It was raining. No, it was absolutely pouring down outside. And Persephone had never been so elated. She had been waiting for the spring months to arrive, knowing that with the spring months came the rain and the flowers and just the prettiest of views. She'd awoken to the sound of the rain droplets banging up against the castle with strength, it was like an announcement. Like an alarm. She got dressed in her rain boots, a pair of her favorite skinny jeans, and a t-shirt before she made her way down the stairs in a rush, a grin on her face. She passed up a few people she knew; it wasn't so early that there wasn't anyone else awake so she smiled and waved. As soon as her feet hit the concrete floor of the entrance hall, she took off running for the courtyard.

Her feet carried her to her destination swiftly and as soon as she stepped outside, she inhaled sharply as the cold droplets hit her skin. Lifting her face to the heavy rain, she let the water pelt her cheeks, almost stinging, and she took a few steps further into the courtyard as if she could get deeper into the rain. Any on lookers, and there were a few of them, would deem the sight of her strange; she held no umbrella in her hands nor did she bother to put on a rain cloak or coat of any sort. She just stood there, letting the rain soak through the fabric of her clothes. She'd probably be sick later. She didn't care. She liked the way she felt too much.

Not only did the coming of spring months mean that it would bring the pouring rain seasons, but it also brought Peyton’s birthday. While that latter was important to everyone in her family, including her two other sisters that made up the triplets, the idea of a rainy day with a good book was the best in her mind. She loved sitting in the library by the window and reading a book while it poured outside. She hated being in class while the lovely rainy weather went on outside, it just meant that she was antsy and unable to focus. But today was different, instead of being at the library reading while the weather came down, she had been outside. It went from being a perfectly cloudy day with a cool breeze, which had brought her outside, to begin with. And then the water came pelting down upon the courtyard, and while her book was most likely ruined, she remained sitting there.

But as she slowly began to get cold, mostly because she was dressed without a jacket to keep her bare flesh free from the pelting rain, she stood up. But from the corner of her eye, that was when she noticed a blur of blonde hair and when the person finally stopped, she realized just who it was. Sephy, one of her triplets, had come running out into the rain and just stood there. Peyton herself was rather level-headed, and she knew that anyone that was in this rain for too long would get sick and a bit of worry ran through her being. She quickly gathered her things and slowly went over to her sister, unsure if she should interrupt her.

Clearing her throat, she looked at the side of her head, “You aren’t worried you’ll get sick?” she questioned in a slightly amused tone, but it was filled with the worry and protectiveness she felt for her sister’s health. She was the oldest out of the triplets, after all, she had to keep the two others in line.

She wanted to take it in completely. She wanted to cold water to envelope her. Actually on second thought that would be a little bit terrifying so she quickly changed her mind about that. She almost opened her mouth up too to catch a few of the droplets on her tongue but her mother had always warned her against doing that because she could get sick. She was probably going to get sick anyway but she could handle a cold. She took a very audible deep breath, a serene smile still stretched across her face when the sound of a familiar voice reached her ears and momentarily snatched her from the little world she'd created. Her smile was still on her face as she turned to her sister Peyton. "Nah, I'm not worried. I know I'm going to get sick," she commented in her usual airy, carefree tone, "It's just something I have to accept if I'm going to be able to enjoy this weather."

She was waiting for her sister to shake her head at her for her intentional carelessness; she expected it. Really she just wanted to grab on to her sister and spin with her in the rain. She could enjoy it with her! Throw caution to the wind and worry less about getting sick. Sephy then backtracked because she really didn't want her sister getting sick. "What are you doing out here, sister mine," she added the flowery language at the end and gave a smile bright enough to contrast the gloomy weather.

‘Nah, I’m not worried. I know I’m going to get sick. It’s just something I have to accept if I’m going to be able to enjoy this weather.’

At that moment, Peyton could have strangled her sister, but instead shook her head with a small laugh. While she wasn’t doing much better with still standing out in the cold rain, her sister was already prepared to get sick. If their mother was here, or even any of their older siblings, they would have had some words with the girls. Her mother would have warned them that getting sick because of a love of weather was not the way to go around. Peyton wanted to snatch her sister up and take her inside, force her into a warm shower and then give her some tea to combat the cold before it even came, but she refrained. If her sister got sick, she got sick. And it seemed like Peyton was going to get sick along with her.

