As far as days could have gone this one hadn't been bad so far. The classes for the day were pretty easy and nothing involved group work which was always a joy to him. Finding a partner in a group of strangers was never fun. Sure he knew their names but he hadn't actually talked to many people and lacked the desire to change that just yet. As Daniel left his final class for the day was actually in a decent mood and wasn't sure what to do with his time as he just decided to go to the common room first to drop off his things. At least that was what he planned till he met a crowd of what looked like first or second years blocking the corridor he was going planning on going through.
He wasn't about to let this ruin his day but was it so much to ask that this school didn't try to annoy him at least once a day. Yet he couldn't blame Hogwarts for this, if he had actually thought back he would have realized first years had been just like this back in Ilvermorny. Daniel tried to get passed the crowd but most seemed fixated on some new spell one of them learned and they blocked the way as they looked on.
He groaned for a second as he just wanted through which was soon followed by a small laugh from him. "If you idiots move I'll show you some real magic." Daniel announced to the group as he probably didn't need to call them idiots but they deserved it for blocking the way. None of them said much but they let him and the few people that had also been blocking through to the other side and waited for what he would show them. "Well?" One asked as Daniel kept walking away and he stopped for a second as they were waiting for something. "The real magic was in you all along." Daniel replied in a sarcastic tone and laughed as he could see the group complaining and going back to blocking the way as Daniel just shook his head because they didn't learn anything and kept walking again.

Edmund was already done with classes for the day, but he was bored which wasn't a good thing as of late, especially since he was bored and in a bad mood. Most people in the castle already knew that they should stay away from him when he was in a mood like this, but not everyone did. Their loss.
He was leaning against a corridor wall on the first floor, semi-entertained by a bunch of young stuents who had the passage blocked. Normally that wouldn't be a big problem, except classes just got out and Ed could see the crowd of people stuck on the other side of the group, which somehow remained oblivious. Edmund watched with a curious eye. Was anyone going to do something about this or would they just endure it. He gave a small chuckle, knowing that if he were on the other side, it wouldn't be hard for him to get through. Most younger students were afraid of him, especially if he looked angry.
He watched with interest when a Gryffindor boy walked up to the group and told them to move and then he'd show them some magic. He walked right on through before telling them he didn't have anything to show them. A sly smile covered Ed's face. That was his kind of person. He noticed the kids starting to group back together, grumbling with one another and still not noticing the crowd behind them.
As the boy approached, probably trying to get off the floor, Ed nodded to him. "Nice job getting them out of your way," he complimented in a grumble. As bad of a mood as he was in, he still appreciated what the other guy had done. He looked at his face a little closer. Did Ed know him?

Now that he was on his way Daniel could get back to what was planned, which was nothing but still there was always homework or studying to do. Neither of which excited him but what else was he to do yet before he could too far Daniel was stopped once more. Well not so much forced to stop but willingly did as a student he was about to pass had talked to him about what had just happened. Daniel just smirked for a second as he looked back to the crowd. "Well it was either that or a jet of water pushing them out of my way. At least that way didn't get me another detention." Daniel made a quick laugh as the image of clearing a path through the first years with a jet of water from his wand amused him.
Turning back to the student before him, they did seem familiar. Typically that meant they were either in the same house or he had classes with them making them the same year. "Still another detention might just be worth it." He said as Daniel was just kidding, they were no longer in his way and he couldn't personally care if they kept standing there. Daniel was now trying to think of where he had seen the person before him and decided it had to have been from class. "I'm Daniel by the way," was his introduction as he couldn't remember if he had ever talked to this person or not.

