Ichabod felt like an actual idiot. How he thought signing up for a blind date was a good idea... well, he was definitely kicking himself now. Once he had signed up, he had thought that there was no possible way they'd actually pair him with someone. He thought maybe whoever was in charge of this would see his name and think it's a joke, but he should have known better. When he got the owl that said he had been paired and named the meeting place, he found himself actually dreading the actual date. He was terrified to see who he had been paired with. What if it was some over-the-top Hufflepuff? Or worse, a Slytherin he would have to face in the common room? Regardless, Iggy was beyond nervous and he was ready to get it over with as he stood out overlooking the grounds just outside the courtyard of the castle. This was their meeting spot and they were to go on a hike around the grounds. Iggy wondered then how his potential date would react if they saw him light up a cigarette... but he figured it best to not. But he promised if they didn't show, he would reward his nervous waiting with a cigarette.

Irina couldn’t believe that Lily had signed her up for this Blind Date roulette thing that had been plastered all over the bulletin boards last week. She knew she had to get back out there eventually and find at least something after Dan had left, but she had put it off for months, not entirely sure if she was ready for it. So of course, when the poster went up, Lily signed up; the other Gryffindor was suffering from a broken heart as well after all. Those German cousins; they obviously had more in common than they’d ever admit. She had allowed her name to be entered, mostly because she knew Lily would likely do it regardless of what she said, and a tiny part of her was curious who and where she’d get to go on a date with. Though Irina had no idea yet who she was meeting, she felt the nerves build up quickly in her stomach. She knew they were going hiking around the grounds, so she had pulled her hair up in a high ponytail, and donned black leggings and a scarlet jumper. She thought she looked nice; good for hiking and not trying too hard. At least, that’s how she hoped she’d come across. She walked outside and towards the meeting place she had been told to go to, and to her surprise there was someone already there. He looked familiar, but she couldn’t remember his name. “Hi,” she called out, walking over to him. “So...are you hiking in the woods too?” she asked, rather lamely. She assumed that was why he was there of course, but it was also possible another date was supposed to meet around the area here too. @iggy

Iggy figured he was probably a bit early. That or time was passing particularly slowly. Perhaps it was because he found himself so oddly nervous. There weren't many people Ichabod associated himself with around Hogwarts. He stuck to his same small handful of mates and pretty much left it at that. He didn't care to seek out other company and evidently others felt the same about him. Not that he minded so much, though. Iggy was left wondering if this person would be someone he knew or not. He had never truly bothered to know a lot of peoples' names. Sure he was good with faces, but it didn't get much deeper than that.
The Slytherin tucked his right hand in his robe pockets and realized he had actually left his cigarettes in his dorm. He almost let out a frustrated sigh but thought that perhaps that would be a good thing, so he wouldn't be so tempted to nervously chain smoke on his date. He began to spin his wand around in his fingers as he waited, until finally he heard a voice and he turned to face a dark haired girl in a scarlet jumper.
Almost immediately Iggy recognized her as a Gryffindor, but like always, couldn't put a name to the face. He just knew he had seen her around. Maybe with some foreign student? "Uh, yeah," he replied with equal lameless as he continued to fidget with his wand. "I, uh, I signed up for this 'blind date' thing... and, well, I'm supposed to meet whoever for... a hike?" The end of his words lifted in a sort of question. Was this the girl he was supposed to be on a date with? If it was, he certainly wasn't going to complain.

Irina felt slightly relieved that she didn’t really know the boy standing in front of her; it would be easier to go on this hiking….date thing without any preconceived notions about the other. From her first impression, he didn’t really know her either, so this would be a good chance to get to know him. Plus he was rather attractive, and for once Irina didn’t feel like thinking that was a betrayal to Dan. He had broken up with her after all, and had been radio silent since going back to Durmstrang. Perhaps moving on with a blind date really was the best thing she could do for herself.
“Me too, I’m Irina,” she introduced, extending her hand as her face relaxed into a small smile. She glanced out towards the trails; if she had her way they would be swerving far away from the willow tree. Thankfully, there wasn’t a preset trail involved with this date. “Have you ever hiked around the grounds before?” she asked him. Maybe he had discovered a hidden waterfall she hadn’t yet, or something along those lines, though she rather doubted it. She’d been hiking and climbing the trees since her first year so she was pretty confident in her scouting skills of the grounds.

