It was a rather boring Saturday for Daniel. Middle of the day and he was already either caught up on classwork or it was something he could finish quickly. That or it wasn't going to get done at all. There were plenty of assignments he just turned in that were rushed just cause he didn't want to bother with it or it was uninteresting. Whatever was left undone at this point would probably fall into that category. Instead of that Daniel was walking down the staircase from his common room with a wooden box under his arm with a location in mind. It wasn't till he heard of the large room from the Gryffindor ghost. It was a room in the dungeon used just for parties for the ghosts most of the time aside from that it was unused. Daniel had just been asking about the school but when the ghost told him that he had gotten an idea.
Daniel found the chamber pretty easily once he had gotten down to the dungeon floor, the directions were pretty spot on. It was a large room big enough for a party like he would assume with some chairs and tables against the walls but nothing in the center area. Candles on the wall and floating near the ceiling were lit with blue flames gave just enough light. Daniel placed the wooden box in the center, pulled out his wand and tapped it twice with it. The lid opened and four metal discs the size of plates shot out and hovered in the air above him. In Ilvermorny these were used as targets in dueling class and when learning certain spells. Daniel wasn't sure what they used at Hogwarts as he hadn't bothered with joining the dueling club here nor seen them used in class. Back at his old school the club would use these outside but he didn't want to deal with other people nor have them come asking what he was doing.
"Go." Daniel said while standing in the center of the discs and they moved around slowly at first. Daniel got ready and pointed his wand at one and shot a bolt of yellow lightning at it having learned a long time ago to use baubilious non-verbally. It hit the target right in the center with a loud zap sound, Daniel moved on to the next and the next each time they got faster and faster as they flew around the room. At this point some of the targets tried to hit Daniel, they didn't hit hard but they would knock you down. After about seven times one finally got him and he fell back after which the targets stopped and returned back to just floating. Daniel always enjoyed dueling club and practicing but just never did at Hogwarts as he got up after a laugh. "Go." Daniel said continuing to try and hit the targets, only missing occasionally.

Addie Lee hadn't had what one would call a dull Saturday so far. In fact, she had rather enjoyed it. She had been sketching the Forbidden Forest (from a safe distance of course). The awesome thing about sketching that was when she managed to see the strange inhabitants running through it. If she could catch one on her sketchpad, it was definitely a bonus. Today it had been a centaur, and she got a clear enough image of his face to really had to the drawing.
Sadly, all fun things came to an end. Addie Lee knew what would be next- school work and practice with defensive magic. The first she figured she could do before bed or on Sunday, though she had learned her lesson in the past about waiting two look. As for Defensive Magic, she knew she needed to get on that. It was not just about doing well in Defense Against The Dark Arts class. The reality was that people around her were being threatened, some she cared about. She might not have been the bravest or the most skilled, but she would fight alongside her friends... and fight to protect her Muggleborn mother if she had to.
Addie Lee decided to use her dungeons to practice. She returned her sketchpad and pencils to the Common Room, grabbed her wand, and made her way there. As she approached, she heard someone saying "Go" over and over again. She smirked and crossed her arms at the sight of the Gryffindor boy.
"Well, well," she said. "A Lion here in the Dungeons among the Snakes and the Badgers? Not comfortable enough in your Tower?" She then chuckled. "I'm just trying to get a rise out of you, mate. I actually came here for the same reason as you."

Daniel felt he had to have gotten rusty since he wasn't hitting them as often as he used to or as many times before one of the targets got close enough to hit him. It wasn't like he practiced enough, the last time was back when he was in America and at Ilvermorny and that was last year. Daniel just hadn't bothered to find the time while at Hogwarts. Either way getting rusty annoyed him slightly but he still found it fun to finally get to practice as he took a break for a little bit. At least till he heard someone around say something. Daniel just knew his being alone wouldn't last but it couldn't be helped. The dungeons were home to both Slytherin and Hufflepuff common rooms. He also wasn't being to quiet about his training either.
"Life can grow boring in a tower, sometimes you need to go underground to have some real fun." Daniel replied as he got what the girl was getting at. Daniel had only been a Gryffindor for under a year but he was used to the animals of the Hogwarts houses already. Daniel did laugh slightly as she said she was just kidding and was down here for the same reason as him, he doubted it slightly but he didn't say it out loud. "I suppose great minds think a like at times." Daniel said with a small smirk, he recognized the girl from some classes but couldn't remember which or her name so she had to be the same year as him though. "Well far be if from me to hog all of the fun." Daniel said as he moved out of the way, he was just taking a break after all and didn't mind sharing. "Have at it, the Dungeons are you're home turf after all."

