Dom stood outside the Great Hall, in the Entrance Hall in fact, searching for someone to join her today. She was definitely in the mood to go on an adventure, but she didn't have any planned and she was looking for someone new to play with. So she scanned through the crowd, smiling at the people as they passed. She knew most everyone- Dom had a particular talent with names and faces- but at the moment she was looking for just the right person to play with.
She grinned when she spotted Juliet walking out of the Great Hall. It seemed like she was with a group of people, but Dom couldn't be sure. Either way, she felt like going to the girl, so she skipped across the hall, smiling and waving to people as she passed until she reached Juliet. "Juliet," she said cheerfully once she was beside her. "I was wondering how busy you are today." It was a Saturday and hopefully the girl wouldn't mind doing something out of the ordinary. Well, maybe not so out of the ordinary. Everyone was headed to the carnival and Dom intended on going, with a friend. Well, with Juliet, to be specific.

Juliet, walking out of the Great Hall, was chatting with a group of her fellow Hufflepuffs. For once, she was all caught up with her homework and studying, and as a result she was planning to spend the day relaxing and enjoying some peace and quiet. That was, until she saw Dominique skipping toward her across the Entrance Hall. Juliet raised an eyebrow when the Ravenclaw asked how busy she would be that day. Juliet was familiar with Dom's... impulsive nature on occasions, but she looked so happy that Juliet would have felt guilty dampening her spirits. "Not very," Juliet sighed, wishing her day of relaxation goodbye. "Did you have something you wanted to do in mind?"

Juliet seemed … a little disappointed when Dom reached her. Dom was good at reading people. Huh. That just meant she would have to come up with something especially good to do with the Hufflepuff. Juliet really was such a sweetheart and Dom was thrilled when she said that she wasn’t very busy. Dom grinned at her. “Well … I was thinking about doing something outside. Actually, at the carnival, but I was thinking it would be more fun to go with someone. Would you be interested?” Dom tried to make her expression innocent, but she was almost sure she already knew Juliet’s answer. Who wouldn’t want to go to the carnival? And who wouldn’t want to go with Dom? It was a win-win situation all around.

The carnival? Although Juliet had been looking forward to relaxing, she couldn't say no. The carnival looked like a lot of fun, but Juliet had only ever bothered to go once, and all she did while she was there other than walk around was build a cheesy-looking fake wand. Hopefully Dom would be better at choosing things to do than Juliet. "Sure," Juliet smiled, and she began walking towards the tall Hogwarts doors. However, after only a couple steps, she stopped. "Thanks, by the way," she said. It was a casual enough comment, but the invite actually meant a lot to Juliet. She didn't have a lot of friends anymore, except a few of her fellow Hufflepuffs, so she appreciated anyone's kindness -- even though Juliet felt she might have been the fifth or sixth person Dom had asked.

(Sorry I didn't reply until the carnival was over! Maybe they could end up going somewhere else in Hogsmeade instead?)

Dom's smile widened when Juliet agreed to come with her. Hooray! Of course, if she didn't want to, Dom could probably find someone else to accompany her, but it was a while since the last time when she spent time with her Hufflepuff friend. "Yay!" Dom squealed and reached forward, taking Juliet's hand. When Juliet thanked her, Dom looked over at the girl curiously. "Of course," she answered with a smile. "It's been way too long since we last did something together and I just thought this was perfect!" Dom shrugged as she led the way from the castle to the carnival. "So ... how's this year going for you?" she asked curiously. Maybe they'd get to more friend-like conversation later, but Dom had no problem starting with the general questions as they walked.

Juliet found it difficult to hide her happiness as she followed Dom through the grounds, chuckling at her friend's excitement. When Dom asked how her year had been going, it made her realize just how long it had been since the two met last. "It's been going pretty well, I guess," she answered, shrugging. In reality, there was a lot that had happened to her during the year that she didn't want to bring up. "What about you?" She looked over at her friend inquisitively.