When the dark haired girl said that she, too, was supposed to meet someone for a date Iggy bit his bottom lip for a moment. This had be his date. And honestly, Iggy realized he couldn't complain. She was cute, and he didn't know too much about her which told Iggy she wasn't like a lot of those who ran around the school flaunting about with their lineage or wizarding skills or what not. Perhaps this blind date thing wasn't going to be too bad.
Iggy reached out his own hand and shook the hand of the girl, who introduced herself as Irina. "I'm Iggy," he replied with a smile of his own. After shaking her hand, Iggy put his hands in his dark jean pockets and looked around as his date seemed to do the same thing. He sort of shrugged in answer to Irina's question. "I've walked around a bit in my time," he said, wondering for a moment. Iggy often had to go and find a pretty secluded area around the grounds if he wanted to smoke without getting his cigarettes confiscated so he knew a few places. One in particular then came to mind. "There's a uh... this spot on the other side of the lake," he began a little awkwardly. "It's a bit of a walk, but it's a nice little spot." There were, after all, there to take a hike.

Iggy, as he introduced himself, was to be her date for the afternoon. He must be a year younger she supposed, as she would have remembered his face around in classes if he was a fellow seventh year. “It’s nice to meet you Iggy,” she said with a smile. Perhaps this idea wouldn’t be so bad after all. She hadn’t heard much about him, which meant that he couldn’t be a perfectly awful human being, right?
“I don’t have a problem with a bit of a walk,” Irina said, sounding a little overconfident. She would have to remember to keep her knowledge of the vast grounds in check at least in the beginning. She strongly believed in giving people a chance, before inflicting them with all the information she knew from her many, many hikes around the area. Perhaps Iggy would surprise her; she’d give him the benefit of the chase at least. “Do you get up to much hiking?” she asked him in an attempt to start a conversation. She was a little out of her element; falling in love with Daniel, despite his complicated nature, had been easy. She didn't really know how to do the whole...getting to know y ou part of dating. She walked in pace with him, letting him take a half step ahead so he was leading the way.

Iggy smiled when he saw the Gryffindor with a smile herself. "You too, Irina," he said with a nod. Iggy was starting to think maybe his signing up for this thing wasn't so stupid after all. Irina seemed like a very kind individual, and he was glad he got matched with her.
The Slytherin was pleased with the girl's answer, glad that she didn't mind a bit of a walk. A lot of girls didn't like going so far on foot on "dates" so Iggy was just a little surprised that she did, though happy nonetheless. Iggy walked along beside Irina with his hands tucked into his jean pockets. It was slowly beginning to get warmer outside so he was glad he was just in a dark green, long-sleeved shirt. "Well," Iggy started by looking down at his feet before looking to Irina. "I like to get away from people sometimes..." he didn't feel the need to mention it was to smoke cigarettes just yet. "So, I always end up wandering much further than I intend to. But Hogwarts is pretty good looking, so I don't quite mind it." He shrugged. "What about you? Most girls I've met don't quite like walking so far," he noted with the corner of his mouth curving into a small smile.

Irina chuckled at his comment about most girls not wanting to walk out this far. "I'm not like most girls," she said before she could help herself. In a way, she supposed she wasn't like most girls. Most girls didn't have horrible nightmare visions of death and destruction, and most girls who had said visions didn't date empaths who had to move back to their home country to get away from everything going on at Hogwarts. That was not a conversation she intended on having with Iggy here and now, however. "I like hiking, running, climbing trees. It helps clear my mind," she said, elaborating a bit on the subject. It certainly was a way to clear her mind, something she had needed to do a lot more this year after starting Occlumency lessons with Professor Constantine. Those had been put on hiatus after he'd been called away, but that didn't mean Irina still wasn't training. She needed to be ready, and vigilant in case she was tested.
"I understand wanting to wander," she told him, offering a shy smile. It was easy to talk to Iggy so far; Irina forgot how comfortable it was to talk to someone else about general things. It was a nice change of pace for her. "So, I guess part of this date involves talking about ourselves? Aside from wandering too far from the castle, what else do you like to do?" she asked him.