At the sound of his voice the boy stopped, which Edmund was glad for. Of course, he wasn’t in the mood to chase the boy down so if he hadn’t stopped, Edmund would have let him go and found him a different day, but it was always more fun to deal with these things in the moment. After all, all Ed really wanted to do was compliment the guy. He liked the way he handled that situation. Edmund might have to use something similar in the future.
He pushed off the wall as the guy drew closer, and answered his compliment with a smirk and a comment about blasting them with water. Ed’s own wry smile grew at that idea. ”Yeah, detention avoided,” he agreed, listening as the guy said it might have been worth it. Edmund nodded resolutely, ”Sometimes getting a detention is worth it just to show everyone to stay out of your way.” Granted, Ed hadn’t had to do that for a while now. Most everyone knew to stay out of his way when he was in one of his moods, but he liked the way this guy thought.
He introduced himself as Daniel and Ed nodded at him. ”I’m Edmund. I think you and I are in the same year … but I’m a Slytherin” he trailed off, thinking. He recognized the guy, but not too much. Maybe enough that they were in the same class, but why did it take so long for Edmund to notice him if they were in the same year?

"Isn't that the truth." Daniel replied with a small laugh as the person in front of him spoke of letting people know to stay out of the way. While Daniel was normally nice enough about just going around people, preferring to not get involved. It seemed too many people just insisted on staying in the way no matter what. "If anything teaching them a lesson is just performing a public service. Eventually after enough blasts of water I assume they'd learn to stay out of everyone's way." While Daniel said that with hope that it could work he highly doubted it. First years were as dense as it got he felt even if had been one at one time himself.
As Edmund introduced himself Daniel could finally place his as they indeed had some classes together. "Yes we are in the same year, I remember you from some classes I think. I'm in thunder.. Gryffindor." Daniel still used his old house sometimes when he meant to say Gryffindor, he had spent five years saying he was a Thunderbird that it still came up.

This guy understood. He seemed to have the same kind of attitude and disposition toward people that were in the way as Edmund did, which was something entirely refreshing. Most people here just glared at Edmund for being rude, which he didn't really care about, but it got annoying after a while. "That's what you'd think," Edmund agreed with the boy, "but from my experience of messing with them for six years, they still haven't learned." He wasn't talking about first-years now, more the other students in general. While he didn't necessarily expect the older students to move for him, they didn't generally tend to block corridors either.
Edmund nodded as Daniel started explaining that they were in the same year and had a few classes together. He started to say the house from his old school and then switched, saying he was from Gryffindor. Edmund thought about asking him about it, but decided that if the guy wanted to talk he would. "Well nice to meet you," Edmund said politely, his up-bringing coming out a little. He looked around them and a sly smile covered his face. "Other than people not knowing better than to stand in your way, how are you liking it here?" Probably not as much as his old school, but Edmund was trying to be considerate, for once.

"No, I don't suppose they do learn." Daniel replied as he did have to agree with that sentiment. There will always be those people who either have no common sense to stay out of the way of other people or just aren't considerate enough to care. "Still if I say I'm just trying to help everyone else out by teaching them a lesson I get to have some fun and seem like I'm doing it for a good cause." While he explained himself it probably sounded like he was just using that as an excuse if something bad happened but he did hope they would learn some lesson about moving one day. You couldn't be a clueless first year for the rest of your life.
Daniel nodded as Edmund said it was nice to meet him and so far Daniel had no real reason to be sarcastic about much. They both shared the same idea about people blocking their way and that was refreshing enough. Too many people would have been too polite to do much about it but slowly make it a crossed. "Likewise." He finally replied as Daniel listen on while Edmund asked him about how he was getting along at Hogwarts. "It's alright, plenty of things to miss but Hogwarts also has plenty of things Ilvermorny doesn't. Good and bad." Daniel had learned to not outright talk bad about Hogwarts, people didn't tend to like it and some even took offense to it.

Edmund nodded at Daniel, still feeling pretty good that he found someone who seemed to agree with his outlook when it came to dealing with other people. "Exactly," he agreed with the other boy. Then he shrugged, "though I'm too lazy to really come up with reasons. If I got called out on something like that, I'd probably just say they were in my way." And get a detention, but Ed didn't really care that much.
Daniel started explaining his thoughts on Hogwarts in a pretty general way, saying they both had distinct things that were good and bad. So he missed it, but Hogwarts was interesting? That's what Edmund decided to take out of it. He nodded, "One of my favorite things about Hogwarts is the grounds. When you really just want to be alone and not run into people, going outside is a great way to do that. There's so much space, you know." A thought occurred to him and he looked at the gryffindor curiously. "Random question: do you like Quidditch? Or flying?" Because if he did, there was a Quidditch pitch on the grounds and Ed would definitely be interested in practicing/flying sometime.

