Kinsey needed to stop. She needed to get away from her books and actually do something instead of sitting at this table, moving from subject to subject. Despite the fact that she was always on top of her homework, there was still a bunch to do, which was entirely ridiculous. Studying was great and wonderful and she loved it dearly, but Kinsey was tired. She felt exhausted and worn out. She knew there was a carnival nearby but she couldn't go. Not until she had things sorted out. At least, that's what she kept on telling herself. Still, she knew the real reason she hadn't gone yet was because she didn't want to be around so many people. Not on her own.
The common room was empty, which was a relief to Kinsey. She was sure that everyone else was already at the carnival or outside or something, enjoying something else. She had more important things to do, she kept telling herself. Eventually she groaned and laid her head down on the table in front of her with a thunk. This was not working. She didn't even realize that someone else was in the room.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @kinsey words 210 notes Yay Kinsey and Cameron. | Cameron had been doing homework in the library. He didn’t realize how long he had been in there until he heard the growl in his stomach. He gathered up his books and went to the kitchens for something to eat since he had missed the last meal in the Great Hall. After eating he went back upstairs to the Ravenclaw Tower. It took a while to get up there because some of the stairs kept moving and he had to wait till they moved back. Groaning at the last staircase that moved back he walked up to the entrance that was the Ravenclaw Common Room.
The riddle was asked and he gave his answer. He went inside rubbing his face to wake himself back up. He figured he would get a little more homework done before he went upstairs to read a book. He noticed Kinsey Bainbridge there. He knew she was a year ahead of him. They were good friends. He sat at a table as she hadn’t seen him yet. He wondered why she hadn’t gone to the carnival. He was looking at a book when he heard a noise in the room and looked up seeing Kinsey’s head on the table. Everything okay Kinsey he asked her.

Kinsey jumped when she heard someone speaking from behind her. She spun around and then smiled when she realized who it was. "Oh, Cam," she said with a smile. "you scared me."She paused for a moment before adding. "I don't remember you coming in; how long have you been here?" It wasn't really that big of a deal, but she was curious. How had she not noticed him coming in? Kinsey looked around the room curiously, trying to see if anyone else sneaked in without her noticing.
"Why aren't you at the carnival?" She asked after a moment. Sure, with people she didn't know Kinsey was quiet and reserved, but she and Cameron had been friends for years. She didn't have to hide herself around him. Granted, he didn't know her secret, about her ability, but only her family knew about that. That was their agreement, to not tell anyone else about it. If she was allowed to tell people, it was extremely likely that Cameron would be one of the few she'd tell.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @kinsey words 244 notes Yay Kinsey and Cameron. | He hadn’t meant to scare Kinsey. He had been concerned when he saw her head on the table after hearing the thunk sound. He sighed running a hand through his hair. He pushed his glasses back up a little so they wouldn’t fall off. I am sorry that wasn’t my intention Kinsey he said. She had asked him when did he get there. He thought for a moment and how long he had been up there. Maybe ten minutes at the most. Not long though. Why he said. He wondered if the reason he had scared her with his question was because she didn’t know that he had been there at all. He had been used to people not noticing him though so he was okay with that.
She asked him why he wasn’t at the carnival. His first thought was he got lost in his studies but he never planned to go anyway. Too many people there, some he didn’t know. It was too much noise for one person to handle. It wasn’t like quidditch when you had the wind in your face and all the noise from the students cheering or booing was some ways down below. He would have been amid all the noise and he wouldn’t have liked it. He shrugged and said I got lost in my studies at first, but I wasn’t going anyway. Too much noise for me really. What about you though, why didn’t you go?

As she looked at Cameron, he seemed ... concerned or something. Then again, he did just ask her if she was alright, so that probably had something to do with it. "You're fine, you just took me by surprise." Then he said he'd been in the room for about ten minutes and she felt bad. She'd really ignored him for ten minutes? "I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were here. I was kind of in my own world ..." She shook her head. "Well in the future you should announce yourself to me. I don't mind being interrupted by friends, you know," she teased with a wide smile.
He thought for a moment at her question and Kinsey watched him curiously before waving her wand to clean up the things she'd been studying with before moving to sit with him at his table. She nodded at his answer and then he turned the question back on her. "About the same. I was studying and enjoying the quiet here." She paused a moment. "Not that I don't want you here! It's just ... it's way more peaceful with most everyone gone, so I thought I'd take advantage of that." She made a face at him. "So what are we going to do now, since we're too boring to go to the carnival," she teased.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @kinsey words 252 notes Yay Kinsey and Cam. The teasing and the smile threw him off. | He smiled. She was always so kind. Still I am sorry he said. He smiled and shrugged when she apologized for not noticing him earlier. It’s okay. I have done that other times as well when studying or thinking. Guess that’s why we are in Ravenclaw right he said. The next part made him blush a little. That was the whole point of him coming in quietly while she was studying. He hadn’t wanted to interrupt her quiet time. He sighed but nodded saying okay next time I promise I will make myself known.
He hadn’t expected her to come sit at his table. He really expected that they would go back to studying but this was a nice adjustment to study. It is nice and quiet here. You don’t always get that sometimes he said with a sigh. He nodded and said I agree. The room is a lot more quieter and it is something to appreciate when it happens. He shrugged at her question. I don’t know. The only hobby I have is quidditch and chess, but that is an interesting question he said trying to think of something. He thought and thought for a minute wondering what they could do. Most everyone was at the carnival. He turned and looked at her. Anything in particular you want to do that doesn’t involve the carnival, unless you change your mind and do want to go that is he said fumbling over his words. He tried to pretend it never happened.

