hello there, my name is Oona O'Toole but you can call me Oona. i'm 14 so that makes me a 4th year at Hogwarts, where I reside in Ravenclaw house. You could say I'm intelligent, knowledgeable, and witty, but I personally think that I am precocious, organized, and curious. People say I look a lot like Millie Bobby Brown, but I don't really see it...

appearance:
Oona stands at 5'3" tall and has a thin, almost boyish build. She has wavy dark brown hair that is cut at a pixie length and brown eyes. Her skin is fair with slight olive undertones. She has a small, upturned nose, and her top canine teeth protrude slightly in relation to the rest of her teeth.
When in her Hogwarts uniform, Oona makes a point of being immaculately dressed. She's learned a few simple laundry spells to keep her clothes clean and pressed, though she won't bother to tidy up her appearance if she thinks that it will be at the expense of learning something new in class.
If not in uniform, Oona still tries to dress well. She enjoys wearing dresses and collared blouses with skirts, although she favors neutral colors over pinks and purples.
The one thing that Oona won't be seen wearing is jewelry. Her ears aren't pierced, and—if not for her methodical organization—she wouldn't have the slightest idea of where to find a necklace or bracelet.

School, learning, spending her free time in the Hogwarts library, experimenting with magic, being organized, Potions, waking up early, the color white, the Hogwarts feasts, black pudding
dislikes:
Not being allowed in the Restricted Section, people who talk in class, Muggle Studies, when the whole class is forced to stay on a topic because one person doesn't understand the concept, The Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery, bubble gum, limits on her magic, the color pink, soda bread, being flat-chested

Oona's greatest goal at the moment is to learn everything about the magical world that she possibly can. It's certainly lofty, but she'll try.
amortentia:
Currants, yellowing paper, and dust
boggart:
Although she has witnessed plenty of tragedy at Hogwarts, Oona's greatest fear is being tangled inside a giant mess of bubble gum.
overall personality:
True to her House traits, Oona is highly intelligent. She keeps her belongings meticulously organized, excels at school, and is a voracious reader, preferring to spend her time in the school library whenever she can. That isn't to say that she is antisocial, however; she is mature for her age and very good at making conversation, particularly with adults.
Oona's conversational skills serve her well, considering that she is very curious, and she usually can be found asking for elaboration on whatever it is that she happens to be learning in class that day. She looks up to all of her professors and trusts their knowledge wholeheartedly, just as she trusts the knowledge of the students who are in the years above her.
When it comes to students in her own year and the years below her, however, Oona finds it difficult to make and maintain genuine friendships. While she can relate to her fellow Ravenclaws' intellect, her perception of her mutual interests with others stops there. She will strike up a conversation with someone if she thinks that she can learn from them—“learning”, in her view, meaning fact and never individual perspectives—but will become bored if she winds up hearing something she already knew.
Although she doesn't see it and would deny it immediately, Oona is still quite naïve, especially when it comes to Dark magic and why she cannot learn about it, given her position in society as a Muggle-born witch. In wanting to learn every type of magic that she possibly can, her intentions with the subject matter aren't malicious, but that shouldn't make her curiosity any less alarming to those more knowledgeable than she.

