al was walking around the room of requirement waiting for the rest of phoenix rising to make their way there. it was a bitter sweet moment really, it was their first meeting since abby had been killed and he knew there would be a sombre tone for a lot of today. his arms were folded across his chest, his fingers tapping on his arm as he stepped between the chairs the room had provided. there wasn't going to be anything more than talking today, after all they just needed to work out an effective way of communicating with each other. he blew out a breath and glanced at the door, he'd been early, he knew that. he just wasn't the most patient person in the world so even though he'd been early he couldn't help but be slightly impatient. there was also another change in this meeting, this was the first one where he was in charge with anna, since ranger had left abby and james had asked him to partner with anna. though there were concerns about certain members, he and anna had already talked about it and gotten onto the same page about what they were willing to tell the members they weren't sure about trusting quite yet so he figured that was a win. everything was subjective to need to know anyway. he glanced to the door as it opened, his green eyes studying the person who walked through.

Anna walked into the Room of Requirement ten minutes early, extremely proud of herself for not being late. Well, she wasn't always late, but it seemed to be happening more often now than it used to so she considered her timely arrival a wonderful thing. The only person in the room when she arrived was Albus. He was the new co-leader of Phoenix Rising. Ranger had been the old one, but he left and Abby and James gave his responsibilities to her cousin. Honestly, she was just relieved that she didn't have to take care of it on her own. She was so busy this year and knew that without someone working with her, she wouldn't be any help, even though she was extremely devoted to the cause. "Hey Albus," she said with a smile, approaching him. "You ready for this?" It wasn't going to be a happy meeting, she knew, but they were here to discuss plans for the future. She was positive that with everyone working together they would be able to figure stuff out.
ALSO ANNOUNCEMENT! If you're not on the list, but want to join Phoenix Rising, go ahead and just join in this thread. We'd love to have you!

Cecelia was nervous. Zander had told her about Phoenix Rising when she had met him, and while she desperately wanted to be a part of something bigger (that wasn’t the Purifiers), she was worried that her reception in the group wasn’t going to be the best. Her sister had been Elaine’s right hand, after all, and it had been Elaine who killed Abby Shacklebolt… who was the founder of the group. Cecelia wasn’t going to let her worry keep her from attending the meeting, though. And if anyone else had a problem with her being there, then… well, Cecelia didn’t know what was going to happen then, but she wasn’t going to try to raise a fuss. If the other members of Phoenix Rising couldn’t accept that people could be different from their families, or that people could change, then she wasn’t really sure she wanted to be a part of the group at all.
After pacing outside the Room of Requirement, Cece was relieved to see that the door appeared for her, and that she could step into the meeting room. Her heart dropped a little when she saw there were only two other people in the room. She had intended to slip in and blend in with the crowd, but there was no crowd to blend in with. Instead, Cecelia made a beeline towards Anna – the two were friendly, and the Gryffindor was hopeful that her roommate wouldn’t rebuke her or ask her why she was there.

<3 A meeting had been called, and Olivia was glad. She felt with everything that was happening, they had to do something. What, she didn't know. But she did know that Anna and Albus would know what to do. Olivia wasn't best friends with either of them, but she considered them cordial. Anna was sweet, and Albus was...well, he was nice in his own way but tended to keep to himself more, at least that's what Olivia had observed of him. As she entered the Room of Requirement, she saw the two leaders, and Cecelia were present. The two Gryffindors and Olivia had classes together, but she wasn't sure if either of them would be incredibly friendly with her. She walked over to the three quietly, smiling. "Hello, you three."

She knew Anna was terribly busy with the Tournament, and Al was doing... whatever Al was doing, but it was about time they had a Phoenix Rising meeting, in Roxy's opinion. Abby had died since they last met. Professor Longbottom was sick. Things had changed, and now that Roxy had pretty much everything else in her life under control, and she was ready to do something. Something a bit more useful than her love potion awareness posters. So she arrived at the Room of Requirement a few minutes before they'd said to start, pacing the corridor three times before the door appeared. She smiled to her cousins and as she entered the room, and offered a general "Hey" to them and Cecelia and Olivia, before grabbing a chair that the Room had so generously provided.

