@annelise The weather sucked, but that didn’t keep the one and only Lily Potter from doing her thing. Nothing could ever stop her from doing her thing. That would be like, preposterous if something did that. So yeah, out of the castle she went, even though it was a rainy-snow mix. She had initially ran out of the common room in just a t-shirt, but somebody (that somebody being the Fat Lady), apparently wasn’t fond of letting her out of the tower dressed as she was. Lily knew she could have bolted then and there, and the only repercussion would be getting back in later. That didn’t really tickle her fancy today though, so back in she went, and now had a jacket on. It was like having a third parent, past all the older cousins trying to stop her from doing certain things. This was her life after all, jeez.
The negativity bounced away as she did the same thing down the stairs and corridors, eventually bunny hopping down each step that led out the front entrance of the castle. The Fat Lady was right for once, it was cold and blustery out. Last thing she wanted was a cold to knock her out of commission for a few days. Being locked up in the hospital wing was worse than death in her opinion. And death was pretty bad apparently. Lily let out a loud chuckle at the thought of that never happening, because she was living forever. Duh.
Casually making her way across the grounds, she knew she had to keep her next advancement rather secretive. The goal of today was to climb trees after all. Not the ones that were way back in the forest; she had been up those ones already. No, she wanted to climb the tall pines that skirted the boundary between the school grounds and the woods. She realized one day while staring up at them, that they probably had a really good view of everything. Obviously that meant she had to climb them now. Stopping in front of one of the trees, she looked up at it once more. She had never attempted these ones before, so there would have to be a game plan. For now though, trying to guestimate how tall the darn thing was had to happen first. The last thing she needed to do was get stuck hundreds of feet in the air with no way to get down. She would find it funny. Everyone else? Not so much.

Anna was taking a break from studying. Granted, the more she tried to study, the more often she needed breaks, but she couldn't help it. Staying cooped up in the library or the common room all day just wasn't something that she was ever going to be able to do. She needed to be able to have fun and relax. So today she was going outside. She didn't really have any plans outside, except for walking around and maybe finding someone to talk to for a bit, but Anna was sure that something would happen. If not, she'd just go and seek out Oscar. He was always a good distraction when she was trying to keep herself from studying. It didn't take her long, wandering around the grounds, until she found someone with red hair like hers. Anna looked closely, trying to determine which family member it was (because honestly, it really just had to be one of them) and she recognized Lily. She seemed to be ... bouncing along? "Hey Lily!" Anna called, jogging to go catch up with her cousin. "What are you up to?" This had the potential to be quite fun. Lily wasn't really one to just sit around and do nothing. lily luna potter

@annelise Head cocked to one side, Lily continued her stare down with the pine tree in front of her. She simply couldn’t figure out how tall it was! The easiest way would have been to get a broom and fly up, getting a feel that way. Spending a lot of time in the air for Quidditch helped with her ability to guess distance and height. Both were integral in making sure she didn’t end up splattered all over the ground. That wouldn’t be the best way to hold up the family name in the sport. This tree was stumping her though, and Lily knew that the best way to figure out exactly how tall it stood was by climbing up it. The only problem was that then defeated the purpose of standing here and trying to figure out the height. She didn’t like losing fights to inanimate objects. It wasn’t exactly fair that their defense was that they couldn’t argue back.
Lily was snapped out of her debate of climbing this specific tree or not by someone calling her name. Oh good! Someone to help her figure out her mathematics. Tilting her head further around without moving her body, she noticed that it was Anna. That was even better. Now she could unfold all the details of her master plan without getting in trouble. “What’s up champ?” She called back, returning her gaze to the tree as she did so. “How far do you think I could see from the top of that tree?” Lily asked, still not breaking her stare from it. She giggled slightly at the fact that it rhymed. “Not that it matters. I’m climbing it either way.”

