The day before was a Saturday, and Addie Lee had made the most of it, doing some activities for the Art Club, and then drawing a few sketches in front of the Black Lake. She also managed to get some Defense Against The Dark Arts studying in, despite not being all that energetic about doing so. Still, these were troublesome times, and she needed to make sure her defensive magic was up to par with whatever dangers might make their way into the school. Her mother was a Muggleborn after all, and her father was a Pureblood who had gone against his own family's prejudice views. In a lot of ways, that made Addie Lee herself a target. The better she was at defending herself and her friends, the safer she felt.
Today was Sunday, and it was a lazy one for Addie Lee. All she wanted to do was lounge around the Common Room. She found a nice, empty couch and plopped down on it. Shortly after, her cat, Nightshadow, crept down from her nap and jumped up on the Slytherin's torso. Addie Lee smiled and she stroked the cat's fur.
"You want to go out and play, don't you?" she asked. Nightshadow meowed. "You were out with me all day yesterday, and you ran yourself ragged. Today I rest, and you can explore the Common Room." Another meow. Addie Lee kissed her cat on the forehead. "Be nice and I'll bring you something tasty from dinner."
Addie Lee eventually sat up, and stretched a bit. Nightshadow jumped off her lap and ran off into a corner of the Common Room.
"Probably spotted a rat," she said. She shivered a bit at saying the word though. She hated rats. Absolutely hated them. She had no qualms about Nightshadow taking one out of its misery. Addie Lee then looked around. "Come to think of it, I am a bit bored."

Lydia was happy that it was Sunday, of course. She was planning on having a nice relaxing day, maybe straightening her wild curls for fun or trying some different techniques with her make up. First thing was first, though, Norman needed to socialize. Norman was her four ear old white fluffy cat, with a regal face and a snobby attitude. She. Loved. Him.
She headed own to the Common Room, Norman in her arms, when the cat decided to leap out of them and go off on his own. She giggled, "don't do anything mommy wouldn't do!" she called after him. It turned out he was just headed over to see what Nightshadow was up to. Which meant Addie was probably around! Lydia grinned, dancing around the dungeon room until her eyes settled on Addison.
"Ad!" she called, skipping over to her friend and planting herself beside her. "How are you? How are things? Norman just ran off after Nightshadow. I swear, I don't know how the rats here even stand a chance with that dynamic duo."

Nightshadow looked over as Norman joined her. The cat was a friendly one like her mistress, and had grown fond of Norman early on. She gave a meow of greeting to the other cat, then went about her rat-hunting, happy that she now had a companion to join in the fun. Addie Lee looked over and smiled at the two felines before she turned to Lydia. Since she was bored, she was happy her friend had appeared. She adored Lydia. Addie Lee had her sister, Zoey, but the two were so different from one another that they didn't really hang out all that much at home or school. Lydia was different, and Addie Lee had sort of adopted her as a sister as well. She really enjoyed the younger girl's company, even moreso than some her own age.
Addie Lee pulled Lydia into a brief hug as she joined her. She then chuckled as Lydia spoke of the cats and how the rats didn't stand a chance. She certainly hoped so.
"If they could get rid of the whole lot of them in the castle, I'd be over-joyed," she said. "Never liked them ever since one of the buggers tried to take a bite out of me. I just hope Nightshadow doesn't bring one back as a present." Addie Lee shuddered a bit at that, and decided to get off the subject. She then gave Lydia a big smile.
"I was going for a bit of a lazy Sunday, but now that you're here, what say we go out and have a bit of fun before dinner?" she asked. "Maybe check out the blokes on the lawn?" She looked over at the cats. "I'm sure our respective felines wouldn't mind having a romp about." Lydia's presence had given Addie Lee that burst of energy she needed.

