Thalia was very much excited to go to the carnival that particular day. While part of it was because she needn't have to go alone like the last time, part of it was because she had Brandon with her tagging along. No matter what people say about peace and solitude, and you can see Thalia at times like that, but in the end she knows that nothing is great than having a good time with friends. And that was how her day was going to be spent on. She would just relax herself, which she could't in quite some time. As she was going out with Brandon that day, it caused a few to raise their brows at the possible implication. She knew that they were just friends and would remain such, and brushed off any such rumors and gossips. She was too cheerful the whole night thinking about the time she was going to spend at the carnival, what she would do and such. Although she and Brandon have a few common classes, it was quite difficult for them to see each other more often. It was only possible for them to see at the halls. But other than that, she could not talk to him much. So, may be the whole going out would not be a bad idea after all.

It was the best day, and the weather outside was perfect. She woke up early and hurriedly started to search her trunk for the right clothes to wear. She did not want it to be too grand nor too formal. She dresses up daily in the most formal clothes with black robes over them which make her look like an old lady. But today was a little different than daily, and she wanted to shift from the usual attire. She rummaged through her clothes and picked up a simple jeans and top. It was a great day to be at the village and though it wasn't winter, she decided to wear a coat over, to prevent herself from feeling the cold on their way back in the evening. Besides, after her last visit to Hosmeade which happened to be disastrous due to the rains, she decided to be prepared. Though she was vain about how she looked, her comfort mattered to her a lot. And so surprising her dorm mates she picked out boots to wear rather than the high heels she prefers.

After giving herself a once over in the mirror, Thalia walked up her way from the puff common room to the entrance hall. She looked around the place, and found that there were many students crowded in there waiting for their chance to get into a horse and go to the village. And since they agreed to meet in the village itself, she waited for her turn and got into a carriage and went down to the village. She then looked around, hoping to spot him in the carnival crowd. And considering that she was little on the short side even after adding a bit of height with her boots, it was no use. She looked around and muttered a little too loudly "where are you Brandon?"

It was Saturday and Brandon was excited. Today he and Thalia were going to spend some time together at the carnival and he looked forward to it over the past few days. He liked spending time with her and figured that they would definitely have lots of fun at the carnival, whatever they decided to do. Thalia was chill, so it wouldn't be running around like crazy, but that was a good thing. They'd be able to look around and find fun things to do together. 

However, Brandon couldn't sleep when Saturday morning came. He ended up getting up super early. He got ready before leaving the Durmstrang ship and stopped off in the Hogwarts Great Hall for a small breakfast before starting to head down to the carnival. When he got to the Hogwarts gates, they were still hitching up the carriages that would carry people to the village. Hmm ... well, he decided to just walk down then. After all, he knew he was super early, so he might as well pass some time walking. 

When he arrived in Hogsmeade, Brandon moved to a bench and sat down, watching as the carriages started arriving with students that were obviously ecstatic at the change to go to the carnival. He smiled when he saw a familiar head of brown hair among the crowd and stood up, moving so he was just behind her. In fact, he was close enough that he heard her ask where he was. He leaned forward and whispered in her ear, "Right here, Thalia." Expecting her to turn around quickly, he held his arms out as if presenting himself to her and grinned. He loved surprising people.

Thalia was still looking around when she felt someone whisper in her ear. She gasped at the sound of the voice, and her instincts kicked in. Just as she was about to reach for her wand, she heard her name and that relaxed her. But for a moment, she was totally caught off-guard. She turned around, as she was pretty sure who it was who decided to sneak up on her. She knew the voice well enough and wondered why she hadn't expected something like this given the person's high inclination to surprise. Turning around she found Brandon, the very person she was waiting for, grinning at her. All the earlier thoughts vanished from her mind, and she too found herself smiling up at him. "You did give me quite a shock" she said shaking her head at him though there was no real annoyance, she was merely surprised.

Thalia gave Brandon a once over casually as she spoke to him "well now that I completed the hardest task on hand, which was finding you, in this ridiculously large crowd, shall we get going?" she said smiling up at him. Who said that she couldn't tease him. It was not as though they were strangers to each other. She can never be the type of girl who is going to be all shy and reserved. Nope, Brandon was her friend and she has always been pretty open with him. "C'mon we have a lot to see" she said to him as she looped her arm through his nudging him towards the flow of people. She saw that a few were staring at them which annoyed her a little, and so she fixed them with the best and nasty glare. She never liked the nosy types who make it their business to tumble into others lives. Looking at Brandon she spoke "so where are we going to start first?"And then she spotted a popcorn selling cart and pointing to it she asked "wanna have some popcorn while we walk around?" She then looked around and wondered where to start. There was soo much to see and Thalia wondered if they can see the whole carnival that day. But she was not going to give up just because the place was huge. Turning to Brandon, she asked "so how has it been going for you these days?"

