Rosie started talking him up and Brandon couldn't help but roll his eyes. It wasn't that he thought he wouldn't be able to become a famous musician, but he was nervous that he'd jinx himself if he behaved too confidently. It was his goal and dream though. ”If I become a star, I will definitely remember you. As many front row rickets as you want,” he promised with a wink. He listened to her plans with interest. "A sports journalist, huh?" he said with a smile. ”That sounds like fun. So you’d get to go to all the games and stuff?” His eyes widened as he realized what she was saying. ”Wait, so you want to do this for both magical and muggle sports?” he clarified, definitely impressed. It seemed to him that just doing one side would be busy enough. If she actually did both, she’d probably end up super busy. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie understood his hesitance in dreaming too big. It was always a disappointment when you wanted something so badly and it never happened. She hadn't experienced a lot of disappointment yet in her life, but she aimed fairly low and appreciated the simple things more than it seemed some people did. Rosie was easy to please. Give her sugar and someone to talk to and she was golden, at least until she needed to write. "I'll hold you to that." she promised with a sweet smile.
"Yeah, in a perfect world, once I'm employed by a real publication, I'd get a press pass and it would get me, and I think a plus one, into any game I'm covering." She wasn't surprised that he had questions and was maybe a little surprised by her answer. Rosie came off as a girly girl, but actually, if anyone ever invited her to play a game of football, she'd be down in the dirt with the rest of the players. "Yeah, I actually prefer muggle sports. It may be weird but American Football is actually my favorite. Regardless of that fact that I've never actually seen a live game." she admitted.

Rosie was smiling and telling him she'd hold him to his promise and Brandon couldn't help but grin in response. Rosie was cute. He'd always thought so, but after being gone for a year ... he admired her positive, cheerful attitude. "You do that. Don't let me forget," he told her seriously. He would love to have friends attending his concerts, if he ever had any. No, he needed to be positive. He would have concerts and his friends would attend. At least, Rosie would. She started mentioning what it should be like once she got her dream job, getting a press pass and another ticket. He couldn't help but smirk at her, "Does that mean you'll return my favor by taking me to sports events," he teased lightly. Brandon wasn't normally a big tease, but in situations like this he couldn't help it. "American football," he mused. "I'm assuming it's different than normal football. You'll have to show it to me sometime." If it was something Rosie liked, Brandon was sure it was interesting. Even though sports were not the same thing as music, he could appreciate the work that went into that kind of job. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie had always known Brandon was a good friend, but looking at him now after a few years apart, Rosie couldn't help but notice something felt a little different. And he looked a little different. He had grown up and come into his own. He didn't look like the same kid who she'd talk to in classes. He was taller and had less of a baby face. He was handsome. Something she wasn't sure if she had just never noticed or wasn't there before. And she knew she had grown up too. She was less clumsy and more graceful. The curls in her hair had loosened into mostly waves rather then the tight curls she had when she was young, and, she had been told by her friends that she was pretty, though her mom had been telling her that since the day she was born. it just felt so odd, while it did feel like talking to a friend, there was something different, a tickling in her stomach, maybe a different sort of smile? She couldn't quite put her finger on it and she tried not to let it distract her too much.
"Maybe even a backstage pass? Ooh! You'll have to take me to one of those fancy events!" Rosie always loved any excuse to dress up and have a good time. She had heard of all the fancy galas in London. Every now and then, her dad, as a Lawyer got an invitation if one of his clients were throwing it, and he and her mother would dress up, and her mom would wear pearls, and even the memory made Rosie fall in love with the idea of going to one herself. "I'm sure that can be arranged." Rosie nodded, she'd love to take him, she'd love to hear his opinion, especially to a muggle sports game, which were vastly different than magical sports. "It's a lot more... violent? But on purpose. And you don't play it with your feet at all, so it's really badly named. You mostly run a ball from one end of the field to another and try to stop the other team from doing the same thing by tackling them down. My dad watches it a lot. It's weirdly thrilling." she admitted with a bit of a blushed face.

Rosie's excitement was contagious and Brandon felt himself drawn to her. It was the first time he'd seen her in a while, but she was the same as always. Filled with cheerfulness and delight and Brandon loved it. She started talking about a backstage pass, telling him he had to take her to one of those fancy events. Brandon grinned at her, "Of course you'd get a backstage pass, Rosie. You think I'd let you come to one of my shows and not want to see you before or after?" Really though, friends would always be an integral part of Brandon, and anyone that supported his music would have to put up with him wanting them around always. His smile became slightly mischievous and he said, "But if you wanna come to a fancy event, you'd better be ready to come as my date," he teased automatically Wait. What? His mind froze and then thoughts started flying through his mind at a rapid pace. Did he just ask her to be his date? To an imaginary event? How did that even happen? "I-I mean, if you don't I might be surrounded by other people and not get the chance to spend any time with you," he explained, keeping his smile pasted on. Hopefully she wouldn't see how nervous he was that he crossed a line. But suddenly ... he wanted to ask her on a date now. He shook his head, trying to force the thought out of his mind so he could focus on the girl in front of him. He smiled when she said she was sure she could bring him with her. Good. Brandon liked the fact that they were planning on seeing one another after graduation. He had a minor fear that once everyone graduated he wouldn't see or hear from them anymore. It probably wouldn't happen, but what if it did? He leaned a little closer as she started to explain Americal Football. He smiled at the end of her explanation, noting her blush and how it looked beautiful on her, along with the beautiful brown waves of hair and her dark, enchanting eyes. What was going on with him? "I look forward to you showing it to me," he answered honestly. "Are there any other sports you really enjoy?" He wanted to hear her talk more and took a sip of his coffee as he waited for her response. rose harriet granger-weasley <3

