Irina rolled her eyes at Iggy’s comment. “You’re wearing long sleeves, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt,” she declared, wrinkling her nose at him before laughing. It was surprisingly easy to talk to him she was finding. She was curious how they had never met before, it wasn’t as if Hogwarts had a very large population of students. Sure, he was a year younger than her, but they had certainly been in the same Great Hall for breakfast and dinner at the very least during the Welcoming and Leaving Feasts. She felt like she should have noticed him before, so why hadn’t she? “So what’s your story? How have we been going to the same school for six years and never have met?” she asked him curiously.
She didn’t get a chance to receive a response as Iggy bolted up the tree and landed on the tree branches above her. Her eyes widened and her mouth formed a perfect ‘O’ before she started laughing. “Alright, alright you’ve done this before I see,” she relented, grinning. Her look took on a competitive edge. “But you still can’t best me when it comes to tree climbing,” she started, before standing up straight and latching on to the branch above her. Quick as a cat, she scrambled up a few branches so that she was looking down at him, triumphant. “Can you match me for speed though?” she asked, climbing up one more tree branch before pausing.

Iggy couldn't help but laugh as Irina wrinkled her nose at him. Iggy had always been a bit of a sarcastic guy, and he was glad to see she had a good sense of humor with a bit of a sarcastic streak herself it seemed. Iggy stood still on the tree branch as Irina proceeded to ask him how they had never met. The Slytherin heard her of course, but took this perfect moment to catch Irina off guard when he bolted up the tree a few branches, wearing a wicked smirk across his face as he did so.
Ig stopped a few branches above her and looked back down at Irina. "Hey, I did say you were a good teacher, didn't I?" He replied with a toothy grin. Then, it was Iggy who was caught off guard as Irina quickly scrambled up the next few branches and before he knew it, she was looking down at him. Iggy's brow furrowed in surprise. "Alright, you got me there," he said, hanging his head in mock shame. Iggy knew there was no way he could beat Irina for speed. Sure he had climbed a few trees in his days, but he was no expert like Irina.
The Slytherin climbed up to meet Irina, the two of them higher in the tree now as it overlooked the grounds and the lake. Iggy looked out at the lake a moment as he let his breath catch up to him. After a second, he looked at Irina. "So," he said slowly, a smirk spreading across his face. "What's your story? How have we never met before now?" He resisted the urge to laugh as he repeated exactly what Irina had asked him before back to her.

Irina raised her eyebrows in surprise, but kept her balance as Iggy lept up onto the same branch as she was on. They were close, but there was enough distance that Irina didn’t feel uncomfortable. The date hadn’t been going on that long yet, and so far Iggy was being the perfect gentleman. She wondered how the Blishwick Dating Services had even started; she had met one of the Blishwick girls briefly but the girl had seemed bored out of her mind so the conversation itself had been rather brief. She was the niece of the man who ran the whole business from her understanding however. She wondered what it was like to be the relative of such a person who made their business in matchmaking. She couldn’t deny that this date was going rather well, and she had a mild curiosity what the man behind the curtain was like.
Irina made a face as Iggy threw her question back to him. “Fine, ladies first I suppose,” she said mock exasperatedly. She hopped up another two branches so she was looking down at him. “Hmmm,” she mused, stroking her chin thoughtfully. “Well, I have an older brother and two younger sisters that keep me pretty busy. Then there’s orchestra, Potions Club and….” she paused, wondering if she should tell him about her previous relationship with Daniel. Better to be honest than lie, she supposed. “And last year, I was in a relationship, but we broke up on New Years Eve. He ended things,” she trailed off softly. “Now it’s your turn, what's your story?” she said quickly, wanting desperately to move on from the subject of her.

Iggy smirked in spite of himself as Irina hopped up two more branches and huffed sarcastically about 'ladies going first.' She seemed to have a rather nice sense of humor and Iggy enjoyed when he could banter with someone who matched him in wit and sarcasm. The Slytherin climbed up just behind her, staying one branch behind as he listened to the Gryffindor talk about her siblings and her clubs. When she mentioned that she was in a relationship, Iggy's eyebrows rose up in slight surprise. He hadn't been expecting such a bomb to be dropped so soon, and was quite surprised by how honest Irina was. Though, it was to be admired. He couldn't help but feel a sting of sadness for the girl, though, in the way her voice trailed off at the end of her sentence. It must have been serious. "I'm sorry," he said rather awkwardly but stayed rather quiet. Iggy wasn't the best at expressing sympathy but he truly did feel for the girl. "I feel for you, though," he shrugged a bit. "My last girlfriend? I don't know if you know Madison Roberts? She's in your house. We didn't end on very great terms either." He cringed a bit at the thought of his ex-girlfriend. "Were you... were you guys pretty serious?" He asked quietly again, treading lightly and not wanting to make Irina feel like she was under any obligation to answer him.
Ichabod let out a deep sigh. "My story?" He repeated, thinking for a moment and running a hand through his hair. "Blimey, uh," he stuttered a moment, wondering where to begin. He figured, though, that honesty was the best policy since Irina had been so honest and straightforward with him, he figured he owed her the same courtesy. "I live with my mum and sister, and my older brother but he and I don't get on so well," he shrugged at the last bit. "They're muggles. My dad; he was a muggle too, he died when I was ten." That sentence had become a lot easier to rehash over the years. Telling it now wasn't so bad anymore.

Irina nodded; she did recognize the name. “I know her, we read tarot cards together once,” she commented with a small shrug. She really hadn’t seen Madison around much anymore and she had no idea why that was exactly. She should probably see if the girl was okay eventually, but that was a thought for another time. What did matter was that it was now evident that Iggy did not exclusively date Slytherins, unlike some people of that particular house. Her brother, who had graduated last year, had of course been a Slytherin, but he had dated plenty of other girls outside his house. “We were, but he left,” was all Irina would say on the matter when Iggy asked if they had been serious. She wasn’t about to get into more details with someone she was on a date with after all.
“I am sorry about your dad,” Irina said softly; she couldn’t imagine life without her dad. It didn’t matter that he was Viktor Krum, celebrity Quidditch player and former Triwizard Champion. To her he was just Daddy, and she was a daddy’s girl through and through. “Let’s get down and see what’s in the picnic basket the house elf just left at the base of the tree,” Irina suggested, wanting a change of subject. She climbed down the tree with ease and poked her nose into the basket. “There’s cheese,” she called up. Cheese was always a good food to have.
