Daniel wasn't sure if you could actually get kicked out of the Hogwarts library for repeated groaning or sighing. Yet if it was possible he had to be on his way by now. Having a free day from classes shouldn't have involved so much homework, if that was what the professors expected they could just skip the free day and have class instead of homework. At least then it wouldn't be a choice between free time or finishing class work they would just be in class like normal. Still Daniel had to admit that if he had been smarter with his time he probably would have had an actual free day.
With books on one side of the table and his bag near by Daniel tried his best to get more homework done. Well not his best but he tried at least and his urge to procrastinate grew more and more till he wasn't thinking about the class work but just how bored he was. Reaching into his bag he pulled out a small smooth triangular piece of wood. Daniel had picked it up from a joke shop in Hogsmeade during his last trip there. He had kept it in his bag for some reason and should have known it was a bad idea.
Still with the librarian pacing the tables and his urge to have some fun growing he didn't listen to the voice that spoke common sense. Daniel waited for the right time as he stood the triangle up by holding it up with one finger. Once the librarian had passed by once more he flicked the triangle with his other hand sending it flying. It made one large loop then returned to him just before the librarian could notice. This became his new game and anytime she passed by he did it again, each time people seemed to notice more and laugh a little which only encourage Daniel in this bad idea.
Finally the sixth time came as the librarian passed him but this time the little magical boomerang which is what the joke shop called it didn't return. "What the..." he muttered to himself as he was so used to it returning he didn't even watch it anymore but watched the librarian. Daniel looked around and under his table but didn't see it. "Well that's just great." He said with a sigh now with nothing else to do.

522 words for @crimson1 A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI It was a free period for the young fifth year girl. She usually has nothing to do on the days like this. It’s usually because her homework is usually done. And she had her school uniform in her bag. She doesn’t really like wearing the school uniforms but will when she has too. Normally she just slips them on top of the clothes she is wearing. She looked at her Charms Homework and didn’t think it was good enough. Something was missing from her essay and she knew it. She just didn’t know what was missing. She let out a sigh because she knew where that would mean she would have to go to the library. It’s not that Carleigh didn’t like the library. She did like the library due to all of the exciting books. But during her free period she prefers to keep it library free.
She was glad though that she was only one floor above the library when it came to her dorm room. She loved the school because of the size and the history of the school. Sure she wasn’t Harry Potter’s child. But she could see how one would love magic. She was really enjoying learning how to do magic along with her twin brother. She never thought that she would even be able to learn magic. Considering both of her parents were muggles. But her three older brothers were half bloods. Which it still makes them targets due to being related to muggle borns! She didn’t like to think of her brothers being in danger just as much as herself. She couldn’t shake off the nightmares she has had in the past. Last night she finally didn’t have a nightmare that was scary. She actually had a good dream.
Walking into the library she had a small smile upon her face. She walked round a bit looking for the right book when she saw a boomerang go by. It made her smile though. It meant one thing to her and that was that a kid was bored enough to throw in the library. She walked around a bookshelf and saw a boy who was cute that was throwing the boomerang. He must have been a year higher than she was. She could tell that he was in a different house than she was and had never seen him around school or at least she didn’t think she did. He seemed new to her. She saw him throw it once more after the librarian walked by. This time it didn’t come back. And she wondered why it hadn’t come back to him. Wasn’t boomerangs supposed to go back to the person who threw it?
Stepping out from behind the bookshelf she wondered if he wanted any help with his school work. She smiled a little bit. “Hi there you must be either new or I just haven’t seen you around before.” She said a bit quietly. “My name is Carleigh Greene and I was wondering if you would like help with some of your school work?” She asked him with a small smile upon her face.