As Anna approached her cousin, she heard her question. Knowing that it was probably a formality and that Lily seemed quite distracted with the tree in front of her, Anna didn't answer her right away. It was only once she reached her cousin that she answered her question. "Oh you know. I was bored and walking around the grounds trying to find something to do so I don't have to feel guilty about not studying right now." At Lily's question, Anna too looked up at the tree. It was definitely a tall one, but she wasn't really knowledgeable when it came to knowing how far you could see from the top of a tree. "I don't know ... you'd probably be able to see most if not all of the grounds?" she guessed, not sure if Lily already knew or was just curious. Then she grinned. "Oh you are? Are you climbing all the way up to the top?" Or what's your plan?" Not that Anna really expected her to have a plan. Quite often Lily just seemed to do whatever caught her fancy. That was part of the fun of doing things with her cousin. Anna could never guess what she was going to do and often got dragged into it with her. She didn't fight that though. Anna had fun going on adventures with Lily. She glanced around and smiled when she didn't see anyone around. Anna knew that other people wouldn't be able to dissuade Lily from her decision, but this would be a lot more fun if they didn't get stopped in the middle by a professor. lily luna potter

@annelise Ooooh boredom. Lily could sympathize with Anna on that one. She hated that feeling. She hated that word. There was always something to do or be found around Hogwarts. Sometimes it took a little looking or moving to get to it, but it certainly wasn’t an impossible task. The best way to cure boredom was to find her. Duh. Everyone should have known that by now. “Well today is your lucky day then, ‘cause you just won the lottery when you found me,” Lily grinned. Finding her doing something had to be an immediate bonus to anyone’s day. Obviously only the ones daring to have fun stopped, but hey, their loss if they didn’t.
She turned her attention to the tree once again, still debating whether or not climbing was feasible without a little extra magical help. Anna pointed out that she would probably see most of the grounds, and Lily affirmed it by nodding her head ferociously. “Bear hug climb it until I get to the lower branches,” she stated matter-of-factly. Obviously that was the only way to get up to the actual fun part. From there it would an easy climb, at least from her experience with other pine trees. The upper branches would be weaker, though she wasn’t too worried about potentially snapping them with her weight. She was a small whippersnapper after all.
“Alright. Let’s do this,” Lily proclaimed, throwing up one arm into the air as she charged for the tree trunk. Jumping when she approached it, she tried to wrap her arms around it as best she could, but came a little short, smacking into it instead. Her arms were too tiny to shimmy her way up it. “Gimme a boost!” She called back to Anna, knowing full well that her cousin would come to her aid.

Anna laughed and smiled back when Lily told her she'd won the lottery by finding her. "Oh, I know. I'm excited to see what you have in store for me today," Anna teased. She loved messing around with her cousins, especially Lily. Lily could always get her to do things that not everyone else could. Anna's smile widened into a grin when Lily explained her plan. Bear hug it until she got to the lower branches? Oh, that was definitely something Anna was excited to see. She knew that Lily could be very determined when it came to her plans and doing things that she thought were fun, but she wasn't sure if this was possible. The trunk of the tree was wide and Anna just couldn't see Lily reaching all the way around it. "Okay. I'll see if I can't follow your example once you're up there," she replied, looking at the tree curiously. Obviously if Lily was determined to climb it, Anna was going to join her. She hadn't climbed a tree in a while. This would be fun. Lily ran for the tree, jumping and trying to latch on, but it obviously didn't work. Chuckling softly to herself, Anna moved forward beside her cousin. She entwined her fingers to connect her hands together, moving them close to Lily's foot. "Here, try standing on this," she said, trying to help give Lily a boost. Honestly though, Anna could envision this becoming quite funny. Especially if Lily decided she needed to stand on her shoulders or something. So be it, Anna was involved now and couldn't stop. lily luna potter

