Eliza seemed to think that her twin wouldn’t mind talking to him so long as it was just something light, like Quidditch. To be honest, he hadn’t thought either of the girls wanted to talk to him. He had gone about the entirety of the time that he had known about them just assuming that they felt the same way that he did and had no interest in getting to know one another. But being with Eliza now proved that he had been wrong. Eliza at least wanted to get to know him. He wasn’t sure exactly how his twin felt about it, it had been awhile since they spoke about the subject, but they always let the other make their own decisions. She closed by saying he could save the heart to hearts for her and he nodded. “Maybe I’ll give it a shot then,” he decided. As for talking to Eliza more, he didn’t hate the thought. She seemed like a very sweet, down to Earth person and he appreciate that.
“You want to make sure that the world knows the truth.” he said, hoping that he was getting the right sort of information from what she was saying, which it seemed like he was if she wanted to write featured pieces. “That’s admirable.” he admitted. “The world needs more journalists like you.” he decided, not having ever, to his knowledge, read anything that she had written. He rarely picked up a copy of the student newspaper, but he always saw one sitting on the coffee table in the common room. Finally, they had combined all of the many ingredients into the bowl and it was time to, as she put it, shape them. “Okay, um… do we just use our hands… or?” he pulled down a baking sheet from the shelf above them and set it on the counter, hoping that she had the answers.

Sav conceeded that he would give talking to Dusti a try, and she smiled. It wasn't that she wanted to pressure him into anything, but she didn't think avoiding it was the answer either. And he was better family than her parents had been, and they needed good family. Besides, it would surely be better to do it on purpose than something messy like this.
But it was going well, for all that it had started awkwardly. "Exactly that," she agreed when he said she wanted the world to know the truth. She felt her cheeks flush as he said it was admirable, but she tilted her head in a way that probably would have accompanied a shrug if she was one to shrug. "The truth has power, and I think it deserves to be known," she said simply. "Rumours are just annoying." They could have power - certainly, Slytherins before her (including her mother) had used them that way - but as far as Eliza was concerned, they had no place in journalism, and any journalist who used them was a fraud.
As for the cookies... "I think so?" She poked the dough with a tentative finger, and decided it wasn't too sticky or gross. She reached in and pulled a blob out, until it looked about the size she expected a chocolate chip cookie to be. She rolled it on her palm until it was a slightly neater ball, and dropped it onto the tray Sav had pulled out. She considered it for a moment, and then pronounced, "I think that should work."

Sav was never one for rumors, he heard them of course, it was almost impossible not to in a school this size with something always happening. And some of them he would chuckle at as he played with the ideas in his head or with Hugo. Most of them were fairly impossible to believe, but, what some of the students here could come up with was hilarious. There were stories of students attacking other students, stories of romantic gossip, which involved him more often than not whether or not he had actually be involved. Rumors were annoying, she stated, which prompted a nod from the Gryffindor. “Yeah, Tell me about it.” he said sarcastically with a laugh.
Sav watched as his half-sister bravely reached into the bowl of dough, and apparently deemed it ready. She grabbed a scoop and rolled it into a ball between her hands, using some sort of technique that impressed him. She hadn’t done this before, had she? Was that rolling technique just easy to pick up? She determined that it look good and so he followed suit, reaching in and taking a little bit of dough and trying to roll it into a ball like she had done. He crushed it a few times in his hands before realizing that he had to do so lightly. “This look right?” he asked her, holding out his lumpy but vaguely circular dough clump.

Sav was (almost) as scathing about rumours as she was, and that was a good sign in Eliza's books. Inevitable or not, ridiculous as they may be, they were a thorn in the side of journalists and subjects of speculation alike.
Sav gave his best shot at mimicing her attempts at forming the cookie. She didn't think she'd done anything fancy, but his ball of cookie dough did not look half so nice and neat as hers. But cookies never came out looking like what she had produced so it probably didn't matter. "Close enough," she said with a laugh, and took another pinch of the dough, repeating the action smoothly. It was a little smaller this time, but as she'd said before - close enough. As she reached in to make her third, she asked, "Shall we do all the dough,do you think?"

Sav couldn’t help experience both a little bit of relief and a chuckle when Eliza agreed that his attempt was close enough. He was glad to hear that it was anything other than awful. And as much fun as he was having, and even though making cookies was a lot easier than he expected, he wasn’t sure he’d ever do it again. So he wasn’t in any hurry to perfect his technique in dough-ball rolling. She asked how much dough he thought they should do and he shrugged. “Well that depends on how many cookies you think we should make. I mean personally, I can probably eat this whole bowl’s worth.” he admitted, and he meant it. He honestly thought he could. But Sav MacMillian was always hungry. It was a result of being as active as he was. He rarely watched what he ate and he didn’t really make an attempt to eat healthy, instead, he just stayed on top of his exercise, he ran a few miles everyday and always started and ended the day with sit ups and push ups in his dorm, which did sometimes annoy his roommates. “And if we made all the dough should we waste it?” he asked, taking another pinch and rolling another lumpy ball.

Sav’s logic for why they should make all the cookies was sound. Rather teenage boy, but that was probably to be expected. Still, she wanted to eat something that she'd made, so with a smile she protested. “Well, I think I’d rather like to eat a couple myself, but we can make them all.”
And then they lapsed into a silence that wasn't as awkward as Eliza had expected as they made the rest of the dough into cookies - some misshapen and some less so - and with the help of the house elf, slid them into the oven.

The two chatted casually while they waited for the cookies to bake. It wasn’t nearly as awkward as Sav had expected it to be, and even in the silence, where there was a fair amount of, it didn’t feel weird and he, at least, didn’t feel any need to fill the silence. The cookies came out of the oven a surprisingly short amount of time later and to further his surprise, they didn’t taste too bad. Not bad at all, in fact. Cooking definitely wasn’t something he wanted to do ever again, but it was, again surprisingly, fun. “So maybe we can just split these up?” he asked once they took the finished cookies out of the oven. The house elves supplied them with a container each and Sav began carefully filling the two boxes with warm cookies, trying not to let them break as he moved them from the cookie sheet. Once the cookies were boxed up and the house elves began clearing the mess that was made, Sav turned to his half-sister, and he couldn’t help but still feel weird thinking about this Slytherin girl as his half sister. “Well uh, I certainly hope we never have to go on a date again. But I can’t saw that this was entirely awful...So, if you want to talk or want us to get to know each other in a more casual way, I’m sure we could arrange something.” he decided, feeling very proud of himself for opening up. He was still pissed at his dad, but his feelings towards Ernie didn’t mean he had to hate the two Slytherin girls. “See you around.” he concluded and left the kitchens, box of cookies in hand.
