Ev smiled and shrugged when he said she was being very nice. She wasn't really ... she had tickets that would otherwise be sold. She might as well give them to someone who was interested in coming. "It's no problem," Ev answered. Honestly, it wasn't and she wasn't one to make something out of nothing. She smiled and nodded, "Al right, one it is then," she confirmed. Then she looked at him curiously. "You're not interested in dates?" That might be a little personal, but he brought it up first didn't he?

Maybe he had said too much, Luke liked to keep his personal things private, but he hadn’t given any specifics so it didn’t bother him as much that he had said it. And, he liked talking, so if it was something like talking about his dating life a little, again, without any specifics, it didn’t really hurt anyone. “Nope. I’m not really looking right now. I’ve got enough on my mind with moving to England on my own and finding a job and a flat and the rest of my attention goes to family.” he admitted. Sure, there was always time for some physical contact or flirty conversations, but actually dating, nope. He didn’t need to get anyone else involved in his crazy family drama. But were they even his family? Would they accept him? Would he want them to? What if they were different than how he was thinking they would be and he was disappointed? What if they were rude and didn’t care to meet him? Still. He had to know. He had to try.

The boy seemed to close off a bit at her question and Evelyn decided that it probably was a little bit too personal. She wasn't expecting a response, but then he answered her and she looked at him curiously. "That makes sense." She hesitated before adding, "I guess we're in the same boat there. I mean, not about moving and finding a new job and such, but I'm not looking for a relationship with anyone either. Not that I was trying to imply anything ..." she trailed off, groaning. Why did Evelyn always have to make things so awkward? He wasn't asking to know anything about her situation, she just offered way more information than he was probably interested in. "Sorry. You should probably come up with another question about now," she suggested, not looking at the boy. She was pretty sure she was blushing a little, even though she really didn't have a reason why. This was ridiculous. She should just go home and hide away from society. Then she wouldn't have to deal with things like this.

The woman sitting next to him explained her situation and hew views of what he had said. She seemed to mostly agree with him, which was refreshing to hear, especially since he had known so many people to focus on their relationship with a romantic partner above all else and forget that there was anything else that was important about life. He wouldn't really comment on it too much, though, it wasn't his place. She continued by clarifying that she wasn't trying to imply that she wanted a relationship with him or anything, something he hadn't even thought she was trying to do, but he could understand why she thought that he might think that. "No worries, I understood what you meant." he promised, wanting to calm her nerves and make her a bit more comfortable. She was blushing when she asked him to pick a new question, obviously embarrassed over her previous comment, but he just took another bite and thought for a second. "Okay, well, you went to Hogwarts, I'm guessing? What house were you in? What was it like?" he asked. It was something they both could easily talk about since they went to different wizarding schools.

To Ev's great relief, the guy seemed to understand exactly what she did and didn't mean. At least, he told her that he knew that she meant and Ev felt a little relieved by that fact. She didn't want him to think she was implying that something should happen between them. She wasn't ready for a relationship right now, not after her broken relationship with Rocco and her damaged friendship with Dustin. She simply couldn't. She nodded when he asked if she went to Hogwarts, and then started asking about her house. "Yes, I went to Hogwarts. I was in Ravenclaw, the house known for being witty and treasuring knowledge above everything else," she answered. Then she paused, "I'm not the best to ask how it was like. I was ... little more than a hermit in school. I was so fascinated by everything that we were learning that I spent all my extra time in looks. Either that or playing Quidditch," she admitted. "How about you? What was your school like?"

Luke listened and ate as his dining companion explained as much about Hogwarts as she could. She admitted to being a bit of a hermit in school, to which he shrugged. What was wrong with that? Nothing. Everyone had the right to do their own things without judgement, especially without judgment from the foreign bartender. It seemed interesting, and different than Ilvermorny, he was very interested in learning more about Hogwarts, especially if he wanted to know his siblings, who were still Hogwarts students. "Well we have houses too that we get sorted into - I was in Wampus which is a house that favors warriors and is supposed to represent the body, I guess." he shrugged. He knew the history of the school and had, of course, read the books for their classes, however it was hard to explain the whole thing with the houses, and he often tried to avoid it if he could. He had finished his lunch, which had been pretty good, he'd have to come back and order something else. "I play a lot of Quadpot - which I guess is our version of Quidditch, a little different, from what I know. But I'll be able to give you a better comparison after I see the game." he laughed.

He didn't seem to judge her for not being particularly social in school, which was something Ev really appreciated. She always felt bad when she ran into people that she should have known at school but didn't because she kept to herself. At least she didn't have to feel that way with him, since he didn't go to Hogwarts. "What are the other houses called? You don't have to tell me about them, just their names." Ev couldn't help but ask when he told her he was in Wampus. It sounded strange, but as she thought about it, the houses at Hogwarts probably sounded differently to someone that didn't go there, so it made sense. She wondered if the rest of the names were as unique as that one. Her eyebrow lifted as he mentioned his version of Quidditch. "Quadpot? Hmm well I'm interested to learn more about that then, once you can explain it to me," she said, surprised by the fact that she was teasing him a little. Evelyn wasn't normally one to tease others, but apparently she was in the mood right now. "We'll have to meet after you come to a game." If he didn't mind, but she was pretending like he wouldn't because she was now curious. She could research it on her own, but it would be more social to have him tell her. Would he mind that? She couldn't decide.

She seemed interested and wanted to know more about his American Wizarding school when he mentioned what house he had been in. He didn’t blame her, he was still curious about Hogwarts and was eager and excited to learn more and learn how different the two schools were really, and how they differed from the other schools that he knew had been at Hogwarts this past year for the triwizard tournament. “Oh there are, Thunderbird, Horned Serpent, Pukwudgie, and, Wampus.” he explained. She said she didn’t need more than just their names, which was good, since, while he knew the basic school knowledge, he didn’t really know what it was like to be in any of the other houses - he mostly only knew those who had been in his own house. “Yeah, once I know what i’m comparing it to I’d love to better explain it to you.” he laughed a little. “Of course - I have to thank you in some way for the tickets, what better than to discuss and compare.” He teased a bit, but he meant it. It did sound fun. “I should be going actually, I’ve got work in a bit. It was really nice to meet you, Ma’am. And I can’t wait to see you play.” He hated that it was taboo to wear a cowboy hat in this country. He felt so empty and goodbye’s felt so weird without a wide brimmed hat to tip at the person he was taking leave of.

He named the different houses in his school and Ev smiled, just a little. They sounded so weird. Then again, maybe the Hogwarts houses sounded strange to him, but now she found herself curious to learn more about his school. Great. She would probably spend the next while going to shops looking for books about Ilvermony so she could learn more about it. At least that way she wouldn't have to push him for more information. Lucas said that he'd explain the game more once he'd seen a Quidditch game and she nodded. That made sense. "That's fine with me. I'll give you tickets, you teach me about your game. Sounds even." Even-ish, but she didn't really care. Ev loved learning new things. "Bye. I guess I'll see you soon then," Ev said in farewell as the guy said that he had to go. That was just fine. She should probably be getting along somewhere too, though she didn't really know where to go. She'd figure something out. --- the end --- @luke
