He merely nodded when she said that he would know more than she would. "We'll be fine," he added, though he didn't really sense any hesitation from Zita. More than anything else she seemed excited to go into the Shrieking Shack and Edmund was glad about that. It meant that he hadn't made a mistake in asking her to join him. He could only imagine how annoying it would be to go to the shack and be stuck with someone who was terrified of it. At least Zita seemed interested and brave enough. He'd have to see if that held though. He shrugged when she asked if he was "that much of a loner". "I don't try and chase people away," he started thoughtfully, "But I haven't always been particularly kind to people and sometimes I have a hard time controlling my temper. Mostly I just watch other people do things instead of joining in ... but I don't really watch specific people, just everyone. It's not as creepy as it sounds, I promise," he said, though he wasn't quite sure if she'd believe him. It sounded pretty creepy no matter how he said it. "I have a few good friends. Addilyn Slater is one of them. We do a lot together." He nodded when she said that she mostly liked the Three Broomsticks. "And it's nice to just be able to get out of the castle, right?" he asked with an easygoing smile. Then they were at the fence. "Here we go. You sure you're ready for this? Not going to back out or freak out on me, right?" He was teasing, but a part of Ed was serious as well. He hoped she would answer the way he wanted.

The Hufflepuff gave a firm nod though she snickered once again when he assured her that they would be fine. She didn't doubt it but all of his reassurances would have made anyone else think twice about what they were about to do. She could understand why; they were about to go into a mostly abandoned old shack and more cautious people would be thinking about all of the things that could go wrong. While the walk wasn't too terrible, it would still give people plenty of time to rethink their decision of going through with it. Zita had no such thoughts going on in head while walking though. She just wanted to know what was on the inside now. He then proceeded to answer her question, saying that he didn't chase people away but he wasn't particularly friendly, which was the same way she saw herself. She knew she could have a bit of a temper at times and she knew she could be argumentative which did sometimes tend to run people off. "Could have fooled me," she teased easily though when he added in that his people watching wasn't as creepy as it sounded. And it did sound creepy the way he stated it. "I agree, the castle starts to feel too cramped after a while. Which is weird because the place is huge but it is nice to get out. " She got out sometimes, whether that meant going to Hogsmeade or just hanging around the castle grounds, sometimes it was necessary. It wasn't too long after that they reached the fence of the shack and it stood in front of them, old and looking like it should fall apart at any moment. He decided it was a good time to ask her if she would back out now and she laughed. "Come on, come on. This anticipation is deadly," she said as she waved him forward. She did say she'd let him take the lead. She was just there as aid if they got hurt.

Edmund laughed and shook his head when she teased him. Honestly, he was surprised by how easy it was to talk to this girl. Normally he only felt this comfortable when he was talking to close friends, but it was a nice thing. He didn't say anything else about his people watching. If he tried to say anything else, he'd probably just make it seem like he was a crazy stalker or something, even though he really wasn't. It was a better idea to just let the subject drop, he was sure.He nodded when she agreed that the castle felt cramped sometimes. "Exactly. Even just for a walk around the grounds, but I'm sure this is going to be more fun." He looked forward, at the Shrieking Shack again, excitement rising. He just wanted to get in there already! They reached the fence and Zita started telling him to go. Ed grinned at her and climbed over the fence. It wasn't a super big one and he didn't really want to waste time looking for the gate ... besides, climbing it was more fun. He waited for her to join him, then walked up to the door and turned to grin at Zita. "Here goes," he said, pushing it open, but nothing happened. He frowned and looked at her as he tried to push it open again. Nothing.
@zita (I'M SO SORRY! I lost this thread somehow .... sorry it took ages for me to answer. I'll be better. Promise)

Zita held her breath just as Edmund gave a good-natured “here goes” and she watched his hand press against the door. It didn’t move. Nothing happened. Her brow furrowed. And then she gave a laugh, thinking that he was just joking around with her, playing some sort of prank. "Nice try Edmund but you’ll have to try a little bit harder than tha-" as she spoke she extended her own arms to the wooden door and was met with a solid force, one that didn’t budge even an inch under the force she exerted. She pressed her shoulder against the door and tried to press a bit harder into it, maybe the door was just a bit heavy or stuck from being closed for so long and she just needed to put a little more effort into to pushing it to get it open. Digging her shoulder into the wood she quickly realized she wasn’t getting anywhere with trying to open it so she took a step back and exhaled a sigh of breath. "Well. This is definitely the last thing I expected to happen when I came up here. Do you know why the door won’t open? she looked at the Slytherin boy curiously. He’d admittedly come to the Shrieking Shack a lot more than she had so maybe he might have seen something about it that might give the two of them an explanation. Maybe it was sealed by magic? Maybe there was something important inside that someone wanted to keep hidden. That made here even more interested in going into the interior. The door just wouldn’t budge though. There had to be someone around who’d been in the old shack that knew why the door didn’t open. Even if it was creepy she was certain they weren’t the first people to have tried going in.

Zita laughed, obviously thinking he was messing around and he moved out of her way, since he could tell she wanted to try now. She teased him as she reached forward to open the door, but it wouldn't open for her either. Edmund frowned. Why wouldn't the door open? When Zita stopped pushing against the door, he pulled out his want. "Alohomora," he muttered, before reaching forward and trying again. Stupid door. Why wasn't it working? He was sure that his frustration was showing on his face. He shook his head at her question, "No. This is ridiculous." He glared at the door before looking back up at her. "I've never tried to get in before, and I obviously wasn't expecting this to happen." His voice was low and frustrated and he wished he knew why this wasn't working. He sighed, realizing that being frustrated did nothing to help their situation. "So do you want to try and find another way in or go back," he jerked his thumb over his shoulder to gesture back to where they'd come from. He was annoyed, but if she wanted to try another way in, he would. He felt bad for getting her all excited about something that didn't work.

Zita watched as Edmund took out his own wand and tried to see the door would unlock with a simple charm, something she'd been about to try herself. Nothing happened at his muttered spell and he seemed just as frustrated as her about the newest development. He tried once again to open the door with his hand and it still hadn't even moved from it's shut position a little. The fact that it didn't unlock with the unlocking charm really meant that either someone didn't want them to get into the old shack or that the shack had always just been there for show and there wasn't really anything on the inside. Her eyebrows furrowed in equal frustration as he spoke, looking back and forth between the door and Edmund. She still really did want to go inside just to prove one of her two theories but she didn't think they would get anywhere with that goal right now. So when he asked her if she wanted to try to find another way in or to go back, she had to pause and think on it for a moment too long. She'd been really excited about seeing what was inside. And even though she had been joking earlier about them getting her and her having to patch them back up, she didn't know if this would prove to really be something dangerous or not. She sighed then. "Maybe we can try some other time? I don't know if that's a good sign or a bad sign that we can't get in but maybe we can just go back to the Three Broomsticks and hang a bit more." She was disappointed in having to say that but the truth remained that they weren't getting into the Shrieking Shack today. She waved before she headed back to the pub, hoping he was behind her. Disappointing, yes, but at least she had surprisingly good company.
