Dustin laughed when Vinnie said that she liked the idea of him forcing her onto a broom. “It’s probably not as romantic as you’re envisioning.” Dustin could be downright stubborn when it came to things like that, and he wouldn’t be above physically tackling her to the ground long enough to Stun her and drag her onto a broom. By the time she woke up, it would be too late to change anything. But Vinnie didn’t need to know his plan of attack, just in case it ever became a necessary reality.
Dustin shook his head when Vi said that he couldn’t blame her if the gingerbread was rubbish. “If you can read, you can do this.” He soothed her. There was no way to mess up gingerbread. “…You can read, right?” Dustin teased. Of course she could – she was a Nott. Dustin rolled his eyes at the thought. Family names were overrated. The Gryffindor nodded when he was given his task – egg cracking. Dustin opened up the carton of eggs, selecting three of the best-looking ones. He knew there wasn’t any real difference, but it was more satisfying to crack open larger eggs, so those were the ones Dustin chose. “I’m going.” He whined when Vi told him to hop to it. When all three eggs were neatly cracked, Dustin disposed of the shells and washed his hands. Salmonella wasn’t fun. “What next, master?” He asked, chuckling at the ridiculous moniker.

Viovinnia could not help the smirk that spread across her face. "I dunno," she said slowly, looking him up and down flirtatiously. "I think you underestimate your charm. You could probably get any girl to do anything." The only down side to Dustin's ego being equally as self-absorbed as Viovinnia's own was that it was harder to make him embarrassed than the regular old guy. Then again, Dustin definitely wasn't just any regular old guy. And that presented a challenge for the Slytherin. But, unlike most challenges Vi had encountered in her life, this was one challenge she was willing to take on.
The Slytherin continued to smirk as she moved to start mixing the ingredients into a big bowl. "I bet I was reading before you could even talk," she wiggled her eyebrows at him to return the teasing. She had to admit, Dustin playfully whining after she ordered him to get to work was weirdly cute to the blonde. She turned to her own bowl again. Vi kept glancing at the ingredients as she measured each out accordingly, adding them to the bowl as she went. When that was done, she turned to see Dustin had also finished cracking the eggs. She glanced back at the directions. "Chill for thirty minutes and preheat... oven? ... to three hundred and seventy-five degrees." She looked up at him with a raised eyebrow. "I don't know what 'preheating' means." She said simply. Must be a Muggle thing.

Dustin shrugged his shoulders when Vi said that he underestimated his charm. “You see, there’s a problem with that theory.” Dustin drawled. “There’s only one girl that I want to get to go anything.” And that was present company, of course. “And she doesn't seem as susceptible to my charms as most.” Sure, he could get Vinnie to do most of what he wanted, but in between she managed to get him to do quite a bit, too. It was an interesting relationship, more like a dance than a maze, and Dustin was, quite frankly, intoxicated by the complexity of it all.
“You forget two things.” Dustin said when Vinnie claimed she could probably read before he could talk. “One: I love to talk, and thus started talking early.” Dustin had been a little younger than six months when he had piped out his first ‘mama’. “And two: I’m older than you.” Old enough to be in separate years at school, at least. “So unless you started reading in utero…” He wouldn’t put it past pureblood families to try something ridiculous like that. They finished making the dough for the bread, and Vinnie seemed to stumble over the word ‘preheat’. Right. She didn’t know Muggle things like that. “It warms the oven up, so that the food gets cooked at the right temperature.” Dustin informed her. He padded over to the oven in question and set it to preheat. “I guess we can put something over top of the dough and chill it, then.” And whatever could they do in the thirty minute interim? Dustin was excited to find out.

Viovinnia smirked. She knew he meant her, unless there was some other girl he could be talking about but he was in the Alps with her so who else could he possibly mean? "Hm," Vi mused matter of factly. "Well. That girl must be smart." She flashed him a teasing grin and moved about the kitchen.
"Well, you know my mother probably did try reading to us in the womb, so..." Vi wasn't trying to seriously compete with Dustin, but just have fun. It was nice because he seemed to always be able to pick up on that. It was a big part of why she was so fond of being around him. "Hm. That's odd." She looked at the oven for a moment and then turned back around to find something for the dough to chill in. She found a large bowl and a lid and set it all in the fridge and turned back to Dustin with a smirk. "What now?"

"Dustin rolled his eyes when Vi said that the girl who was immune to his charms was a smart one. Of course she would take that opportunity to compliment herself. “She’s okay, I guess. She’s not dumb, but genius? I’m not sure.” He stuck his tongue out on her. There must have been plenty that Vi didn’t know, right? Dustin was going to keep believing that.
He rolled his eyes again when Vinnie said her mother probably tried reading to her in utero. He had totally called that one, yet he was still somewhat disgusted by the lengths purebloods would go to for superior children. Vinnie moved the dough to chill, and then asked that they were supposed to do now that they were just waiting. “We wait.” He said with a shrug. “Unless you can devise a better way to pass the time.” Dustin added innocently, sure that Viovinnia would have absolutely no trouble finding more interesting ways to spend their next hour or so than just standing in the kitchen talking.