“I was reading, wasn’t expecting the rain to come anytime soon,” she said truthfully returning the smile that her sister flashed at her. Peyton and her triplets were extremely close, had been all their life, or at least, that was what Peyton believed. She felt connected to her younger sisters, and she hoped that they felt the same. “If I had known it would rain today, I would have done my reading in the library.”

That inevitable head shake came and Sephy grinned at her sister and the prediction itself. "If it makes you feel any better, I won't stay out for long and I'll make sure to drink lots of tea when I go back inside to try and keep it away," she nodded her head with a psuedo-seriousness that she didn't feel down to her core. She liked tea anyway so if she decided to drink some, it wouldn't be because she was trying to keep the oncoming cold away. "With lots of lemon and honey too." She raised a palm into the air and watched as the droplets simultaneously collected and splashed one another away. "Seriously Peyton, you can't say it isn't magical out here. Explainable magic is still magic." She was and has always been enthralled by the rain. How it chilled and yet warmed her, how it could be falling in one place and absent mere inches away, the way that it soaked everything around it. She loved it.

Peyton then commented that she was out reading and hadn't expected it to rain today, saying if she had known she'd have been in the library instead. "And miss the start of it all? I wish I could have been out here when it started rain. You're so lucky," she pouted a bit at the thought. "Are you heading into the library now? Or are you not going to leave without me?" Sephy had the distinct feeling that her guess was the right one and she felt her heart explode with love for her sister, grinning once again.

Peyton sighed, calming the bossy side of her down in that moment. Oh, how she wanted to tell her sister that she should go inside, at that moment, but she knew that forcing people to do things they didn’t want to do, was horrible. She may be bossy, but she was a nice person. “Alright, fine,” she said in defeat with a smile on her face, “But you’ll be dealing with me joining you, I am not getting sick, not this close to the end of the year,” she said in a final tone. Her tone and words died on her lips as her sister, so enthralled by the rain, began saying that Peyton herself could not deny that the rain was quite magical.

Peyton laughed at her sister’s words of her being lucky to have been caught in the rain and she smiled, “You say I’m lucky and I say I’m soaked and freezing,” she said shaking her head. “Do you believe that I’ll leave you?” she questioned “I’m going to stay and make sure you go inside before you grow ill,” she said with a smile. “Why don’t we walk? That way we don’t get soaked through as quickly and can keep ourselves a bit warm?”

"Good. That just means I have a good excuse to stick around you. We can both enjoy some tea," Seph continued grinning at her sister when she said she would have to deal with her sticking around. She liked being around her sisters anyway so she was perfectly fine with spending more time with Peyton. They were in the same house and a few of the same classes but she never felt like she'd spent enough time with her siblings. Her and Penelope especially. She did know, however, that Peyton hadn't necessarily meant it in that way. The tone of her voice held some authority in it and Persephone would listen eventually and head inside with her to get out of the rain but she just wanted a little bit more time. Just a little bit more and she knew she would be completely soaked by then.

Sephy joined in her sister's laughter when she commented that she was soaked and cold. Seph actually enjoyed the chill the rain brought. It probably hadn't been that much warmer before the rain came but on warmer days when it rained, the cool rain was welcomed. She really wished she would have been able to capture the rain when it first started, that way she would know for certain when the temperature had been like before and if the rain had made any difference. "I knew you'd say that. You take care of me so well," Sephy commented, adoration clear in her voice when, just as she'd expected, Peyton told her she would make sure that she got inside too before she went herself. She then chuckled a bit at her sister's words about not getting soaked through, even though she did began to walk back towards the castle doors. She didn't think her sister would appreciate knowing that she was trying to get soaked. She'd just equate it to her trying to get sick, which wasn't the case at all. The idea that her sister was cold, though, hit her, and she linked her arm with Peyton's in an attempt to transfer some of her own warmth to her. "Have you been studying for O.W.L.s? Are you going to sit for all of yours?" Sephy decided to ask conversationally. She was pretty prepared for hers. Especially Astronomy, she actually couldn't wait for it.