Juliet was obviously happy, even though she didn't know specifics on what she was about to do. Neither did Dom, but that was beside the point. The two were going to have a blast! She heard Juliet chuckled and smiled to herself. If Juliet was happy, Don would absolutely count that as a success. "You guys?" Dom asked, lifting her eyebrows in teasing expression. That kind of an answer was definitely not enough for the Ravenclaw and Juliet should know better. As the question was returned to herself,Don grinned and shrugged. "It's been a good year! A few hard bits, but having the tournament has been fun and my classes are going well. Also ... A carnival!!" She laughed, slightly overdoing her enthusiasm, but not much. She wouldn't be surprised if hat friends didn't notice

Juliet, her mouth turned up in a smile, nodded in agreement with Dom as the Ravenclaw stated that the Tournament had been fun and classes were going well. Juliet agreed, for the most part anyway. She didn't quite understand the Tournament, but she was still looking forward to seeing the next task. At Dom's enthusiasm for the carnival, Juliet just giggled.
Juliet had noticed that Dom seemed to want to know more about her year. "I mean, everything's been good overall, I'm just always worried that... I don't know, something awful is going to happen when I least expect it," the Hufflepuff explained, trying not to be too specific. She was thinking about the Muggleborn attacks, but she preferred not to talk about that topic when the day was going so well. "But that doesn't matter right now. What are we going to do first at the carnival?" She was intentionally trying to change the topic, but she hoped Dom wouldn't find it rude.

Juliet seemed to agree with the things Dom was saying, though she couldn't be entirely positive since all the girl did was smile, nod and giggle. Still, those were good, positive reactions so Dom was happy with them. She liked feeling like she was helping the people around her be happy.
At Juliet's next words, Dom sobered a bit. She nodded, understanding. "I get that, Juliet," Dom answered softly. She hated thinking about the attacks that happened last year and the struggles that everyone (not just her) had to go through because of them. While having her boyfriend murdered in front of her was one of the more extreme situations, she knew she was not alone in worrying about what would come next. That said, Dom wasn't one to let her worries about the future control her. Memories of the past, maybe, but not the future. "But I feel like the most important thing for us to do is prepare for whatever's coming and help those around us, but not dwell on it. When we dwell, we forget to live and enjoy ourselves, which just makes life harder." Which she knew from personal experience. "Which brings us to your last question. What are we going to do! Well, there are a few rides, like a roller coaster and a ferris wheel that we could go on or we could play in the booths. Do you have a preference?"

At Don's reply, Juliet remembered that Dom had, in fact, been dating Ethan when he died. And Juliet thought the attacks had been hard for her... She couldn't even imagine how Dom must have felt, but if the Ravenclaw could go through that and be okay in the end, Juliet could as well. She nodded when Dom said that when you dwell, you forget to live and be happy. She had given others similar advice in the past, but she always had trouble following it herself. "I agree. I'm still working on it, though," she said.
Although it was nice to finally tell someone how she was feeling, Juliet was glad when Dom changed the subject. "Ooh, that all sounds like fun! But I think we should go on some rides first, I don't think I've been on a rollercoaster in forever," she said, although she would be happy to do something else if Dom preferred.

Dom nodded when Juliet said she was working on living and being happy. Wasn't that the truth for all of them? After the horrors of last year, a part of Dom was surprised that everyone in the school could be so cheerful this year, yet they had been. Clearly the desire to actually live outweighed fears and mourning. It was a good thing. "Yeah, I think most of us are. It just takes some time getting used to." Dom knew about that. She'd only just started moving on this last month. Apparently her grieving process was long and strung out, which was not something she enjoyed.
Dom grinned when Juliet said she wanted to try rides. "Do you even know me Juliet? I am always down for rides. The crazier the better in my book!" She looked around and pointed to the rollercoaster that wasn't too far away. "How does that one look to you?" She linked her arm with Juliet's and started pulling the girl in the direction before she said anything. Granted, if she did protest, Dom would release her, of course. And then she'd follow her to whatever Juliet wanted to do. She was just so excited to be here!

