Cecelia had to hold back laughter when Savtaj said that his father had ruined their family name. She didn’t know what was going on with his father, and it wasn’t really her place to pry, but last time she checked, there was no one named Macmillan in Azkaban. “I have absolutely no idea what it’s like to have a family member ruin your family’s name.” She deadpanned. Cece knew it wasn’t really fair to compare everyone’s family to hers, and that Sav was still allowed to feel bad about the way his father had desecrated their family name with whatever he had decided to do, but she couldn’t help but feel like she was the exact wrong kind of person to be talking to about that. Her family name was ruined by a murderer, so it was hard to have sympathy for lesser crimes.
“You see, I’m sick of the Rousseau family name.” Cecelia explained. “All that it stands for, and all that my family stands for, is purity. And purity isn’t even purity, it’s just a way to excuse hatred and killing.” It was the killing that had snapped Cece out of her haze in the first place. She knew it spoke volumes about her character that it was only her sister’s death that had made her change her tune, but the Gryffindor was hoping that eventually, why she had changed wouldn’t matter so much as the fact that she had changed at all. “I’m more than happy to let it die.” And it would die having three daughters wasn’t exactly conducive to carrying on the family name, and her parents were too old to try to have another child, if they even wanted one after losing two of their daughters. One day, Cecelia hoped not to be a Rousseau anymore. She didn’t know if that would happen through marriage or just a name change, but in any case, Cecelia would be happy to be rid of that burden.

Sav began to feel a bit bad for even bringing it up, as much as he felt disgraced by his father he knew that other people still had worse situations. He had heard of course about Cece's family and he felt awful for bringing it up, as cocky as he was, he was a nice guy underneath it all, and it often shined through, at least when he wanted it to. "Yeah... sorry." he admitted through his teeth after a sigh. She went on to say that she despised her family name and wanted to be rid of it. He understood her request, maybe not to her extreme, but he did understand it. He never would get rid of the MacMillian name for similar reasons that his mother had for keeping the name, It was how the family was known, and disgraced or not they were still part of that family, if anything, it felt like they had kicked his father, the bringer of the name, out of the MacMillian family. Maybe one day, his mum would remarry, and that would be different. "You could change it now. You're of age, right?" he asked, he contemplated making light of the subject and suggesting humorous names for her to change to, but he didn't want her to think that he was in anyway making fun of her.

“It’s fine.” Cecelia said when Sav apologized, presumably for bringing up the whole ‘being disappointed by your family’ thing. She needed to start getting better about that, but it was hard, especially Desirae’s death wasn’t in the distant past yet and the anniversary of Braelynn’s “death” was also quickly approaching. Getting out of it was going to take a lot of time, and a lot of support. It was a good thing that Cecelia had large amounts of both, ever since she had finally started talking to the people in her house and year instead of just writing them off because of their blood status. Sav pointed out that Cecelia could change her name if she wanted, if she was of age. “I am of age, yes.” She said with a nod. “The main thing is, I’d rather not be disinherited. Nothing says ‘disinherit me!’ like changing your name.” Cece wished that she wasn’t so fixated on the money that being connected with her family would bring, but she had grown up in a lavish lifestyle, so ridding herself of it suddenly would be jarring, at best. And then there was Elaine to think about – denouncing the name would be denouncing Desirae, and Merlin knew her sister’s loyalty was the only thing that was somewhat shielding Cecelia from the Dark Lady. She still had appearances to keep up… not that she could tell Sav that.

Sav knew other people had it worse, but that didn't necessarily mean this his family drama didn't still weight on him, at least a little. A part of him wanted to be able to shrug it off, and he certainly tried, at least most of the time, to act like it never happened. But acting was only temporary and one couldn't change the past. It was true, he hadn't had anyone in his family die, and as far as he knew everyone was doing very well, at least health wise. He sometimes worried about his mothers emotional state, but he'd never burden her with the worries that he had. If she knew that he had been thinking about Madison, even at all while he still didn't know what was happening with Jessie she'd likely murder him. Granted, Sav was too nice to ever act on any feelings, at least he hoped he was. He liked to think of himself as a good, moral character. But then again, he had once thought of his father as a good, moral character as well. "You could always marry, get the new name and then divorce right away but keep the name," he suggested, absolutely just as a joke, just to try to have her smile, even a little. He knew his attempt might have been in vain, but she was a friend in need and he wanted to help.

Sav seemed desperate to find a solution to her name-changing problem, and Cecelia appreciated his effort, but his solutions were becoming more convoluted and less practical by the minute. “That sounds excessively complicated.” Cecelia said with a small chuckle. “I’m fine with waiting.” She didn’t expect to get married any time soon, but when she did, Cecelia wanted it to be the only time, and not just because she wanted to distance herself from her family’s name. Who knew, by then she might not even have to think about being disinherited. Cecelia didn’t wish death on her parents, of course – she had already had enough family die without adding to the list – but they were growing older, and it was possible that they would die before she got married. “You should be okay with waiting, too, Sav. It doesn’t matter if it takes you time to reverse what your father’s done. It’ll happen eventually.” That was the best comfort that Cecelia could offer. There were some things that were inerasable and inescapable, but most transgressions could be forgiven and forgotten given enough time. Cecelia didn’t want Sav to drive himself insane pursuing vengeance – or whatever he was pursuing – when all that he needed to do was wait.

Sav nodded listening to what his fellow Gryffindor beater was telling him. It was all fair and true. He appreciated it. While he was, of course, just joking with his suggestion, he never expected her to actually consider the idea. And he would never get rid of his name either. It was who he was and he understood the obligation to remain a part of the family group. "But it got you to laugh, so looks like my work here is done." he smirked and leaned forward, back to a sitting position before standing himself up. "I'm going to head to the common room and drop of my stuff before dinner. Enjoy pondering while watching the waves." he insisted with a smirk and a wink. He said that mostly as a jab at himself since that was what he had been doing, rather dramatically before she had sat down with him. He threw his bag over his shoulder and began making his way back through the grounds towards the castle.