Rose wasn't entirely sure she had the time to be running off to Phoenix Rising meetings right now with all the studying she had to be doing on top of Head Girl duties, but she had managed to convince herself that going to the meeting was a part of Head Girl duties so she decided she could go. She managed to still catch the door to the Room of Requirement just after someone had already walked in and she entered the room just a moment after Roxanne. The Head Girl looked around at the few other people in the room and grinned at them all in greeting before walking over to Cecelia and Anna to stand and wait for the meeting. The meeting was sure to be... something else, that was for sure. When news that Abby had died made rounds about the castle, it had been hard. And when Rose looked at Albus, she imagined James was probably taking it particularly hard. She wasn't sure if the discussion, once brought up, would be triggering for anyone but she made it her own promise to be there for anyone who found it to be a hard subject to discuss.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] We will raise from the ashes Pheonix Rising [attr="class","itokaytext"] Phoenix rising that was the name of the group who were trying to make a difference. She had known about it from Jamie one day when the girls were talking about the murders and kidnappings and when Thalia expressed her interest in doing something to help in the fight, Jamie mentioned about it. Thalia was quite surprised to know about it now. Well, at least she had known about it now. She had known from her mother about the Dumbledore's army which was formed by Harry Potter, and to know that there was another group in school just like DA had Thalia all excited. At last she felt that there was something she could do. She had known from Jamie about the meeting in the room of requirement and Thalia was all ready to meet the group. She checked the time and walking up to the fifth floor, she walked in front of the wall just like she was told to. And she was surprised to see the door and opening it Thalia entered the room, the room which was called as the Room of requirement. She knew about this room from her mom and to see it with her own eyes had Thalia feel awed.
Just as she entered the room, she saw that there were quite a few in there already but no Jamie. Oh great, she is alone. And then she saw Molly and sighed. While she knew the others in the room, she was not very much on speaking terms with them. And she noticed that they were all related at least a few of them were. She went to Molly and spoke 'hey Molly. how are you? Oh and Jamie told me about this"she added the last part just in case if they wondered how she came up on them,

When her father had started to train her, even at the tender age of five, CJ knew that she was preparing for a war.
She had never been sure when she would be required to fight, or how long she had to prepare herself, so her dad pushed her as though she were going to become an Auror straight out of Hogwarts. He made sure that she trained daily, even while she was at school, and now? Joining Phoenix Rising? It seemed almost like kismet. Or at least, some twisted version of it.
Nevertheless, CJ was excited. Grim at the prospect of the reality they were preparing themselves for, no doubt about it, but also eager to finally have a place where her skills were something to be proud of, instead of secretive of. She normally hated how different her upbringing had been, but Phoenix Rising was definitely a place where those skills would be commonplace... she hoped.
Entering the room, the Lion took note of the familiar faces already present. "Hey, guys," she greeted warmly, but in slightly subdued tone, sensing the heaviness that permeated the room. A result, no doubt, from the awful events taking place of late. She pushed a strand of her curly brunette hair behind her ear. "Hope I'm not late or anything."

"Hey Albus, You ready for this?" he looked at his cousin as she approached and he nodded his head. this was their first meeting since he'd taken over from ranger lloyd and while he felt like he could do the job he would be lying if he said he wasn't a little nervous. though today's meeting was a simple one, to touch base with the members and to get their ideas on a new way to communicate with each other. word of mouth and telling people wasn't the most secure way to let people know when meetings were so they needed a set way to tell people when and where the meetings were going to be. "yeah, ready as i'll ever be." he said as he kept his arms folded across his chest and he watched the people trickle in. he greeted people in turn when they greeted him, standing in the one spot next to anna for the time they all walked in. when it looked like no one else was coming in he glanced around at the people there. "hey, thanks for coming." he said, addressing the group. "so today we just wanted to touch base with everyone." he said as he stepped towards the middle of the room. "we're also going to be asking people if they have any idea's on how to communicate effectively through the group. such as a way to tell you all when meetings are going to happen." he said as he glanced back at anna, queuing her to jump in and explain anything she felt needed to be explained.