A small laugh slipped past Peyton’s wet pink lips, the rain already running down her eyes. Her blonde hair was damp with rain, almost a darker shade of the normal color. Her clothes were still dry in some spots, thankfully. “You don’t need an excuse to stick around me,” she said with an amused tint to her tone of voice, even as a small shiver made its way up her spine. The idea of tea already sounded lovely to her slowly freezing bones and flesh; even a nice hot bubble bath sounded good to the Hufflepuff. The rain pelted against bare flesh and the ground, the two began to walk, or rather, Peyton followed closely behind her slightly younger sister. Though thankfully the cold began to disappear, all because the niceness of her sister’s warm radiated towards her the moment their arms linked. She smiled at her, “Thanks,” she breathed out. Peyton may be nice and smart, but she got cold rather quickly, not the that two things had anything in common. She was surprised though that her sister still had that warmth about her, almost envious.

As she slightly cuddled up to her sister’s side for warmth, her arm not being enough after a few seconds, she listened as her sister asked about studying for the O.W.L.s and she almost laughed, “Do you have to ask that?” she questioned amusedly. “I’ve been studying for them since the beginning of the year it seems like, though I got a little more studying to do before I’m fully prepared,” she breathed out before looking at her sister “What about you?” she questioned.

The sound of her sister's laugh was like music to her ears and she grinned triumphantly at the happy sound. Her words had accomplished their goal and had been meant to make her laugh. "Of course I need a reason to stick around you or you might get sick of me. I don't know how long 'because I love you' will last when I go into a crying fit," she giggled lightly as they continued their short trek up to the large castle. It was really a toss up on how her sisters reacted to her when she was crying. Of course it all depended on the reasoning behind her crying. Small things were always a toss up depending on how they felt themselves about the subject. The one thing she always cherished though was that they always made sure she was alright before they became frustrated. She loved them all so much. , "It's just something I have to accept if I'm going to be able to enjoy this weather."

She nodded in an understanding fashion as her sister began talking about her study habits for the fast approaching exams, though there was a clear amusement in her eyes. Peyton was good at school so Seph didn't think she had much to worry about when it came to O.W.Ls because she was bound to get great marks on them. She'd even just admitted to studying like crazy for it so she was sure to do well on them. "I should be good, I think. I'm certain I'm ready for the Astronomy one so I'm not even worried about that one. Some of the others might give me a bit of trouble but I've been studying a little bit," she commented with a quick shrug. "So does that mean you're going to sit for all of them?" she then asked curiously. She had no plan on sitting for every single O.W.L she could because she wasn't even fully interesting in some of the classes she was taking now.

Peyton let out a small laugh come out of her mouth, while sometimes Persephone’s crying for no reason at all could grow annoying, she believed that merely cheering the other girl up made up for it. They were sisters after all, and through thick and thin, at the end of the day they would always love each other as such, and that included Penelope as well. They were triplets, after all, they shared the same womb for a whole nine-months, they already knew how to put up with each other. The cold air blew through her wet blonde hair as they continued their trek to the castle, and she quickly held in a shiver. She didn’t want to alarm her sister with her coldness, primarily because she was the reason she had stayed outside so long. Peyton seemed to put others before herself and to stop Persephone from getting sick.

It was then that OWL’s were brought up, right after Peyton’s question, her sister told her that should be good, or at least, she thinks that she will be. Peyton smiled, letting her sister continue talking about Astronomy and how she wasn’t worried about that one as much as she was the others, though she had been studying a bit. “Well that’s good if you need help studying you can always do it with me. I’ll be happy to help,” she said with a smile on her face. It was then she was asked if she was going to sit for all of them, and she shrugged her shoulders, “I’m not sure yet. I might. I mean—I’ve studied a lot for all of them, so why put that studying to waste,” she said with a small laugh as she tucked a strand of wet hair behind her ear.

Peyton let out another laugh at her words and Seph's face lit up with another grin, squeezing her arm lovingly closer to herself. She knew her siblings got tired of her constant crying but she also knew that they would love her no matter what and that they would cheer her up when they had the chance to. Or rather when they could because she knew sometimes she could be inconsolable. Even though they all did it in different ways and showed it in different ways, they all loved her and she loved them all right back. Just her thought process made her almost tear up but she quickly changed the direction of her thoughts because she didn't want Peyton to get sick of her so soon. They were almost to the castle anyway.