Addie Lee raised any eyebrow when the boy spoke of how a tower can be boring, and it was fun to go underground. She actually disagreed there, but then again, she had reason to.
"Well being down here all the time is no picnic either," she said. "Imagine looking out the window all the time and seeing the giant squid swimming about. It gets a good bit cold down here too when you're not near the fireplace. I tend to get a bit ill in the winter months." She then shrugged. "To be honest, I sort of wish that we could switch out with you or the Claws for a term, see how tower life is. Idea's been shot down though."
Addie Lee liked when she thought alike with someone from another House. She liked thinking like some in her House, but there was something about a different one. She guessed it brought a togetherness with them about. And speaking of, she needed to introduce herself to the boy.
"Indeed they do," she said. "By the way, I'm Addie Lee, lover of cats, art, and gazing upon handsome blokes like yourself of course." She then chuckled. "Also flirting... if you couldn't tell already."
The boy then offered her to have at it, since this was her home turf.
"Well my home turf is a lot cozier than this place... when the fireplace is roaring anyway," she said. "But since you gave me the good word, I'll give the target practice a go." She gave the command to the discs, and one flew out. She aimed her wand, uttered an incantation, and blasted it. She was still working on a few spells, but she had this one down. "Oh I like these discs."

After his comment about coming down to the dungeon the girl made a comment about her common room and about wishing to change common rooms for at least a year. As she said the idea was shot down he wasn't surprised. While a change of scenery is always nice changing the location of the common room that had been there since the school was founded would be hard to convince anyone. "You have a point. You could always camp out in one of the abandoned class rooms in the fifth or sixth floor. There's plenty of them." Daniel replied just kidding, even if it was out of the dungeon he imagined it would be far less comfortable. "I'd even offer to trade common rooms with you for a day but I imagine they would notice me pretty quickly that I wasn't you in the girls dorm." He added with a small laugh as he was also kidding once more but he always did wonder what the other common rooms looked like.
After the girl agreed she introduced herself and as she did Daniel just smirked at the last thing Addison listed. Adding that she enjoyed flirting if he couldn't tell which he obviously could but decided to play along. "I had a feeling but you're so subtle about it I couldn't really tell." Daniel replied as he felt he show introduce himself, it would be rude not to and he wasn't one to be outright rude to anyone who didn't deserve it. "I'm Daniel McKay, at your service. I enjoy Quidditch, chocolate, dragons and being noticed for my good looks." Daniel replied trying not to laugh a little near the end as he wasn't anywhere near that vain. "One of those was a joke, I'll let you figure out which."
"Well my apologizes, I'll get to work having some couches and a fireplace put it so you can be comfy." Daniel said sarcastically as he was just messing around, he was sure almost anywhere had to be cozier than this room but he wasn't here just to be comfortable. As she said she would give it a try Daniel sat down on the floor against the wall and just watched. Daniel just smiled as she said she liked it. "Yeah they're not bad and pretty resistant to most things so they don't break easily. We used to use them at Ilvermorny all the time."

