Riley walked out of the castle after potions class and began to walk through the lawns. He loved potions class, but he hated being down in the dungeons. He needed light, his eyes always felt so tired and heavy when there wasn't natural light around. The light from the torches on the wall, while pretty, wasn't the same as the light the sun cast throughout the rest of the castle. He felt grateful that he wasn't a Slytherin or a Hufflepuff who lived underground with little to no natural light, he was sure he would go crazy.
He walked over to his favorite tree on the Hogwarts lawns. He sat down under the tree with his back against the thick trunk and looked around. From his spot he could see most of the other landmarks of the grounds. The lake was visible straight ahead, the forest to his right, the Quidditch pitch stood off to the left a ways, it was a great spot for people watching, the Ravenclaw's favorite hobby. He watched as a girl in Beauxbatons robes made her way across the lawns towards her carriage. She walked quickly and kept her head down, what's she running from? Riley thought to himself, his well trained senses and years of researching helping him to pick out all the clues the young woman was giving off. Another student walked by in Gryffindor robes and was heading towards the Quidditch pitch with a certain spring in their step, however, they kept getting their robe, which was a few inches too long, caught under their feet and tugging it back up, Riley was sure the kid would trip, even with their efforts to hold their robe up and sure enough, just as the kid was feeling confident again after having gone a ways without getting the robe caught, they stepped on the edge and found themselves tumbling to the ground. Riley craned his neck to see if the kid needed help. The student got up, dusted them self off and continued on their way after checking to see if anyone saw them trip. He gave a chuckle and then looked around for another.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] Right now, I wish you were here with me [attr="class","itokaytext"] Madison was bored a little that day. She was done with her classes for that day and she had returned back to her dorm room. And now as she looked out of the window and saw that it was an ideal climate for her to go outside she decided to take a walk in the grounds. Tossing her potions books which she was reading, she took out her robe and left the gryffindor common room. She had a bounce in ehr step as she walked along the familiar corridors. Just as she reached the entrance hall, she decided to get herself some cookies to eat while she roams around. She then went further down the stairs and reached the kitchens. Tickling the pear, Madison found herself surrunded by the elves who were more than willing to help her out. It took them only a few minutes for them to get her a box of cookies. She thanked them all and then made her way to the grounds and by the time she reached there, quite some time passed. After all her aim was to indulge herself in something so as to not get bored and she was succeeding in it.
Madison reached the lawns and found that it looked more beautiful than ever. The sun shone through bright and warm and the trees looked beautiful with the light creating a scattering because of the leaves. She looked around and found that only a few were there, scattered on the vast grounds. However her eye caught someone she knew, Riley. Grinning she made her way towards the tree where he was currently seated, it would be great to spend time with some one she knew after all. Just when she was near him, she called out "hello Riley, mind if I join you?"As far as she knew, he was not the type to not talk to people and she was more than happy to talk to someone. I mean, where would be the fun to be all alone and left to one's thoughts? She then asked him "how're you doing?"

Riley was pleased when he heard the familiar voice approach him. He turned his head towards the voice and smiled as Madison walked up to him. She was carrying a small box in her hands. They had just had potions lessons together, however, it appeared that she had first gone to her dorm and dropped off her stuff, while Riley had just brought his bag with him, feeling a little to lazy to go all the way up to the Ravenclaw commons and he didn't yet know if he wanted to just go to the library rather than the common room to study after dinner. Students normally didn't bring their bags to dinner, but he was feeling particularly lazy and he could always just set his bag under his seat and no one would notice.
"Hey Madi." Riley greeted the Gryffindor girl. He sat up a little straighter. "Feel free to join me if you want." he invited his friend to sit if she wanted, he would understand however, if she was just stopping to say hi while passing by and had somewhere else to be. "What have you got there?" he asked, giving a nod to the box.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks [attr="class","itokaytext"] As Riley greeted her back, she took the time to look at him and found that he still had his bag with him. And that was when she realised that it was oly a good few minutes that they were in the potions class. Hmm, time passed by soo quickly and she had got done soo much in that short span of time. Impressive Madison, she appluaded herself inwardly. Besides, all those running up and down the stairs would do her health some good. And considering that she aways liked to be fit, and the stairs at Hogwarts kept her from becoming a lazy person. And with a new bounce in her step, she made her way towards him. And when he greeted her back she smiled and then promptly settled down beside him, leaning against the tree. SHe found that one could practically see the whole place from where she sat and that caused her eyes widen in surprise. Looking at him she then spoke up "now I understand why you come up here often, it's a good view from here".
As he asked her about the cookies in her hand, she grinned and said "oat meal cookies with raisins, freshly baked all thanks to the lovely house-elves".Taking one for herself, she passed the box to him and said "help yourself, and sorry if it has a little sugar in it."After the carnival, Madi felt the need to reduce the sgar content."After all that carnival food I ate...she said with a sheepish smile. She has eaten a lot of candy and all those sugar was not good for her at all. "And you know how health conscious I am"she added the last part with a shrug as she bite down into her cookie and liking it's taste. the raisins were a good addition after all.