Daniel went from just sitting there now annoyed that he had nothing to do besides his schoolwork to trying to figure out where it had gone a few times. It was only a couple Knuts so he hadn't been expecting any wonders but Daniel did imagine it would keep being a boomerang longer than that. Five throws before it just became a bit of wood he was chucking around made him feel like he had been ripped of. With his third attempt of looking around and under his desk he called it quits. Daniel wasn't about to search the whole library and look suspicious while doing so. That only left him with the work in front of him, or at least Daniel thought till he heard the voice of a girl talking to him.
Turning to in the direction of the voice and processing what she had said he looked at her trying to figure out if he had seen her or not either. Still his sarcasm knew no bounds especially with how annoyed he was about losing the Boomerang earlier. "Really you don't remember me? That really hurts. My heart, it aches now." Daniel replied in his usual tone of being obviously sarcastic before actually answering the girl. "No don't worry, we've never met I only started here this year." Daniel was sure that they had never met as he looked at the girl once more wondering why she just came out of nowhere it seemed.
Daniel smirked slightly as she introduced herself but it wasn't so much for her stating her name but when she asked if he wanted help with his schoolwork. "Are you offering to do it for me? Cause by all means I'll be back in a hour to pick it up just make sure to put Daniel McKay on the top of it." Another sarcastic comment but he had at least introduced himself with it. He wasn't sure why she was offering to help him but from her smile she seemed probably like just a nice person. "I'm kidding by the way, I don't expect you to do that. I'll be fine I just get bored easily."

357 words for @crimson1 A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI Carleigh waited for the guy to speak. The young teen tilted her head to the right a little. She was realized after a second that he was being sarcastic. She wondered how he could be so sarcastic about her question. But then again she would probably be the same way if someone had asked her if she was new. But of course she’d probably say it without being sarcastic. “You’ve only started this year?” She asked him in a bit of a surprised tone. She was amazed that he wasn’t a first year. She then wondered how that could be. He had to be older than eleven. He looked like he could be at least fifteen years old. But if he wasn’t a first year then he must have moved here. But from where did he move from and why?
She then looked away for a moment and thought about asking why. A little voice in her head told her not to ask the boy in front of her why he moved here. Partly because he could have moved here as part of a Protective Witness Program or his family moved here for one reason or another! Her mind was now getting away with her. Heck he could have murdered someone and is on the run from the law. She knew where this was going to go. “Excuse me but do you mind telling me why you moved here?” She asked politely with a slight smile upon her face.
Carleigh looked at him for a moment when he was being sarcastic towards her once more. “I’m sorry but I don’t do people’s homework for them. I help them out with the homework. Otherwise how else will you learn?” She said with a small smile. “Of course I should have asked you what year are you in because if you’re higher than a fifth year I can’t help you due to that I am a fifth year.” She said with a small smile. “Well why not take a study break and let’s get this librarian some work to do?” She said with a small smile upon her face.

Daniel watched the girls face as she asked about how he had only just started here. He was used to that look, it would seem transfers were just as rare here as they were back in his home school. It was just another thing that made him feel like an outsider and he was getting used to it. "Yep." Daniel answered as he figured that would be the end of that and they could move on. Yet the girl seemed interested in why he had only just started this year.
"Moved? No my letter just got lost in the mail." Daniel said jokingly with only a hint of sarcasm. He had planned on being much more sarcastic but the girl was smiling and asked him politely. He didn't want to be outright rude. "I'd rather not if you don't mind." Daniel explained responding honestly to her question. It wasn't something he shared often or at least in full detail. The most people knew he was just a transfer from Hogwarts nothing about being forced against his will here. "Would you believe I got ran out of America and Hogwarts was the only place that would take me?" Daniel asked genuinely curious is someone could possibly believe that. "If so, go with that."
Daniel just smirked slightly as she didn't realize he had just been kidding or at least she felt the need to explain that she didn't do others work. "I can learn by watching you do it. That's a thing right?" The answer was no but that didn't stop him from jokingly asking him. "Well it's a good thing I didn't actually want you to do my work for me, your one year off from helping me. I'm in the sixth year." He replied as she explained how much she could help and with that she was a year off being a fifth year. If only she had been rude or didn't smile as much he might have blown her off and done something else but she just smiled and seemed happy enough that he couldn't be that rude, at least yet. "Well ladies first, lets see that the new girl at this table has got planned."