Cameron was so sweet. He’d always been sweet, which was part of the reason that Kinsey appreciated his friendship so much. His sincerity was adorable and … uncommon. Lots of people would lie to people or try to manipulate or trick them for some reason that Kinsey was sure they found justifiable somehow. She’d never sensed anything like that from Cam, which drew her to him. She nodded, “Yeah, it’s a good thing we’re both from Ravenclaw. That way we understand one another and don’t take offense for getting ignored.” He seemed simultaneously embarrassed and pained when he promised he’d let her know when he entered a room. Kinsey gave a small laugh and cocked her head at him, not understanding why he sighed, almost as if he was … disappointed? “Unless you don’t want to. That wasn’t a requirement, you know.” She didn’t want him to feel forced to do anything, even if it was just to approach her. If he didn't feel comfortable, he shouldn't feel like he had to.
She nodded when he said that he liked the quiet. “Yes, it’s definitely a nice change,” she agreed. He seemed disappointed that the common room wasn’t often quiet and Kinsey shrugged. “I know a few good quiet spots, if you want somewhere better to study." She’d found them years ago, when avoiding her sister was more important to her than confronting her and Kins had no problem sharing them. He started mentioning his hobbies and Kinsey listened and smiled again. “You’re more fun than me. I don’t really have any hobbies, so I’m happy doing whatever you want.” Kinsey’s hobbies included … studying, playing with her owl and going on walks. That was about it. She liked quidditch, but hadn’t made it onto the team this year. Maybe next year. However, his last comment drew her curiosity- partly because he seemed so flustered and partly because she wasn’t sure what he meant- and Kinsey couldn’t help but ask for a little bit of clarification. Her eyebrows furrowed and she was sure her expression looked confused. “Are you saying that if I changed my mind you’d go with me, or just that you’d let me go on my own if I decided I really wanted to go?” Going with someone might be fun … but Kinsey still wasn’t too interested in going on her own. If she was with someone, she could focus her ability on them, but on her own she would probably get overwhelmed with all the people.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @kinsey words 426 notes <3 these two. | For some reason, even though she was a year older than him, their friendship had always been easy. All Cameron had to do was be himself. He never lies to her or anything like that. He always felt that there was too much horrors in the world for friends to be doing that to your friends. If hurting each other was what friendship was then he wanted no part of him. He would keep the way him and his friends acted. He smiled at her statement about being ignored. Yeah it is he said with a smile still on his face. Her next statement had him a little ruffled. He hoped he didn’t offend her with his sigh. He was just tired from all the studying he had been doing most of the day. No it’s okay. I am just a little tired from studying. I hardly left the library so I could focus and it took a lot out of me he said. He then added I honestly don’t mind telling you that I am here or whatever you know. He was trying to be cool, which we all know Cameron is not.
Yeah…it is he said about the quiet. He had hoped he hadn’t disturbed her quiet but he had gotten the impression that she didn’t really mind his presence. She offered to share with him some of her quiet spots where she liked to study. Maybe when he went to one Kinsey would be there as well. He wouldn’t mind that at all. That sounds great Kinsey, thanks he said smiling. He laughed when she said he was more fun than her. Fun…really. Some of my friends would disagree. I am too cautious they say he said laughing. She then started to talk about the carnival and seemed to be confused in what he said. He didn’t blame her on being confused, he rambled a lot sometimes. His internal rambling was something he did a lot when he really shouldn’t and he would swear the person he was talking to could hear his inner ramblings.
What I meant was if you decided to go to the carnival that I wouldn’t mind going with you he said. He hoped that he wasn’t too confusing. He was a little nervous for some reason and when that happened he didn’t make any sense at all. It was something he was trying to fix of himself. He had always wanted to be cooler like some of his friends. He just didn’t know how to go about that.