It worked! Brandon was delighted by how he'd taken Thalia by surprise. She gasped and spun around and seemed nervous, but not at the same time. She was smiling widely at him, telling him that he surprised her. Brandon couldn't help but chuckle at that comment. "That was the point," he told her, shaking his head a little. Honestly, he was enjoying teasing her. It was a few days since the time they last saw one another and he was excited to spend the day with such a close friend. Teasing her was just part of the package.

He lifted an eyebrow at her when she said finding him was the hardest part, "But you didn't find me," he argued, an innocent expression on his face, "I found you." He shrugged when she asked if they should get going. "Might as well if we want to give ourselves time enough to do a bit of everything," Brandon smiled back at her. He followed easily when she looped her arm through his. There were a bunch of people headed to the carnival, but he really didn't expect anything else. As they drew closer, Brandon glanced above the crowd at the booths and rides, trying to think of something they could do first. When Thalia asked him that very question, he was about to tell her that he had no idea, but she started pointing at something first. Popcorn! He grinned at the sight and pulled her over to it, requesting a bag and paying for it before saying anything to her. He grabbed a handful and popped it into his mouth. "I can't ever say no to popcorn," he told Thalia with a wink. Then he looked around, trying to decide what they should do. He was pulled out of his contemplation at her next question. Brandon shrugged, "Oh, the same things as usual. Classes on the ship, rush through my homework, and spend most of my time with my music or friends. You?" Her life was probably a lot more interesting than his.

At his comment, Thalia gave a small laugh and said "of course I know it, it was just well.. all soo sudden and I ... ughh never mind" she said shaking her head. She was good at somethings but trying to make her point when there wasn't one in the first place, nope. She probably would not make any sense had she spoken those out loud. Besides, it was all in hr head and what was the point in wondering if it makes sense to people or not. Looking at the grin on his face, she knew that he was enjoying it a lot. And she was not the one to feel any bad or gloomy about being teased. Because she herself did the same and found that in between friends, it was a good form of entertainment.

As he rectified her earlier comment, she winked at him and said "you got me" and with a grin she continued "well it doesn't matter, because now we are together." Nodding at his words, she started walking and he too joined her. And it would seem that her earlier question went unanswered by her pointing the popcorn vendor. And she was got herself pulled towards it, and with a laugh she followed him. As he purchased one and began to eat it, she shook her head with amusement. He was soo sweet at that moment, and Thalia too was smiling. At his words, she gave a knowing look and said "I got that point, crystal clear"and she too grabbed some popcorn as she looked around smiling. Whoa, she was smiling and grinning a lot today, it's a miracle her cheeks are not paining from all the stretching she has been giving it. The carnival was soo full of energy and in this place she felt relaxed and happy. Besides she didn't have any reason to be grumpy and moody at that moment nor did she have to be her reserved self. And as she looked around, she could find a few stalls with games which caught her attention. Looking at them, she spoke "are you interested to try some games they have over there?"

As he answered her back, she nodded and said "mine is just as similar as your's except for the classes on ship.. I have them in the castle"she said with a playful grin. And then she added "and guess who signed up for the quidditch scrimmage?" with a mischievous grin. It was a total Un-Thalia like move, but she was getting super bored and she decided that since this was her last year, she decided to leave the school with a bang. And since she never played for her house team, she decided that this game would be a perfect opportunity for her to play. She wanted to let everyone see that she is not a loser when it comes to quidditch, just because she chose not to play, over the years they have been many rumors at hogwarts that she was a slouch at it. Bah, now they will know who Thalia Wood is and just how well she can play the game.

Brandon couldn't help but grin at Thalia's obvious confusion. He was teasing and he loved to fluster people. Normally it didn't work out as well as this, but he could enjoy it while it did, right? He gave a small laugh when she gave up on trying to explain herself. Success! He didn't say anything else, not wanting to make her feel more uncomfortable than she already did.

