Rosie loved the idea of a carnival. She loved the excuse to get out of the castle and she loved all of the fun new opportunities that it provided. The Hufflepuff could barely contain her excitement as she walked towards the carnival, and she let herself just stare in awe as she walked in though the gates. She spun in place to take in the sight. Rosie was always up for anything that promised fun, and she felt like the carnival was the ultimate promise for fun. Students smiled as they ran around her, even the teachers had decided to join in and seemed to be enjoying the festivities. In her opinion, the school had really outdone herself.
The girl had a hard time deciding what to do first. She had come alone so she didn't have anyone else pulling her in a different direction and it was all up to her. While she was sure she'd stumble upon a friend or two she was happy right now to have her pick of activities with no outside influence. Looking to her right, Rosie spotted a booth selling Cotton Candy. How perfect, she thought. She'd need a sugar boost if she was going to attempt to tackle the entire fair. She made her way though the crowds to the booth and waited in line until it was her turn. She opted for the pink flavor, which she assumed from going to fairs as a muggle child was bubblegum flavored and was not disappointed when she put the first, melt-in-your-mouth bit of sweetness into her mouth. With her entire being focused on the sugar that was quickly entering her bloodstream, the 7th year turned from the booth and without looking where she was going, instantly bumped into another person. "Whoops. Sorry." Rosie smiled, feeling instantly a little embarrassed that she was probably acting like a little more immature than normal.

The carnival was a good picker-upper for the students. Especially for students like Jessie, who thrived off of socializing. The excitement of the tournament, combined with the carnival provided a well-wanted distraction. She sighed in contentment, listening to the joyous laughter of children and adults alike. She walked about, weaving and out of the clusters of wizards and witches. Her eyes caught a small toddler, chewing on a licorice wand, when the little Gryffindor bumped into a taller person.
"Oh! I'm so sorry," she said, eyes wide and apologetic. However, that look faded off her face, only to be replaced by a grin. "I take it back, I'm not sorry," Jessie teased, glancing up at Rosie. "I didn't know you were coming tonight. I would have come with you!"

Rosie was sure that she would run into people that she knew while at the carnival, but she didn't think it would be quite this easy. The Hufflepuff's eyes lit up when she saw who she had walked into. "Jess! You could have told me you were coming too!" She teased. Rosie had known this young woman since her second year, Jess's first year. She loved the little Gryffindor and never shied away from a chance to hang out with her. "To be fair, I just got here. Cotton Candy?" she offered, holding the bag out to her friend though she left it up to her if she wanted to take some or not.
"Have you done anything yet? I've just been walking around a little. It's pretty great, isn't it?" Rosie was hesitant at first as it seemed frivolous given the recent events, however, she really could see how it was lifting everyone's spirits, including her own. She walked in feeling a little anxious about it, with all of the people running around, but as soon as the cotton sugar touched her tongue, she felt the atmosphere of fun take over her and was back to her happy-go-lucky self.

"Oh, just a pinch though," she complied, tapping a little pinch from the bagged mountain of sugar that Rosie held. "To answer your question, no. I just got here too," Jessie answered, taking one last bit from her friend's candy. "It's marvelous. I've seen more smiles here, than I have in the past month." The Gryffindor took a step forward, waving her friend to follow suit. "Listen, they have these American Muggle treats I used to eat back home. Fried twinkies. Let me grab one, and then we can play games and stuff if you're up to it? Maybe there are shows going on too! Oh my goodness, let's get our palms read. I'm sure it'll be a joke compared to real Divination." The diminutive girl shuffled forward, laughing while thinking about a fake psychic. Mid-Thread change!! Sorry!

"I agree, right? It's put everyone in such a nice mood. And it's nice that it's not just students. I love seeing all of the families around." Rosie added. The Hufflepuff listened in awe as her friend described the treat and walked along with her to the booth where they were sold. "I've never had a Twinkie." she admitted. "What is it even?" she asked with interest. She had heard about them, but they were American treats and Rosie had never been to America and her family didn't partake in a lot of imported foods. They never ate out much often at all, any sugary treats in the house were home baked by her and her mother. The girl laughed at the idea of the fortune teller, unless, the magical carnival had indeed got an actual seer, it would be a great laugh. However, based on the look of all of the other booths, it was mainly carnies dressed as various magical beings such as mermaids and such. It was all in good fun and Rosie knew not to take any of it seriously. She loved Divination, however and was quite good at it herself despite not actually having The Gift. "Let's do it!" she decided. "It'll be such a fun story to tell later at least." she smiled.

"A Twinkie is probably the least healthiest treat you could eat. It's spongecake with a creme feeling. None of it tastes natural. But it's delicious none the least. Especially fried. It's a fair staple, I guess. Your quota is one though, if you're wanting to try it. I don't want to clog your arteries and give you congestive heart failure. It would weigh heavily on my conscience ," she teased, elbowing the older girl. Jessie shuffled forward, gait slow. Her heart swelled to twice it's size, as she passed laughing family after laughing family. She was almost positive she would be out here until curfew. Though she loved Hogwarts, the bleak, grey walls grew boring after sometime. They finally happened along a booth that sold what they sought out. "Just one fried Twinkie please," she requested, before paying for it. She stepped to the side once she had her treat in hand, and paused in case Rosie wanted one as well. Rosie totally does NOT have to buy a twinkie, haha.

Rosie felt her jaw drop as she listened to Jessie explain what exactly a Twinkie was. A part of her thought that it sounded amazing, but another part of her was repulsed by the idea. "You know, I bet I could make that. That doesn't sound difficult." she admitted, not to sound high and mighty, but more as a challenge to herself to make it without nearly as much sugar. Rosie was a fair cook. She learned to cook as a girl with her mother and loved cooking and baking whenever she got a chance. Rosie waited with her friend while she bought her treat and just snacked on a little bit more of her cotton candy rather than get a fried twinkie. Maybe another time, she thought to herself, maybe a time when she didn't already have cotton candy. "So, should we find that palm reader?" She asked, scanning around her. "I'm not entirely sure where they are." she admitted. "We can just walk around until we find them?" Rosie didn't hate the idea of walking around and getting to catch up with her friend while they looked.