371 words for @crimson1 A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI A little laugh had slipped from the young girl’s mouth when all he said was yep. Carleigh thought that he mustn’t be much of a talker. This is understandable being new and all! She would have felt the same thing as well if she was new in a different school then Hogwarts. She also couldn’t picture herself moving to a different school. She wondered if she was making him feel like an outsider. She sure hoped that she wasn’t making him feel that way.
Another laughed from her mouth. She hadn’t heard that one before. “I haven’t heard that before.” She said with a chuckle. She was really thinking this guy is funny. She also thought he was kind of cute in his own way. She smiled a little bit when he said he rather not if she didn’t minded. “It’s okay you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.” She said with a smile upon her face. She did say if he didn’t mind and he did mind. It would be rude if she demanded to know the reason. “That’s why you talk different than the rest of us.” She said with a smile upon her face. “So is America a cool place?” She asked him with a curious smile upon her face. “And somehow I doubt that you got ran out of America but if you want to say that then I won’t stop you.” She said with a smile upon her face.
Carleigh looked away for a moment when he asked if that was such a thing. “Actually that is a thing since we do watch the Professor’s teaching us how to do spells.” She said with a smile upon her face. “Yeah I’m smart but not sixth year smart. I’ll get there next year. I’m in rush to move up just yet.” She said with a small smile upon her face. She took out her wand for a moment and looked at a stack of books. “Wingardium Leviosa!” She said as the books lifted into the air and she made them moved them to a different pile. “That’s a little something. Got anything better?” She asked him with a small smile upon her face.

"Thanks." Was Daniels reply, it was a quick reply but it was a nice change of pace that someone didn't actually pry into why he had moved here without him being ready to talk about it. Carleigh brought up how he talked differently than everyone else which was what everyone always seemed to notice first as it was one of the most obvious things about him. "It's great. London isn't half bad, neither is Hogwarts but it's just not.. well I'm just not used to it yet." Daniel had been trying to be nice about talking to the Carleigh. She seemed like a nice person and kept smiling so he tried to keep the urge to be snarky about things to a minimum. "Thanks, I have reputation to keep up here that I'm so cool I got kicked out of a whole country." Daniel said as his sarcasm did return a little bit more it was just a joke.
"Hey don't let me stop you, you seem smart enough to give my class work a shot." Daniel responded just kidding once more with Carleigh. Daniel waited as she accepted his challenge and laughed as she moved some books from one pile to another and asked if had anything better. "That's cute, I don't know how I'll ever top that." Daniel replied with a smirk as she did say give the librarian a little extra work and that would be little. Still he didn't want to permanently damage anything. Pulling his wand from out of his bag he pointed it toward the pile of books Carleigh had just moved. "Colovaria," and with that the books changed from dusty black and brown tomes to shades of pink and purple. Nothing that was hard to turn back or permanent. "Well how's that? Got anything better?" Daniel asked teasing her slightly as he waited to see what might happen.

“You’re welcome!” Carleigh replied with a small smile upon her face. She wouldn’t want someone to pry her into saying something. She really didn’t want to make him feel uncomfortable. She was quite happy though that he was starting to sound at least human. She looked at him once he spoke again. “Really?” She asked him once more. “I think I would like to visit America someday. And go everywhere and explore that land.” She said with a small smile upon her face. To her it seemed like it would be a good place to go. And probably start a family there or come back to London and start a family here so her kids could go to Hogwarts. “You’ll get used to Hogwarts someday. Probably by the end of the school year Hogwarts will feel like home.” She said euphuistically.
She looked at him for a moment and saw that he was really encouraging. “You know you’re very encouraging type person.” She said with a smile upon her face. She wasn’t so sure that she could do his homework any justice. She would probably get him a ‘T’ on his assignment. And then she would feel bad because it would have been all her fault that he got a bad grade. “But I am afraid I would get you a ‘T’ on that assignment. And then I would feel bad that you got a bad grade on the assignment.” She said with a small smile upon her face. She looked so surprised when the books colors. “That was good.” She said with a smile on her face. She looked at a book and stood up and went and stood it up some and walked back. “Vera Verto.” She said turning the book into a goblet. “How’s that?” She asked him with a smile upon her face.

Daniel just smirked as she said she'd like to go see American some day which is how he felt normally since he came to London. "Hey, look me up whenever you come over. I'll be your tour guide." Daniel said joking as he didn't plan to be a tour guide or that she would even look him up once she came to America still he did hold the hope of going back to American as soon as he could. Daniel just sighed slightly as Carleigh said he'd be used to it by the end of the year but what was the point. Take a year to get used to where he was to just spend another year at the school. "Yeah I'll probably get used to it but home, no I doubt that."
Carleigh didn't seem to catch that he had just been kidding but he wasn't going to correct her. She probably was a smart person but just couldn't tell when someone was making a joke so far and he wouldn't be mean and tell her what he meant. "That's who I am, Mr. Encouragement." Daniel said with a shrug as that was the last thing he would call himself lately. "You shouldn't feel bad about getting me a bad grade if I was the one asking you to do it for me. I deserve whatever happens besides I'm kidding, I don't need you to do any work for me." Daniel explained as she didn't need to feel bad about a hypothetical situation that wasn't going to happen anyway.
Daniel smirked slightly as Carleigh stepped up her game and changed a book into a goblet. "You're getting better, we might just make a delinquent prankster out of you yet."