Daniel laughed a little as Edmund explained how he was too lazy to come up with an excuse and would just take the detention. "And I was always told honesty was rewarded." Daniel replied in a sarcastic tone while joking with Edmund. It wasn't like being honest was a bad thing but it still wouldn't save you if you were the one in the wrong.
"That's for sure about the grounds of Hogwarts, there's plenty of room around this school. IIvermorny is on top of a mountain so it doesn't have much in the way of school grounds." Daniel explained as he did miss his school but he couldn't lie and say that grounds or lake of Hogwarts weren't nice. With a smirk Daniel listened as Edmund asked him if he liked Quidditch or flying, the answer to both being yes. "I actually used to be a Beater back home, the Gryffindor team was already full when I started. Besides I wasn't much in the mood to join anyway even if they did have a spot." Daniel did look at the team when he first started at Hogwarts but he hadn't been in the mood to bother and honestly he still wasn't about to join the team right away but he did miss playing. "I assume since you asked you enjoy both? It would be odd if you didn't." Daniel said with a laugh as he just assumed but it would be weird to ask someone what they enjoyed to then say they themselves didn't like it.

Edmund rolled his eyes and smirked as Daniel mentioned that honesty was supposed to be rewarded. "Apparently not when it comes at the discomfort of the people it's directed towards," he responded in a similar tone to Daniel's. Edmund wasn't necessarily one to be cruel to people, but he hated how it was "wrong" to tell them when they were being idiots. Sometimes people needed to be corrected, but apparently that wasn't a good thing to do. It hurt their self-esteem or something similiarly ridiculous.
Edmund nodded contemplatively when Daniel mentioned how Ilvermony didn't have much in the way of grounds. At least, not as much as Hogwarts. "Do they have a Quidditch Pitch close to the school?" he asked curiously. No, quidditch wasn't the only thing that mattered, but if Edmund went to a school without a pitch nearby it would have annoyed him. Besides, it fit in with the conversation. Edmund smiled when the boy said he used to be a Beater. Nice. They'd have to play together sometime, if Daniel wanted. He nodded, "That makes sense. Next year they'll probably have more spots open up," he thought for a second, trying to remember who the Gryffindor beaters were. He nodded, "Yeah, they should lose a Beater and a Chaser," he explained after a moment. Edmund might not know most people in the school, but he knew who the Quidditch players were, and what position they had. Then Edmund laughed. "I'm a Chaser," he said with a nod, confirming Daniel's assumption. "You know ... we could practice together sometime if you want," Edmund suggested with a shrug. He liked this kid, and he would always accept any excuse that got him on a broom.

Daniel couldn't help but find some joy in talking about his old school, probably because he missed it that much. "Yeah we've got a Quidditch pitch, we even have a house cup like Hogwarts does. Well besides this year I guess with the tournament and all that going on." Daniel explained as he was a little disappointed that Quidditch was canceled this year even if he wasn't playing. "I don't see why it should be canceled though, there's enough time between challenges to have some Quidditch games." Still it wasn't his place to say and again it wasn't like he was actually playing in those games. Edmund brought up how there might be some spots next year. While right now he didn't really want to play on the Gryffindor team and feel out of place he did miss playing Quidditch in general and that might get the best of him over time. "We'll see about next year, anything is possible."
It was nice to meet someone who was on a Quidditch team or just enjoyed the sport like he did. He hadn't run into many of the other players besides some the other Gryffindor team. "Sounds great to me but I've never met someone so willing to get hit with a bludger before." Daniel replied jokingly as he was always willing to play Quidditch or even if it was just practice just get out there on his broom.