Juliet nodded her head, agreeing silently with Dom when she said that finding the happiness in such difficult times took some getting used to. Apparently a year hadn't been long enough for Juliet to completely get over everything that had happened either, but she decided it would be her goal from now on to focus on the positive things in life. She heard from a lot of people that being positive was important, although she didn't know how much of a difference it would make. Well, there was one way to find out, and the carnival seemed like a good place to start.
Juliet laughed when the Ravenclaw claimed the crazier the better when it came to rides. "Why am I not surprised?" she grinned to her friend in response. Dom pointed to a rollercoaster and asked Juliet if that one looked good. It was a little high up in the air for Juliet's liking, but the best way to get over her fear was to face it, right? "I guess I don't really have a choice, do I?" she asked with a giggle as Dom started pulling her toward the rollercoaster. That was an agreement on Juliet's part; even if the coaster seemed intimidating, she would be having fun with Dom either way.

Dom couldn't help but smile when Juliet laughed at her comment. Part of the reason she said things like that were to get a rise out of people, to make them laugh or argue with her or something. The fact that it worked with Juliet was just a plus. While Dom had her own issues letting her emotions out and getting over them, she did not like to see others struggle with the same things. That was part of the reason why she reached out to Juliet today. The other part was really because she and the girl hadn't done anything together in so long. Dom gave an easy shrugged, "What can I say? I'm an open book." Hardly, but she was normally so bubbly and cheerful that people often thought that was all there was to her. They were mistaken, but they also didn't need to know that. Dom was perfectly content keeping secrets like that to herself. Juliet said she didn't really have a choice, and while Dom took that as her agreeing, she had to call the girl out on it. "Of course you have a choice!" she exclaimed. "I mean, I'm pulling you in that direction because I think you actually do want to try that ride out, but if you don't all you have to do is say so and we'll try something else. I'm not a slave driver, you know." Dom said the last part with a smile, wanting to make sure Juliet understood that she wouldn't force her to do anything. They were getting close to the line now though and Dom felt excitement rising up in her. The excitement was often even better than the rides.

Juliet giggled at Dom's comment as the two of them finally reached the line for the coaster. It seemed like she was always giggling or laughing when she was spending time with Dom, but that was a good thing in Juliet's opinion. "Don't worry, I'm just playing along. Of course I actually want to ride it," she smiled at the Ravenclaw. As the duo got closer and closer to the rollercoaster's boarding area, the Hufflepuff began to feel more and more nervous, or maybe excited? A little bit of both, she decided.
The line passed fairly quickly. Before Juliet knew it, she was taking a seat in one of the coaster cars and pulling down a lap bar. She looked over to Dom with a slightly anxious smile. "Here we go!" she said, almost squealing. She acted like a first year again at the carnival, but perhaps that wasn't a bad thing.

At least Juliet was happy. Rather, she was laughing. That didn't always mean that one was happy, but to Dom it was a fairly good indication. Besides, Juliet was pretty serious a few minutes ago, so her giggling now meant that she moved on, right? Either way, Dom was going to behave as if she had. "Good! I would have held off for you if you didn't want to ride it, but I also would have been a bit disappointed," Dom admitted. "At least now I don't have to be!" She squealed a little in excitement as they approached the ride.
The line seemed a bit long for Dom's taste, but she was very pleased when she realized that it seemed a lot longer than it actually was. She wasn't going to have to wait long for this. Once they got in the car and were ready to go, Dom glanced over at Juliet, grinning. The girl seemed a little nervous, so Dom reached over and patted her hand. "Don't worry Juliet. I won't let anything happen to you," she teased. Once the ride started moving, however, her focus was entirely on the thrill.
Dom lived for the feeling of weightlessness and the pit that rose and fell in her stomach when she went on roller coasters. She never noticed that feeling come from anything else, and since she didn't get to ride coasters very often, this sort of thing was definitely a treat to her. She laughed and raised her hands almost the entire way, turning to Juliet once the ride slowed down again, excitement beaming from her expression. "So? What did you think?" she asked breathlessly.
