Louis was glad to have his sister back on school grounds, but he didn't really feel she was....back. Phyisically yes, but mentally? Dom had thrown herself into her studies, and even though Louis was not the most...studious of students, it didn't take a genius to know this. He knew Victoire had tried her tactic; get Dominique to open up finally and not hold back about everything she had been feeling. About the kidnappings, about Ethan, mostly about Ethan specifically. Louis had known the boy a little through Quidditch and he had always been nice to him. But now, Louis was ready to try his own tactic on Operation Cheer Dominique Up. It'd be different than Vic's for certain, but even Louis didn't have every single detail planned. It was the way he was; spontaneous, impulsive to a point, but it was why people liked him. So here he was, waiting in the Entrance Hall for his sister, having at least the first part of the afternoon planned. But after that? Who knows! @dominique

Dom was apprehensive. Yeah, that was the right word. She'd heard that Louis wanted to do something with her, which was normally something she would be excited about ... but she was nervous that he'd talked to Vic and would want to continue on their sister's attempts to get Dom to open up. Vic had been partially successful, but not wholly, and Dom felt more broken now than ever, though she was trying to hide that from most of the people around her. Still, Louis had always been one of the few who could see through her fake moods.
Still, no matter how nervous she was, Dom had no intention of avoiding her brother or whatever plans he may have. That just wasn't her style. So she went to the entrance hall, smiling at the people she met in the hallways and trying to act like her normal, peppy self. Most of them couldn't tell something was wrong with her anyway. She was doing fine. "Hey Lou, what's up?" she asked as she approached him cheerfully.

Louis beamed at his big sister as she came into the Entrance Hall; she sounded cheerful enough, but he knew it was a bit of a facade at this point. Dominique was hurting, and while it was Vic’s job to get her to open up and talk about everything, it was Louis’ job to make sure she had fun and remembered to live life. Ethan wouldn’t want her being sad; though Louis had not known him all that well, he did think he’d want Dom to be happy, he had been a nice guy. “Dom!” he exclaimed, wrapping his sister in a bear hug. “Come on, we don’t want to be late,” he said excitedly, taking her arm and tugging it. Of course, none of what he had planned out in his head had specific times set, but it added some intrigue to their day, which could distract his sister from her turmoiled thoughts.
Louis opened the big doors of Great Hall and they stepped out into the sunlight. Thought he would not necessarily consider this January day warm by all means, it was sunny and not freezing which was a welcome change to the weather. Plus, sunshine was good for the soul. “First things first, we’re heading down to one of the Magical Creatures hut,” he told her. He had checked with the Care of Magical Creatures professor if he could show his sister the young unicorns she had shown his class the past week to try and cheer her up, so he knew she was aware of their impending arrival. He tugged Dominique along until they finally came to the paddock. “Look,” he said triumphantly, his voice soft though as to not startle the unicorns.

When Louis greeted her, Dom's smile became a little more genuine. She forgot how easy it was to feel happy around him. He was like her (at least, the normal her) and seemed to cheer up those around him just by his attitude. She hugged him back, taking a deep breath as she did so. She needed to relax. Today was going to be good. Knowing Louis, he probably planned something fun to do with her, which meant she needed to just go with it and enjoy the ride. "Late for what?" she said with a giggle as she followed him. Not that she had much choice, with him grabbing her arm.
Dom's head cocked to the side slightly when Louis told her they were going down to the Magical Creatures hut. Why would they be going there, of all places? Still, she was sure she would know why soon enough and followed him. Then they came to the paddock and Dom's mouth fell open in awe. "Oooooh! They're beautiful," she breathed to her brother, moving as close to the fence as she could. She didn't want to startle them, but the unicorns were amazing, living proof that despite how ugly the world got, there was still beauty to be found. She turned to Louis and her eyes narrowed slightly, "What did Vic tell you?" No, she didn't really want to talk about this, but she wanted to know why he was doing this for her. If it was because Vic told him to ... or because he noticed how down she was lately. Maybe it was rude to ask that, but Dom was impulsive and couldn't help it. He'd understand that, hopefully.

Louis sighed and gave his big sister a sympathetic smile. That took...four minutes to get to the subject of what Victoire had told Louis about Dom's current state of mind. Really, the eldest Delacour-Weasley girl had not gone into explicit detail about what Dominique was feeling, but she also made it clear that she could do with some crazy little brother cheering up. "She didn't say much, I only saw her for about five minutes when I was in Hogsmeade last weekend," he started, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly as he looked Dom in the eye. "She said you've regressed since Christmas with your healing over....Ethan. That you've been more down and miserable lately, not focusing on what you used to love to do." He paused, then reached out to take her hand. "Then she asked me to do what I do best; find some kind of adventure or two and take you with me. So here's step one in the Louis Weasley healing process." He tugged on her hand, gently and slowly leading her over to the paddock. "At this age, unicorns don't fear boys as much, so they let me pet them too. Professor said we could give them a few carrots and sugar cubes but not to overindulge them," he told her grinning. He reached out, letting the closest foal sniff his hand before he gently stroked its' mane. "See? They're beautiful and gentle," he told her, his voice calm and even to not startle them.