@annelise Excitement all around it was! She knew that her plan to climb the tree was a good one, and saying otherwise was silly. None of her ideas ever went wrong, they simply went off in different directions. Failure was not an option in her book. Life was too short, so making the most of it was the name of her game. So far that had yet to fail her anywhere. Hiccups here and there, sure, but nothing too detrimental yet. Not even getting turned into a werewolf could stop her, obviously. And that meant climbing a tree was super easy. Lily gave Anna a thumbs up as she said she would follow her lead up the tree. Bear hugging seemed like the best way to go about it right now, though that would come into contention within a minute or so. She had little arms attached to her little body, so getting a good enough grip was going to be an interesting feat to pull off. Again, as long as she made it to the lower branches then it would be a quick climb to the top.
The first attempt wasn’t necessarily a failure by any degree, more so a miscalculation on her part. As she had thought, the trunk was too wide for her to simply jump and latch on; and the boost she asked Anna for would be graciously accepted should she give it. Luckily Anna was getting into it too and cupped her hands near her foot. “Thanks kid!” Lily yipped as she stuck one foot into Anna’s outstretched hands. “And up we go,” she heaved as she forced her other leg even with the first and tried to reach higher on the trunk than she had managed before. Grabbing wildly, she managed to take hold of a firm piece of bark, and that seemed to be all she needed to advance further. Pulling her weight onto it, she swung her legs around the trunk and squeezed. It seemed like she was stuck on. The real trick was getting to the next step – the lower branches. “How am I doing? All I can do is make-out with the tree right now.”

Anna couldn't keep herself from laughing at her cousin's abysmal attempt to climb this tree. Naturally she wasn't going to give up. She wouldn't be Lily Potter if she gave up, but just watching her try was entertaining enough for Anna. When Lily used her hands as a boost, Anna tried to lift them to help Lily get even higher on the tree, but she didn't know if that was working. She took a few steps backward, taking a mental picture of the scene before her. Lily, her hands wrapped around a tree that was obviously too thick for her, several feet off the ground. It was definitely comical. She laughed at Lily's comment. "Well it looks like your having a good make-out session," she teased. "What is your plan now?" If Lily tried to jump, she might accidentally let go of the tree, but Anna couldn't see any good handholds for climbing up either. "If you can figure out how to do this, I might join you," Anna commented, though that was probably already assumed by now. Whenever she met up with Lily in the middle of one of her schemes, she seemed to get heavily involved in it. lily luna potter

@annelise Climbing the tree probably could have gone…better. It was an honest attempt, but as Lily bear hugged the thing to death, she was starting to feel her grip loosen and the bark breaking off beneath her fingers. Letting go for even a smidge of a second would probably result in sliding down the trunk and back to the ground. Regardless, Lily lurched her shoulders and arms in an upwards motion, almost like a breast-stroke while swimming, and managed to get slightly higher than she had been previously. Or was this where she had started her cling earlier? It was kinda hard to tell now. Anna said she was having a make-out session with the tree and Lily fought to bite back her laugh that so desperately wanted to erupt from inside her. With her little arms rapidly losing strength still, the fit of giggles that wanted to break free spelled the Gryffindor’s doom. The larger piece of bark that she had managed to attach her left hand to was peeling back, and so was her ability to jump higher. Anna added something about figuring out how to do this, but Lily was starting to think those impossible thoughts. The ones she didn’t really like floating around in her head. “Only a bit more…” she groaned to herself as she used her right hand to reach up towards the first thin branch.
Maybe if she wasn’t so hard headed, she would have realized that this was an impossible task with her size. Her hand moved through the air wildly, trying to grab onto the branch, but to no avail. The piece of bark that was holding her up by her other hand snapped off as she wiggled around on the trunk, and down she went. If the fall had been back and away from the tree, maybe it would have been better. But in all her wisdom, glory, and panic, Lily managed to reach out and grab back ahold of the tree. The problem with doing that while falling backwards was that upon landing on the ground, Lily could already feel the warm sensation of blood on her elbows and hands. Letting out an awkward laugh as she observed the scrapes, she glanced up at Anna. “Whoops! Accidents happen I guess…” Lily gingerly pulled a tiny piece of bark from her hand. “You any good at those healing spells?”

