Brandon wasn't really looking for anyone, but at the same time he was. He hadn't seen Adonia since that day when they talked about what happened between her and Rosie. Well, he'd seen her here and there, but not really. At least, the two hadn't spoken and it was ... strange. Then again, maybe it wasn't. It wasn't like he and Adonia were particularly close with one another. They just, well, he thought they were better friends than this. Or maybe she'd just been very busy lately? He didn't know.
So he wandered the castle grounds, trying to keep an eye out for her, but not really sure what he was doing. He wasn't sure if she wanted to talk to him or if she was busy with other things. He couldn't help but be curious. Not that he thought she'd come out and tell him if she was avoiding him ... what was he thinking? Brandon didn't really know what he was doing or how he felt, other than confused. He wanted to keep Adonia as a friend because he truly did enjoy her company. He just wasn't quite sure how to make that happen ... or if they already were and he was just reading into things.
He saw a figure a ways in front of him and called out, wondering if it was her. "Hey, wait up!"

Adonie was having a pretty good day. The day before she had experienced a rather lovely moment with Diana, though she was sure that they wouldn't have the same kind of moment again. The girl was pretty and nice, sure, but Adonia was already bored with the flirty side of their relationship. Sometimes that happened once she had someone, she didn't really care to be with them again. It wasn't like that all the time, but that happened to be the case here. Of course she'd still be friends and lightly flirt with the girl! But she was sure it wouldn't get as close as last time. Not unless she was bored and Diana brought it up. Come to think of it, she didn't even know Dianas last name. She should find that out.
Now, she was headed up to the castle with a little skip in her step. When she heard that voice, she stopped. Brandon. Brandon. She laughed to herself. She had almost forgot about her issues with him. She was feeling good today, though, and she spun around, a grin on her face. "Well, if it isn't Brandon Fisher. Long time. I hope you've been practicing what I taught you?" she said, jumping straight to the point. Had he and Rosie kissed? How much? Where they serious?

She turned around, a wide smile on her face and Brandon's thoughts about whether or not she was upset with him left. She wasn't mad, was she? She seemed just fine to him. He laughed as she greeted him, asking if he'd practiced what she taught him. "Well, not quite. But I'm getting there," he told her with a wink. Really though, he was hoping something like that might be able to happen with Rosie soon. He cared for her, wanted to go on another date with her and hopefully start a real relationship with the girl. She was so sweet and adorable and his best friend. He couldn't help himself. "What have you been up to? Giving other people lessons?" he teased.

He laughed and she felt that annoying pain in her side, but she ignored it. He said that he hadn't practiced, to which she felt a strange surge of warm air rush over her. Then, he asked what she'd been up to, asking if she had been giving other people lessons. She laughed, walking toward him to close the distance more, "I have been," she admitted, reaching up with both hands to straighten his collar, "sadly no one else has been as good of a student," she joked, looking up from his collar to his eyes. "I'd be interested to how well you do after you've had more practice... but perhaps I should let a certain someone handle that? A certain... Hufflebadger?" Sure, she knew what it was called, but it was much more fun to say it wrong. Plus, it gave the impression that she was making light of the situation, even though she felt sick. Why did she feel sick? She lowered her hands from his collar and gently pressed them against his shoulders instead. "You look good. People should write songs about you."

Adonia moved closer as she answered his questions, moving to fix the collar of his shirt. He grinned when she said no one else was as good a student as he was. "Oh really? Does that make me your favorite," he teased with an easy wink as he remembered the carnival. He was so confused at the time but looking back on it now ... he had fun and he appreciated Adonia's part in it. He was definitely glad that the two of them became friends. He couldn't help but laugh when she said she'd like to see how he did after more practice, assuming that she was kidding. "Unfortunately, I haven't had much yet so there wouldn't really be a point to that now," he paused as she mentioned Rosie, not by name, and calling her a Hufflebadger. He couldn't help but laugh again. How come she could make him laugh so easily? "It's Hufflepuff, Adonia," he corrected once he'd gained his composure, too distracted by the mistake to comment on her question about letting Rosie handle his "practice". She moved her hands to his shoulders, but Brandon wasn't really phased by how close she was. Considering the day they met ... yeah, this wasn't a problem. He shook his head, still smiling, when she said people should write songs about him. "Now, now," he started in a joking voice. "I'm the one who writes songs here, and I definitely don't want to write a song about myself. That would probably come off as conceited, don't you think? But I could write a song about you." She was definitely pretty enough to warrant a song being written for her, though lately he'd been consumed quite a bit by the song that Rosie was inspiring. It wasn't perfect yet, but it was definitely getting there, progressing more and more each day.

He asked if that meant he was her favorite. The answer was a sickening yes, but she just gave a simple little nod. He said that he hadn't had a lot of practice yet, which made her pout. He paused for a moment there, and then laughed, which made her smile. She'd much rather make people smile than fight with them any day. Then he corrected the name of the Hogwarts house and she grinned. He said her name, too, which made the grin come even more easily. "Oh, right," she muttered, faking embarrassment.
He said he was the one who wrote songs and that he didn't want to write a song about himself. She laughed as he said it would come across as conceited, but the laugh was cut short when he said he should write a song about her. "Oh, no. Don't do that," she said, honestly shy for a moment before shaking it off. "There is no way you could capture my essence in a song, darling. I'm far too hard to catch."