Louis looked disappointed almost that she brought this up so early on, but Dom couldn't help it. She knew that Vic said something to Louis and wanted to know what it was. She was glad when he didn't try to evade the question. Dom nodded as he explained. She didn't like the wording "regressed" but she also couldn't argue with him about it. Something about this last Christmas made her think of Ethan and then after talking with Vic about it ... she couldn't seem to come back from that and she wasn't surprised Vic realized that. She smiled at Louis, "Thanks for telling me. Now I can enjoy our adventures without wondering about what Vic said," she admitted. She didn't want to have to worry about that. She followed easily when he tugged on her hand, nodding at what he said. She followed his example, extending a hand toward the unicorn. She felt a small smile tug at the corners of her mouth as she petted the foal in front of her. "They are. This is amazing," she whispered to her brother. "Thank you," she added, looking over at him.

Louis grinned as Dominique said that now she could go ahead and enjoy the adventures without the question of what Vic had told him. He supposed that it was a good idea to get that uncomfortable conversation out of the way now instead of halfway through the day; he would believe that the thoughts were circling in Dom’s mind the entire day and that trying to cheer her up through adventures wasn’t really helping. Now at least he believed he had a real shot at cheering her up. “Anything for you Dom,” he said honestly. His family had always been close, and he was more than happy to go out of his way to cheer them up if they needed it. It felt far less like a chore than something he enjoyed doing. They stayed with the unicorns for a little while, then Louis reached over and tugged her hair gently. “Come on Dom, onto phase two,” he told her. Little did his sister know he had set up a short but exciting ropes course for them on the outskirts of the forest (with the permission of the groundskeeper of course) that the two of them could compete on.

Louis didn't seem so disappointed anymore, he seemed relieved and Dom was glad. She didn't want to ruin their day together with her questions, but knowing that Vic talked to him about her also wasn't something she could ignore. She still felt broken, but she was willing to try and let Louis distract her from that for a while. Maybe he would actually be able to do it too. After all, unicorns were a great start. If he had more in his plans than this, then maybe it wouldn't be so hard to distract and cheer her up. She looked over when he tugged on her hair, "Phase two?" She asked as a small smile covered her face. He did have more planned! She slowly stood up- so as not to startle the unicorns- and then followed him out of the paddock and over to the forest. "Lou, what are we doing?" she asked curiously, a smile ready to take over her features.

When Dom asked what they were doing, Louis just shook his head with a mysterious smile and tugged on her arm, knowing that once they got to the course she'd be delighted. Or he hoped; only one of the ropes was high up and the other two were easy enough to get back on the ground for. If she wanted to stop before the higher one they could, but then she'd miss the fun zipline down. "Ta da!" he exclaimed, gesturing grandly at the course in front of them. "I had a little...well, a lot of help with this but we're going to have fun," he told her, picking up a helmet and giving it to her. "Here, got to be safe," he told her. He led her around the small course. "So first thing is this rope bridge, not too high up and pretty basic. Then from the bridge we head up the rope tunnel up to that other bridge which is higher and maybe a little more dangerous. But worth it in the end because we get to zipline back down to the ground," he explained, pointing as he went along. "We can do this as slow as you want and you can slide back down the rope tunnel if you don't want to go across the second bridge Dom," he told her, waiting for her reaction. @dominique one two three four

Louis wouldn't tell her what he had planned next, so when he tugged on her arm Dom started to move more quickly. She really wanted to know what he had planned next. When they arrived, she froze, her mouth open as she stared at what her brother set up. He handed her a helmet and Dom rolled her eyes, but took it. "If you're expecting me to wear this, there had better be one for you too," she told him with a serious look. As a general rule, Dom didn't do helmets. Or protective gear of any sort, but since this was Louis' idea, if he did it she would too. She listened as he described the course, not yet showing him how excited she was at the idea. She kept her face expressionless. Then he started saying that they could go slow or they didn't have to do specific parts if she didn't want to ... which was really sweet of him, but really? Did he know her at all? Once he'd finished talking, Dom pretended to examine the course seriously for a minute, before turning to him and grinning. "Are you serious!?! You really think that I'll do this, but only part of it or that I'll want to take it slow?" That wasn't her at all. "I want to do the whole thing!" She told him with a wide smile. Then she paused as a thought occurred to her. "What if we do it so well that we have time to do it again and then the second time we can try and do it faster!" Assuming he would let her do it twice. She grabbed his hand. "Come on, let's do this!"