Lydia was happy to receive the hug and hug back, of course! Then Addie Lee said she would be over-joyed if the cats could get rid of all the rats in the castle and Lydia giggled and nodded. "Oooh, yes, Norman does bring them back sometimes... I like to think of it as more of him showing off a trophy," but, in reality, it was kind of a thing among cats to bring their owners back their dead rats and birds and things as gifts and offerings. Which was strange to Lydia, because in some cultures cats were the ones receiving gifts and offerings. Like gods. Not that Norman didn't get his fair share of gifts!
Lydia grinned and nodded when Addie Lee suggested they go out for a bit of fun before dinner. She, of course, squealed a little at the thought 'checking out the blokes on the lawn'. "Oh, I'm sure they'd be thrilled! Yes, I think adventuring outside to survey the blokes, as you say, sounds like the perfect way to spend a Sunday," she agreed. She turned toward the exit of the dungeon common room, ready and willing to go.

Addie Lee grimaced at the idea of Nightshaodow proudly placing a rat in front of her. Then again, at least a dead one wouldn't bite. But cats did as cats did. She always loved the mystery associate with them, as well as the history. She just adored cats in general, especially her own. And yes, she brought Nightshadow lots of lovely gifts, usually string or food.
"In that case, we should make them a more ideal trophy, like a Kitty Quidditch Cup," she said. "That'll get their minds off the rats... I think." Addie Lee then chuckled.
Addie Lee loved Lydia's excitement at her idea. Damn the girl was adorable. Before she could respond to her friend, Lydia was heading for the exit.
"Well we're all eager, aren't we?" she joked. "Don't blame you though. There was a nice selection out there yesterday. Lots of quality male bums." She then turned to her cat. "Nightshadow, we're going out." The cat sped to her feet. It always worked.
XXXX
Once outside , Addie Lee plopped down on the lawn and looked about. There weren't as many boys out as the day before, but they were there. Addie Lee smiled.
"You know, Lydia, they really do serve a purpose... boys I mean," she said. "They're nice to look at and fun to toy around with. I think we'd be terribly bored without then." Meanwhile, Nightshadow was chasing a bug in the grass.

Lydia giggled and applauded at the idea of a Kitty Cup, "I can sew little uniforms!" she squealed. She loved kitty clothes! And Norman didn't seem to mind them. He always looked so handsome. He was no doubt the most fashionable kitty in the world.
Of course she was in a hurry to go outside! The way Addie Lee presented it made it far too charming to idly wait to go. It was going to be a fabulous activity, and fabulous things (like Lydia herself) shouldn't be kept waiting.
Soon they were outside, though Norman chose to run off once they were in the fresh air. Lydia gracefully sat herself down beside her friend, and nodded at her observations. "Quite so. I'm afraid I'm not so good at the messing with them part yet, but I'm sure I'll get there. I do enjoy looking, of course." She continued to do just that, her eyes settling on a rather fine Durmstrang fellow walking by. "I do wish more of them understood fashion, though. They could look even better," she sighed. Really everyone should know a little about what would look good on them, she thought. It was professional to look nice! Still, she supposed she understood why some people didn't care... But not really.

Addie Lee smiled at the idea of Nightshadow in a little uniform. The cat would probably hate wearing it, but at least Addie Lee could get a good sketch out of it before the cat gave a demanding meow to take it off. Still, if Norman liked wearing one, maybe Nightshadow would hop on the band wagon given the cat's fondness for Lydia's feline.
"I can help," she said. "Maybe use some of those lessons on design that mum taught me. Where do you think Norman would be sorted? Nightshadow's a Ravenclaw for sure. Sometimes she's too smart for her own good."
Outside, Nightshadow lost interest in the bug when it tried to spit some green goo on her nose. She saw Norman dash off and followed her companion. Lydia spoke of how she wasn't ready to mess about with the boys, causing Addie Lee to raise an eyebrow.
"My young pupil, your teacher is here," she said. "See, you're incredibly beautiful, so you have that part down already. You just have to learn to use that beauty for a bit of entertainment with them. Give'em a wink, catch their eye, but just a little bit at the time. That drives them mad." Addie Lee then looked serious. "However, if you find one you really like, make sure he's the right one. I made the mistake of assuming so a few years ago, and it left me with a pretty broken heart. You're like a sister to me, and I don't want that happening to you."
She then nodded about the boys not understanding fashion.
"I agree," she said. "Remember some of those dress robes at the last dance? Ugh..."

