his arm. "i feel like i could use a drink or three." he said as he glanced down at the clothes he'd been lounging in. "give me a minute to change." he said as he walked up the staircase. "try not to spoil those two while i'm gone." he said, motioning to the dogs who had placed themselves by mina's feet.

@dakota As she patted Darsha on the head, Hawk seemed to want attention as well, approaching her from behind quietly. She always thought it was funny how the two dogs were completely different and yet still got along with each other. If she added another one to her family, Titania would probably lose it and be worse than she already was. Taking one arm off of Darsha, Mina contorted her body in a way that probably wasn’t feasible had she been sober. She wrapped Hawk up with said free arm, and pulled the other dog in to her body as well. This was the best. If only hers let her do this whenever she wanted to, not that the poor little dog had a chance against Mina in the first place. “You get hugs too Hawk.”
Noticing that Koda shook his head at the mention of Ophelia not being there, Mina felt a small smile form on her face. Good. That meant that she had her brother to herself finally. The last few times she had stopped by, Ophelia was either there or on her way back, and Callisto had tagged along a couple times as well. Now she could get him to pity her loneliness and go out and drink with her. The best part was that she didn’t even need the alcohol in her to wiggle this one through. That had been the initial goal of visiting Koda in the first place. The fact that Ophelia wasn’t here to stop it was even better. Agreeing that he could use a few drinks as well, Koda mentioned something about changing and not spoiling the dogs while he did so. “That’s too bad. I know she can’t really drink right now, but it would have been nice for her to join.” As he stepped out of the room, Mina threw her arms up in victory, immediately causing the dogs to jump on her, thinking she wanted to play. Falling over on the floor, she pulled them down to her so that she could give them scratches while she waited.

“That’s too bad. I know she can’t really drink right now, but it would have been nice for her to join.” he heard her talking as he walked up the stairs and he smiled as he moved into his room to change. he wasn't sure she'd been serious but it was nice that she was trying, even when she was already slightly more than tipsy. he knew what was happening at the moment had taken her for a six and she felt somewhat betrayed by it all, with ophelia being in his life it changed things, the way she could often act and how she had been in the past. it just changed things. he changed into some jeans and a white shirt, pulling a leather jacket over his shoulders as grabbed his wallet from the table beside his bed and he headed back down the stairs to where his sister was all but rolling around on the floor with his dogs. he chuckled at the sight and rolled his eyes slightly. "come on then." he said as he ruffled the fur on hawk's back before reaching to ruffle darsha's ears and he stepped to the door, waiting to see if mina needed help picking herself up. some might think he was crazy for allowing his little sister to go back out to drink while she was already intoxicated but it would be worse if he didn't. if he went with her he could keep an eye on her, if he'd said no there was every chance she'd go back out alone and that wasn't something he thought he could do. "drunkess awaits." he didn't plan on getting drunk though, a few drinks and some dancing would be fun though. it wouldn't be long before he wouldn't be able to do it, not that he was complaining about that, in fact he couldn't wait.

@dakota The licking from the dogs had its own sort of sobering effect on her; one that she was fine with because in a few minutes she was going to be off again and drinking with her brother. It had been a while since she had managed to rope him into doing anything remotely close to going out, between his two jobs and preparing for the baby. Now she had him for a few hours, finally, and without Ophelia to boot. Eventually stopping her rolling around, the dogs settled down slightly and decided to let her pet them for once without it being a wrestling match. A few seconds later, Koda came back downstairs and looked like he was ready to go, and that meant Mina needed to manage to pull herself to her feet so she could leave as well. If he hadn’t so readily agreed to go with her, she would have been content with laying on the floor with the dogs for the rest of the night, following a call to Callisto to let her know that she wasn’t going to be home, of course. Usually her sister wasn’t granted that peace of mind, but there were exceptions on occasion.
Struggling to stand to her feet with the dogs circling around her, Mina eventually managed the almost impossible and headed back towards the front door. “Where’d I put my shoes?” She asked, mainly to herself, as she glanced around the front entrance. Finally looking down, she laughed a little, realizing that she never took them off in the first place. “Silly me,” she said with another laugh, heading out the front door in the process. As she passed her brother, she patted him on the back. “Well what are you waiting for, come on! I’ve been waiting an eternity for Ophelia to poof away for a day or two.”

