Madison had always been good at a few subjects and an average at others. And one such subject was Transfiguration. Though she managed to get an exceeds expectations in her OWL LEVEL exams, and that meant that see got to continue the subject fr her Newt level class. But one after she entered the class did she realize that it was good to be a lot more difficult than she thought it would be. And as a result, she began to slack in her classes which was easily noticed by Professor fawley. Though she was good at charms, some how the complications involved in this subject was not her cup of tea. And that resulted in her getting extra lessons to improve. With Quidditch practice she managed to evade the lessons. But she knew that it was for her, and so she decided to meet the Transfiguration Professor that evening. Madi made her way down to the second floor, and braced herself for a lecture on evading the classes. She raised her hand and knocking on the door, she called out "can I come in". And then she opened the door slowly and stepping inside, she spoke "good evening professor Fawley, and I'm sorry for not coming to the earlier class". @foaly1 OOC : Hey Jay, here's the thread and it's upto you, if you want it to be extra lesson or just these two talking things out MADE BY VEL OF GS

Charlotte was marking essays when the knock at the door came, and the woman glanced up at the clock on the wall with an expression of vague surprise. Was it really that time already? A voice came from beyond the door, and the brunette called out "Yes, come in!" as a response. The door swung quickly open and the dark-haired professor smiled as a student entered. "Ah, Miss Roberts." she greeted the girl. "Nice to see you for a change. I was beginning to fear that you had abandoned our school."
The thing about Madison Roberts, Charlotte reflected, was that she was perfectly capable of achieving a good grade in Transfiguration- if she ever actually began to really apply herself to the subject. The girl's OWL grade had been perfectly acceptable- in fact, it had been better than that; it had been an E. Yes, she knew that things got more difficult when you took a subject at NEWT level, but the basic principles were the same. Madison really should not be struggling as much as she was, and the problem, so far as Charlotte could tell, was lack of effort.
"Take a seat." she invited the girl, pushing a box of chocolates across the desk. Charlotte made a point of offering them to anyone who visited her, if only to reduce the amount of chocolate that she ate herself- which was a constant problem.

Madison didn't know what to expect when she entered the room. It was her fault that she didn't go to the previous class, but that was because she had a Quidditch practice and before that she had been in the hospital wing for an injury and so on so forth. Regardless, she didn't know how much of that was the Professor going to listen to. When she was greeted with the Professor's usual charming self, Madi herself was relaxed. And upon listening to the older witch's words, she gave a charming smile and said "you know that I wouldn't leave school Professor. I love this place" and as she walked her way towards the seat, she grinned and said "and I would never leave you behind, I like you soo much". There that was her usual self she thought as she settled down in her seat. When the Professor pushed forward a box of chocolates, she gave a smile and said "this is why I like you Professor Fawley, and I know you like me too" as she took one out of the box plopped it into her mouth. She then asked with a sweet look, "so what am i going to learn today Professor?"MADE BY VEL OF GS

Charlotte smiled as the girl sat, and she pushed the pile of essays that she had been absorbed in marking off to one side. "Some of the seventh years are really beginning to worry me." she remarked, indicating the parchment. There were a select few who had only turned in about a third of an essay each, and she was beginning to run out of red ink. Charlotte had never been much good at divination, but she could predict with absolute accuracy that she would be having stern words with certain students before the week was out, and quite possibly writing pointed letters to parents before the end of the year. Still, you never knew- they might surprise her and actually do some work. Or not. Probably not.
"I thought we might do a little work on some human transfiguration tonight." Charlotte responded to the question, smiling a little at Madison's comment. "Tell me, do you know the spell Crinus Muto?" Most of the older students made a point of learning that one, purely for the time that it could save in one's preparations. The ability to change the colour and style of one's hair without having to rely on Muggle dyes and... hairbrushes... was an absolute godsend, especially when one was in a hurry. Charlotte honestly didn't know how she'd ever managed without it.

When the Professor began to talk away, and did not respond to her previous comments, Madi had to resist the urge to pout. The girl was always used to getting the talk her way, but now it was no where near possible. And then the Professor commented about the seventh years slacking off, and sighed as she did not want the Professor to pick it her own essay she submitted the previous class. "This subject is difficult Professor, can you blame them? Do you know, oh may be you would know, but I'll say it anyways, many take this class because they need it for a job in ministry". And Madi was not among them thankfully. She was among those who took the subject because she felt it would be great to know it, and may be someday she might be able to ace the subject like charms and potions. As the Professor mentioned about human Transfiguration, Madi leaned forward wondering what she would be learning. That part of the subject was always a little difficult as it needed high level of concentration which Madi lacked slightly. The girl was too volatile in nature to remain at a place and concentrate on the same thing. "As you wish Professor, but a word of warning.. I'm not that good at them, wait that is why I'm in these extra class right? Oh great I keep forgetting that"she completed the last part with a sheepish smile. And when the Professor mentioned the spell, madi's face lightened up. She had never tried the spell herself, but she watched her aunt Amanda do it countless times on her hair. She nodded and said "yes I've heard about it. It's the hair styling or rather a spell to change ones hair color, texture and length, right?" As she spoke in and on, she had reached a point where she is not that confident as before. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Charlotte smiled in response to the girl's first comment. "Yes, I am aware that it's a difficult subject." she allowed. "I don't have an issue with people finding it hard. What I do have an issue with is people in their seventh year knowing absolutely nothing about a spell which they should have covered in their fifth year." Charlotte had wondered at first whether that was down to standard of teaching, but since there were many others in the class who were apparently perfectly capable of completing the assignment, she had discarded that idea. It was not a complex spell, and there were plenty of books in the library which covered it- in fact, if they kept their old textbooks, which they should do for revision, then it was in the Standard Book of Spells for fifth year. The brunette was not impressed.
"I do know that, yes." she responded to the girl's next topic of conversation with a gentle smile. It was one of the first questions which she asked her classes- did they need a particular grade for the job that they wanted? More often than not, the answer was yes, and it would seem that Transfiguration was not a class which many would wish to take, were it not for the necessity of the NEWT in gaining many positions. That rather depressed Charlotte, since Transfiguration had always been one of her favourite subjects- but then, that was why she was teaching it.
Human transfiguration in particular had always been fun for Charlotte, since the lessons tended to be practical and one could have great fun in turning other students into various objects... well, turning them different colours, anyway. A Slytherin had once turned Charlotte's hair green and then refused to turn it back, which had caused her much embarrassment for about a month. "It is indeed that one." she agreed with her student. The brunette passed a textbook across the desk, a bookmark lying in the correct place. "In case you need it." she explained. "Wand out now, please."

