@fred <3 That was perfectly alright. Some people never knew who they really were, but eventually they learned to become that person and grow into themselves. Fred was still very young, there wasn’t any rush on being himself. But what worried Elias was that he wasn’t trying to be himself, he was trying to be someone else. Someone who was no longer living or with them spiritually, and it made Elias want to keep a closer eye on Fred. The real Elias Greyback? Hm…he supposed that really shouldn’t be a difficult question, but for some reason it was. Elias shrugged, smiling. ”I’m just me. I don’t act any different than who I really am…or do you mean my hobbies?” He could mean either, so he asked just to make sure.

Elias seemed a bit confused about his question as to who the real Elias Greyback was, and Fred took a moment to collect his thoughts. “Not just your hobbies. The bigger stuff. What makes you get out of bed in the morning? What do you want to do for the world before you leave it? What’s your biggest regret, your biggest fear?” It was a lot of heavy questions to be asking at once, and Fred hoped that Elias understood they weren’t all mandatory. But knowing even one of those things could tell him so much about who Elias was, not just as a Champion or a student or a whatever, but as a person. Fred had already answered one of the questions – what his biggest fear was – so it wasn’t too horrible to ask for a big answer in return, right? Even if Elias didn’t say anything, that would say something. Fred just wanted to know more. He craved Elias, his words and his thoughts and his everything. It was a new feeling, and Fred wanted to soak up every moment of it.

@fred <3 His eyes widened at all the questions Fred threw at him. They were hard ones, at least for Elias to answer. But not any that he couldn't think about or was afraid to answer. Who he was was who he was, and Fred wanted to know. "What makes me get out of the bed in the morning is my mother. I want to make her proud of me, and show her I'm nothing like the man who attacked her. And Maria, I have to be here to protect her." He wouldn't go into any more detail on that subject. "I don't know what I want to do for the world...but my biggest fear is seeing my father again. The first time I ever met him, he attacked me and bit me. It was my ninth birthday."

Fred had known that he was going to get big answers when he asked his questions – that was why he had asked them in the first place – but he was still a little blown away by Elias’s candor. He didn’t mince his words at all, talking about things like making his mother proud and being attacked as a kid, and Fred had to take a moment to process everything that had been said before he could speak. “…Damn.” He said, voice a little shaky, though the Gryffindor couldn’t imagine why. He had known that any kid with the last name of Greyback was going to have a less-than-stellar past, but being bitten by a werewolf at nine years old? That was rough. “I thought I had a chip on my shoulder, but I guess you do, too.” Proving he wasn’t his totally awesome uncle was a little different than Elias proving he wasn’t his murderous father, so Fred was beginning to think that he actually got the long end of the stick this time.

@fred <3 Elias looked back up at Fred, watching for his reaction. Obviously it was a shock, how much Elias had just revealed, but he was trying to take as much advice from Maria as he could. To be himself, be true to himself and who he was and maybe he'd be happier. Fred's shaky voice was a bit of a shock to Elias but nothing he couldn't understand. "I don't think I'd necessarily call it a chip on my shoulder. The man gave me a rough life, and I don't like him, but I wouldn't ever stoop down to his level. That's exactly what I want to avoid." Being a Werewolf was something Elias slowly became accustomed to and learned to deal with, even if it wasn't the best. He had to learn how to live.

Fred shrugged when Elias said that he didn’t have a chip on his shoulder. Fred’s definition of the thing probably wasn’t the “correct” one, but he had always thought of having a chip on his shoulder as having something to prove, and both he and Elias definitely felt like they had to prove themselves. That wasn’t any matter, though, because one of the great things about being around someone you cared for was that there was nothing you had to prove to them. Elias didn’t know Fred’s uncle and Fred didn’t know Elias’s father, so they could just be them. “Well, you’re pretty tall, so you’d have to stoop pretty far.” Fred said, quirking his lips into a smile at his own joke. “Enough sad talk, though. Adventure awaits – how do you feel about roof running?” Fred had figured out that there were some Hogsmeade buildings with fire escapes that let you access their roofs, and it was pretty easy to get up there, as long as you had a buddy (or a trash can) to give you a boost. Fred had refrained from doing too much on the roofs in anticipation of this moment.