Daniel seemed to brighten up a little about the question about Quidditch and Edmund smiled. He nodded when Daniel said that they had a pitch and a house cup like Hogwarts. "Yeah, this year has been a bit off," he said. "Normally he house cup is the most important thing of the year," Ed paused a moment. "I mean, like the most looked-forward to event." Surely Daniel would understand that, especially since he played. Quidditch players always considered the sport important, from Ed's experience. He grimaced at Daniel when the guy mentioned that there seemed to be plenty of time for Quidditch. "That's what I thought," Ed grumbled. "I think they were just trying to make things simpler, but I really just want Quidditch back." He couldn't help it. Quidditch was one thing that Edmund really looked forward to and this year it was gone. He nodded when the boy said that next year he might join, anything was possible.
Edmund shrugged when Daniel mentioned that Ed seemed rather excited to get hit by a bludger. "I just need to get on the pitch. Go ahead an hit me with a bludger, I just miss the game." Wow, that came out rather intense, but it was how Ed felt. Quidditch was one of his favorite things about the magic world and not having it this year was the worst.

Daniel could understand how Edmund felt about it feeling off without the Quidditch house cup happening. His old school had a Quidditch cup, as well as a few other events like that. Still Quidditch always did take center stage to the other events. It was nice to have someone to talk to about Quidditch as he probably missed the game as much as Edmund. Sure Daniel could have gone out looking for someone to talk to about it but that just wasn't him right now. "Still there is so much time between the trials, it wouldn't hurt them to have some kind of game going on. Seems silly to just have the pitch sitting there doing nothing besides practices." Daniel just didn't see the point of not using a Quidditch pitch but that was possibly his love of the game talking.
"Hey your the one asking me to hit you, just remember that." Daniel said with a laugh for a second. It's probably not what Edmund meant to say but Daniel could certainly understand the feeling. "Still if you ever want to get knocked off your broom I'm ready when you are."

Edmund was glad that he seemed to have found a friend that was as passionate about Quidditch as he was. Granted, he had Addi but they hadn't spoken in ages so she didn't count. In fact, for the first time in a while Ed was starting to feel like he'd begun to move on from the girl that held his attention for so long. He nodded enthusiastically at Daniel. "I know! I feel exactly the same way. There's penthouse of time in between the tasks. Even if they didn't want to do the house cup, they could just give us a few games to give us something to do." He paused a moment before continuing. "Besides that, there are seventh years who might not ever get another chance to play after this year and the tournament is taking that chance away from them."
Red laughed when Daniel said he was asking to get hit and Ed laughed. This was interesting, the way he just seemed to get along with this guy. Ed didn't get along well with most people. At least, not right off the bat. "Don't worry about that. I basically ask my older brother to hit me all the time. I'm used to it." Ed meant the quip about Will in jest, but Daniel didn't know him, so that wouldn't even matter. Ed smirked at the other boy. "I'm always ready for Quidditch. Just name your time... Or we could have a go this Saturday if you want?" he didn't want the other boy to feel pushed into this, but Ed was really excited at the idea of playing Quidditch sometime soon.

Daniel hadn't ever heard the expression of penthouse of time but it was easy to understand what he meant just by the context of the rest of what Edmund said. "Well if it comes down to it, I guess students can host their own games. Hell even have some kind of unofficial house cup." Daniel said with a laugh as he wasn't sure if that would be against any rules but he didn't see why it would be. If they weren't banned from using the pitch what's to say they couldn't have their own house games. It just seems silly Quidditch was stopped all together.
"I'm going to assume you mean with bludgers." Daniel said with a slight laugh as he figured that would be the case but Edmund just worded it a little funny to him or more likely Daniel's imagination just thought of Edmund's brother just hitting him when he asked for it. "Saturday sounds perfect to me, it's not like I have any plans anyway so sure." Daniel replied as he was just excited to be playing Quidditch once more while it was also true that he didn't have any plans for Saturday besides just catching up on some studying or class assignments.