Addie Lee laughed about camping out on the fifth or sixth floors. She had made out with a few boys on the sixth floor before, but she wasn't going into that. She really didn't feel like naming some of the names of those guys, as they weren't really all that respectable. Damn were they cute though.
"I think I'll pass," she said. "I've heard some of the castle rats like to make a home out of the abandoned classrooms, and I am not a fan of rats. Also, the suits of armor seem to always get into heated arguments up there. They'd keep me up all night."
Addie Lee laughed again about Daniel getting caught in the girls' dorm.
"Well, they might have mercy on you," she said. "You are pretty damn cute after all."
Addie Lee raised an eyebrow about one of Daniel's likes being a joke. He had a feeling she knew where he was going with this, but it didn't hurt to jest with him again. He was pretty fun to talk to and all.
"Well I hope you're not joking about chocolate," she said. "I just don't think I can be friends with someone who doesn't like that." She gave him a grin at that. "Well I don't think I could hate you, but there would be some strong resentment."
Addie Lee shrugged about the things that needed to make her comfortable in the room.
"Meh, just conjure up a bottle of wine and I'll be good," she said. Addie Lee then turned when Daniel said he was from Ilvermorny. "Ilvermorny, you say? Let me guess... you were a proud Pukwudgie? No, that's not it. Since you're a big, bad Lion now, I'm guessing you were a Thunderbird."

"I guess you have a point." Daniel agreed with a nod, still he couldn't remember seeing any rats. Besides the ones the some students kept as pets, he supposed at they did probably get out all the time. As for the suits of armor those did seem to argue wherever they wanted at times. "Well that just leaves the top of the astronomy tower. As long as the sky is clear it's pretty nice up there."
Daniel just laughed as she talked about him getting caught in the girls dorm. "Somehow I think I'd just end up almost getting killed." He replied with another quick laugh, "you on the other hand would be just fine if we switched places. I can see them eating out of your hand."
"Oh trust me it definitely wasn't the chocolate part but now that we're talking about I'll have to see if the kitchen as any later." He also laughed as she went on about not wanting to be friend with someone like that. "Well obviously, anyone with that bad taste can't be trusted."
"I'll get right on that." Daniel replied with a smirk while she practiced as she asked for him conjure up some wine instead of worrying about making this place comfortable. Still he wasn't sure is Addison was kidding or not. As they spoke of his old school she seemed to know the houses pretty well and even guessed the house he used to be in. "It's almost a little surprising just how much some of the houses matched the ones here at least in characteristics. Also I hadn't done much to earn the title of bad, well yet that is."

Addie Lee could see herself spending a night in the Astronomy Tower... as long as the weather was nice. Great, now she wanted to try that, and she probably would... and probably would get into trouble for it. This Daniel was a tempter, he was. She loved it though.
"Perhaps we can gather a few mates and have ourselves a little camp out," she said.
Addie Lee raised an eyebrow when Daniel spoke of the other way around. Ooooh, now that did sound fun.
"Surrounded by strong, brave Gryffindor boys as handsome as you?" she said. "Well I doubt I'd disagree with the situation. I wonder if I'd get the Cleopatra treatment... being served grapes and all that... or grape candy. Much better."
She was a bit relieved to hear that he did indeed like chocolate... and was planning to see if the kitchen had some.
"Hmmm... I might just tag along," she said. "Those elves practically dance at the opportunity to make you something." Addie Lee's family didn't believe in owning House Elves, but she did love how eager they were to serve at Hogwarts. It was really cute.
So she was right... a Thunderbird. She guessed he might have wondered how she knew.
"I have an American cousin who attends school there," she said. "He and I owl each other often. He's a Horned Serpent. He's told me a lot about the Houses and what they're like. My sister, Zoey, adores him because Horned Serpents are a good bit like Ravenclaws."

"A few mates?" Daniel asked as if he was genuinely confused but he did understand what she was getting at. "Are you trying to say my company isn't enough?" Daniel added more just teasing her a little than being serious. "I think my heart just broke a little." With that he finally laughed a little breaking the illusion if there was one that he was serious about feeling hurt.
Daniel laughed slightly as she seemed to enjoy the thought of being in the boys dorm with other Gyffindors at her service. "It wouldn't surprise me if that happened honestly. Plenty of them are suckers for a beautiful girl." Sadly it was true but even he was victim to how boys acted even if it was to a lesser degree than some of his other classmates. "Chances are it would be grape candy more than the actually fruit, so you'd be in luck there."
"Feel free to tag along." Daniel replied after talking about going to the kitchen and her talking about following him and of the house elves. "But if for some reason they're low on chocolate this might get interesting if there's only enough for one of us." With a smirk on his face he allowed her to imagine whatever she wanted there as he was just kidding. He also doubted with the magic of both the school staff and house elves they ever ran short of anything in the kitchen.
As Addison explained about how she knew of Ilvermorny and it's houses it made more sense. While a lot of people knew of he school not many knew much more than that. The same with how the students back home knew of Hogwarts but that was about it for the most part. "Makes sense." He replied, he was tempted to ask her cousins name but he didn't have many friends that were in that house, the chances were slim he knew them anyway. All this talk of his old school always did make him a little home sick, well more than normal. "Family all over the place sounds pretty interesting."