Carleigh looked at him for a moment. To her it seemed like he was thinking about moving back after he graduates from Hogwarts. "So I'm guessing that you want to move back to America after you Graduate from here?" She asked him with a small smile upon her face. She liked his company that was for sure. The librarian walked by once more and then told her to keep her voice down. She nodded and looked back at him for a moment. "I'll make sure to visit America someday. It would be a lovely place to visit. Maybe there won't be a librarian who keeps telling us to hush." She said with a small laugh. She then looked at him for a moment. "I am pretty sure that Hogwarts will feel like home before you know it." She said encouragingly. "All you really need to make it feel like home is some good friends." The young girl told him.
She smiled when he said that we was Mr. Encouragement. "Good because that's the last thing I want to do is more school work." The young girl replied. "It's bad enough that I have to study for a very important test near the end of the school year." She said with a roll of her eyes. But she knows that if she wants to become a Professor for Defense Against the Dark Arts and then eventually become Headmistress of Hogwarts she will most likely have to do her best on the exams. She decided that she wanted to become a Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts when she grows up. Because she wants to teach others how to defend themselves.
She smiled a bit with a smile upon her face. "Thank you." She replied. "Think you could do better than that?" She asked with a smile upon her face. Challenging him to do a better job then her little simple spell she learned in second year.

"That's the plan, just waiting till then." Daniel explained about planning to move back home, it was his goal at this time in his life. Still as he spent more time in Europe and further away from his friends back there he heard less and less from them. Would he still really know anyone back home after over two years of being away. "Every library had a librarian that's going to hush you. That's just what comes with having a library. I'm sure it's all in hiring process if they like to hush people if they say a word." He said with a laugh as Daniel replied to Carleigh. Daniel didn't like to thing of Hogwarts as becoming home in no time, he still felt like he had a home that he was ripped from but she was just trying to be nice he assumed. "Possibly, I guess I could hold try outs for friends." Daniel laughed as he was only kidding with Carleigh.
Daniel nodded as he couldn't help but agree with her about not needing anymore work than what they had. "Tell me about it, I still have piles of things to get through and that's not even thinking about the class work they still have left to add on top of it." Daniel explained as he now knew both schools were pretty similar on what they did with school work and what years learned what. "It'll get done somehow even if it ends up being a few all nighters."
"Do better? I don't know that was pretty good but I guess I can try." Daniel replied with a laugh as he knew he could do better but he was just joking with Carleigh. Pointing his wand once more toward the books this time to the goblet Carleigh had created. "Inflatus." With that the Goblet slowly started to expend as if being filled with air, the more it filled the more it start to rose in the air. Finally the goblet floated in the air at it reached the max if could inflate. "Well, it's your turn. Unless you're willing to admit defeat?"

“Sounds like a good plan.” Carleigh told Daniel. “That’s what I probably would have done to if my parents decided up root my siblings and me to America.” She said with a small smile. She couldn’t imagine living in any other country but Britain or Scotland. This was her home and she needed to be near her family and friends. Of course again she does make friends a bit easily. She already considers Daniel a friend. She wondered if he thought that about her. “I think you’re right on that.” She said with a small smile. “It’s too bad they didn’t think of soft talking is okay.” She said with a small frown a bit. She looked at him for a moment. “I can be your friend. I already started to think of you as a friend. You’ve been nothing but nice to me.” She said with a smile upon her face.
“Tell you about it?” She asked him for a moment. “Didn’t I just tell you about it?” She said with a small sarcastic tone to her voice. “What do you want to be when you graduate from school?” She asked him with a small smile. “I, myself, want to be the Defense Against the Dark Art’s Professor. And then someday Headmistress of Hogwarts.” The young girl said proudly. She figured that would be a good profession to be in. She really truly wanted to teach children how to protect themselves because it’s important. “And all nighters are no fun at all.” She said with a small frown. She’s tried to do all nighters when it came to studying a few times. But usually ends up sleeping with her face in her book.
Carleigh’s face lit up with delight when she saw the goblet inflate itself and then floated up into the air. She then couldn’t help but let out quiet laughter so she wouldn’t alert the Librarian. “Oh I give up. That’s more than I can do.” She said with a smile upon her face. “But maybe you could put a little spell on it where if she tries to get to the goblet it’ll float off somewhere else.” She said with a smile upon her face.