@fred <3 Fred's joke brought a smile to Elias' face. He seemed to be full o them, which wasn't a bad thing. Being able to make people smile and laugh when they didn't want to was a great trait to have. Unfortunately Elias didn't think he had many good traits such as that - sure he was tall and handsome and could speak other languages, but that wasn't anything to help improve other's moods. Maybe his dancing, but even so, Maria was the only person to have seem him dance before. Fred then asked him about, ah, roof running? Elias looked incredibly confused and he tilted his head, his curls falling over his shoulder. "Sorry, roof running? Zvuchi opasno, Fred." Of course the boy had no idea what he said, but if it was what Elias thought it was, he wasn't sure how he felt about it.

Elias looked confused at what Fred had said, and the Gryffindor wondered if he had gotten lost in translation. When the other boy cocked his head, Fred mirrored him, so both of their heads were tilted to the side. “Yeah, roof running!” Fred agreed enthusiastically. “I dunno what that means.” Fred said when Elias spoke in another language, presumably Bulgarian. If the typical response to his idea was anything to go by, Elias was either asking what the hell that was, or saying that it sounded dangerous. “Have you ever heard of parkour? Kind of like that. You jump across buildings and stuff. It’s really fun! And not nearly as dangerous as that maze.” Elias, of all people, ought to be a little less afraid of things like this. After facing flesh-eating slugs, what was a little jumping and running going to do to him? Besides, Fred would be there to catch him if he fell.

@fred <3 "Oh! I'm sorry. That sounds dangerous, Fred. Are you sure that's safe to do?" Elias' eyes widened. The both of them had their heads tilted, and if there was a different situation Elias may have founded it funnier than he did currently. Is this what teenagers did here for fun? He wasn't sure, but maybe the anxiety would make it more fun for him. Fred spoke again, and Elias' nose scrunched up. He shook his head slightly, and shrugged. "I haven't no." Not as dangerous as the maze? Elias felt like he could be killed if he fell off a building, though he supposed that's what the magic was for. "We could try...as long as you make sure to protect me." He laughed nervously.

Elias repeated what he said in English, and Fred was pleased that his guess about the comment being about danger was correct. “I’m not sure it’s safe, no, but I’m not sure about a lot of things these days.” Fred said breezily. Letting a little bit of doubt sneak in and ruin his fun was not a way Fred wanted to live his life. It seemed that Elias didn’t know what parkour was, so Fred’s description of what they were about to do was lost on him. Eventually, though, the other boy agreed to try, which caused Fred to grin. “I could kiss you right now!” Fred exclaimed happily. He had been looking for someone to roof run with him for quite some time… and he had been looking for an excuse to kiss Elias for quite some time, too, though he wasn’t going to actually go in for a kiss until he saw the way the other boy reacted to the exclamation. “And don’t you worry any, I’m the king of safety.” Often finding himself in trouble meant that Fred was better at getting himself out of trouble than most, so he knew quite a few handy spells when it came to getting out of sticky situations like rapidly falling through air.

@fred <3 Elias' eyes widened. He wasn't sure it was safe? Then why do it? My goodness that seemed like a terrible choice. Elias wasn't sure if he wanted to do it or not, but what the hell. He may as well live his life right? Fear would always be present in most things that he did, and he assumed if he faced it on occasion it wouldn't be so bad. His worry turned to happiness, however, as Fred stated that he could kiss him. A smile presented itself on the Bulgarian's face, and he shrugged. "You could kiss me whenever, Fred." A slight pink color crossed the boy's face, but he continued to smile through the embarrassment. "I hope so, because I'm not too confident in this game at the moment."