history:
Born in Dublin, Ireland, to a librarian and a science teacher, Oona's academic inclinations from a young age came as no surprise. As her parents' only child, she spent more of her time around her mother's vast collection of books than around children her own age. If she wasn't being read to or reading for herself (once she became slightly older), chances were good that Oona was conducting basic science experiments with her father and a few household supplies.
At school, though, was where Oona began to shine. It was apparent to her teachers that she was gifted for her age, especially considering that she was one of the youngest students in her year. She would finish her assignments with remarkable speed and accuracy, often asking for more material to complete. Her teachers—thrilled that she was such an avid learner—would happily oblige, and Oona took pride in knowing that she was more advanced than many of her peers.
Being so intelligent had its unfortunate side, however, and Oona couldn't escape from some others' ridicule. Her first instance of performing underage magic happened on such an occasion, at the age of six, when a girl a few years above her began to tease her for reading the dictionary after school. The older girl was chewing bubble gum at the time—quite loudly, at that—and Oona began to get more and more annoyed with her. When the older girl began to blow a bubble, the bubble grew bigger and bigger. The girl was lifted off of her feet by the bubble, which ultimately reached the size of a large balloon. Oona found this highly amusing, watching with glee, until the bubble popped.
Not only did the gum hit the girl who had been blowing the bubble in the first place, it got in Oona's hair, too, and she began to cry when she realized what had happened. Oona's mother, who couldn't remove the gum, was forced to cut her hair incredibly short—thus beginning the girl's pixie cut (and her hatred of bubble gum).
The rest of Oona's time in primary school was uneventful, by comparison. There were occasional incidents that seemed slightly strange, but Oona found that, oftentimes, she was the only one who remembered them: the maths homework that ended up stuck to the ceiling and the communion wafers that turned into cakes were among them. It wasn't until she was nearly eleven years old that all of those strange occurrences were explained.
Oona was a witch. Her parents were disbelieving, but they began to understand that they couldn't allow their daughter's magic to remain uncontrolled. Oona, on the other hand, saw her magic as a great opportunity. She would be going to a school for witches and wizards and would even get her own wand! It was all so exciting, and she couldn't wait to get to Hogwarts to see everything for herself.
Sorted into Ravenclaw House, Oona had no doubt that that was where she belonged. She enjoyed all of her classes, especially Potions, which she found to be not unlike science in the non-magical world. Truthfully, there wasn't much that Oona disliked about her new school. At Hogwarts, there was an entire world for her to explore; she even learned how to fly on a broomstick!
She wrote letters home to her parents constantly, telling them all about what the castle was like. Like at her old primary school, there were a few students who didn't seem to like her very much. It wasn't until her second year at school, however, that Oona first heard the term "Mudblood" hurled in her direction. She learned to ignore the taunts; besides, none of the students who called her names knew her, and she could usually escape to the library or to her dormitory if she needed to.
Back at home in Dublin the following summer, Oona hadn't had much contact with the magical world, so she was shocked to receive a letter from one of her classmates that said that the Minister for Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt, had been murdered. If that wasn't awful enough, Muggle-born students like herself were being targeted even more than before. Telling her parents about the murders, she thought, didn't seem like such a good idea, but that didn't stop her from going to the library to investigate them for herself.
With the rest of her schoolwork as a priority—and her lack of access to books on Dark magic—Oona wasn't able to get very far in her quest for information before Elaine Dupree revealed herself as the individual behind the murders. The kidnappings further interrupted Oona's plans to look into the Restricted Section, until she was caught trying to access the forbidden shelves in the middle of the night and given detention.
As far as Oona had told her parents, life at Hogwarts had been business as usual. Assured that the kinds of things that might be shocking to Muggles happened not infrequently when she had started at school, she imagined that her experience was just par for the course, so to speak. Oblivious to the dangers that actually faced their daughter, the O'Tooles were just glad to have their daughter back from school for the summer and unhurt in the explosion that had occurred at King's Cross.
As her fourth year at Hogwarts rolled around, Oona's excitement returned to the same level as it had in the summer before her very first year. The Triwizard Tournament—something that she had only read about in books—would be hosted at Hogwarts in the coming year. Although too young to enter herself into the tournament, Oona was looking forward to meeting students from the two visiting schools, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. From what she had heard, the Durmstrang students were instructed in the Dark Arts—not just how to defend themselves against such things.
Intrigued by the idea that she might finally get to learn more about the subject that had been kept from her, Oona has spent her time trying to ingratiate herself with the students from Durmstrang and their connections, hoping that she'll finally get to learn more about the Dark Arts before the year ends. (Her parents, still receiving their weekly letters, remain in the dark about how dangerous and unusual the circumstances at Hogwarts are becoming.)