When Irina said she wasn't like most girls, Iggy smiled and couldn't help the chuckle that slipped out. It was always nice to meet someone who was different than all the others, especially when they seemed like a confident, cute girl. That was definitely always a plus. "Climbing trees?" Iggy repeated, impressed. "Is it easier to clear your mind when it's in the clouds?" He teased, and hoped he came off as playful. It had been a minute since he found a girl interesting enough to flirt with her like this. Yeah, he was a casual flirter but this was a date. It was different.
Iggy found it relaxing, walking along with Irina and talking to her about nothing in particular. Usually when people asked him what he liked to do, he would say some general or common hobby many others had. He'd generalize himself so as to not stand out so much. But he liked Irina so far, and it couldn't hurt to be honest every once in a while. "Uh, well, I really enjoy wandlore." He said a little shyly. "And potions. I enjoy the outdoors but those subjects have my reading quite a bit too," he shrugged it what he hoped was a nonchalant way.

Irina smiled slightly when Iggy asked if it was easier to clear ones’ mind up in the trees. “For me it does, but it’s certainly not for everyone. I don’t advise if you have a fear of heights to hop up in a tree and see if it calms you down,” she said with a soft laugh. She remembered around this time last year when Rose Weasley came up after her in the tree, if only to chide her for being outdoors without a buddy. She was pretty sure that the Ravenclaw had been terrified of heights, and if anything being up high had made her more irritable. Irina though, felt at home with the breeze tickling her cheeks as she popped her head up above the treetops and could take in the views offered for hours if she wanted to. “I’ve also been climbing trees since I was a child, so I’m somewhat of an expert,” she added, pretending to sound smug. She wasn’t planning on making a career in professional tree climbing of course, but it was one of her favorite hobbies.
Irina’s eyes lit up when Iggy mentioned potions. Good, something they had in common that she could easily talk about! “Potions? That’s one of my favorite subjects,” she exclaimed happily, letting her arms relax down by her sides; she had realized she had them crossed tightly across her chest and didn’t want Iggy to think she was standoffish. “I’m currently the Captain of the Potions Club actually. We haven’t had many meetings this year unfortunately due to the Tournament and Professor Constantines’ absence, but I am hoping to hold one before the years over to at least pass the baton over to someone.” Irina hesitated, then continued. “You should come, so I can see what you can do,” she suggested.

Iggy smiled and raised his eyebrows at Irina in amusement. "An expert on climbing trees?" He repeated with a chuckle. It was funny how people sometimes looked the exact opposite of the type of person they actually were. Iggy never would have guessed that this girl would have loved to climb trees, but that just goes to show you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. "Well, where we are going there are plenty of lovely trees to climb," he said, walking on. Iggy wasn't normally one for climbing trees himself, but he would certainly be up for the challenge if Irina presented it to him.
It surprised Iggy when Irina said she was the captain of the Potions club. So much so, he found himself momentarily speechless. Again, something he never would have expected this girl to enjoy. "I didn't know there was a club," he admitted a bit sheepishly. Here he was, a fan of potions and he didn't even know there was a club! It just further proved how out of touch with the social aspect of school he was. "But I'd like that." He said with a smile, then realized he didn't want to sound too eager so as to not sound creepy, he added "I could always do with some showing off." He laughed, hoping he came off as a joke like he intended.
Iggy continued to lead them until they reached a very shaded area with trees every few feet. "The spot is right up this way," he said leading Irina the last few steps until they reached a spot that had a clearing of trees that overlooked the Black Lake. It was as if someone had planted the trees purposefully to create this nice little clearing for the perfect lake view.

Irina grinned back at him. “Good,” she said simply, tossing her long hair back behind her shoulders. She didn’t necessarily do it on purpose; whenever it got in her way she’d push it back one way or another. Tossing her hair usually had a nicer effect on anyone who was looking though. “There is a club, but we’ve only had one meeting this year,” Rina confirmed, laughing a little. “Between Professor Constantine's’ absences, the Triwizard Tournament, and the international student delegations, it’s been a little difficult to cement down a meeting time that everyone could get to,” she confessed, sounding a little sad at the idea. She really did hope that she could find the time to get everyone together again before she graduated, even if it was just to make a fun, quick and easy potion. “Perhaps I’ll have to set a hard potion then, and really challenge you,” Irina suggested, her eyes glinting with the idea of competition. She did need to name a successor after all, and if Iggy liked potions as much as he was saying, perhaps he’d be in the running.
Irina looked out at the lake from the clearing, a smile spreading across her face. “I have to say, no matter the viewpoint, looking out at this lake never gets old,” she told him, sighing contentedly. She stood in silence next to him for a few moments, taking it in. Her mind decided that then was the perfect time to remind her that she was in fact on a date. Should she try to hold his hand? No, that seemed too forward. Move closer? No they were close already, she didn’t want to come off as easy. Irina glanced upward, willing the nagging voice inside her head to shove off. “Well, you said you’d like to try climbing some trees,” Irina started slowly, walking around the base of one whose branches started off pretty low. “Care to try your luck on this one?” she suggested. “The view from the top would be even more spectacular,” she added, to include another incentive.