Louis made a face at his sister, but produced his own helmet and fastened it securely under his chin. “I don’t need a helmet but if it makes you feel better Dom I will don it for you,” he said, grinning goofily. He would have worn a helmet regardless; he had faith in his and his friends’ skills when they had created the course but as a failsafe he’d rather not crack his head open if he could avoid it. His grin widened when Dom excitedly grabbed his hand, obviously ready to start the course. “Excellent, quite excellent,” he declared as they hurried over to start the course. He gave his elder sister a mock bow, offering for her to go first. “Age before beauty,” he joked, laughing teasingly at her.
And so the two Weasley siblings began their ascent, Louis climbing across the rope bridge after Dominique. He was pretty proud of how secure the ropes felt, though with the breeze sometimes they would sway. He gave her a few minutes head start on the rope tunnel; he knew that with his skill level he would climb up it like a little monkey. So when she was three-quarters of the way up, he started scampering up until they both reached the top within seconds of each other. “Ready for round three?” he asked, grinning widely at his sister.

Dom rolled her eyes at the face Louis made at her. "I am not a believer in helmets, as you know very well, but I will wear this one, since you brought it for me ... and because you have one of your own." Honestly safety had never really been one of her priorities when it came to her adventures. Dom liked to have fun. She didn't normally think much about the consequences of her actions. When he announced age before beauty, Dom smirked at him and gave him a small curtsy (despite the fact that she was wearing torn up jeans). "Why thank you, kind Sir," she teased him back.
This looked a lot harder than it was. Actually, that was probably due to the fact that Dom loved this kind of thing and was good at it, though she wasn't too proud to admit that Louis was better at some parts than she was. Still, the two of them made very good time and once they were at the top of the rope tunnel she turned to face her brother, who asked if she was ready for the next round. "What kind of a question is that?" she demanded, "Of course I am!" She gestured for him to go first this time. "It's your turn, little brother," she told him with a smile.

Louis shrugged. “I figured it was better safe than sorry, in case you’re out of practice and tripped or something,” he said, feigning sounding innocent, but Dom knew perfectly well he was teasing her. They made their way up the ropes course together, and he had to admit Dom was doing a great job. Even better than that though, she seemed happy, happier than she had the past few weeks at the very least. This was exactly what he was going for, and he was glad to see the smile on her face as she eagerly waited for the third part. “Why thank you kind lady,” he said in a mock hoity-toity accent. He stepped out onto the rope bridge - this one was more difficult than the second one, and he didn’t mind taking his time on it. He did wobble once or twice, but soon both of his feet were on the platform. “Alright Dom, you should be the first to zipline down. It’s completely exhilarating and you’ll thank me for going first when we get down,” he told her with a wide grin.

Dom rolled her eyes at her younger brother. "I don't trip unless it's on purpose. You know that." She was too good at doing practical things than that. She couldn't draw or do art, but when it came to physical things, she could do that. This was so much fun! Louis was so good at helping her do the things that made her happier. She followed her across the bridge at a good distance, grinning at the challenge. It wasn't as easy as the first part had been, but Dom loved it all the same. It didn't take too long to cross, though a little longer than the first one and then she was standing beside Louis again. He told her to go first and she grabbed the zipline and jumped, wooping as she zipped down the line. The wind was in her face and this was fabulous! She absolutely loved it! She reached the bottom and couldn't stop laughing. So she laughed as she waited for her brother to arrive beside her.

Louis responded by sticking his tongue out at his elder sister. Childish as it was, he knew they were having fun, she was having fun, and that was what was important in this moment. “I forgot, you’ve got the veela grace like Mum. Unfortunately those genes don’t pass down to us men,” he said, mock bowing towards her with a grin. Louis honestly had no idea why the veela grace did not pass down to the male line, but it didn’t really matter to him. He doubted Georgie cared whether or not he was graceful as he walked at least, and that was what mattered.
Louis couldn’t help but laugh as Dominique whooped loudly as she zipped down the zipline to the ground. It was good to hear her sounding so elated and excited, a welcome change from seeming down in the mouth. He knew that the winter months weren’t kind to many peoples’ mental states, especially those who were haunted by past events like his sister. It was called Seasonal Affective Disorder, if his friend whose mother was a Muggle psychiatrist was to be believed; he wondered if Dom knew anything about that.
When Dominique reached the bottom, Louis summoned the harness back up the line so he could have a go. He had tested out the other obstacles before retrieving his sister from the Great Hall, but had saved the zipline as it was his favorite part of the course. He smiled, remembering the zipline he and Zac had constructed and how fun it had been zipping down from the Astronomy Tower. This one wasn’t nearly as high or long, but it did have a steeper incline, meaning he’d go faster. He clipped himself in and zipped down, crying out with glee as the wind whipped against his face, reveling in the moment. He landed easily on his feet and unclipped himself, grinning widely at Dom. “Shall we go again?” he asked her.