Addie Lee raised an eyebrow at him when he seemed none too keen on the idea of there being others there. Well so much for not coming on too strong. This was an interesting one.
"Well if you keep charming me, I might just change the count," she said. She knew it wasn't happening though. That was a good, quick way to get expelled, and Addie Lee didn't want that with only one year left to go. "Or... perhaps on our next free weekend to Hogsmeade, you could buy a girl a Butterbeer and see where things go."
Addie Lee laughed about boys feeding her grape candy. The image was too hilarious. She wondered how long that would last before the Head of House booted her out. Damn, why was Addie Lee thinking of the consequences these days?
"Grape candy it is," she said. "Tell them to bring some crystallised pineapples for good measure."
Addie Lee smirked when Daniel said how things would get interesting if there was just enough chocolate for one. She doubted it as the elves were pretty well stocked.
"Are you suggesting that I would wrestle you like a common ruffian over chocolate of all things?" she asked. "Well... then you'd be right." She then winked. "Haven't had a good wrestling match in a while." The last one was with her sister, Zoey, and it was so long ago that she couldn't remember what it was over.
Addie Lee sighed about family being all over the place. She remembered her Pureblood relatives on her dad's side, and how she had no idea where they were... and could care less.
"Well, if you ask me, some of mine could stay where they are," she said. "Dad's a Pureblood, but he married a Muggleborn in my mum. His family went complete nutters. But they can all piss off with their rusted old views." She then sighed. "Sorry, conjured up a bit of nasty history."

"Well it looks like I better keep trying then." Daniel replied, he had only been kidding about feeling hurt still it wouldn't be the first time he had fallen asleep at the top of astronomy tower on a nice night. The few times it happened he was lucky enough to wake up in time to get back to the common room. Another perk of having a common room that close to the astronomy tower he supposed. "I guess that can be arranged." Daniel replied with with small laugh.
"I'll make sure they have all the trunks stocked up for when cleopatra arrives. Too bad I'll miss it when we trade places, it'll be a sight to see. I'll probably be busy getting hexed till next school year." Daniel joked, as if they could trade places but it was still a funny thought. If they had he would imagine he wouldn't make it out of the girls dorm, let only Slytherin girls dorm alive.
"It's just chocolate of all things." He said with a shrug in a tone like he was going to dismiss the idea. "Of course we shall fight over it. I was going to say rock, paper, scissors but wrestling works." Now that would have been a sight, wrestling over chocolate of all things and with a girl no less but it wouldn't have been the first time he had fought over something like that.
"No need to apologize, I was the one to bring it up after all." Daniel explained from his spot against the wall. He hadn't expected the conversation to turn that direction but family was a tough subject for some people. Just like himself " As far as I know it's just me and my father, if I did have family they never talked about them and they're probably back in America." Where he wished he was if his father hadn't dragged him all the way to Europe. Still if he had family he could have just stayed there with them.