This whole situation was ... simultaneously hilarious and heart-breaking. Okay, maybe heartbreaking wasn't the right word, but it definitely wasn't easy for Anna to watch her cousin struggle so hard to climb the tree. Really though, Anna was starting to doubt her previous interest in joining Lily if she actually made it to the first branch. Sure, it would be fun to climb this tree, but not if it took so much effort for her to get to the lowest branch. Anna would much rather find a different one. She shook her head when she heard Lily muttering "only a bit more" to herself. This was not going to be pretty. Then, Lily was suddenly falling, but trying to grab the tree instead as she fell. Did she think that would stop the momentum? Really, all Anna could do was watch and cringe a little. She nodded at her cousin's comment about accidents. "Yeah, they do," Anna muttered, kneeling down beside Lily. "I know a few," she answered. "Let me go ahead and see if I can help you out a bit." After her experiences in the First Task, Anna studied a bit about healing. She wasn't a professional by any means, but she knew how to deal with small cuts and scrapes and such. She waved her wand in the direction of her cousin, smiling when she saw the spell working. "That feel any better?" she asked. lily luna potter

@annelise Anna, the wonderful human being and champion that she was, was apparently quick on her feet too, because Lily had barely hit the ground and her cousin was at her side. That’s what family was for, after all. Albus probably would have laughed at her for a few seconds before helping out. Though in her defense, she would have done the same to him. Her cousins were more caring in the moment than her brothers were. Anna said she could fix her up, and Lily held her hands away from her clothes. They were easily worse off than her elbows were. She really wanted to keep peeling back the ripped skin to see exactly how big the scrapes were, just so she could have a story to tell. The best part would be bragging for Anna’s sake. “You’re a real champ, you know that?” Lily laughed as she waited. The spell didn’t take long, and soon everything was back to normal. “It’s almost like magic…” she whispered as she hopped to her feet again.
Clapping her hands together just to put the emphasis on the fact that they were healed, she turned back to face her cousin. “So new plan to get up there. I think if I get on your shoulders I should be able to reach those branches,” she pointed at the one she had been reaching for only moments before falling. "And then I can stick myself to the tree with this nifty spell someone showed me the other day and pull you up as well.” Flawless. Absolutely flawless in her mind. Anna was probably going to try and talk her down from it, but her mind was made up already. Trial and error was a part of life after all.

Anna rolled her eyes when Lily started to compliment her healing “abilitites”. It wasn’t the first time that the two got into a situation like this where one of them got scraped up, but this was the first time that Anna could do anything about it and she was glad. Helping her cousin with minor scrapes was a good way to practice and it made her feel accomplished, in a way. “It’s no big deal, Lily,” Anna mumbled with a smile, glad to see that the spells were working. She laughed when Lily said it was like magic. Her cousin really was a piece of work, but Anna loved it. She braced herself as Lily stood up and turned to face her, obviously having another plan already. Anna listened, a smile on her face. She couldn’t help herself. Lily’s plans were normally ridiculous, but eventually they wielded the results she wanted. Mostly because she was too stubborn to give up. She loved the idea though. Standing on shoulders to reach and then sticking herself to the branch so she could pull Anna up. At least she didn’t plan on leaving Anna on the ground. “Alright,” she said, laughing and shaking her head. “I’m probably going to regret this, but let’s go for it.” Anna moved closer to the tree, so she was standing under the branch that Lily was going for. “Whenever you’re ready,” she said confidently. lily luna potter