“Well what are you waiting for, come on! I’ve been waiting an eternity for Ophelia to poof away for a day or two.” he rolled his eyes and made sure to bite his tongue. he didn't want to say anything that might spoil the mood that mina was in. he felt like pointing out that his and ophelia's lives will be more connected than they were right now by the time the baby was born. no matter what happened she'd be part of his world for the rest of their lives. their child was going to make sure of that. he simply wrapped his arms around his sisters shoulder and made the choice to enjoy the time he was going to be able to spend with her tonight. he was lucky enough to live on the same street as a decent pub so that's where he was headed. somewhere that would hopefully be a little quiter than the night clubs and bars that he had spent plenty of time in as an adult. after finding a table he got them some drinks from the bar, taking them back to the table and setting mina's down in front of her. "here." he smiled as he sat in the seat across from her and sipped the glass of beer he'd ordered himself. he'd stay away from the hard liquor tonight. being magical and a werewolf had it's advantages, it took him a while to get drunk but he didn't feel like it tonight. "so am i going to wake up to find any news stories about you in the morning?" he said with a laugh, a round about way of asking how her night had been.

@dakota The walk to wherever they were going felt like forever. Mina wasn’t a fan of coming down from her buzz this early in the night, and the amount of alcohol she’d already put in herself wasn’t exactly being friendly. But she wasn’t tired yet, and that was the key in continuing on. And on. And on. Eventually they got to a bar or pub. She wasn’t really sure because she was recounting some crazy story of the last time her brother had found the time to hang out with her. Whether or not it wasn’t clouded by memory lapses wasn’t up to her decide, but Koda always seemed to just go along with it regardless. At least he wouldn’t tell her she was wrong about something like Callisto would. In some sense, it was good to have a little bit of both. Flopping into a seat at a table at the back, Koda returned with drinks. “Why thank you kind sir,” Mina giggled as she picked her glass up and observed it. Beer. That was fine for now. The start of the night had been liquor, and she was pretty sure it was easier to end the night this way. There was Saturday still, tomorrow night, which meant she could drink whatever she wanted to without repercussions. “Me? In the paper?” She laughed as she took a large gulp of her drink. That was what she needed. Gone were the worries that she was going to pass out before getting more alcohol in her. “No I’ve been good so far. My uh…normal friends decided they didn’t want to do anything tonight. So drinking alone it was!”

“Why thank you kind sir,” he took a sip of his drink and settled into a comfortable position on the chair he was sitting in. he found it surprisingly nice to be out of the house, even if it was late. since finding out about the baby, without thinking about it, he'd become more of a home body, going to work when he needed to and being at home sorting things out, sorting out a nursery and planning for the future. he'd brought a few books that had scared him if he was being honest but all in all he couldn't wait. then the big bonus was spending time with mina, he hadn't been able to keep a close eye on her the last few months but she was still alive, which was a good thing. maybe it meant that callisto would be able to stop riding her so much. “Me? In the paper?” he raised a brow and nodded his head, a smile spreading to his cheeks as he laughed. "yes you in the paper. don't pretend like it's not an option min." he took another swig of the drink. “No I’ve been good so far. My uh…normal friends decided they didn’t want to do anything tonight. So drinking alone it was!” he was glad to hear that. "no you aren't drinking alone." he teased as he raised his glass to clink it against hers. "but good, glad to see your behaving." he teased her again.

