open ! <3 Mannix took a day trip to the apothecary in Diagon Alley. He needed to buy a few things to heal some of the creatures he had found. Not all of them were hurt, but even having extra as back up so he wasn't rushed in an emergency was his best bet. Not only that, but he needed to make some other things to actually capture the creatures in question, and the apothecary was the best place to start.
It was fairly early in the morning, so not many people were walking around, considering it was also a weekend. He assumed they were all sleeping on their day off, which he would do but Mannix felt like he never had a day off. Not that he minded, of course! Working was wonderful! Especially where he worked. Or more so, what he did. Grinning at the woman at the front and giving her a small wave, he grabbed a basket and began walking the aisles, looking for anything he would find useful.

Lately, Ophelia had been an early riser, which her family would find laughable. But her baby liked to knock her out around nine in the evening and wake her at six on the dot. It was a couple of hours before she had to be at work, so she decided to visit the Apothecary to browse for....well, she didn't know what exactly. She had been doing her lessons with Dakota, but they had not quite gotten to Potions and Apothecaric ingredients just yet. As she browed, her hand on her belly, she nearly bumped into someone quite familiar. "Mannix!" she exclaimed, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "We keep on bumping into each other, though for me it's rather hard not to bump into people these days," she said with a giggle. "How are you?" she asked him. @jill4

Mannix had placed a few things in his basket and went to turn. Bumping into the one and only Ophelia once more, his whole face brightened up even more! "Ophelia!" Laughing loudly, he began to blush after she kissed his cheek. That wasn't something Mannix would ever be able to feel unembarrassed by that. She was a girl, and a beautiful one at that! Her kissing him, even if it was just the cheek was a good feeling. "Oh, you look wonderful! And this baby bump!" He grinned, moving slightly to touch her belly, but deciding not to and instead putting his hand back in his pocket awkwardly. "I'm good, good of course. Just getting a few things here for my creatures! And what about you?"

Ophelia giggled as Mannix blushed; she would never get over how endearing she found her friends awkwardness, especially around women. She never really understood why he was so nervous and awkward around women; she supposed if he ever got over his nerves there'd definitely be someone out there who would want to go on those Magizoology adventures with him. "Oh you know, a little of this and a little of that," she said airily, patting her stomach. "He or she is getting quite big now, but they're not ready to come out yet. That's April." Ophelia looked around and sighed a little. "Honestly? I'm trying to pick out some different potion ingredients for Healing purposes, but I lost the list on my way over here somehow. Perhaps you can help me?" she asked, suddenly looking more hopeful.

He kept grinning as he listened to her speak. Mannix wasn't very well versed with pregnancy and babies, and he wasn't sure what Ophelia was and wasn't allowed to do or handle, but he was glad she was getting out and about. He had heard of many people having tons of issues while pregnant, but Ophelia looked quite healthy for how far along she was. "Oh April! About when do you think?" Mannix was born in February, but April was a nice month to be born, it was Spring time! One of his favorites! But all the seasons were his favorites. He perked up at her question and threw his hands up in the air. "Of course I can help you! What is it you're looking for?"

Ophelia smiled and patted her belly again. It was funny really, how often she was finding herself doing that. "April 5th is the official due date, but Caroline has said it could be before or after and not to worry if he or she is early or late," she told him proudly. She couldn't believe that in just three short months, she'd be a mother. A tiny art of her was sad; there would be no more nights out drinking, kissing random boys and girls for the fun of it, being free-spirited. Now she'd be responsible for this tiny little life. Whenever she felt like this though, she remembered a time when she quite frankly asked her own mother if being 'mummy' had hindered her free spirit at all. Her mother had chuckled, pulling her onto her lap, and reassuring her that any party, or protest was nothing compared to being the mother to her and Octavian. She had hoped, she said, that one day the of them would know that they should follow their dreams however silly they might be; that would be how she knew her job had been well done. She hoped her mother thought she was doing a good job, and knew she'd be there in spirit to guide her on this journey. "Sorry! I was in a bit of a reverie; I find myself thinking of my mum as I get closer to my due date if I'm honest," Ophelia admitted to Mannix, realizing it had been silent for quite a few moments. "I'm looking for the antidote ingredients for the common poison one," she told him, smiling. @jill4

"April's a good month." Mannix smiled proudly at Ophelia. His own birthday was in February, but if you asked Mannix, any month was good to have a baby. It was a baby! Who cared when it's birthday was?! And he knew that no matter what that baby would be loved and healthy. Mannix knew some babies came super early, super late, or just about right on time. He didn't speak with Ophelia enough to know when she might have the baby, but she did look wonderful for how far along she was.
He continued to smile at her with his teeth showing brightly as she had her silent reverie. He didn't mind, honestly. Mannix did that at times, also, so he understood. "You haven't got to apologize, Ophelia! It just gave me more time to watch your pretty face!" Laughing loudly, he slapped his knee at his compliment. Oh, he was so funny. She told him it was for the potion antidote, and Mannix nodded curtly. "Of course! Well over here, you've got your mistletoe berries. You also need some bezoars, the standard ingredient which I'm assuming you have? As well as unicorn horn."