@annelise Healing her up wasn’t a big deal. Exactly! Helping people out was super cool, and Lily was always an advocate of others helping her. She got into all sorts of trouble and always had some kind of knight in shining armor come to her aid. At first she had thought it was because she was a Potter and people wanted to get their grubby little hands and business all up in hers. But now she knew they were just nice people. Or at least most of them were. Anybody could be made into a good person with a little polishing. “Well thanks regardless! Wouldn’t want to get blood all over my clothes. I already rip them up during the full moon,” she let out an awkward laugh. Waking up naked in the woods was bad enough (or good, depending on the person), and finding her clothes ripped to shreds on occasion always put a damper on things. She had wizened up and tossed extras elsewhere. Probably the wolf just going through puppy stages or something.
Anna barely even had to say ‘Alright’ for Lily to squirm with excitement. Of course she was going to help her climb the tree. That was what cousins were for. While Anna wasn’t normally her go to partner in crime, Lily knew that the other Gryffindor would have a tough time saying no to her when it came down to it. And it wasn’t like climbing a tree was that inherently dangerous. “Lalalala I can’t hear you. No such thing as regretting,” Lily plugged her ears with her fingers. “You wouldn’t say that about the tournament, would you?” Walking over to her cousin, she stared up at the lowest branch once again. She was positive that she could get to it this time. Taking her wand out, she put her hands on Anna’s shoulders and started to climb. “Up I go…” Wand placed between her teeth, she managed to get her knees to Anna’s shoulders before needing to use the sticky spell. Blasting both hands, she bit her wand back off the one since it was trying to cement to her hand. Now all she had to do was jump and land on the tree, and then climb. Easy enough.

Anna merely laughed when her cousin thanked her again. Of course, she believed that Lily was grateful, but for some reason listening to her cousin apologize just made Anna want to laugh. Besides that, she didn't know what to say to Lily's comment about ripping her clothes during the full moon. Really, there wasn't anything that Anna could do about that or even say, so she let the subject drop. Lily's enthusiasm was contagious ... and extremely evident when Anna agreed to help her. She was practically bouncing with it! Anna was used to that sort of reaction from her younger cousin, but she still smiled at it. That was one of the things that Anna loved about her, her excitement for anything and everything. Naturally Lily wouldn't listen to Anna's warning, but that wasn't a surprise either. Anna took a deep breath and sighed, then looking at her cousin curiously when she mentioned that she wouldn't say that about the tournament. "What, that I wouldn't regret the tournament?" Anna asked curiously. She didn't really understand what Lily was getting at with that comment, but she tried to stand still as Lily climbed on her. "Hurry up Lily or else we're both going to fall over," she warned after a few seconds. She wasn't particularly used to carrying another person. lily luna potter

@annelise “Do you regret entering?” Lily asked, trying to make some kind of conversation while she climbed her cousin. She had to be doing a million different things at once to be able to concentrate on the most important one, which was climbing the tree right now. That wasn’t supposed to make sense to anyone else other than her, and she had a difficult time explaining that sometimes. Usually a lot of hand waving and talking a mile a minute accompanied it. “I wish I could have entered. Stupid age-line. I think I would have looked pretty darn good as an old lady. Still have some spring in my step!” She laughed at her own joke. Finally reaching up with her now sticky spelled hands, Lily planted one on the tree trunk. She pulled back on it to see how much resistance there was, happy to find that she could remove her hand with enough force and place it higher if she wanted to. “Oh!” she yelled down as she stuck her other hand onto the tree. “How funny would it have been if I got named the fourth champion? Then I’d be just like dad.” The funnies part would be that he wouldn’t have found that funny.
Acknowledging that Anna was ready to fall over if she didn’t hurry up, Lily continued her climb until her knees were lifted off the other Gryffindor’s shoulders. “Okay, now I really got this,” she affirmed to herself through wand and gritted teeth. Little and wiry as she was, Quidditch had given her some kind of upper body strength to make this slightly easier than it normally would have been. Oh, and there was that werewolf enhancing thing, but she liked to credit her own merits before that. Wrapping her legs around the tree like she had done the first time, Lily moved hand over hand, shimmying her way up to the first branch. Before putting her weight on it, so made sure to give it a good tug with one hand, just to make sure it would be stable enough. It was. Up she went, planting her butt on it. Wand spat out of her mouth, she de-stuck her hands. “Your turn!” she called down to Anna. “How should we do this? I think I’ve levitated a person before…” Nah, she hadn’t. But a little confidence was better than none.