"It matters to me," Brandon whined for a moment, trying to tease her even more. Really, he was just trying to make sure that his friend was enjoying herself. In situations like this, when he was going to an activity with a friend, all Brandon really wanted was to make sure they had fun and that they enjoyed themselves. He heard her laugh when he showed his enthusiasm for the popcorn, but Brandon didn't say anything about it. He was too excited about the popcorn, of course! He made a face at her when she said she understood that he loved popcorn and then popped a big handful into his mouth. He offered the bag to her right as she took some and then laughed. "I guess it's a good thing we're on the same wavelength, Thalia, or I might get offended at you trying to take my popcorn," he teased. She asked if he was interested in anything specific and Brandon shrugged. "I chose popcorn first. You get to pick what we do next." He winked at her before adding, "I'm really good with anything, as long as we're having fun." He didn't want to do something that made either of them super competitive but if they were enjoying themselves, then Brandon was happy.

Classes were classes. It didn't matter if they were done on a ship or in a castle. Brandon nodded when Thalia said her classes were the same as his. And then she mentioned a quidditch scrimmage. "I'm guessing you!" Brandon said with a wide smile. "But ... I didn't know they were doing anything quidditch this year. I thought it was all on pause because of the tournament." Not that it made much of a difference to Brandon. He liked watching Quidditch but he was terrible at the game. Actually, he was terrible at staying on his broom. He'd never gotten around to trying to hit, catch, throw, or block with any of the balls. "When is it?" he asked curiously.

Thalia was glad that he didn't press on the matter further more, it was plain annoying that she couldn't come up with some reply to him in the first place and she definitely did not know what she would end up blabbing if he continued on. But it was plain funny that she, Thalia Wood could not come with a reply of her own and she too laughed a little finding it all funny. As Brandon whined, Thalia gave a sweet smile and said "of course it does, well then how about this,"and paused a good few seconds to give a thought and spoke again "you were my Knight in shining armor who found me in this chaos"and giggled. But it was true though, and as she said it her eyes looked into his with a sincere smile. He was often the person who would help her out and make her feel better. And his presence was just soothing and brings her peace. Every single time. Though she often was left wondering if she was the only one who thought so. But then again, he was soo sweet that every girl would fall heads over heels for him. And she knew for a fact that quite a lot of the girls are crushing on him at the moment. And she is left to wonder if there was anyone on his mind.

Brandon mentioned them being on the same wavelength lead Thalia to smile as she spoke, "of course we are, else you and I would not be here enjoying our day."It was true though, they were quite similar when it came to a few things. As he mentioned about getting offended, she mock gasped and said "how could you, Brandon.... you of all people .. how could you think that I could keep my hands to myself when there is popcorn" as she winked back at him. As he asked her to chose, she gave an easy smile and said "fair enough"as she looked around. "How about we try the ferris wheel? It seems like fun".And then as an after thought she added, "you do not mind the heights do you?"

As the topic went to quidditch, Thalia nodded at his answer, her face filled with smile as she spoke "yes I am playing..." . As he mentioned the game ot being held because of quidditch, she once gain nodded and said "yes, no quidditch games because of the tournament. But you now how we lot are"with a grin, "cannot stay away from the game for long.. so someone, and I have a fairly good idea who, decided to hold a scrimmage game.."Looking at him she grinned and said "I thought of making an exception to the no-quidditch at school rule". As he asked when it was, she gave a shrug and said "some time in March I guess. You know he we are when it comes to quidditch games, one whistle and the stadium would be full in no time."It was true though, Hogwarts matches were something which hold the interest of everyone. While the players were not pro by any means, but some might really be given the way they play, the matches turn to be pretty awesome and she was looking forward for this one game.[break]

As Thalia smiled, Brandon's whine turned into a grin. This was going to be good. He was positive about it, and excited because Thalia was a lot of fun so she'd come up with something interesting. She giggled as she called him her knight in shining armor and Brandon looked to her for a moment and then nodded, "Yeah, that sounds about right," he teased. This was one of the things he loved about spending time with Thalia. She was a close friend and he trusted her. He knew she wouldn't judge him for his teasing and messing around and he appreciated it. Whereas with others he often had to watch what he said, Thalia was one with whom he could be himself completely.

He laughed when she agreed that they were on the same wavelength, also adding that that was the reason they were having a fun day. Good to know. Then he laughed when she teased him about thinking she could keep her hands to herself when it came to popcorn. "I guess you have a point there," he responded with a teasing smile.

She looked around, suggesting the ferries wheel and Brandon laughed. He was almost sure the carnival workers would know who he was now, since he spent so much of his time on the ferris wheel. "I love the ferris wheel!" Brandon said with a smile, taking Thalia's hand so he could tug her toward it. Once they got past a rush of people he let go, turning around to face her and walking backwards as he did so. "Are you scared of heights?" he asked with a wink.

