The Second Task was a big deal. Everyone in the school was so excited by the activity, which was a good thing for Kinsey. The atmosphere in the school was a positive one and she felt extremely relieved by that fact. When everyone was so excited it was much easier to spend time in big groups and to join in, which was good because this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Kinsey had no intention of missing any of the tasks. At the moment, she was sitting in the stands, ready to cheer for the Hogwarts Champion, Anna Weasley. Kins didn’t really know much about the girl, but she did know that she was a Gryffindor and one of Dustin’s friends. For that reason alone Kinsey would cheer for her. The champion from Durmstrang was entering the arena and Kinsey was interested to see how he did, but she was really just curious to see how well her brother’s friend would do. She glanced around, but wasn’t really sitting by people she knew well. Kinsey had come down early so she could get a good seat and hadn’t worried about who she was sitting by. She didn’t mind that though. It was easier to focus on the tournament on her own.

Dustin had decided to come to Hogwarts for the Second Task. He had the day off, and with everything that had been happening lately, he just wanted a day where he could really enjoy himself. He was hoping that he’d be able to talk to Anna later, after the task was over. Dustin had some things to say to her… but first, he wanted to actually watch the task, because he knew that Anna was going to do fabulously. Arguably even better than getting to see Anna, though, was getting to see Kinsey. Dustin loved all of his sisters, but he was fairly certain that of all of them, Kinsey needed him the most. The twins and triplets all had each other, but Kinsey just had herself… and she wasn’t all that great trusting people who weren’t her, making it even harder for her to make friends. Dustin worried for her. But he was going to get to see her today, so it was all good! Dustin had a hard time trying to find Kinsey at first, but when he stopped focusing so hard, he found that it was easier to spot him in his periphery. Dustin approached his sister from behind, and then tapped his sister on the shoulder without saying anything, wide smile on his face at the prospect of surprising her.

So ... maybe sitting by herself hadn't been the best decision. Sure, it meant that no one would bother Kinsey and that she'd be able to watch the Task uninterrupted, but it also meant that when nothing really interesting was happening or when she was bored she had no one to talk to. Oops. Kinsey looked around herself and sighed when she noticed how happy everyone was as they chattered back and forth with one another. She'd have to remember this for the Third Task. Mental note: Don't come alone. She jumped, gasping slightly when she felt someone tap her shoulder, and then turned around, a little annoyed. She was trying to be bored here, duh! Besides, who would be- "Dustin!" She squealed, jumping to her feet and throwing her arms around his neck in a tight hug. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming? How long have you been here? Oooh I can't believe you're here!" She enthused, as only a teenage girl can. Gone was the reserved Kinsey that most of the school always saw. "You're going to sit with me, right?" she asked as she pulled away with a grin. She couldn't help it. He was here!

His sister’s reaction to his being there was worth all of the trouble of picking through the crowd and keeping his visit from her. Dustin grinned at Kinsey as she threw her arms around his neck, hugging her back tightly. “I didn’t tell you because then you wouldn’t have done that!” Dustin teased, laughing a little. He was excited, and seeing his sister was already making him feel a little bit lighter. “Better believe it, baby sister, because I’m not leaving any time soon.” Dustin replied. “Actually, that’s a lie. I’ll be right back!” Dustin said. He had seen that they were selling some snacks in the stands, and he was famished. Dustin had to force himself not to think about the fact that he was going to be chowing down while watching people put in potentially life-threatening situations, because that made him sound like an awful person. Dustin flipped a Galleon to some guy selling bags of popcorn, and took one of the largest bags he offered, figuring that a Galleon was more than enough to cover it. Dustin returned to Kinsey, not having heard her question about sitting with her. He offered her the bag of popcorn, already shoving a handful of the snack into his mouth as he did so.

She laughed as he hugged her back. She loved getting hugs from her big brother. He seemed so happy to be here with her, which was good because that's how she wanted to see him. She gave him a fake glare when he teased her. "I always give you a big hug when I see you. How was that any different," she answered loftily, teasing him back. She knew perfectly well that she didn't always get that excited when she saw him. She grinned when he said that he wasn't leaving ... and then changed his mind and hurried away. "Hey! Where are you going?" she called after him, only a little concerned. He wouldn't keep it all a big secret to surprise her and then walk away before they got the chance to do anything. He wouldn't. She sat down, impatiently waiting for him to return. When he did, he had popcorn. Kinsey rolled her eyes and took a handful. "I should have known you'd go after the popcorn. You never can resist this stuff," she teased, smiling over at him. She still couldn't believe he was here.