Anna smiled over at Al when he said he was as ready as he'd ever be. "Don't worry. It'll be just fine," she told him confidently. These meetings always went smoothly. There was no reason this time should be any different. Still, Anna would never be able to get over the strange sensation that it was to be leading the other students, to have them all approach her cautiously like there was something to worry about.
Her eyes were drawn to the door when it opened and Cecelia stepped through, looking distinctly nervous. Anna smiled as the girl approached her and nodded. "Hey Cecelia," she said softly as others entered, reaching forward to touch her arm gently. "Are you alright?" She didn't know if the girl would want to talk here, but Anna didn't want her to feel uncomfortable, so she was trying to help with that. She nodded and grinned as Olivia approached, still kind of focused on Cece, so she didn't really say anything. She also nodded to Roxy and Rose as they entered the room, but those two didn't come as near to her as Cece and Olivia did.
Then Thalia was there, asking how she was doing and saying that Jamie told her about the meeting. "We're glad to have you here Thalia," Anna greeted. "And I'm doing well. Just getting ready for the next task," she said with a wink. It was easier to pretend to be really excited about it around people that weren't as good at reading her. When CJ came in, Anna smiled and nodded to indicate the girl was fine, but she also didn't really come near and Anna didn't want to yell across the room.
Albus took control of the meeting, greeting everyone and saying what the plan was before stepping back and gesturing to Anna. She took a small step forward. "So, I guess to start ... is there anything that any of you would like to talk about? Any questions you have or things that you've seen or anything like that?" Personally, Anna hadn't noticed anything lately, but then again she'd been a bit preoccupied with the tournament. Maybe someone else had news.

Anna greeted Cecelia, and it took all the Gryffindor girl had not to flinch away from the touch. When Anna asked if Cecelia was alright, she didn’t know what to say. The truthful answer was no, she wasn’t alright. She wasn’t used to coming to meetings and feeling comfortable. Even when she had wholeheartedly agreed with the Purifiers and their beliefs, the meetings hadn’t been fun, because Elaine had always been there, staring her down, searching for weakness. At least, that had been how it had felt. And even when she had had nothing to fear for, Cecelia was afraid. It was no different now, except that Cecelia had everything to fear. She swallowed hard, and then nodded, not wanting to voice her feels around people that were no better than strangers as far as she was concerned. She could talk to Anna about how worried she was by this later, when they were alone. Until that point, though, she just wanted to stick by Anna’s side and hope that no one would be brave enough to outwardly object to her presence.
Albus announced the beginning of the meeting, talking about “touching base”, and Cecelia just kept biting on her lip. She doubted that Elaine would ever call a meeting just to see how everyone was doing. As for communicating through the group, what was the point when Elaine could just reach out to their minds, or make them hear the voices of their dead sisters? Cecelia swallowed back bile at the thought of Desirae’s voice pulling her to a Phoenix Rising meeting. That just felt so wrong. When Anna stepped forward to speak for herself, Cecelia locked her knees to keep herself from lurching forward, too. She didn’t belong here, and to keep attaching herself to Anna’s side would give her power that she didn’t have. When Anna asked if anyone had any questions or concerns, Cecelia bit down harder. She was fairly certain her lip was going to start bleeding soon, but Cecelia didn’t want to speak. She was still hoping that no one else realized she was there, and calling attention to herself wasn’t a means to that end.