As usual, Vi's smirk was on her face as she narrowed her eyes into a playful glare. "Hm" she mused, her eyes flickering to his mouth when he stuck his tongue out at her. "Is that what you tell yourself to sleep at night?" If anyone else had made that snide remark, they probably wouldn't be able to speak again. It was still amazing to Viovinnia how fast she had found herself able to trust Dustin. She didn't trust just anyone, let out a boy she knew little about as far as his personal life went. Vi just knew that they were similar in their personalities and ego and she liked snogging him. The fact that he brought out a good part of her was another huge plus.
Viovinnia raised an eyebrow at the curly haired blonde. "Are you sure you want to ask me?" She smirked. "I'm the 'not a genius' girl, remember?" She teased. "Though, I could think of a few things we could do..." she mused, but then looked at Dustin with a curious look. "But... what would you do?" She asked him. "Traditionally, of course," she added nonchalantly.

Viovinnia was glaring at him, but Dustin knew that he hadn’t overstepped his bounds. He imagined that a death glare would look different form a playful glare. “I don’t tell myself anything to sleep at night.” Dustin insisted. “Especially not when I get to sleep next to such a beautiful girl.” Waking up next to someone, Dustin had found, was much preferable to waking up alone. It made the whole morning better, just because he knew that somebody was there. He was going to miss it, when they got back from break and she had to go back to school and he had to sleep alone again.
Dustin knew that he was going to pay for that genius comment, and here was, paying for it. Vi said she had ideas, which heartened Dustin slightly, but then she insisted she wanted to know what he would traditionally do. “Usually we play a game of some sort. Exploding Snap is a popular one.” It used to be Monopoly, but with that one of the kids always ended up with a black eye or two, so their parents banned the game. “Normally we get one game in while it chills, then we roll out the dough, and then we play another game or two while it bakes.” Simple. Except for the fact that Dustin hadn’t thought to bring any cards…

Once again, Dustin caught Viovinnia off guard with his comment. She supposed she should start getting used to that. Her glare softened to a smirk then. "You really know how woo 'em, Bainbridge." She said, Vi walked over to the sink to rinse her hands and then leaned up against the counter as Dustin explained what games they usually played at his house. Her eyebrow raised. "Exploding Snap? Now that I'm vaguely familiar with," she crossed her arms. "Never played it, though."

Dustin just grinned at Vi when she said that he knew how to woo them. He hadn’t ever found someone wroth wooing before Vi had come along, so what was the point in getting good at it? He just happened to be able to find something good to say at opportune times, and that had worked out well enough for him and Vi so far. She was there, wasn’t she? Dustin snorted when Vi said that she was familiar with Exploding Snap, if only vaguely. “Miracle of miracles.” He didn’t know that purebloods were permitted to play that sort of game, in case they got soot on their dresses or something equally ridiculous. “I would offer to play with you, but I didn’t bring the cards.” Dustin wiggled his eyebrows at Vi. “Guess we’ll have to find another way to occupy our time.”

Vi shot another playful glare at Dustin when he called her knowing about Exploding Snap a miracle. Before meeting Dustin, it had never really occurred to her how different she had been brought up from other wizarding families. She knew, of course, that her parents were rather elitist about the blood stuff but she thought that most other wizarding families were just as clueless about ovens and preheating as she was. It was odd that Dustin wasn't. But then again, Dustin was an odd one which is exactly what wooed Viovinnia Nott in the first place.
The Slytherin's eyebrows rose when Dustin wiggled his eyebrows at her. "Oh?" She feigned cluelessness. "Hmm... however could we do that?" She folded her arms and tapped her chin with an index figure as she put on an act of naivity.

Dustin grinned back at Vi when she glared at him. He was getting very used to those glares, so much so that he wasn’t sure if Vi would ever actually be able to intimidate him with one, even if she wanted to. Vi’s reaction to his wiggling eyebrows only made Dustin’s smile wider, and he wandered closer to her, wrapping his arms around her waist even as she continued to tap her chin, trying to figure out what was going to be their distraction. “I have absolutely no clue.” Dustin said, bending his head down so his forehead was only a breath away from Vi’s. His smile just kept on growing wider, until he was sure it was going to split off his face. If only he had some cinnamon gum on him, Dustin thought with a soft sigh. Then this would be even more interesting than it already was.

Vi had always prided herself in her killer glare. She had spent years and years of living in a boring, pureblooded home that she had the glare down pat. So the fact that she was fairly good at intimidating others was something she enjoyed, but with Dustin it was the opposite. Instead of backing off like any other person, he instead came right on over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. The Slytherin pretended not to notice until he had his forehead just centimeters away from her own. "Perhaps," Vi said quietly, inching her face closer to Dustin's now. "I could think of one thing..." She moved in slower then for a kiss but then the timer for the preheating went off and Vi pulled her head away just as she barely grazed the Gryffindor's lips. "Oh, darn," she said with playful sarcasm but made no move to get out of Dustin's grasp as she smirked at the Gryffindor.

The tension in the air was just about to kill Dustin, and he was so, so ready to be able to kiss Vi, no matter how hard he was trying to be nonchalant about the entire thing. When the timer went off, Dustin damn near cried. He looked over towards the kitchen, and the oven, trying to decide what the best course of action would be. “It’ll still be there in half an hour, right?” Dustin asked innocently, once again getting painfully close to Vi without actually touching his lips to hers. “Unless you want me to go check on it…” Dustin didn’t leave enough time for Vi to answer him before bridging the last little bit between them, capturing her lips with his. He didn’t know how long he distracted himself in such a manner, but he was right: the oven was still there when he was done.