Dustin smiled at Kinsey when she asked him her question. She might have thought that she greeted him the same way every time, but he could read the minute differences between the hugs pretty easily, since he had years of practice under his belt. When he returned with their snack, Kinsey didn’t seem too mad at him for disappearing without an explanation, though she seemed a bit exasperated with his penchant for popcorn. She said something about him not being able to resist it, and Dustin shrugged. “There are a lot worse things to be addicted to, Kins.” He informed her. Plenty of Quidditch players had problems with abusing potions and the like, so the fact that Dustin’s Achilles’s heel was just popcorn was pretty good, as far as he was concerned. Dustin peered at the screen that showed what the Champion was doing. “You know anything about him?” Dustin asked, gesturing to the image of the Greyback kid with a fistful of popcorn. He knew Kinsey wasn’t really one for making friends, but it was still better to assume that she had some sort of connections within the school. Otherwise Dustin just got worried again.

She rolled her eyes, "I know, I know. And at least you can share your addiction with people like me instead of keeping it all to yourself. That's a good sign." She smiled at him as she grabbed more pocorn out of the bag, winking. Dustin seemed to be focused on the screen in front of them and then he asked a question about the Durmstrang Champion. Kinsey shrugged, "I've never spoken with him," she started, though she doubted her brother would find that surprising. "Well, I'm sure you already heard about what happened in the First Task with him," she shuddered, the image of the flesh eating slugs coming back momentarily. "He went to the Yule Ball with a high-and-mighty Beauxbatons girl and his best friend from home can make fire on her hands." Kins thought for a moment. "He seems nice enough, I think. Do you know anything about him?" she asked, looking over at her brother.

Dustin snorted when Kinsey said that he could share his addiction with other people. “It’s a good sign that I can share?” He asked dubiously. If anything, it should be worrying that he was trying to get other people hooked on the ambrosia that was overly-buttered popcorn. Kinsey was right, though, that it was good that he didn’t have the entire bag of popcorn to himself. He definitely would eat it all, and then he’d pay for it later when he felt like his stomach was about to explode. Kinsey said that she had never spoken to Elias, and Dustin nodded. That wasn’t unexpected. His sister said he knew what happened to the Durmstrang boy in the First Task, and Dustin nodded. He had watched that one extremely closely. Dustin nodded along when Kinsey said something about Elias going to the Yule Ball with a Beauxbatons boy, but then spat out his popcorn when she said that his best friend from home could make fire with her hands. “What!?” He shouted, his exclamation only hidden by the fact that others still seemed to be making idle chatter. Dustin knew that things that were unnatural were common in the Wizarding world – he could talk to birds, for Merlin’s sake – but fire hands? Fire hands? It was a good thing he was already sitting, because Dustin would have needed to sit down after hearing that news. He didn’t even hear what Kinsey said after that. “Fire hands, Kins. What the hell?” He muttered, more to himself than to her. That was so weird.

Kinsey laughed at Dustin's obvious confusion, but nodded repeatedly. "Yes it's good. It means you're not dangerously addicted," she explained, not sure if he would understand that. Well, with people who got addicted to potions whenever they got it they kept it for themselves. Dustin sharing meant that it was more an obsession than an addiction, which was good in her mind. He didn't seem surprised by anything that she said about the Durmstrang Champion ... Elias, she remembered. That was his name. Then she laughed when he spat out his popcorn. "Good thing I got a seat on the front row, or you'd have some very not-happy people at your right now, Dus," she teased. Then he exclaimed what and she teased him some more, "Well, you see, you just spat your popcorn everywhere. They probably wouldn't have liked that, you know." He seemed to calm down a little, muttering about fire hands. She shrugged. "I haven't met the girl. I think her name is Maria though. She's really protective of the Champion." That was what she heard, though she didn't know why the girl was labeled that way. "You okay?" she asked, teasing him yet again. She couldn't help it! She hadn't seen him in ages.

Dustin shook his head when Kinsey said that he wasn’t dangerously addicted. That was a very objective assessment. Dustin would breathe popcorn if he could. It was a good thing, as Kinsey pointed out, that they had a seat in the front row. Some Hogwarts students could get tetchy when they had half-chewed popcorn in their hair. And if the girl with the fire hands happened to be one of those people… Dustin shuddered. He did not want to be burned because he couldn’t control his shock. “Waste of popcorn.” Dustin muttered forlornly, though he was taking solace in the fact that at least he was the only one having a bad time because of said wasted popcorn, and it wasn’t all over someone else. Kinsey said she hadn’t met the fire girl, whose name might have been Maria, but that she was famous for being protective of the Durmstrang Champion. “Protective enough that she would burn someone if they beat him in a competition?” He asked uncertainly. He didn’t want Anna to get hurt for beating Elias. (The Beauxbatons boy he didn’t care about. Maria could burn him if she really wanted to.)