Lydia grinned and nodded as Addie Lee suggested that she could help make the uniforms, using what she learned from her mother. Then she asked about where Norman would be sorted, and Lydia chuckled. "Ravenclaw does suit little Nightshadow! Norman would definitely be a Gryffindor, he's a little troublemaker," she chuckled more. "I tried raising him to be a gentleman but he's too busy running off on he's own adventures, chasing daydreams."
Addie Lee reminded Lydia that her 'teacher' in the land of boys was there. Lydia grinned, turning toward her friend with wide eyes and nodding excessively as Addie started to speak. Well, Lydia did know she was beautiful, that was true. Use it for entertainment? Interesting. A wink, just a little at a time... ooh! Driving them mad sounded promising. Then Addie Lee spoke about what to do if she found one she really liked. Lydia wasn't sure she could decipher really liking someone verses just... liking them because they were a cute boy.
Broken hearts were sad, though. Especially if it was her friends. Addie Lee worrying about her made Lydias smile a little softer, though Lydia truly wasn't worried about herself at all. "I will take all your words to heart, my dear. I wouldn't want to go through such heartbreak either," she said, placing a hand on Addie Lees arm. "I'll stick with messing around for now. I'm only fifteen," she chuckled.
Then Addie Lee mentioned the dress robes in regards to fashion and Lydia grimaced, "Oh, I remember. It should be illegal for some boys to dress themselves. Or even for their old fashioned mothers to."

Addie Lee chuckled about Norman chasing his dreams and having adventures. She watched the nearby felines. Perhaps Nightshadow should be a Gryffindor too.
"Well, looks like my cat is right there beside him," she said. "They make quite a pair... just like you and I." She smiled at Lydia. "I think we all have our daydreams though. What's yours? We Slytherins are ambitious. What greatness do you wish to achieve?" She knew Lydia well, but felt as if they had never discussed career goals.
Addie Lee nodded when Lydia said she didn't want heartbreak. No one did. Addie Lee damn sure didn't. She could only hope that Lydia could stick by that, and not walk into the wrong arms. For now, Lydia needed to be young and joyous as Addie Lee was before all that happened.
"Well just in case, I have your back," she said. "I know a curse or two for naughty blokes who don't know how to treat a lady. I can teach them to you as well."
Addie Lee laughed about what Lydia said about the robes. She loved how her friend put things.
"Brilliant!" she said. "I agree, completely illegal, and my mum would go pale if she saw those robes." She then thought. "Hmmm... might be a good reason to drum up business for mum's shop next term. Want to help with some shameless plugs?"

The cats did make quite a pair, just like them! Lydia grinned at that, looking over to Addie Lee as well. Addie Lee asked what her daydreams were and Lydia smirked. Her darkest daydreams weren't things she was able to share out loud here... but she could share some lighter ones. "I would like to be a part of high social standing and be able to impact the world that way. As some sort of rich philanthropist," she said with a nod, very sure of that answer. That was what she wanted, but not necessarily because she wanted to help all people, just specific ones. Wizards, really. She wanted everyone to be safe and cared for as long as they were of magical blood. Those were good people.
Addie Lee said she had her back when it came to messing with boys and Lydia giggled, "I'll take any lesson you want to teach me, my darling," she promised. And she really would, too. Addie Lee was clever and smart and gorgeous, all things Lydia tried to be.
Addie Lee mentioned her mother, a woman who Lydia had grown to love through knowing what she did and how her daughter spoke of her. She giggled and nodded, "shameless plugs are my specialty! I would love to help drum up business. Heck, I'd love to be in the business," she said.

Addie Lee understood the social thing. Her father was a famous actor. Her mother was a fashion designer. She was already in the big social scene in Wizarding London. It was nice at times, and she got why Lydia would like it. At other times, she just wanted to hide in her room and draw.
"I know you'll make an impact," she said. "Those like you were put here for a reason. I just hope I'm there when you do, so I can be a witness to the awesomeness." She then sighed. "I just want to make an impact in the art world, like have my work displayed somewhere. Show off my talent the way Mum and Dad do."
Addie Lee grinned when Lydia agreed to learning some lessons from her. She didn't want to see Lydia as a minion. She loved her too much for that. But a pupil... that could work.
"Hmm... we can get started tonight before bed," she said. "I have a really great spell book. It's a legal one, but it has some fun stuff in it."
Addie Lee nodded about Lydia helping with the business and even being in it, and she thought a moment. She then had an idea. She turned and grinned.
"Well... Mum will need some store hands over the summer with the new lines and all," she said. "And she likes you, so I'm sure she'd appreciate you being around." It was true. Addie Lee's mother was fond of Lydia. She wasn't fond of some of the friends Addie Lee brought over, but she liked Lydia. So did her dad. Even Zoey seemed to like Lydia well enough.