Daniel smiled slightly as at least someone agreed with his plans to move back home once he was old enough to be on his own. His father couldn't careless and the few people he had told about it which were a truly small number said he would get used to Europe and would stay or at least give it a chance. "Good to see someone agree, I hardly get that response to that." Daniel explained to Carleigh. With a laugh he listened as she said it was too bad the librarians didn't at least let them whisper without getting in trouble. " Yeah but that would be too nice of them and library's can't have that." Daniel said with a laugh as he was just kidding and chalked librarians being grumpy due to either being bored or tired of the same thing say in and out. With a small laugh Daniel spoke, "Well friend Carleigh I guess you get to skip the friend tryouts."
A small smirk came over his face as she used his words against him. If he had been newer to Europe he would possibly believe they didn't have that saying but he wasn't falling for it here. "Maybe I just liked how much you said it the first time I wanted to hear it again?" Daniel teased her slightly as she was doing to the same to him right now. Carleigh proceeded to ask what he had planned after Hogwarts and he didn't really have an answer and shrugged slightly as she went on about her plans after school. They certainly sounded ambitious but who was he to judge when he had no plans at all and he was even older than her. "Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you, just keep up the studying and hard work I suppose and you'll get there." Daniel explained at least trying to be supportive of Carleigh's goals.
Daniel just smirked once more as she told him he had won and she couldn't top that. Carleigh then asked if he could make it so it just stayed out of reach when the librarian did notice the floating goblet that used to be a book. "I don't see why not but now that your suggesting it I'm blaming you if I get caught." Daniel said only joking with her before turning his attention to the goblet once more. With a few flicks and the appropriate charm it should now try and avoid being touched by most people.

The young teen looked at him for a moment. "Of course it would be too nice of them." She said with a small smile. They wouldn't be doing their jobs if that was the case. Carleigh looked at Daniel for a moment. She was glad that he was quite glad that she wasn't like everyone else. But to be fair it was really up to him if he wanted to leave this country behind and go back to America. It wasn't his father's or the other people's decision. And that's the main reason why she agreed to his plan in the first place. She smiled when he said that she could skip the friend tryouts.
Carleigh laughed when he said that he wanted to hear it again. She was amazed that he was teasing her once more. She didn't mind it because she knew it was all in fun. She didn't like a whole bunch of work that is ahead of her but in order to become what she wanted to, she knew that she too. "That's just what I'll have to do. Study hard and get good grades. And then become the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor." She said with a smile upon her face. It'll be hard but she can do it. She has a feeling that she can do it if she just believes in herself. She knows she can do it.
Carleigh looked at him for a moment and smiled. "But then I'd point out that you could have said no!" She stated with a small smile on her face. She then looked at him for a moment. She wondered if they should split before the librarian comes around again and really do get caught. "Well, I say we split like bananas and leave the library before the Librarian comes back and get caught." She suggested with a smile and before he could reply she ran out of the library.

Daniel just laughed slightly as Carleigh agreed with him about it being too nice of them. He couldn't blame librarians, he could hardly stand being at the library much, just imagine having to be here all day as a job. There were only so many books you could possibly read before getting bored he assumed. That's when they probably got mean and bitter toward anyone breaking the smallest rule.
It must have been nice to have such a goal Daniel thought to himself as Carleigh talked about what she wanted to do after school. Daniel had ideas or could just imagine what he would do but most things involved going back to America first. Which wasn't really anything like having a goal on a profession. "That and maybe some practice taking on stuff from the dark arts but you'll have to be careful there." Daniel explained as it was probably good to have some idea first hand of the dark arts before just becoming a professor but what did he know about it after all.
He just smirked slightly as she told him how she would get out of trouble if Daniel had blamed her. It probably would have worked seeing as how he could have said no. Daniel was going to say something but before he could Carleigh brought up that they should probably leave before the librarian noticed them. She did have a point as they had cast plenty of spells on the books and she would probably flip when she found out. It wasn't anything that couldn't be reversed after all but she would still have gone over board he assumed. Turning back to Carleigh she had already made her exit and he just laughed being left behind for a second. Daniel shrugged and grabbed his things before leaving as the goblet kept floating about seven feet from the floor while he exited the library.