@dakota Mina took another large sip of her beer. She found that if she followed up the first one with another two or three sips right away, she got to the buzzy, cloudy-eyed feeling again. That was always a nice one because then she could chat away and laugh before coming back down again. Then it was rinse and repeat without getting too ridiculously drunk. Right now though she was just trying to soften the sobering up feelings. She didn’t need a headache before she went to bed. It was better to sleep all that nonsense off if possible. “Maybe a muggle paper for being drunk and disorderly.” She wrapped both hands around her mug, titling her head down to eyelevel with the beer, eying her brother through it. “Or like, soliciting myself. I’d be fine with either,” she shrugged. Sooner or later he was going to compare her to Sarah, which she most certainly was not like whether she was drunk or sober. Mina loved life and happiness. Her sister always seemed to want to stamp it out. Big difference there.
“Ha!” She laughed. “You’re right, I’m not drinking alone anymore. That’s really lonely you know, drinking alone. People always think something’s wrong with it.” Mina took a smaller sip this time. “But yeah. I’m good. Like always.” It was pretty difficult to get into trouble when she worked inside a bookstore all day. That was nothing like school, which had been her time to shine. Letting loose at night clubs and parties made up for most of that now, but it was never going to be the same. She barely noticed in her stupor that she sighed while thinking about that.

“Maybe a muggle paper for being drunk and disorderly. Or like, soliciting myself. I’d be fine with either,” koda couldn't help but breath his mouthful of drink and he coughed when his body stopped him from choking on it. he set his cup down and rested his forehead in his hand and he tried to breath again, while trying not to laugh. leave it to mina to try and kill him with laughter. it took a few moments but he could eventually draw in a breath and he shook his head slightly, wiping his knuckle over his eyes he looked at his sister. "stick with the drunk and disorderly. it's less jail time." he said with a grin as he braved another sip of his drink.
“Ha! You’re right, I’m not drinking alone anymore. That’s really lonely you know, drinking alone. People always think something’s wrong with it. But yeah. I’m good. Like always.” he was glad to hear her say she was good but there was something that made him wonder. he wasn't sure what but he just thought there was something she wasn't telling him. call it a big brother thing but he didn't want to pry her, after all if he pushed her to much she might decide to shut down completely and spend the rest of the night drinking and not really talking. "so how's the book store going? got any kids books there?" he asked, curious as to how she was liking work and whether it would be worth his while to go shopping for some books to fill the empty shelves of the nursery with.

@dakota Apparently selling her body was a tough idea for Koda to swallow. She wasn’t exactly sure why, considering Sarah probably did it. And she was supposed to be more responsible, having a kid and all. Whatever. That train wreck of a life wasn’t her problem. Not like he would be expected to take care of her nephew if bad things happened, seeing as she wasn’t even trusted on her own ninety-percent of the time. But his choking turned into a laugh and Mina joined in regardless. It was much easier to laugh at self-deprecation when she was drunk. Usually it was a tool to get people off her back. Laughing was good though. Whether it was with her or at her. She had gotten used to both of those. “Jail? Hasn’t happened yet,” Mina laughed again. “At least I don’t think it has…” That was a good question, now that she thought about it. There had been so many black-outs and hangovers that the number was almost immeasurable at this stage in life. If she had been arrested by muggle police at any point, she obviously got away without a problem.
The bookstore! She knew about that place! “It’s going,” she mumbled as she took another sip of her drink. Going meaning fine. She got her time off when she needed it, she wasn’t driven up the wall by the owner, and it was relatively quiet when there weren’t holidays or school terms. “Could be a little busier I guess. Not complaining though.” As for kid’s books…that was a harder question to answer. There were definitely fiction books there, she knew that much. But she couldn’t recall ever seeing a children’s section, unless it was intermingled with the other areas. “I don’t think so?” Now wasn’t really the best time to be thinking hard though. She had drinks to drink.

“Jail? Hasn’t happened yet, At least I don’t think it has…” he couldn't help but laugh again as she added the last part. he didn't ever think he'd had to bail her out of jail over the last few years and he was sure he'd have heard about it if calisto had had to front up the cash to get their sister out of jail so he assumed it was safe to think that she'd been on her best drunken behavior when she'd been black out drunk. so work was going well for her, he was glad of that, glad she'd found something she seemed to enjoy enough to keep working there. he knew his parents had been a little worried about her when she'd been growing up and even up until she'd left school and for good reason koda thought but she was going good. well he thought so anyway, she was keeping herself and her dog alive just fine and that was a win to him. "well you'll have to keep an eye out, you need to instill a love of books onto your niece." he said with a smile as he lifted his hand to order another drink, more than ready to continue drinking with his sister through the night.
-- ended.
