Andy said that Nat would figure it out, and the Ravenclaw smiled at her younger sister. She was smart, she knew that… but there were some things that book smarts like Natalia had couldn’t fix. When Andy suggested walking into someone else’s dreams on purpose, Nat raised her eyebrows. She honestly hadn’t considered that. And since she only seemed to dream walk when she was already asleep, she didn’t know if there was a way to do it consciously. Unless she focused on it before she went asleep? But what Andy was saying, about trying to change the little things in her appearance… that made sense. “Do you think that I could control whose dreams I walk in on?” If it was just Eliza, then that was fine, Natalia supposed… but it would be nice to see other people in her dreams. Like Andy. It would certainly be easier just to fall asleep than to go all the way to Hogwarts to see her sister… and Natalia could keep nightmares away, if they came. She could protect her sister from the one thing she had been powerless against before.

Natalia smiled at her and Andy tried to keep an encouraging look on her face, but it was mixed with worry a little as well. Since coming out of the hospital, she was encouraged not to bury her emotions anymore so she was a bit of a 'heart on the sleeve' type now. She didn't really realize it was even happening naturally, but with practice it did and now she didn't even try to bury her emotions as much, if at all. Nat raised her eyebrows as Andy suggested walking into someones dreams on purpose, and then asked if Andy thought she could control WHOSE dreams she walked in on. "I... think you could, yeah. With practice. If this isn't a temporary thing," Andy said, her voice sounding more confident then she expected. "Like... with me. Maybe," she said, finally admitting what she had been thinking from the start.

Nat nodded when her sister confirmed that she thought that the Ravenclaw would be able to control whose dreams she walked in on, too. "I have a feeling it's not temporary." Natalia said. There was no literature on anything of this sort, but if it was something transient, chances were that someone else would have experienced it before. Nat didn't know why she suddenly went walking in the night, but she had a feeling it probably had to do with the events of New Year's Eve, and the emotional January that had followed it. Maybe all of the self-reflection she had done that month had somehow unlocked something within her? Merlin, it could have even been back when her father had tortured her, but she hadn't noticed until now due to her rather liberal use of Dreamless Sleep potions. No matter how it had began, though, Nat thought this peculiarity was here to stay.
Andy arrived at the same conclusion that Natalia had - that it would make sense for the one sister to walk into the dreams of the other. "We could try to plan something?" Natalia asked. She didn't know how this whole thing worked, but maybe her closeness to Andy, and her sister's willingness to accept Natalia into her dreams, would make the process easier. Having time to prepare would be good, too, since it would help Nat focus her energy or whatever onto her sister.

Andy nodded as Natalia said she didn't think it was temporary, but didn't speak anymore on that. Then Natalia suggested they try planning something with her entering a dream on purpose and Andy smiled, nodding. "I mean... maybe get some practice with the other controlling things first but... what about next week? Or rather, exactly seven days from now?" she suggested. She chewed on her bottom lip in thought for a moment, considering the worst part of all this that she didn't want to bring up... "but I have to warn you," she started slowly, he brow furrowing together with distress, "I don't have nice dreams," she said softly.
Sleep was when her guard was down, and that's when the demons knew she was vulnerable. If she practiced before falling asleep she could keep them at bay, but it didn't work every single time. She wasn't sure if she wanted Natalia to join in that wasteland she was privy to at night. "But... I can prepare myself before falling asleep too, I think. You know, since I learned about that stuff," she added, somewhat awkwardly.

Exactly seven days from now. Natalia did the math in her head – not that it was difficult – and double-checked her memory of her schedule at the hospital to be double sure that she wasn’t working before nodding slowly. “That sounds like a good idea.” Nat said. “I haven’t been able to stay in people’s dreams for very long yet – one or two minutes, really – but a lot can happen in that time.” Originally Natalia had been meaning to reassure Andy that they wouldn’t really need the entire night for their meeting, but somehow it had turned into an assurance that the short amount of time that they did get would be eventful. Oh well. When Andy said the warning about not having nice dreams, Natalia’s insides twisted unpleasantly, and she had to bite her lip to hold back tears. It was at times like these that Nat felt like she had failed as a sister. Maybe if Nat hadn’t been so distant when they were younger, Andy wouldn’t have so many demons to fight now. “Can I hug you?” Nat asked quietly. It wasn’t normally something that she would ask of Andy – Nat was getting better at just allowing herself to be taken up by her emotions and do what she felt like doing – but it felt important to ask permission. “If the dreams aren’t nice, then we can face them together.” Natalia said. In a way, it would be a way for Nat to help Andy fight her demons the way she hadn’t been able to in January, when things were all going wrong.