Ophelia just beamed back at him. "Well thank you for saying my face is pretty, such a lovely compliment," she said with a giggle. Mannix started going on about the different ingredients and Ophelia had to really focus in order to keep up. "Er...." she said, then laughed sheepishly. "Let's go with the notion that I don't have any of these ingredients Mannix," she admitted. She hadn't bothered to look into what the ingredients storage held back at her place; she had just gotten the idea and flounced out before really concentrating on the details. She walked around with Mannix, picking up the ingredients as he listed them back to her. Her basket filled quickly and she shifted it to the other side of her body. "If it's a girl, Koda suggested naming her after my mother, Lydia," she told him, quite out of the blue. But it had been a name she had been thinking of for some time now, since before he had suggested it really. If their child was a daughter, she would want her mothers' legacy to be remembered in more than just Ophelia herself. "What about you? Do you have any names picked out for your future children?" she asked him. @jill4

Mannix grinned at her thanking him. She was beautiful and always had been, that wasn't of any question to Mannix. He was lucky to have kissed the girl once in his life and he'd be proud of that kiss forever. Mannix was even more thankful that Ophelia was still his friend and stuck around as long as she did. Even his own siblings were embarrassed by him, so it was shocking that she still bothered to be around him. He nodded at her comment on the ingredients and kept walking around, giving her some and watching as she grabbed her own. "I can carry the basket if you'd like." Mannix gestured to it, smiling. Ophelia spoke of the name they planned if their child was a girl, and Mannix's entire demeanor became excited. "Lydia is a beautiful name, and even more wonderful tribute, Ophelia. I love it." He turned the corner, looking up and down for the bezoars in all the small bottles. "Names? No, not at all. I think if I had a girlfriend I might."

Ophelia smiled and nodded, accepting Mannix’s offer to carry the basket for. “I should get used to carrying around a few pounds I suppose since I’ll be toting around a baby soon enough,” she told him patting her bump fondly. It was definitely something she was still getting used to, the idea of being a mother at just twenty-four years old. But every day the idea was growing on her and she was starting to feel excited for the birth of her and Dakota’s child. “Thank you for the compliment; I like to think my mum is looking down on me and is happy and proud of me so far,” Ophelia admitted, giggling a little as the baby kicked within her. “Oh, he or she is a bit active today!” she exclaimed. She reached out and took Mannix’s hand to place it on her belly. She paused for a few moments, moving his hand to where she thought the next kick might take place. She smiled widely as she got it right on target. “Isn’t that amazing?” she asked happily. @jill4

He grabbed the basket and shrugged at Ophelia. ”Oh, you don’t Ophelia! Trust me, you’ve got the baby inside of you now! That’s what I’d consider a few pounds. And now you’re just carrying extra. You can relax for a bit.” Mannix smiled. The baby would get bigger and bigger of course, but he knew from his mother’s pregnancies that they were hard and he’d do his best to make anything easier for her while he was around. Though his eyes widened brightly when she grabbed his hand and brought it towards his belly. He gasped slightly, her belly feeling much harder and stretched than his own. And each time the child kicked, he jumped slightly. How unusual! But beautiful! His look of shock turned into excitement and he giggled. ”It truly is! Absolutely wonderful, Ophelia!”

Ophelia smiled gratefully as Mannix simply waived off her concerns about carrying around the basket on her own. "That is fair, I haven't been able to see my feet the past few weeks with this beach ball," she admitted, laughing happily as she patted her stomach. While she had had some morning sickness during the first few months of her pregnancy (and indeed had been how she figured it out), her pregnant had otherwise gone quite smoothly. She knew that hers was a luckier pregnancy in that sense, and she attributed a lot of it to Kodas' gentle care of her over the past few months. "We're getting nurseries ready in both my place and his; I love my apartment so much and I have such a lovely-" Ophelia gasped, slapping a hand to her head. "Mannix you must forgive my pregnancy brain; your sister Clodagh is my new roommate!" she exclaimed, laughing a little at her own forgetfulness. @jill4

"Oh darling it is not a beach ball! It's a beautiful baby!" He waved Ophelia off. She truly looked wonderful! It's quite possible that her belly may look like a beach ball to her, but to him, she looked like a happy, glowing pregnant woman! And isn't that the best thing to look like? Coming from a man's point of view at least. He hoped that hadn't offended her any. Though, her next comment physically made Mannix's mouth drop. Clodagh is her roommate?! His little sister and his first kiss? How unusual! "Well by golly I'm shocked she hadn't told me herself! I just saw her the other day! That's fantastic, Ophelia!"

Ophelia couldn’t help but giggle at Mannix’s wave off. “I know, I know, but I haven’t seen my feet in a few weeks which is an incredibly strange sensation!” she exclaimed. Ophelia had never been stick thin or modelesque in her body time, but she had been somewhat fit with a little bit of pudge around her hips that for some reason never seemed to go away. She wondered if it was true what some of the mothers she had met in her birthing class said; it could take up to a year to get back to her normal body weight. Luckily, most of them said it took less if you were breastfeeding, which she of course planned on doing, so she supposed it couldn’t be all that bad. “Yes, Clo has been a great addition to my flat, we met up again while she was at St. Mungos, and she told me she didn’t have a place to live and my goodness, I couldn’t just turn her down! It just so happened that my old roommate moved back to Spain, so the timing was rather perfect,” she explained, her hands patting her stomach unconsciously. She was sure Mannix knew about Clo’s affliction, but she would certainly not speak of it in such a public setting. @jill4

Mannix smiled brightly at Ophelia. He himself was quite thin and lanky, and exceptionally tall. So he'd always been able to see his feet, but even though this beautiful girl currently couldn't, that wasn't a bad thing! She was growing a new life and had so much power that Mannix was incredibly happy with his old friend. Not only that but she looked phenomenal. There wasn't a thing that Mannix would say was unusual. "Unusual smusual, Ophelia Mae! You'll see those pretty little toes soon, and with a beautiful child in your lap to add to it." Mannix laughed loudly. Babies were the cutest! And he was getting older himself and had always wanted children of his own - especially coming from a larger family though as of this moment, he was contemplating adopting. "I'm sure you two will be the best of friends! I had just been at her place the other day, might have been a few weeks ago, I can't keep track. When did she move in with you? We had...discussed quite a bit so I'm not shocked she hadn't mentioned it."