She sat down and made herself comfortable and it displayed something that Riley really liked about her, she was very open, with what she said and how she acted, it was all consistent almost all the time, she was easy to read, she wasn't a puzzle, she wasn't playing games, she was herself and herself was a beautiful person. Of course, everyone had secrets and his previous statement wasn't to say that Madi was easy to read, she just wasn't fake. She was very genuine and honest and Riley really appreciated that, he didn't have to work hard to understand her, it was natural. "Oatmeal raisin cookies, yeah, very healthy." he nodded with a laugh taking the box that she passed him. "You could have had some chocolate put in there... a little chocolate is good." he teased, but he took a cookie anyway, he wasn't a very picky eater, he was just enjoying teasing his friend a little. Madi was one of the few people that he wasn't super proper and serious with. He was raised to be proper and always be seen as a high-society man in the shadow of his high-society family. But at school with people he considered his friends, who would know? "The carnival was quite fun," he nodded. "Did you go with anyone or just on your own?" he asked, taking a bite of his cookie.

As she sat down a part of Madi wondered how comfortable she usually was with certain people. While that didn't mean that she was standoffish or anything towards the rest. She was just a tad bit more free and open when in their presence, the others were still new to her and she usually does not want to overwhelm them with her attitude. As he took her cookie and laughed at her choice about it being healthy she nodded and said "yup veeerrry" as she dragged the last word with a smile. As he suggested putting some chocolate in it, she pouted a little and said "bit that would make them sugary and I'm trying to avoid sugar for some time" thigh she did think of doing just that the next time as she looked at the cookies with a sly smile. As he spoke of the carnival she nodded and said "it was super fun. I quite liked everything there" she said with a smile. As he proceeded to ask if she went with anyone she shook her head a little less enthusiastic than before and said "of you mean by guys, no I didn't. Bit then again I didn't go with the girls either. I was alone most of the time and sometimes I used to run into few familiar people" she said with a shrug. As much as she hated to admit it, she definitely needs to have done company the coming days it she would end up becoming a loner. Which was totally not acceptable. And looking at him she asked with a curious smile, "what about you?"@riley

She explained that she was trying to ear sugar free and he gave her an impressed nod. He had never watched what he ate, but he had a fairly fast metabolism and didn't really worry about it, he understood that those with had any sort of athletic potential or ambition felt differently regardless of how their body processed food, and he was happy for his friend for sticking to her decision. "Chocolate makes everything better." he shrugged with a teasing smirk in a you-don't-know-what-you're-missing way. When she spoke he had to wonder if she was making fun of him using the same word, quite, that he had just used to describe the carnival, he knew, even if she was, she was doing so in a playful way. He listened as she said she hadn't gone with anyone, when she turned the question on him, he answered honestly. "No." he shook his head. "I mostly went just to soak up the atmosphere." he admitted. He had gone to watch how people interacted and behaved in a different and unusual setting. The carnival was the perfect place to do so and he had experienced many interesting phenomena. A lot of students took the opportunity to have dates, he had observed, perhaps even more than he normally would observe at Hogsmead or around the grounds. "Are you just out here for the sun?" he asked.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] I guess that love wasn't enough I'm going through it every time that I'm alone [attr="class","itokaytext"] At his deliberate teasing, Madi rolled her eyes and said "that might actually work with others, but not on me" And when she did say it out loud, she did not mean that she would stay away from the chocolate despite the teasing, but on the contrary she would give in. "It is not as though I gave it up, i do give in and eat at times"she mused out loud with a shrug. She had self-control yes, but that did not extend to being excessively controlled and not indulging in what she likes. While she would not take every chance to eat such foods, she would make sure that she would have it in limited amount. After all, you only live once.
As he mentioned that he too went alone, she gave a nod and then added "all we loners should've gone together as a group, might have been much more fun". While a lot of her friends have gone with dates, she herself could not get the chance to go with someone. And while she did enjoy the time despite her being alone, at that time, now that she thought back to the carnival, she did wonder what it was like to have someone to with. Perhaps she was getting too lonely ?! oh no way as hell she was going there. it was something she rather deal with a fresh mind and when not in some one else's company. And speaking of said company, he asked a question to her to which she nodded and said "yeah, the climate was too good to pass up a chance to come out and relax".