Rosie felt her face go into an even deeper blush when he said that f she wanted to accompany him, she would have to be his date. Had he just ask her to be his date in a hypothetical scenario? Did that mean he wanted to date her? The twisting feeling in her stomach was both confusion and overzealous and there was a part of her brain begging her to blurt out, yes! But she maintained composure and didn't let it show. He soon corrected himself and of course she understood. "That makes sense." she nodded. "I can go along with that." she added. Though now she began to question the feeling in her stomach and why her mind wanted him to have been asking her out. Rosie had felt a crush before, but it had never resulted in anything, she slowly began to familiarize herself with the feeling. No. She couldn't have a crush on Brandon... could she? The thought distracted her slightly.
"I basically like all sports." she admitted. "And even though I'm honestly dreadful at them, I like playing them too, nothing serious of course, but it's fun. Before I came to Hogwarts and during the summers all the kids in my parents neighborhood and I would get together at the park near our house and play a bunch of sports." she explained. She left out the fact that she always ended up with some cut or bruise or bloody nose. And she especially left out the part when she got a concussion and ended up in the muggle hospital when she was 10 from trying to play American Football with a bunch of boys twice her size.

She blushed and Brandon couldn't tell if she was upset that he practically asked her on a future date or if she was embarrassed. Hopefully just embarrassed that he was an idiot. Wait. She wasn't dating someone, was she? Brandon froze for a moment, trying to remember if he saw Rosie hanging out with some guy in the recent past, but he couldn't remember. Then she agreed, saying that he made sense and she'd be alright with that. Well, that meant she wasn't upset at him, right? "Good," he said with a smile and a firm nod. He wanted Rosie to feel comfortable with him, always. He listened with interest as she said she liked all sports, but then said she was terrible at them. "I'm not good at sports either," Brandon said with a small chortle. "I think my body prefers any and all instruments to any and all sports." He smiled, imagining Rosie playing a bunch of sports during the summers. "That sounds like a lot of fun, Rosie," he said softly, loving how excited she was. It was adorable, her enthusiasm. How had he missed that before? rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie took the last sip of her coffee as he told her that his body preferred instruments to sports. "Honestly, I'm not suited for either." she admitted. It was true, she girl didn't process an ounce of musical ability. Literally none. Her singing voice sounded off key and shaky and, while she had never tried to pick up an instrument outside of her mandatory music classes in primary school, she knew it would be a bad idea. Something would break or get hurt. Someone's ear drum would burst, something. Rosie had a talent for writing. That was safe. She was good with words and good at telling stories. That was her talent. "Don't expect me to ever play music with you." she insisted with a smile.
As much fun as she was having, she couldn't help but bring her mind back to the pile of books and assignments laying on her bed back in her dorm. She had only meant to pop out to get coffee and drink it on the walk back to the castle. Just an hour break. "Hey, I shouldn't probably get back to the castle soon. I've got a pile of homework on my bed just waiting to suck the rest of my Sunday away." she admitted with a slightly disappointed sigh. She loved catching up with Brandon and hoped to do it again. She remembered how good of a friend he was and she loved being around him, maybe now even more than she had before when he was a Hufflepuff. "Wannah walk me back to the castle?" she asked with a smirk and an elbow nudge.

Brandon smiled when Rosie said that she wasn't suited for music or sports. That wasn't particularly a surprise, since she'd never offered to sing with him or play music with him before, but he wasn't going to say that. He didn't want to upset her when they were having such a nice time. He shrugged. "Don't worry, why do you need to play music or sports when you can write about both of them." As a musician who sometimes composed his own songs, Brandon knew the importance of words. If Rosie wanted to be a writer, that meant she was good with words. That was an amazing gift. He nodded when she said she needed to go back. "Yeah, I should probably head back as well," he agreed, standing from the table. Then she asked if he'd walk her back and he grinned at her. "Of course I'll go back with you," he said easily. "Let's go," he offered her a hand to help her up and then they walked out of the shop and down the street, talking as they made their way back to Hogwarts. ---the end--- rose harriet granger-weasley