Madison wondered if the professor was aiming those answers at her, but brushed it off as she was not among those who can't perform. She was just someone who cannot concentrate enough on a thing. She just nodded her head in response and then added "oh professor Fawley i totally feel you. Having o teach said students". She was not kidding when she said it, not many have the capability to teach such students. But not everyone are forward enough to say it to the professor too. But Madison was one of kind and normal rules don't apply to her. Madison just nodded in reply, this meshes code not to speak. The topic was not something which would help her out. And when the professor mentioned that they would be practicing the human transfiguration or she hoped that was what she meant when Fawley asked her to take her was out. She took the bookpasssd to her and began reading it, but not before she said "thanks prof". She read the whole page which detailed about the spell, it's incantation, and movement and effect's. She looked the the professor and asked "in ready prof. What do you want me to do?"a she twirled her wand between her fingers. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Charlotte offered merely a smile and a half nod in response to the girl's sympathetic comment, and went back to her marking as Madison opened the textbook which she offered. It always astounded her just how little some of the students could manage to convey while still taking up the required amount of parchment. Write twelve inches of parchment, she had said, and half the class promptly went away to find the thickest quill that they had before writing in their biggest handwriting. Six sentences was the record so far, and the brunette was beginning to wonder whether it might not be more practical to enforce a word count instead of a measurement. Perhaps she would have to try it out with her third year class, who were the worst offenders, the next time that she felt up to setting homework. She would see...
But she was dragged out of her thoughts by Madison's question, and she shook her head slightly to dispel the air of abstractedness which she felt still clung on to her. "Ah, well done." she murmured vaguely. Sliding open a desk drawer, which protested audibly under the weight of huge piles of paperwork, as well as various jars and boxes of materials. It was one of these which she retrieved now; a small and intricately detailed box which she opened to withdraw a lock of horse hair. "See what you can do with that." she instructed. @kyles1

Madison watched on as the professor returned her attention back to the stack of papers she was marking. She idly wondered what she would say, if Madi tried to take a look into those while that might not be a good idea, she can always ask right? She was a curious being to begin with, and seeing as she totally hated the silence which was reigning in the room. So decided to show some of that Gryffindor courage and asked "so professor, which year's papers are those?" No one has lost points while on a Extra class right? Oh well since she already has spoken, there was only one way to find out. Not many professor's encouraged small talk, but being who she was, Madi had to test every unspoken rule. As the professor gave her a lock of hair, Madi grinned. Now this method is teaching was rather great, got she would know what was exactly happening to her spell. Now all Madi need to do was to stay focused and succed in this. If she gets this spell, the wouldn't be a need to go and bother her aunt Amanda every time she wanted to change her hair styling. Taking her wand out, and pointing at the hair in front of her, Madi focused to turn it into a black colour and said crinus muto. She watched as a faint light emitted from her wand's end and she looked at the lock of hair Hopingto see a change. Well luck was on her side, for the change was rather bold to see. The reddish brown hair now had few patches of black as though the hair was haphazardly dipped in black colour. "Pfft, why won't it change easily?" she commented wth a frown marring her face. Charlotte quickly vanished into a world of her own as she delved head first into the complex and often utterly bizarre world which was the seventh year papers. A world, she might add, which bore very little resemblance whatsoever to the rational world which was inhabited by most of the rest of the occupants of Hogwarts- although she still wasn't entirely sure about herself. She was just engaged in attempting to decipher the handwriting and the grammar of a particularly convolutes sentence which she suspected was actually referring to a completely different spell to the question, when Maddison spoke, and it took her a moment to register the question. Another moment to decipher it. And then she laid down her quill, all too glad of the respite be it ever so brief, and responded. "These are seventh year papers." she responded with a heavy sigh, and adding not quite under her breath "Although they look more like first year answers." Honestly, she was puzzled as to where she'd gone wrong. Surely she hadn't screwed up her teaching so spectacularly as to cause this sorry collection before her? Or maybe she had. Honestly, the brunette had no idea; this was her first time doing something like this, and she could be doing everything wrong for all she knew.
She watched the girl's technique on the spell for a few seconds, and then frowned thoughtfully. "There's nothing wrong with your wandwork or pronunciation, so the issue must be somewhere else." she told the student. "Try a little more focus. Don't think about your lunch, or what you're doing at the weekend, or how much you like the boy on the next table in Potions. Just fill your mind with the image of that hair changing colour."