Brandon smiled when she said she'd be playing in the game. "Then I will definitely be there to watch," he confirmed with a smile. He laughed when Thalia started talking about how even with the tournament on they couldn't stay from Quidditch long. "Need some entertainment between tasks?" he teased, "The tournament isn't good enough for you Hogwarts people?" Thalia knew that he loved Hogwarts more than Durmstrang, so she shouldn't get offended. He nodded and laughed about her other comments about the game to come. "I'll be there. Promise," he repeated.

At his teasing, Thalia too smiled and said "of course it is". She enjoyed his company yeah, and a part of her wished that she should've done this a long time ago. Then again a long time ago was a slight exaggeration on her part. But it sure felt like such for her. They definitely ought to do this more often she thought with a smile. She nodded at his words, and as if to prove she again took some popcorn and began to pop them into her mouth as she grinned at him.

At first she wasn't sure that her idea of ferris wheel would be good or not. And only upon seeing the grin on his face did she realize that it was a good choice. Besides, she wanted to get on it and see the view from above. "well then what are we waiting for?"she asked with a grin. As he tugged her hand, Thalia happily let herself be guided, as she walked fast keeping up with him. And as they made their way out of the crowded path, she felt him let go of her hand, only to turn towards her and talk with her. "Me? scared of heights?! That's funny"she said laughing at the question. Thalia was looking over his shoulder trying to make sure that he wouldn't bump into someone or something.

"You definitely cannot skip the match,"she said with a smile. As he teased her, she gave a smirk and said "well considering that the euphoria of the yule ball is long over, I think that a new distraction was due"and smiled playfully. As he continued in his teasing, she raised a brow at the 'Hogwarts students' part. BUt then again she knew it way before, that Brandon liked Hogwarts more than his current school. So she didn't much mind it, and said "nah, not good enough, after all we like to go crazy"and winked at him.

If was easy to be with Thalia. First of all she was a good friend, but more than that, Brandon just felt comfortable with her. She never judged him for any silly thing he said or did, she just accepted the way he was and Brandon appreciated that. He nodded at her as the conversation moved on, laughing when she plopped even more popcorn into her mouth. Well, it was definitely a good thing they were both comfortable with one another.

She was obviously excited about the ferris wheel add well and Brandon was glad. He wasn't quite sure if Thalia knew how much he loved them but he didn't want her to feel like she had to ride it just because he wanted to. Then again, it had been her suggestion. As he walked backward, he noticed Thalia looking over his shoulder- probably to make sure he didn't run into something- and Brandon laughed again. Today was a good day, great for laughing. "Well I just wanted to be sure," he teased lightly. "For all I know you're only comfortable with heights when you've got a broom under you." Brandon winked, not bothering to look behind himself. If he was about to run into something, he was sure Thalia would stop him.

"I won't," Brandon promised simply. He nodded at her comment about the yule ball. "Yeah. It's weird not having Quidditch matches to attend this year," he confessed with a shrug. She noticed that he was reading, as he expected and Brandon smiled. Then they were joining the queue for the ferris wheel and there were only two people in front of them. "You ready?" Brandon Alex with a smile.

Thalia just shook her head with laughter at his comment about heights. Trust him to make a joke like that as she said "I'll let you know that this not the first time I'll be on a ferris wheel, but let's just say that I like the broom better"and grinned at him. She had never had a fear of heights, her father made sure of that when she was a little kid. He continued to walk the same way and Thalia now just decided to let him be that way though she is definitely looking out for him considering that she was a little towards his side, so that he would not bump into someone. Just as she looked at him, she noticed that he was going to bump into someone and right in the last moment, she just pulled him towards her by his arms so that he would not bump into the elder man. She did not realize that her actions had brought him nearer to her a little more making Thalia very much conscious. She just found herself staring at his face with a small smile on her face.

At his promise she just gave a smile, she needn't have to ask him twice, she knew that he would come to watch the game. But would he come for her or for the match.... ugghh she was not going there again thought Thalia with a shake of her head. very weird.. speaking of matches, do you have them at Durmstrang?" she asked a little curiously. Even though she has been talking to him for this long, there were a lot of things she did not know about his new school. besides she never brings it up, because it reminds both that he was not here last year. And soon enough they reached the ferris wheel and only two people were there which wold mean that they can get in early. At his question she nodded her head and said "as ready as I can be"as she looped her hand through his with a smile. And then they were lead to sit and she was very much excited and her face very much made it clear to anyone who looks at her.