Addie Lee said she knew Lydia would make an impact and Lyd blushed, scrunching her nose a little. "Oh, you'll witness it," she promised. With any luck, the whole wizarding world would witness it. Lydia beamed as Addie Lee spoke of her art, "I will make sure of that! We can auction it off for my charity events and stuff. We'll be a team," she suggested giddily.
Addie Lee said they could get started on some lessons before bed with a spell book and Lyd squealed with delight, clapping her hands. Then Addie Lee said that her mum would need some store hands over the summer and that she liked Lydia, and the little Slytherins eyes widened. "That. Would be. So fun! Are you going to be helping out at all?" Lydia was sure that either way she'd see a lot of her dear friend over the summer. They had a way of getting together no matter what. These two could make an occasion out of anything. Not too mention how well Lydia fit in with her family. It was a darn shame Addie Lee didn't have a brother...

Addie Lee and Lydia a team? Addie Lee liked that. She also liked Lydia's idea about auctioning off work. Addie Lee was all for charity. There would always be wizards and witches who were less fortunate and in need of basic provisions.
"I'm there," she said. "I think you and I were destined to be together until the end of time." She doubted that was literally the case, but when she graduated, she would not leave her "little sister" behind. "Maybe we won't have to wait though. I mean, there's always people in Diagon wanting to raise money for good causes. We can check them out when we go back home."
Addie Lee smiled and nodded about helping out her mum. She loved her mum's shop and all the great fashion she sold. Since her mother designed everything, Addie Lee often got to have dibs on what she wanted. Perks of being a daughter.
"Of course," she said. "I plan to at least be there to help part time. I'm sure mum can schedule us together, and along with her paying you, I know she'll let you have a few outfits for free." She reached over and took Lydia's hand. "We're going to have a lot of fun!"

Addie Lee said they were destined to be together until the end of time and Lydia giggled, nodded. She preferred not to think of their age difference in moments like this. Lydia could get rather clingy, but she would try not to show it... at least not until the last moment when her dear friend was living. Then Addie Lee said they wouldn't have to wait and suggested Diagon Alley visits. "That's a great idea!" she agreed.
Addie lee said that she was planning to help at her mothers shop at least part time, and that they could be scheduled together. "Oh, she doesn't even have to pay me! The outfits are all I need," she said in all honesty. She didn't expect to be someone who made money. She was always sure that she would be matched with someone very, very wealthy, so there was no rush for anything like that.
Lydia squeezed her friends hand when she took it, "we will! Any other fun plans for the summer with you, darling?" she asked.

Addie Lee loved the idea of spending the summer with Lydia in any way possible. She would try to visit Lily and others, but she wanted to see Lydia as much as she possibly could. Friends were amazing, but "family" was the best. She knew there was much planning ahead.
"I bet Dad would get some of his theater mates to help too," she said. "They love worthy causes. Their group does them all the time. Maybe they'll lend us to props and we can put on a show for the crowd."
Addie Lee laughed about Lydia getting paid in clothing.
"Mum will insist on paying you, but you could just turn around and spend the money on more clothes," she said. "Though leave some for work lunches. Those are always fun with her other employees. They make you feel like one of them, even if it's just for a short while. You get to engage in all the Diagon gossip."
Addie Lee smiled at the affectionate squeeze and then smiled at her friend again.
"You're the best, you know that?" she said. She then shrugged about other plans for the summer. "I might talk Mum and Dad into traveling some. Maybe hit the beach a few days. Think you can join me for some of that?" Nightshadow then made her return and hopped into Addie Lee's lap. Addie Lee stroked her fur. "So how was your romp with Norman... or am I allowed to know?"