Natalia said that she was good for next week, meaning she wasn't working the late or graveyard shift. Andy nodded with interest as her sister said that she hadn't been able to stay in dreams for more than two minutes or so, which made Andy's heart sink a little. But then Nat said a lot could happen in that time. "Well, maybe it's something we can figure out. I mean, it could be another thing you practice at. Staying longer.. if you wanted to," she suggested, not wanting to seem desperate. But any extra minute with Natalia was an extra minute that she wanted. Even if it was just in her subconscious, it was a real conversation. If she could remember it when she woke up.
Andy knew Nat would be worried about her comment with the not having good dreams thing, but she also was sure her sister wouldn't be surprised. This was Andy, after all. The girl whose brain was constantly trying to derail her. Nat offered to hug her... Or rather, asked if she could and Andy took in a deep breath, not realizing until now that maybe she did really need a hug right now. She nodded, lifting her arms up a little. Nat spoke of fighting the bad dreams together and Andy chuckled, "I see you've discovered one of my selfish reasons for wanting you there," she admitted softly. Natalia always had a way of knowing just what to do - at least, ever since they actually started caring for one another.

Natalia couldn’t help but laugh when her sister suggested working on staying in dreams longer. She hadn’t even yet confirmed that she could choose whose dreams she walked in on! It seemed like a very Gryffindor-ish thing to do, to keep making goals when the previous ones weren’t even achieved yet. It seemed illogical, but Nat found that she didn’t much mind the lack of logic. “One thing at a time.” She said when she was done laughing. “Once I can figure out how to get myself into your dreams, then we can work on staying longer.” Nat didn’t want to overextend herself, especially since there was no information on this subject and she didn’t know if there was anything that would cause her – or the other person whose dreams she was invading – harm.
Andy lifted her arms up for a hug, and Nat was all too happy to envelope her little sister in her arms. Hugs were nice, Nat thought. Especially with Andy. “Andromeda Karina Lestrange, do not call yourself selfish.” Natalia chastised in her very best older sister voice. “It’s not wrong to want people to help you.” The Ravenclaw said. They had both been helped by a fair few people, so Nat would have thought that the lesson would have sunk in by now. “Especially when those people want to help you, too.” It was a unique way of offering aid, yes, but Nat was hopeful that it would help both of the sister understand how to be better.

Natalia laughed and for a second Andy felt embarrassed by that, but then she let out a bit of a nervous chuckle, too. Nat suggested that she would have to do one thing at a time, which made sense. Andy nodded, "good idea," she agreed. But, really, Andy was never good at this one step at a time stuff. That's why January had been such a long and painful month. She was having trouble taking the proper steps.
Natalia chastised her for calling herself selfish, which made Andy smile. It was nice to hear that 'big sister voice', since it came from a place of caring that was still so new to the sisters. Andy wasn't sure if she'd ever consider it not new. Andy knew it wasn't wrong to want help, but she also knew that she had a hard time asking for it. "Well, then I happily accept the help, since you want to do it," she said, pulled back from her sister and giving a little nod.
She heard a loud roaring cheer come from the task and her eyes darted that direction, "how do you guess it's going?"

Nat smiled at Andy when her admonishment about taking things one at a time was met with the comment that it was a good idea. Natalia prided herself on having good ideas, but whose ego didn’t need stroking every once in a while? Nat’s smile only grew when Andy said that she accepted the help – happily, no less. “I will never not want to help you, Andy.” Natalia murmured as her sister pulled away from the hug. The days of acting as if Andy didn’t exist, or as if she was lesser because she wasn’t a good pureblood daughter like Natalia was, were over. Nat didn’t ever want to go back to a place where she could do that to her sister. As dark as it would be for their relationship, Nat was sure it would be even darker for her personally.
When the cheer rose from the stands of the task, it took all Nat had not to whip around or cover Andy’s ears or something. She knew how jumpy Andy could get around crowds, but she still wasn’t sure whether it was because of the people or the noise or something else. “If something horrible had happened, we would know.” Natalia replied calmly. “Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.” The cheer could be for all manner of things – it was even possible that it was the Hogwarts students cheering because one of the other Champions had failed, even if that was rude. “Do you want to go back and check?” Natalia suggested. If not, she would be just as content standing there and continuing to talk.

Nat said she would never stop wanting to help her and Andy felt like she had just sipped a cup of warm tea. Andy's mind crossed back to how things used to be for a moment, and how silly that all sounded now. Nat was her closest confident and support. And even though Andy had so many people on her side now, none of them were quite like her sister.
Nat said if it was something horrible they would know, and Andy appreciated her calmed tone. Her heart rate had picked up a little bit. Nat asked if she wanted to go back and check and Andy shook her head. She reached over and took Natalias hand. "Let's go get some tea, and talk about silly things like butterflies and the color pink," she chuckled.
And that's just what they did.