Kinsey smiled when Cameron started explaining things. Apparently all the studying in the library took a lot out of him. She couldn't help but laugh a little. "Alright then ... well as long as you're in the mood and not too tired to notice me, I expect you to let me know." Kinsey didn't know why she was in such a teasing mood. Maybe it was because his responses were kind of hilarious. He didn't seem to expect her teasing, which made it more fun. It also helped that other people weren't around so Kinsey could just be herself.
He seemed excited when Kinsey offered to show him some of her quiet places to study, which she took as a good thing. Sometimes it was nice to be able to get away from everyone so you could really focus. "Alright then. Next time you need a good place to study then, come find me and I'll show you." She narrowed her eyes teasingly. "But you can't show other people. If we tell everyone then they won't be quiet places anymore," Kinsey warned. She didn't really think he would, but also wanted to be sure. Those places were often her escape when she couldn't handle groups. It would really stink if a bunch of people started hanging around in them. He laughed again when she talked about him being fun. "Well ... I didn't say you were fun," she teased, "Just more fun than me. It's not a hard thing to achieve." Really though, most people saw her as quiet and solitary. Not really an example of someone who was good at having fun. "Besides, caution can be a good thing," Kinsey said in his defense.
Then he said that he wouldn't mind going to the carnival with Kinsey and she smiled, feeling a bit more excited than she expected at the idea. Going with Cameron could be fun, and they were friends so they could just have fun together and she ... was starting to feel curious about the carnival. She'd never gone to something like that before ... too many people with varying intentions and she never wanted to try. She bit her lip for a second, thinking. "Well, it could be a way for us to prove to everyone that we do know how to have fun," Kinsey said with a small laugh. "I've never been to a carnival though, so ... I only want to go if you promise not to ditch me," she decided. She didn't really think he would leave, but she wanted to be sure. Especially since she was going to be trying to focus her gift on him so she didn't get overwhelmed. If he left, that would definitely be hard to do.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @kinsey words 523 notes love these two. | Cameron smiled a little and laughed. Yes, I do promise. Don’t worry he said still chuckling a little. He ran a hand through his short hair and pushed his glasses back up his nose. He hated that they kept trying to fall off. He surprisingly enjoyed Kinsey’s teasing. Cameron wasn’t usually like this. He was normally shying away from anyone who wanted to talk in this manner. He was never comfortable in situations like these, especially with girls. With his guy friends, he had to make sure a lot of times that they weren’t just making fun of him on occasion because it was easy to do. He was just enjoying himself which he didn’t do sometimes with people. He was always cautious around them. He eased up if they were friends but sometimes those old habits would sneak back in.
Quiet places to study would be amazing. Sometimes the library got too noisy if there were too many kids in there even though it was a library. He nodded when she told him that he couldn’t tell anyone. Of course I won’t. It would be quit then would it he said with a smile. Cameron had no intentions of showing anyone those places. He liked quiet not only to study but to read or just think through the rambling thoughts that went on in his head, which were a lot. Cameron just realized that he talked to himself in his head way too much. All the internal rambling and debates, which probably confused people because he just ended up staring off into space with his internal thoughts.
He laughed at her clarification on the fun she said he had. Good to know that I can be more fun than someone else. It usually never happens he said with a smile. He sighed relaxing into his chair a smile still planted on his face. I guess it can be. My sister is always wanting me to take more risks though. She says it would be good for me he said shrugging. His twin sister could get a little annoying at times. She always thought she was right about everything and should make sure Cameron was doing everything he was supposed to. Basically, she was born five minutes before him and felt that she needed to oversee them both.
Talking about the carnival was pretty out there for him. Cameron really hadn’t wanted to go but maybe with Kinsey it would be better. He had never been to a carnival himself and the idea intrigued him some, just not enough to go on his own. He smiled. Of course it would be, and don’t worry I won’t ditch you. I have never been to a carnival either so this could be interesting he said. He couldn’t believe he was talking about going to a carnival with someone. This was very unlike Cameron though he did love hanging out with his friends, just again too many people. Cameron thought though that he could face the masses and go to this carnival if maybe he had someone with him who understood the too many people thing.

Kinsey smiled and nodded when Cameron said he promised. Again. At least he seemed to be in a better mood now. More relaxed than he was earlier, at least. She was glad for that. It was always more fun to talk to people when they were happy and excited than it was to talk to those who were tired or bored. Granted, she'd always enjoyed her conversations with Cameron before.
Her smile widened to a grin when he agreed to not show her spots to other people. It just now occurred to her that she was being a little demanding of him today ... telling him to come let her know when he entered a room, ordering him not to show her quiet spots to other people. Huh. She would have to watch that in the future. She didn't want Cameron to think she just wanted to boss him around. "Great! Then I'll definitely be showing you some soon," she told him happily. She knew she could trust Cameron, but it was nice to have that confirmation.
His laugh was contagious and Kinsey laughed along with him. "That's what I'm here for. To build all the non-thrill seekers up by showing them how boring I can be," she joked. Poking fun at herself was something Kinsey was definitely comfortable with. Especially when it helped her build up others around her. She shrugged back at him. "Just do what you want," Kinsey encouraged. "If you want to try more exciting things, do it. If not, you'll be fine." Personally, Kinsey was tired of doing what other people wanted or expected just because they wanted or expected it. It was her life and she was going to do things the way she wanted to.
She grinned at Cameron. "Well then, let's go and see what we can do for fun over there," she said, starting to get excited about the idea of going to a carnival now. "We'll take care of each other, so we'll have fun and if we want to leave, we can do that too." She stood up and looked around, waving her wand to put all her things away. "I'm ready to go when you are!" she told him with a shrug. Were they really going to do this? She felt both excited and anxious at the same time ... even though she didn't know how that was possible.