Brandon grinned when Thalia started to correct him, telling him that this was not her ferris wheel, but that she might not do as good at those as she did at broomsticks. Brandon laughed. "Well I'm the complete opposite," he admitted. "I'm really terrible with brooms. I might be the worst person you know when it comes to flying on them actually, but I do ferris wheels great." He was so focused on teasing Thalia that Brandon didn't notice the person behind him. Thalia pulled him forward and he found himself almost nose-to-nose with her. He smiled and pulled back a bit, so they were a normal distance apart. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. "Thanks Thalia, you saved me there," he told her with a sincere nod.

She seemed content with his promise and Brandon was glad, though there really wasn't much else he could have given her. He shrugged when she asked about Quidditch, then nodded. "Yeah, they do. They're almost as crazy about Quidditch there as you guys are here. You just have to try out for the teams there and each team tries to get the best players they can. There's no house loyalty or anything like that." Which was probably due to the fact that they didn't have houses at Durmstrang, but that was beyond the point.

Then she was right beside him and they were getting on the ferris wheel and Brandon laughed. He loved this ride. "This is the best part," he told her as the ride slowly started lifting them upward. He loved the view that came as he was coming from the bottom to the top. Everything seemed to shrink, yet grow at the same time and he found it fascinating. He turned to Thalia. "Is this as good as you thought it'd be?" he asked.

When he spoke about him being a terrible on brooms, she stuck her tongue out and said "not everyone can be good at everything you know"and smirked at him. Of course she knew a little about his attempts on broom, considering that they were in the same flying class. But then again one can change over time and it made her grin upon knowing that he is still the same even after these years. She looked up at him and said "and you are going to make sure that i do not freak out"which might actually happen. But then again she had never been on the ferris to know how she would react. Each time she has been on them, her emotions were quite stark.

Just as he pulled away from her, Thalia understood that it would've been a very awkward situation indeed if she had acted on her thoughts. She gave a nod in return and said "any day Brandon"she said with ease. She had always been the type to look out for her friends and he was one of those whom she considered as one of her closest friends. She nodded on as he spoke about the quidditch at Durmstrang, which was a bit different from that of how it was at school. But then again it would be downright boring if all the schools are similar with no differences in how they are run. "Well I guess, quidditch is the common thing for all no matter the school"she said with a grin at the thought.

Thalia was a bit nervous when the ride started. She had been on these, but she still was a bit worried and she did the only thing which would calm her and caught onto Brandon's arm. She could now understand how others would feel when they are on broom and not at all comfortable on them. This was foreign to her. When he asked her about it being good, she looked up at him and muttered "It better be". And slowly she looked away from him and towards the open and gasped at the beauty in front of her. It truly was amazing. Eyes shining with surprise and pleasant smile on her lips she looked at him and said "this is absolutely breathtaking"and she ten hugged him and said "thanks"somewhere into his shoulder.

He shrugged when she mentioned that not everyone could be good at everything. He knew that, but admitting how bad he was at flying wasn't an easy thing to do. At least not for him. It probably had something to do with the fact that everyone loved flying and Quidditch so much. If you could fly and play, you were guaranteed to make easy friends with most of the people in school, because they just loved talking about the sport. Brandon enjoyed talking about it, but there was no way in the world that he would ever be able to play it. He laughed when she said that he had to make sure she wouldn't freak out. "Don't worry Thalia. I've definitely got your back." He loved ferris wheels and had every intention of making sure she enjoyed her time on one as well. He merely smiled when she mentioned that she'd be happy to save him any time. There wasn't much more he could say to that.

He nodded at her comment about Quidditch. "It certainly is. I think it might be the common thing between all countries in the wizarding world," he added. He didn't realize how important it was in other places until switching schools. However, he'd noticed how big of fans his classmates were the first day he went to Durmstrang.

He could sense that Thalia was a little bit nervous about the ride, especially when she moved to grab his arm. He merely smiled, glad that he could help her and hoping that she would actually enjoy the ride instead of let it freak her out. He laughed when she mentioned that the ride had better be as good as she thought it'd be. He jiggled his arm a little, making hers move around a bit to tease her. "It will be," Brandon said confidently. Then he heard her gasp. He couldn't resist and looked over just in time to see the look of complete awe on his friend's face. Then she told him it was breathtaking and gave him a hug, thanking him. Brandon laughed, hugging her back. "Come on, Thalia. You're going to miss some of the view if you're hugging me the whole time," he teased. If she liked it this much, she should definitely watch it a little bit more.
