today had been a pretty awesome day. him and callie had spent the morning with blaise. his oddball child had wanted to go to the beach in the winter, not to swim but just to watch it. so that's what they'd done. gone to the beach in cold weather and eaten fish and chips after to warm up slightly and now he was spending the weekend with his grandparents before school started again. tucking his arm through callie's he smiled as they walked down the path to where he had planned a surprise for her. he'd wanted to take her on a date, just the two of them before their lives became about students and classes and the tournament again and the time they got to spend together became even more limited. "it's just around the corner." he said with a quick kiss to the side of her head as they rounded the bend to reveal a hot air balloon sitting in a field. there were some more behind it but the one they were going to use was the first one. it was a muggle past time but that didn't matter to him, he knew it didn't to callie either. entertainment was entertainment and this was going to be a great ride. it had stopped snowing but there was a blanket of it over the ground and he had planned for them to be in the air during sunset so it would be all the more special.

Calliope hadn’t blamed Blaise for wanting to go to the beach; every summer when she was growing up her mother would take her girls back to Greece and visit with family, and in her opinion nothing was better than a summer beach escape. Sure, it was a tad chilly outside and she had worn her warm jacket and boots, but to just watch the tide come in and out with the waves was a wonder within itself. They dropped Blaise off with Calex’s parents and then their party of three was down to two. “Still no hint of where you’re taking me?” Calliope asked with a small smile, leaning into him as she squeezed his arm lightly.
Soon they hard reached their destination, and Callie was rendered temporarily speechless. “Oh wow,” she breathed. She had never been in a hot air balloon before; she wasn’t afraid of heights but she’d never just gotten an opportunity to do it. She turned towards him, her eyes alight with excitement. Still speechless she reached up and kissed him on the cheek before tugging on his arm. “Let’s go before it leaves without us,” she said excitedly. Today was certainly going to be adventure.

“Oh wow," he took in the look of excitement on her face he couldn't help but widen his smile as a result. it was nice to know that he hadn't forgetten how to sweep someone off their feet in the years he'd hidden from the word. he leaned down as she kissed his cheek and he chuckled lightly. Let’s go before it leaves without us,” he shook his head a little and followed her when she tugged his arm. he didn't think it would leave without them, after all he was the one paying for it but he wasn't going to mention it. if he said that she might start to worry about cost and he didn't want that. "better not." he said with a laugh as they reached it, he saw the door to the basket open and he stood to the side, resting his hand on her lower back as she got inside and he followed suit. he wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed the side of her head lightly. "ready?"

Calliope hopped into the basket with ease and rested her hands on Calex’s. “Ready!” she said, sounding enthusiastic. Soon the balloon was lifting off and Callie couldn’t help but bounce on her toes a little. Soon they’d be able to see London and the surrounding countryside by the sky; when she was younger she had flown on planes of course, but after she passed her Apparition exam she had taken to using that license than the Muggle death trap, as her grandfather had referred to airplanes. She leaned back into Calex, not caring much that her hair was whipping around her face. After a few moments though, she turned to face him, partly to tie her hair up and partly to plant a kiss firmly on his lips. “So how long did you have this planned for?” she asked him with a smile. This didn’t seem to be the type of activity that could be planned on a whim, so she was curious how long hot air balloons needed ot be booked in advance.