The castle doors loomed over them just as Peyton suggested that if she needed any help studying, that she could come to her for help. "I'm so glad you said that because I'm pretty sure that I'll need your help. I think I ask Quinn too many questions sometimes so I don't want to keep her from studying too much. I'll let you know though when I need help," she smiled back at her sister easily. She was sure Penelope would be willing to help too. And if not then they could help Penelope with studying too. The great thing about having sisters in the same house was that it was easier to coordinate everything. They lived together so they could find each other much easier to coordinate study efforts. A few steps up and they were at the doors. Sephy pushed it open to allow her in before nodding at her sister's answer to her question. She didn't know if she was going to sit for all of her O.W.L.s or not but her sister wasn't wrong. "Well that depends on you. If it doesn't have anything to do with what I want to graduate and do, I don't think I should sit for the O.W.L since it determines what class I'll take next year."

Though the haze of the conversation, Peyton noticed the castle doors began to loom over them, and she was thankful. No more would she be cold and wet, though it may be a bit too late for that now that she thought about it. She was already soaked through, her blonde hair sticking to her pale flesh as if she were sweating. Damn her and her need to make sure her siblings weren’t getting hurt or in trouble, and damn Persephone for liking the rain and standing within its rain field. Peyton laughed, “You ask Quinn questions but not me?” she questioned with a fake gasp before pouting her lip out “How rude.” She was sure that Persephone knew that the blonde was joking, she didn’t mind if her sister asked her for help or not, as long as she knew that she could come to her with anything. Persephone pushed open the door, and the two entered, before quickly saying that the O.W.Ls depended on what she wanted to do, “I don’t know what I want to do, I have an idea of what I want it to center around, so if I take them all…I take them all. I’ll be ready for any job description,” she said with a small laugh.

It took Sephy seconds to realized that Peyton's pouting wasn't serious. She'd been honestly worried that she'd hurt her sister's feelings but she knew Peyton better than that. She laughed and hugged her just as they got through the door. "I promise I'll come to you if I really need help. We share a dorm after all and even though you aren't there sometimes you're right there more often than not so I can come to you easier," she smiled happily at her sister. She and Quinn did actually study together often so Quinn was near enough that it was easy to ask her questions but there were times when she studied in the common room and she would ask Peyton or Penelope for help. Maybe she could ask Peyton a little bit more now? They did share plenty of classes together so if Quinn didn't know it or wasn't there, Peyton definitely would. When the subject changed back to O.W.Ls, Sephy nodded her head at her sister's words before grinning. "So you've decided what you want it to center around? What's that?" she asked, clear excitement in her voice. Whatever it was she decided, she'd be happy for her sister no matter what. Peyton was really smart so she knew that her career choice would suit her and her intelligence.

Peyton laughed, smiling brightly at her, “I’m here whenever you need me, but if you want to ask Quinn questions more, go for it,” she said with a little wink and a nudge in her sister’s direction. “I promise I won’t get too jealous that you go to her for help more than me,” she added jokingly. Her sister seemed to perk up, excitement clear on her face as she asked Peyton what she wanted her future centered around and she shrugged, “Well you know that I love charms and creatures, so maybe something around that? But who knows what the future will bring, you know? In a year or even two years my entire outlook on my future could change, maybe I’ll become a doctor,” she said a bit jokingly, but she never threw out the possibility. She followed her heart and let it lead her to whatever fate wanted her to follow.

A laugh bubbled out of Sephy at Peyton's words regarding her being okay with asking Quinn questions. Even with Quinn being her best friend and them spending a bunch of time together, she thought that she spent only a little bit more time around the Ravenclaw than she did around her triplet sisters. They were all in the same house after all so when they were all in the common room, the spent time together. She knew her sisters had other friends but she loved spending time with them when she could. Sephy had other friends as well but most of her time was spent with her sisters and Quinn. It just turned out that way. Sephy listened and nodded along while Peyton talked about her what she wanted to do after school. She felt herself agreeing with her sister when she mentioned things being able to change in a short amount of time. "It's a good thing we still have time to figure everything out. I don't think my love for astronomy will change but who knows what could happen next year? Maybe I could be come a doctor too," she burst out laughing at her own words, hoping Peyton would laugh too. Being a doctor was something she thought was basically impossible for her. It was too hard. "Come on, let's go back to the common room so we can get dry. I kind of... left my wand there too or else I'd charm us dry." She said the words apologetically, knowing Peyton would probably be more disappointed with her but she smiled away.
