The day was dreary, just like Briege had dreamed it would be. Rain slid down the aged window panes of the Divination tower, pattering heavily. At least the rain meant that Spring was coming. The soft smell of chamomile wafted through the her office as tea was poured into a mug. Briege had glimpsed one of her student's faces earlier that morning, coming to visit her. Nerves that were not her own had made her shake her petite shoulders out. Long tresses of wavy blond hair were pulled back in a messy pony tail, and several strands had managed to escape before lunch time. Briege had her tarot cards spread out before her on her desk and was studying them with a furrowed brow as she held one bobby pin between her teeth and shoved another into her hair. Placing the other on the opposite side, she finally could clear her face of all distractions. The spread before her was complicated: it consisted of ten cards. It was an Attraction spread where each card indicated seven points of attraction in one's life, and how they were doing so: love, money, family, friends, career, future, and universe. It was a nice spread, and a new one that she was trying from a book she had picked up in Diagon Alley. The bookshops were really starting to expand their collection in the divination areas. It was nice.
A soft meow called Briege's attention, but her focus was upon her cards. It wasn't until she felt a nip at her thigh through her jeans that she glared down at her white and grey tabby, Charles.
"That was rude, Charles," she said to the cat, as if he were human. "Not now. I'm busy." Briege stared at the Three of Cups for a moment that was in the center of spread, indicating the "You" within it. She had had quite a bit of success. and she was pretty fortunate for all in her life.
The wind outside picked up, gusting against the tower. Briege tore her gaze away from her cards once more to glimpse out the window across from her. Rain made her hands ache and she rubbed one with the other absently. A chill ran down her spine and Briege quickly jotted some notes down in her notebook before pushing her chair back and standing. Right, time to make some coffee.

Hugo wasn't a negative person. Not by any stretch of the imagination, but right now he felt like he needed someone to talk to, someone that understood what he was going through, at least a little bit. He knew a few other people had visions, he'd even spoken with them before but this was more. He needed advice and maybe just a little bit of comfort, so he decided to go to the one adult that he knew would be there for him.
The journey up to the divination tower was long, as ever, and it felt like each step weighed him down, but Hugo knew what he was doing. He had to talk to his professor, maybe she'd be able to help him learn how to control his visions a bit more. He could control them a little, if he was focusing, but if someone touched him when he wasn't expecting it? He cringed. Seeing the many different ways that people died was not a pleasant experience.
Once he arrived he knocked on the door in the ceiling. "Professor Till?" He called out, hoping she was there. If not, he was going to have to find something else to do and try back for her later. It wasn't like his visions were knew. He'd waited quite a while before coming to her. Waiting a little longer wouldn't hurt him any.

Ah, there was the knock, and Hugo's voice. A soft smile played upon her lips as Briege stood to prepare her coffee, waving her wand at her door so that it opened with a silent incantation.
"Come on in, Hugo," she called, her voice kind and merry, despite the weather outside. "I made you a spot of tea." Briege tinkered at a small hutch she had moved into the tower (and what a pain that had been...) and pulled out a mug of her own. Her wand flitted at this and that and soon enough, the smell off coffee wafted from a french press, mingling with the scent of chamomile tea. Briege took in Hugo's face.
"What brings you here?" she asked, sitting back down and tucking her legs up beneath her in her chair. Briege had Seen Hugo coming to her office, but she did not know the reason why. She could practically feel Hugo's worry, though.

The door came down and he heard his professor's voice, telling him to come on in. Hugo smiled, pleased when she said that she made him some tea. He'd never visited Professor Till before, but if she was always this prepared for visitors, it would make doing so much easier. At least he didn't feel like he was barging in on anything.
He moved to a seat at the table where she'd so obviously been sitting and waited a few moments until she joined him. Then she asked the question. Hugo tensed. He really didn't know how he was supposed to tell his teacher that he kept seeing people die in visions, he just knew he couldn't keep it to himself anymore. "I'm ... having visions Professor," he paused a moment. "And not really sure what to do about it." There. Start simple and let her ask what she would for clarification. He'd actually said the word, which made this conversation feel better, even if it wasn't going to be easy.

Briege wrapped her fingers around her mug of coffee, letting the warmth sink into the palms of her hands and her fingers. She tilted her head at Hugo's words; she hadn't realized that he, too, was a Seer.
"What kind of visions?" Briege asked, both gently and with interest, her blue eyes soft. "Dreams, or all the time?" Briege felt a bit disappointed in herself, for not knowing, let alone realizing. But, then again, when she was Hugo's age she didn't go around telling many about her visions, either. Until one day she had a big one, that stole her for several moments during dinner at the Great Hall. Then the cat was out of the bag, and her grandmother was requested to come to Hogwarts twice a week to help her. No one had teased young Briege when her grandmother was there: the woman was downright scary if you didn't know her.
"Drink your tea. It will help," Briege said kindly, nodding towards Hugo's mug.

She seemed a little surprised at Hugo's confession, not that it was much of a surprise. Not many people would expect him to be a Seer. First of all, he didn't fit the stereotype. He was normally happy and liked to get to know people. Now he just ... didn't go for physical contact either.
She asked what kind of visions and Hugo took a deep breath. "At first it was visions of my older sister. Things I could see about her being in danger and such ... but then it changed. Now I can't touch people without ..." he hesitated and took a deeper breath. "without seeing how they're going to die." He could sometimes control it, that was something he was working on. "Almost every time I touch someone. Then, with people I'm close to ... I can see things about them being in danger." He stopped, watching his teacher almost anxiously.
He took a sip of his tea, smiling a little at the warmth. She was right, it did help.

Briege nodded as she listened to her student. She floded her fingers together, propping her elbows upon her desk, and rested her chin atop the rest she had made with her limbs. She had studied different types of clairvoyants, and was only a little familiar with what Hugo was speaking of. A small smile touched her lips.
"I've had vision my whole life. And it wasn't until I started working with my grandmother that I got a hold of them. And sometimes, they still catch my by surprise. So try not to feel too bad about the lack of control," Briege said gently. She took a small breath and sat back.
"So, first off, I want you to start with some exercises. I want you to work on meditating every morning and every evening - after you wake and before you sleep. This is going to help you first, clear you mind. I know that sounds counter productive, but its the first step in gaining control. The easier you can clear your mind, the more control you have over it in the end. When I want to, it only takes me one breath - just one - to gain control. And you can get to that point as well." Briege grabbed a notebook from inside her desk and offered it to Hugo.
"I also would like you to keep track of any dreams you have. I know this is probably...horrible for you. But once you gain control over your mind, it will come as a blessing." Briege offered Hugo another soft smile.

It felt ... so nice to get the whole thing off of his chest. Of course his family and those close to him knew about the visions, but it was nice to have someone who knew what he was going through to talk to. Granted, he doubted her visions were exactly the same as his, but visions were visions and she knew what she was talking about.
Ne nodded when she said that it wasn't easy to get complete control of the visions. Well that was a relief. Hugo listened carefully as Professor Till started explaining what she wanted him to do. Exercises. He could do that. He listened carefully. Meditating. Uhh he'd heard of it but he didn't exactly know what it was. Still, he didn't want to interrupt so he waited and continued to listen. She handed him a notebook and he took it, still listening. He nodded. "I can do that." Writing down the visions would be easy, though not pleasant. "But Professor? I don't really know how to meditate ..." he trailed off, not really knowing if there was anything else he could say about that. Surely she'd be willing to help him learn how so that he could follow her instructions.