Kinsey smiled at Dustin's obvious disappointment over his loss of popcorn. He could be so silly, and that was part of the reason she loved him so dearly. She reached over and rubbed his back for a second. "Don't worry, if you run out of popcorn, I'll get you some more to help satisfy your addiction." Hopefully that would make him not worry about it ... though was one mouthful really that big of a deal? At his next question, Kinsey thought for a moment before answering his question. "I doubt it. After all, she didn't attack anyone for beating him out in the First Task and he came in last place. Besides that, if she did attack someone she would definitely get herself into trouble, so I doubt she would think of it as worth it. I think she just doesn't like people messing around with her cousin." Or something like that. Kinsey wasn't entirely sure why Dustin was worried though. Was he that close with Anna? Her head cocked to the side, "Are you thinking about Anna?" she asked.

Kinsey said that if they ran out of popcorn they’d get more, and Dustin narrowed his eyes at her. “Don’t be an enabler, Kins.” He teased her. And then there was the question of whether or not they’d actually ever run out of popcorn. The bag he had grabbed had obviously been made for sharing, but as Dustin was looking at it more, he wondered if it was meant for sharing with an entire group of people – hence why it had handy (if somewhat flimsy) handles on either side of it. Dustin was hungry, and loved popcorn, but his stomach did have a limit. Kinsey said that she didn’t think that Maria was going to hurt anyone for beating Elias, but Dustin was still somewhat suspicious. “Maybe she’s biding her time.” He said, narrowing his eyes slightly, as if somehow that would help him see the future and determine whether or not Maria was a threat. Kinsey asked if he was thinking about Anna, and Dustin nodded. “Do I look like a care about French boys with over-inflated egos?” He asked her with a snort. The Beauxbatons Champion was barely a blip on his radar, other than the fact that he was beating Anna so far.

Kinsey giggled as he teased her, "I couldn't say no to you if I wanted Dus," she responded. Even if he didn't ask her for popcorn, just knowing he wanted more would drive her to get it. He looked down at the bag of popcorn and she did too, realizing for the first time how big it was. Hopefully they wouldn't need more. "Though I don't think you should eat more than half this bag," Kinsey added slowly, still teasing him. She made a face when he said Maria could be biding her time. "I doubt it. She doesn't really seem like the patient type," she said. Not that Kinsey spent tons of time watching the girl, but from what she'd heard and just seeing her around, she just didn't seem that way. She gave a soft laugh. "I was just making sure," she teased lightly, looking back to the screen. Elias was still going, though she had no idea which arena he was one. She hadn't been paying enough attention to that. "Soooooo ... how are you? Other than delighted to be here with me, of course," Kinsey laughed at her own joke, turning her attention to her brother.

Dustin cocked his head at Kinsey when she said that she couldn’t say no to him if she wanted to. “No one can say not to his face, Kins, don’t worry.” Dustin said with a chuckle. He was hiding his worry, though. He sometimes wondered if he let Kinsey get away with depending on him too much. He understood why she wasn’t quick to trust anyone, but eventually, there was going to come a day where he wasn’t around. That had already happened to some degree, but when Kinsey graduated, and she was working, too? There was no way they were going to be see each other as much as she probably needed to remain sane. Dustin sighed. Being the oldest child was a bit of a burden sometimes, he thought. Kinsey said that Maria didn’t seem like the patient type, and that Anna was probably fine, and Dustin just stared at her. Kinsey had just said that she hadn’t ever spoken to Maria, so how did she know about the girl’s patience, or lack thereof? Before he could ask that, Kinsey asked how he was, and Dustin shrugged. “Being an adult is annoying.” And having an ex-girlfriend and a lot of friends was annoying, too. It was all so damn hard!

Kinsey laughed and rolled her eyes at her older brother. “Just you wait. One of these days you’ll meet someone who can and then you won’t know what to do with yourself,” she teased. Spending time like this with her brother was so relaxing and just felt right. Kinsey missed him since he’d left school, but she was also extremely proud of him for all that he was doing. He was an amazing Quidditch player. He stared at her for a moment before answering her question and Kinsey watched him curiously, cocking her head to the side. “Why? I mean … if you want to talk about it.” She never tried to force Dustin to do anything. She was sure he probably got enough of that from their other sisters- especially Cara- and she had no intention of becoming like her older sister.
