Dom looked like she was having the time of her life on the rollercoaster, while Juliet probably looked like she thought her life was about to end. The Hufflepuff was having fun on the inside, really, but on the outside she was screaming more than a five year old having a tantrum and holding onto her lap bar with white knuckles.
She took a deep breath once the ride finally slowed down, more out of relief than anything. "It was... exciting!" she replied when Dom asked her what she thought of the ride. "I'm most likely never going to do it again, but exciting," she added jokingly. The lap bars of the coaster car lifted up, and Juliet hopped out of her seat a little too enthusiastically. "So, what next?" she asked, letting Dom decide their next activity.

Juliet's reaction to the rollercoaster was, in all honesty, hilarious. She was looking like she was trying to have fun, but also like she was terrified out of her wits. During the entire ride, she was screaming and it didn't sound like the I'm-having-fun kind. Dom, on the other hand, couldn't keep herself from laughing. She really had too much fun doing things like this.
Wow. She looked over at Juliet when the ride was slowing, after she asked her question, and was a bit surprised at how white the girl's face was. "Exciting," Dom repeated, obviously a little skeptical of what her Hufflepuff friend was saying. Then the girl amended her statement and Dom found herself nodding. That wasn't too hard to believe, for sure. "Are you sure you're okay?" Dom asked as they disembarked from the ride. She found herself a little concerned. She didn't want to make Juliet sick, especially not since the day just started. "Uhhh ... bumper broomsticks?" she asked curiously. She wasn't sure if Juliet liked flying but it was a kid ride, definitely not too hard so it seemed like a break to Dom. "Or do you see something else around that you'd rather do?" She asked, ready for whatever.

Juliet was appreciative of her friend's concern when Dom asked her if she was alright. "Don't worry, I'm fine," the Hufflepuff replied with a smile. It was just a rollercoaster, after all -- it wasn't like she had been in any real danger. Still, she thought Dom's suggestion of bumper broomsticks seemed like a nice, tame activity, especially after the thrill of the rollercoaster. "Bumper broomsticks sounds good to me," she replied. Juliet wasn't much of a Quidditch player, and Dom was Ravenclaw's team captain, so Juliet was pretty sure she knew which one of them was the better flier, but it would still be fun. Besides, the whole point of bumper broomsticks was to run into other people, so it couldn't be that difficult.

Juliet reassured Dom that she would be fine and the Ravenclaw nodded, though she was still watching her friend closely. She knew that sometimes roller coasters had the ability to make some people sick, which she really hoped wouldn't be the case here. If Juliet got sick then they definitely weren't going to be able to have fun. At least, not together. Dom wasn't sure what Juliet would do if she got sick, though. She might try to hide it, which was one of the reasons Dom watched her closely. She smiled when Juliet agreed to her next suggestion. "You know, we can stop and do something else if you'd prefer," she told the girl. "I chose the roller coaster, so it is your turn ..." Dom trailed off, waiting for Juliet to say something in return. She really didn't want to pressure the girl, she just wanted to make sure that she enjoyed herself.

Even after Juliet assured that she was fine, Dom was still concerned for her, but in all honesty the Hufflepuff found it sweet, probably because she was usually the one worried about others. Juliet didn't feel sick from the rollercoaster, necessarily, just a bit shocked from the intensity of it all. Dom said they could do something else, and Juliet shrugged. She would be happy to do anything Dom wanted to do, but maybe if they took a break from rides the Ravenclaw wouldn't be so concerned for her. "Alright, how about we grab a snack? I've heard carnival food is really good for you," Juliet joked.
She ambled over to a nearby food stall with Dom and glanced up at the menu. She noticed that they were selling a deep fried version of an American Muggle sandwich cookie, which seemed like an entirely different way to get a heart attack than from a rollercoaster, so she opted for a pretzel. "What do you want? I can pay," Juliet said to Dom after she ordered for herself, pulling a couple of Sickles from her pocket.

Juliet said that she was hungry, asking if Dom wanted to grab a snack and Dom grinned at her, nodding her head. "I never say no to food!" She answered enthusiastically, laughing at her friend's comment about carnival food. "Well ... I don't know about good for you, but it's definitely good to eat!" The fact that carnival food definitely wasn't healthy didn't matter to Dom. She didn't care about that.
Dom let Juliet lead her to some food and watched them cooking. She wasn't really sure what she want, or what sounded appetizing to her, so she took a few seconds looking around. Then she saw the popcorn. "I want some popcorn," she said to the person in the stall, turning and winking at Juliet. The girl wouldn't care that she wasn't getting real food. After all, the Hufflepuff just got a pretzel. "Thanks Juliet," Dom added as she picked up a handful of popcorn and threw it in her mouth.
@juliet (sooooo all carnival threads are supposed to end by the end of the month. Do you want to end this one? Or we could do a few more posts each? I'm good either way!)

"No problem," Juliet smiled at Don's words of thanks. She took a bite of her pretzel, enjoying the salty taste. It was definitely much different from anything served at the castle. As she strolled away from the stall, she remembered the day, six years ago, when she first learned about the house elves who worked in the kitchens from her friends in Hufflepuff. Coming from a Muggle family, she thought it was all so strange back then, and now she was referring to things like "bumper broomsticks" like it was no big deal.
Maybe things at Hogwarts hadn't been going perfect lately, but as she spent the rest of the day laughing and having fun at the carnival with Dom, Juliet actually felt grateful that she was a witch for the first time in a long time. Once the sky started to fade from blue to hues of pale orange and pink, the two seventh years began the walk back to the Hogwarts castle. "See you," Juliet said in the entrance hall, before heading to the Hufflepuff common room, glad she had decided to go on an adventure today after all.
@dominique (The end!)