She just nodded at his question about being her favorite and Brandon grinned at her, deciding to not tease her about it yet. Then she was pouting and he shrugged. It wasn't his fault that he didn't want to freak Rosie out. Yes, he kissed her, but not the same way as he and Adonia kissed at the carnival. That was before he discovered his feelings for Rosie. Adonia looked embarrassed that she got the house name wrong and Brandon wrapped an arm around her shoulders, squeezing her. "You're good," he muttered. He didn't want her to feel bad about anything.
She seemed to take everything else in with amusement, until he mentioned writing a song about her. Apparently she didn't like that idea. He laughed at her reasoning. "I guess that's true. I could still try though," Brandon teased, before adding, "No, I'm kidding. If you don't want me to, I won't." She was a friend and Brandon didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable around him.

His arm wrapped arpund her shoulders and she felt a slight choking in her throat. She let out a soft sigh involuntarily and leaned into him. "Hufflepuff," she repeated.
Then they were back in reality and he was saying how he wouldn't write a song if she didn't want him to. She sighed, a fake dramatic one this time. "Finnnne, you can try, but don't get frustrated when it falls apart," she joked, though knowing in her mind how all to true that statement was. It was impossible to hold onto her, she knew that, just about as impossible as it was to hold onto Brandon now.
She moved away from him, smiling at him with a mischevious smirk, "maybe you could start now," she joked. She raised her arms to either side, "sing for me!"

She was leaning against him, whispering Hufflepuff again and Brandon smiled, nodding. "There. You've got it," he teased a little. She seemed a little confused or something but he didn't mind. He was glad they ran into one another again.
Adonia definitely didn't seem to like the idea of him writing a song for her, but she sighed dramatically and told him that he could try, but that he shouldn't expect it to work. Brandon laughed, his eyebrows raising at her, "You don't think I can make my music work?" He teased again. He couldn't help it. Even if the song was about her, Brandon was sure he could make it work. At least, it would be a challenge for him.
He laughed when she told him to start now. "Lyrics are the hardest part," he whined before winking at her. "Wait a second." He pulled out his wand and summoned his guitar. "I can see if I can get the melody for you though," he teased her back, almost positive that she wouldn't expect him to do this. His fingers started plucking the strings familiarly as he just let them do their thing.

Brandon encouraged her pronouncing the house name right, even though she knew what it was all along. Brandon laughed as she said the song wouldn't work, though, and that made her laugh too. "I'm just saying that I'm not easy to capture," she explained again. The song would probably end up being a jumble of different words and sounds that made no sense to anyone but her... and maybe him.
He said lyrics were the hardest part and he brow wrinkled at him. But then his wand was out and his guitar was there. Her eyes widened and she grinned. That as fast. It's like the guitar was already coming before he summoned it. Those two were as thick as thieves, clearly. But then he said he was going to start a melody and she took a step back. She hadn't really expected him to do that.
She watched as he plucked at the strings and swallowed hard. I don't want to hear it, she tried to say, but she couldn't use her voice.

He shrugged when Adonia said that it wasn't easy to capture her in a song. "You already said that," Brandon teased with a song. "But I'll never know if I don't try." He wasn't entirely sure if he was going to try hard or not. It seemed like she felt torn at the idea of him writing a song about her, which was intriguing. He definitely would have thought that Adonia would be flattered to have a song about her.
She grinned when his guitar was suddenly there, but seemed stunned and not particularly pleased when he mentioned starting with a melody. Hmmm. It didn't seem like she wanted him to try for it now. He smirked at her and rolled his eyes. "Relax," he told her in a teasing expression. "I'm not going to try and figure it out in front of you. I was just messing around." He paused before adding, "but I did realize that I haven't ever played for you before. Do you want to hear something?" If not, he could always put the guitar away, or just continue picking at it, but he didn't want to make things awkward.

Brandon said he'd never know if he didn't try and she felt sick all of the sudden. Then, he told her to relax after playing for a moment, saying that he was just messing around. She nodded, and then asked if she wanted to hear something. She swallowed hard, taking a step back, but her smile was still in place. It wasn't entirely honest looking, but she was trying to make do. "I... I do, I guess," she said slowly. Wait, no! She wanted to say no, but it was too late now.
Plus, what was wrong with a little music? Nothing was wrong with that. Music was supposed to be fun. She blinked and shook her head, rolling her shoulders a little, and smiling up at him again, "yes. Impress me, Brandon," she challenged.

She still didn't seem too excited at the idea of him playing with his guitar, but she seemed to get used to the idea, even challenging him to impress her. All right, if she wanted to be impressed he would definitely do his best, though he wasn't sure how impressive his best was. He liked it, but sometimes he doubted that those around him would. He started to play the song he wrote for Rosie. It wasn't perfect yet, there were still some parts that didn't sound quite right, but he was being picky about it. He wanted it to be perfect when he showed it to her. This song didn't have any words so hopefully it wouldn't make Adonia uncomfortable. Once he was done, he looked up at her curiously. "What do you think of that one?" he asked slowly.

And there he went.
And there the rest of her went with him.
He played a song that was beautiful, and she was grateful there were no words. Somehow, she knew that this song was inspired by someone he really cared for. She also knew that someone was not her, which was fine. Still, when he stopped, she leaned forward slightly as if her body was asking for more. She nodded as he asked what she thought of it. She thought she would want to run but instead she moved to sit, settling herself in a comfortable position, "play another," she said softly, looking up at him with big eyes.

Her expression was stunned. He could tell just by looking at her that she was completely taken aback and surprised and ... pleased. He was glad. He liked it when people liked his music, and Adonia liking this song meant Rosie might like it as well, which was what he desperately wanted. Adonia's only response to his question was a nod, and then she told him to play another one. He did so and continued to play music until he couldn't think of anything else to play. Adonia was a pretty good audience for that, surprisingly and Brandon was glad. It'd been a long time since he got to play so much for someone. --- the end --- @adonia
