Here is the book I promised to send you at the Yule Ball. I'm sorry that it's somewhat delayed - all of the owls in the owlery were exhausted from their holiday excursions and I couldn't bring myself to ask one of them to make yet another journey. I hope you enjoy the play, that your Christmas was merry, and your New Year bright. All my well wishes to you and yours. @adeline

dear lysander,
Thank you! I'm so sorry my answers been so delayed; there have been some...incidents at the Ministry which required my services as an Obliviator. I can't say too much more unfortunately, security clearances and whatnot. But lets say there were a few wizards that got a little magic-happy in front of a school and it could have ended a lot worse. I'm about halfway through the book and I really like it so far. Though sometimes I do have to wonder if parents could just let their children be with the one they love instead of the one THEY betroth them to, everyone would be much happier.
My New Year was lovely thank you! I actually got to meet my brothers new partner (romantic partner!) and convinced him to come to a sushi restaurant. You must understand, this was a very big deal for him - he hates sushi (hate is a kind word). What about you? How has the semester been going for you so far?
I promise that my next letter will be replied to much more quickly!
Adeline @lysander

It’s fine; I expect delayed answers more than not, since the people I write to often (that is, my parents and occasionally Alice Longbottom) are always busy travelling the world, and sometimes it can take quite a bit for my owl to chase them down to whatever they were. I’m sorry about the incident at work, but I’m sure that you handled it well. I haven’t seen any articles in the Daily Prophet about there being mass hysteria in the Muggle world at least, so I think you’re safe. Even with people choosing their own romantic partners, there ends up being more drama than I really think there should be – if you love someone, you love them, and you should tell them no matter your relationship status, or theirs. All the balking and pining makes for more problems than it solves.
That sounds like quite the event. The only thing of note so far in this semester is that I’ve attempted to become a vegetarian. It’s quite interesting, because I’ve been able to sample more of the side dishes that the house elves made than I ever have before, since meat is normally the main dish. Other than that, I’ve been continuing on with my studies and helping run the Magical Creatures club, which is going along swimmingly. I’ve been meaning to see if I can track the thestral herd in the Forbidden Forest, but it seems like something I should do with a partner.
Take all the time you need. @adeline