Albus and Anna said they just wanted to touch base, see if anyone had bright ideas for communicating between the group, anything they'd seen, any questions. There was one thing, but Roxy had promised to keep it quiet. She bit the inside of her lip for a second, considering, and then decided that while privacy was important, more eyes would be helpful. Just in case. "Well, it's probably not connected, but you know how I covered the school with the anti-love potion posters? Well, a few months ago someone was dosed like... daily for a while. It's fine now, but it was creepy. And my brother's keeping an eye on orders out of the Wheezes, but... I guess just keep an eye out for anything weird or suspicious?" That should be anonymous enough for anyone who didn't already know, she hoped. And well, communication - she wasn't her father or her brother, but she'd learned some things. Charmed coins were out because they'd been done before, but something like that. Or hiding a coded message in plain sight... Maybe she'd have a proper idea in a few minutes. [googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] [attr="class","itokaytext"]Thalia quite easily returned the smile Molly gave in her direction and noticed that Cj joined them too. She remembered the girl from the encounter at the yule ball. Well they knew each other much better now, but she did not have time to greet her nor did she have time to respond back to Molly as Albus started to address them all. she just decided to talk to them later on. And then Roxanne spoke up about the love potions which had Thalia thinking how low people would stoop to get their work done.
Thalia was quite a patient witch, but sometimes she totally looses it. That only happened when she did not know something. She was currently stuck like that, with half information. Love potions were quite common to obtain and though she did know what it's effects were, she was not sure how any one would notice the changes. While some may notice the oddities, many cannot. "we can look out for any changes I am sure." And love potions were not the only problem in her opinion. And thus she decided to speak up voicing her thoughts, "there are a lot of magical things which can render us useless, we definitely need to find a way to overcome them and protect ourselves."
As she said it, Thalia guessed that she must have been a bit vague and then added "I mean to say that there high chances of our food and drinks being laced with potions and not to forget cursed objects"and she felt herself shudder at the thought. She has known for quite a long time of what happened to her own mother upon coming in contact with one cursed necklace. She then continued "while they have murdered people before, we do not know if they would strike back similarly as before. We should be prepared for the worse" and looked around for others to add their opinions.

CJ crossed her arms over her chest, leaning against the wall, still part of the group but noticeably holding back. She was new to all this, still quite unsure how to act around all these people, with whom she didn't have to hide. Madi was the only one before this who really knew how CJ had grown up... it would be a rather interesting change to show her more serious self around this crowd of people.
She listened intently as people offered their insights, nodding along when she agreed with them and not reacting at all when she was caught off guard by something. When Thalia mentioned cursed objects, she found herself nodding more vehemently, a big proponent of seeing things coming from every angle.
"Thalia makes a good point," she found herself speaking for the first time. A beat of hesitation, for she still wasn't sure it was her place, but she foraged on. "Just, if history is anything to go by, we can't expect attacks to always come head on." Uncrossing her arms, she pushed herself off the wall, coming to stand closer to the group, her father's various smidges of advice from training ringing in her head. "Just because we train ourselves to fight honorably, doesn't mean the other side won't resort to sneak attacks." Dad's favourite motto. "We should approach any situation with the firm knowledge that there could be something else at play."
She was rarely, if ever, serious... at least, in the eyes of her friends and classmates. This side to her was one kept strictly under wraps for long years... but a war could very well be on the horizon, and if there was anyone CJ could trust with her military upbringing, she thought it might be this lot.
She hoped.

al listened as they all started talking, bringing up things they thought were of value and he could see their points. he brushed his hand through his hair as he stepped forward, to stand beside anna as he looked across the people that were there. "all good points. though i'd be less inclined to worry about the food. after all if they mess with that they'll have a horde of angry house elves on their case." he said, joking slightly but seriously believing that their food, for the most part was safe from the likes of elaine. he agreed with the dark haired girl who had spoken up about the fact there could be something else at play. even now when they were quiet it was easy to get complacent. "as for the communication between members, any ideas?" he asked, looking around the group again.