"To each their own." Riley nodded when she explained that she gave up chocolate but still ate it every once in a while. Riley was secretly a little judgmental in his personal notebook, but out loud, and when it came to people he actually admired, he would never do anything intentionally to hurt them. Especially when it was something as trivial as eating habits, something that didn't effect anyone but the person making the decision. Back on the subject of the carnival, she said that the loners should have gone together, "Ahh, but then are they really loners? I think that sparks some philosophical debate about what makes a loner a loner and if a group of loners can really be a group of loners." he mostly was just talking for the sake of the joke, even though the joke itself was mostly just a physiological question rather than an actual joke. She admitted that she had come out because of the weather and he nodded since that was mostly the reason he was out as well. "So you were at that party, right? I think I saw you with that Gryffindor boy." he admitted. At the time he had felt curious about the two since they were dancing together, but he had been taken up in conversation very quickly by a 5th year girl and got distracted in his drink.

Madison just decided not to comment and let it pass. Everyone had their own opinion and she would not imply her own thoughts or ideas upon another and that also means that she would not listen to others and would only stick to her own thoughts. At his comment about loners she gave a shrug and said "it does depend on the group you see. If they were loners because of lack of company then they would fit right in, but if they are loner personality wise then I guess nothing could be said about it" as she added her opinion about it, or rather her own observation. But the again she was not much a philosophical person to be frank and all she had were opinions and quite a lot too. As Riley asked about the party, she nodded and said "yes of course I was there, you know me, I cannot dream to miss a single party" and not when it was hosted by her own dorm mate. After all it was widely known that the gryffindor parties are rather wild and not to mention the spiked drink she had that night. When he asked about the guy she was with, she spoke up "yeah I was with Daniel that night" as she and a find smile thinking about all the teasing and fun she had with her fellow housemate. @riley

Riley was interested to hear Madi’s opinion on the little philosophical question he brought up. It interested him, seeing what others thought on a topic and what they had to say. He loved the way that humans thought. He loved getting to figure them out and learn new things about people and ways of thinking that his textbooks couldn’t tell him. He had ready many university level textbooks geared towards muggles in university about nonverbal communication and psychology, and more than one the young man had come across the idea of asking philosophical questions as an easy way to figure out people's minds. Madi expressed good and interesting points on the subject, which he nodded along to without further comment, he wasn’t a loner so it didn’t really matter, but it was interesting to think about.
She then admitted to being at the party and with the Gryffindor, whom she had told him was named Daniel. Riley had never met this particular Gryffindor, he knew he was a transfer student from Ilvermorny in America but he hadn’t yet got a chance to talk to the man, but Madi seemed to like the new student enough, which gave Riley a good impression already. “How’s he? I don’t know him. But it seemed that y’all were having fun. Did you have any of the punch? I wonder who spiked it.” he admitted. He had actually liked the punch and had 2 cups himself, even while knowing that it was spiked.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] No one could ever know me No one could ever see me [attr="class","itokaytext"] When Riley just listened on at her comment and did not reply back, she just left the topic be. Besides she was not sure what she would reply back, if the discussion went any further. Thoughts were something she had, but opinions on the other hand just did not sit well with her. And on top of that, the topic on hand was a philosophical discussion about personalities which was an almost foreign topic for her. Considering that she was in no way a loner.
When he proceeded to ask about Daniel, Madi wondered what her face had given away this time. She knew that Riley was one of those people who could guess correctly of about a person just by their expressions. And Madi was now left to wonder. She then spoke up, there was nothing to hide after all, and she did decide to keep the talk neutral,"he is a good guy, a bit moody if you ask me. But that is to be expected from some one ho is tossed into a new place all of a sudden" . She then continued on when asked about the punch, "I did notice that the punch was spiked by my second glass, but that did not stop me. Had quite some drink to be honest"she replied thinking back to that night. She intentionally drank that spiked punch in that party. She did not know why, but that night all she wanted to do was enjoy. And she added "well whoever did it, did a very good job. I appreciate it"she said with a smirk. She was sure that it would someone from her own house, for they were the type to do such things, break the rules and go wild. But who exactly did it, she did not know.