Iggy took note of how the grin the Gryffindor wore was contagious in making his wider, and he certainly took note of how lovely her hair looked as she effortlessly tossed it over her shoulder. How had he never met Irina before? Aside from their age difference, he would have thought maybe their paths would have crossed by now. He would surely have remembered her face. Iggy couldn't help but sense the more sad sounding tone in her voice as Irina spoke of the club and he decided to help in making it more light hearted. "Well, you tell me where to meet you and I'll be here. There hasn't been a potion to stump me yet, you know," he puffed up his chest a little sarcastically, but smiled all the same. Of course he was exaggerating, but it didn't hurt to tell a fib in the name of light hearted flirting, right? That's what this was, at least, right? Flirting?
The Slytherin looked out over the lake in content silence with his date. His date. He hadn't been on a formal one of these in so long. Not that he had ever been exactly good at dating... but still. Standing out and overlooking the lake with Irina was... very nice. "You got that right," he agreed with the Gryffindor. Iggy sat for a moment more, overlooking the lake until he saw Irina move from beside him. He turned to her, eyebrow raised, as she asked if he would like to climb a tree. Normally, Iggy would have opted out. But he found himself actually wanting to pretty bad. "Yeah," he said, with a nod. "Yeah. After you, of course. Have to learn from the expert, of course," he said with a sly grin.

Irina giggled as Iggy puffed out his chest; she recognized he was flirting of course, and she supposed it couldn’t hurt to flirt back a little bit. After all, she was technically a single woman. No, scratch that; she WAS single. She had been dumped by Daniel and he had gone back to Durmstrang, and she didn’t know if and when she’d see him again. She had to stop holding onto the past, and move forward to unexplored opportunities to find her inner peace again. “We’ll see about that,” she bantered back, accepting his challenge. Her mind was already going through some of the more complicated potions she had successfully concocted, wondering which one would be thoroughly challenging. “Perhaps if you can’t get it I can add you to my tutoring list,” she added with a small laugh. Okay Irina, don’t overdo yourself, she thought, shaking her head a tiny bit.
Irina felt her cheeks turn a few shades pinker as Iggy offered her to climb up first, needing to learn from the expert. “You happen to have the best of the best right in front of you,” she couldn’t help but brag a little. And why not; she had been climbing trees for almost as long as she had been tall enough to reach a sturdy enough branch. “You want to find a good branch to start off with,” she instructed, reaching up and testing a few of the branches, aware that a tiny patch of her pale stomach was being revealed. Suddenly feeling self conscious, Irina tugged her shirt down and leapt up onto the first branch. It reached Iggy’s shoulder so it should be easy for him. “Just use your upper body strength, put those arm muscles to use,” she said half teasingly. She moved up a few branches so that Iggy had enough space to climb up to the first branch and waited.

Iggy couldn't remember the last time he had put himself out there with a girl enough to have such casual flirting between them. Since he broke up with Madison, he hadn't really wanted to date anyone. Then again, he had never really tried either. Iggy raised his eyebrows when Irina said she would maybe think about adding him to her tutoring list. "Oh, really?" He countered with a chuckle. "Well we will just have to see about that, then." That could be fun... following up this date with... another date? Or would it be just a casual, study hangout? Either way, Iggy found himself perfectly content with the idea of spending time around Irina again.
The Slytherin grinned as the Gryffindor boasted, placing his hands on his hips expectantly as he awaited the expert to show him her ways. Iggy watched, listening to Irina's instruction as she began testing out a few branches. As she reached up, Iggy caught a brief glimpse of her stomach and he immediately averted his eyes to the branches above to make it seem as if he hadn't been staring at her. He didn't want to come off as some creep! Iggy looked at the branch above him where Irina now was. "Oh, so you noticed my muscles? Pretty hard to miss, huh?" He said jokingly, pretending to flex briefly before giving a jump up and using his upper body strength to pull himself up onto the branch now beneath Irina. Once that was done, he slowly stood up on the branch and reached above for the next one, pulling himself up once more. Iggy looked around himself quickly before looking just above him at Irina. "Well, how about that. The expert is a great teacher, too." He grinned.