Well, looked like Addie Lee had arranged a date... perhaps. Part of her clammed up, against remembering the guy who broke her heart and made her so damn cautious about a strong relationship. Part of her told herself that Daniel seemed nice and this would probably just be in good fun. She hoped the second part was right.
"Alright then, it's a date," she said. "But I warn you, you may have to follow me all about Honeyduke's. I'm serious about my sweets."
Addie Lee rolled her eyes about Daniel's worry over the Slytherin girls hexing him. She already knew of a few who would be up for some snogging.
"Well, granted there are some nasty Slytherin girls who would love to curse a Gryffindor," she said. "But I know a few who might want to keep you there for more pleasant reasons. It might not be as bad as you think."
Addie Lee chuckled about rock/paper/scissors. Wrestling was definitely more fun, especially since she learned a new hold.
"Meh, that's too easy a game," she said. "Most everyone goes for rock. They think rock beats everything. Then they're like 'oh...right...paper'."
Addie Lee smiled and nodded when Daniel said that it was just him and his father. She knew some who had less than that. Addie Lee couldn't imagine losing her mom, dad, or sister though. She wasn't always on the same page with her family, but she loved them dearly.
"Just remember family's not always about blood," she said. "I love my family a great deal, but there's also my friend Lydia. She's like a little sister to me. You have any mates like that?"

Daniel just laughed a little as the girl claimed that it was a date and threatened that he might have to follow her around Honeydukes. "Noooo anything but going to honeydukes." Daniel said his voice full of sarcasm as he enjoyed sweets more than most people he felt like. "I think you'll get bored of Honeydukes before I do." He didn't know much about Addison so that might not have been true but he could only assume for now. He had spent plenty of free days while at Hogsmeade at that shop.
"Well that might make it a little worth the risk I suppose." Still the idea was just a joke but it would be tempting just to satisfy his curiosity of what the girls dorm might look like. He would imagine it just looks like the boys dorm, maybe just a little bit cleaner but still without seeing it himself his mind wondered to what it could actually be like.
"So just go paper and win, got it." Daniel replied with a small laugh as she did have a point that people might always go rock but if that was true you just go paper and win more often.
Addison asked if he had any friends like family and he would have said yes. Yet they weren't here, he left all that back at home. He had some he could call friends here but nothing like the ones he had back home. He left friends, people like family, everything all back in America. Still he didn't want to be the downer here in this conversation. "A few and I know what you mean, it doesn't have anything to do with being directly related." Still even if they weren't here they were still his friends so it wasn't like it was a lie.

Addie Lee chuckled when Daniel said that she might get bored at Honeyduke's before he did. She was liking him more and more. He was handsome, funny, clever, and seemed sweet. However, she was cautious about the last part. HE had seemed to be sweet at first too, but... no, that was not fair to the Gryffindor she was talking to. She didn't need to assume bad things about him. Perhaps they would just be good mates, and she didn't want to ruin that.
"That sounds like a challenge," she said. "Perhaps we'll see who can find the best candy as well. I hear they're introducing a few new things next weekend. One's called a Leprechaun Wish, imported from Ireland. They say each one will be whatever flavor you wish. But beware... wishes can often backfire."
Addie Lee finally broke out laughing about the strange scenario.
"Well, until such a thing happens to both of us, what say you and I see how well we can get along," she said. She offered her hand. "Always happy to make a new friend."
Speaking of friends, she liked that Daniel agreed with her about friends. Friends had really helped her through the first years away from her family, and now they had helped her get past the harsh break-up that had scarred her want for another strong relationship.
"It's a big, cruel world out there, and sometimes we take what we can get," she said. She then raised her wand. "Shall we return to the discs?"

"A challenge that I'm more than up for." Daniel replied with a smirk as he did have a weakness for sweets as Addison continued with her idea for a challenge. Daniel just laughed as he hadn't heard of this new candy or whatever it might have been. It sounded interesting for sure but could only imagine what would happen if you messed up the wish. "Sounds interesting but I can already imagine the dares to eat terrible flavors, just like those beans."
He smiled at Addison's next comment, "Well so far it's been alright it so should stay that way. Unless you go and take all the chocolate then we have a problem." Daniel joked as he took her hand and shook it. "Same here," he replied about new friends even if he was wasn't happy about here he would never want to be rude to the people who weren't responsible for that.
Daniel nodded at Addison's comment about life. "Isn't that the trust." He finally replied while Addison raised her wand and asked if they should return to practice. "It is the reason I came down here after all," Daniel said with a slight laugh as he got off the ground. "Making a friend was just a happy accident."