Madison described Daniel to him as a good guy, but a but moody. She then said it was to be expected from anyone who was displaced without their consideration. Riley didn't know anything about the new Gryffindor boy. He hadn't known why he was here or why he was a transfer student. He was sure it would be interesting to talk to him and see how he really acted. Riley knew there were physiological reasons that a person would be moody after a big life transition and it would be interesting to study in person, however, he had no interest in getting to know the boy just so he could study him, he wasn't a monster.
She noticed the punch was spiked by her second glass. "Yeah, I only had two glasses myself, but it wasn't as bad as some people were saying it was, I didn't think so at least. I liked the taste." the Ravenclaw shrugged. He didn't feel very effected by the alcohol, but he knew that some people had gotten a little tipsy, something he wished that he had payed more attention to and studied a bit more. Alcohol had an interesting and individual effect on people and often reflected their true selves. "Yeah, I have no idea who did it, but good on them." Riley agreed. "Very brave, at least. I'm sure they could have got in trouble if they were caught." He said. "So do you have big plans for this summer?" he asked her.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] No one could ever know me No one could ever see me [attr="class","itokaytext"]
"May be you could talk to him sometime" said Madison in a casual voice. As much as she hates butting her head into others lives, something told her that this time would be an exception to that self-made rule of hers. While she was a good company, she knew that Daniel might appreciate someone like Riley. Besides it was not as though she was setting them up on a a date or anything. The thought however brought a smirk on her face. She was never much of a matchmaker to be honest. And truth be told she knew that she cannot succeed in that considering her own life does not have even an ounce of romance in it. Deciding on not going to continue her line of thoughts she shook her head a little and looked at her clasped hands in her lap, before turning to look at Riley.
When Riley mentioned that he never had it, Madi had on a grin and quickly covered it up with a cough. It was no surprise that she enjoyed the parties and most of all she liked the spiked punches, which somehow we not supposed to be spiked. But she had been on enough after quidditch parties which made it common for her. She nodded along as he spoke and added her own words in the end, "yeah it has a good taste. People usually don't like their punch spiked is all" as she grinned. She knew that a few were indeed uncomfortable that night and wondered how they managed. But she knew that a few like her were note than happy to have a drink. It just made the party more wild, is that is the word for it. "I'm not sure, but I have a hunch that it is someone from my house," she said as she thought back to her house mates who were at the party that night. But no matter how much she thought she knew that it would be a waste of time considering the amount of the students that were present and none can be put out of the list. Besides she was not exec sure what she would do upon finding who it was. It was not as though she would complain about it, considering that she enjoyed the drink. As Riley asked about Summer, she shook her head and said "actually, no I haven't got any plans as of now. But I'm sure I'll pick up something to do. What about you?"she asked back.

"Yeah uh, maybe so." Riley nodded when the girl sitting to his side brought up that maybe he should talk to the American boy, Daniel. Riley was a bit awkward, and getting to know new people, especially if they knew his reputation, was hard for him to do. Or at least, it seemed hard. Most people, when they heard that Riley was hyper-observant, assumed that he used his skills all of the time to read people and find out their deepest, darkest secrets. Which, was sometimes true. He was always using his skills, he couldn't really turn them off, once he learned how to notice something it was something that he always paid attention to. The way that people stood, or the nervous ticks that did while talking in front of people. The awkward swaying back and forth on their feet when trying to get out of a situation politely.
"I noticed that not everyone appreciate it quite as much." He agreed. He liked the taste of alcohol, but Max, the girl he had been talking to who was in the same house as his sister, didn't like it at all and was just trying to appease the social scene by sipping it. He was sure there were others who had spat out their drinks or abandoned their cups, never to pick them up again once they realized that the taste wasn't exactly how they expected. He wondered how many of those students had alcohol for the first time that night. Madison insisted that she suspected that it was someone from her house who had spiked the bowl, to which Riley nodded. "It would make sense. Gryffindors tend to be brave enough to do something like that, but I haven't heard of anyone getting caught or in trouble for it so, good on them." Riley said, if he had been holding a glass, he would have raised it to the individual who risked detention for the good of the party. She didn't seem to know what she was going to do this summer, and when she turned the question around on him, he shrugged too. "Not sure. Probably read, I'm sure my family have some trip planned to take in culture in some wealthy city or another." he rolled his eyes. Last summer it was Paris, who knew where it would be this summer.
