Georgie's life was finally returning to something resembling normalcy. Her mother had left, yes, but Georgie had come to terms with it more easily than she would have thought. She made no secret of how much she feared being abandoned, but in a way, Barbara had just confirmed what Georgie had already feared was going to happen. It wasn't out of left field, because it was the pattern that had already been established in their relationship. Georgie was rather proud of herself for how mature she was being about the whole thing, not raging or crying or... doing anything, really, other than going about her normal life. Lance had been a big help in the process, obviously, but so had Louis, and Georgie was eager to get to see her boyfriend again. Her studying for O.W.L.s was eating into some of the time that they could spend together, and she was sure that the next year they'd be just as pressed for time with Louis doing his N.E.W.T.s. Such was the life of a couple who were one year apart, Georgie supposed. She was waiting outside the portrait entrance to the Gryffindor common room, bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet. Easter had already passed, but Georgie had organized an Easter egg hunt for her boyfriend - with a twist, of course. She was all too excited to tell him about the hunt - and his prize, if he succeeded in finding all the eggs.

Louis had gotten word from Georgie that she had some sort of belated Easter surprise for him, and he had to admit that peaked his curiosity. He had celebrated Easter before with his friends in the Muggle village close to Shell Cottage, and he had enjoyed some of the traditions, particularly the chocolate Easter eggs. Especially the chocolate, probably mostly the chocolate. He dressed casually in a pale blue button down and jeans, made sure his hair looked presentable, and made his way out of the portrait hole to find Georgie waiting for him. He held back a smile; she was doing that adorable bouncing on the balls of her feet thing again.
He straightened as the Fat Lady closed behind him, and pretended to look lost. “Scuse me, have you seen my girlfriend miss? Tiny, blonde beauty, gorgeous eyes, she’s supposed to be meeting me here but I guess she’s just running late.” Louis sighed exasperatedly, then grinned toothily at Georgie. Moving fast, he scooped her up and spun her around once before giving her a kiss and setting her back firmly on the ground. “Alright Miss Linley, what do you have planned for us today?” he asked, sounding excited.

Louis emerged from behind the portrait of the Fat Lady, a slightly lost look in his eyes. He asked if she had seen his girlfriend, and Georgie let out a loud laugh. “I’m not tiny!” She protested, though her words were cut off as Louis picked her up and whirled her around. Maybe she wasn’t tiny, but Georgie was definitely small enough for the action to be comfortable for both of them, and another laugh burbled out of her right before Louis’s lips met hers. Even when she was back on the ground, Georgie clung to Louis for a moment longer before letting go of him. Louis asked about the plans for the day, and Georgie gave him a mischievous smile. “Have you ever considered how much fun an Easter egg hunt would be if the eggs could run away from you once they’re found? Or if they exploded if you didn’t pick them up fast enough?” She asked. Of all the people in her life, Louis was probably the most likely to have the same thoughts as Georgie about various Easter egg edits that could be made – though Georgie hadn’t spilled all of her secrets yet, in an effort to keep the hunt somewhat of a surprise.

Louis knew Georgie’s protest was in jest, but he grinned widely at her all the same. “To me my dear you are tiny,” he countered, sticking his tongue out. Louis did stand at a stately six feet even, making his girlfriend a good seven inches shorter. It wasn’t an insanely large height differential, but all the same. Louis could prop his forearm on her head if he really wanted to, but he doubted she’d find that very amusing. He shifted his arms so they were clamped around her waist, listening to her as she spoke. He knew the Easter holiday was a big to do back in the States; knowing Americans they were probably pretty competitive about egg hunts like he was.
Louis’ expression brightened as Georgie’s Easter with a twist plan was made clear to him. “Have I?” he proclaimed, sounding excited. The idea of mischievous eggs running around or exploding on him was too good to be true! “Truth be told I haven’t come up with an idea like that, but it sounds like something I’d be ruddy brilliant at,” he told her, looking smug. “Will you be competing with me G?” he asked, curious if he’d be doing this solo or if he’d have a partner, or better yet a competitor in this adventure.

Georgie looked up at Louis when he said that to him, she was tiny. The fact that he was seven inches taller than her might have had something to do with it, but really, he was above average height. “To you, everyone is tiny!” She protested, even though that wasn’t true. There was at least one half-giant at their school, and of course he would easily tower over Louis. There were people taller than her boyfriend… she just wasn’t one of those people.
At her questions about the Easter egg, Louis lit up. Georgie was a bit perplexed by his response – had he honestly had the same thought? That would be pretty cool. Louis then clarified that he hadn’t actually thought about the ways to make Easter eggs more interesting, but that he thought it was something he’d be good at. Georgie had thought the same thing about the extreme egg hunt being right up Louis’s alley, hence why she had organized for it once she’d had the idea instead of just letting it remain a figment of her imagination. “I won’t be competing with you, sadly.” Georgie said. “I charmed and hid all the eggs, so I’d have a little bit of an advantage.” More like a huge advantage, since she literally knew where all the eggs were – or at least where they had started. Who knew where the runners had gotten off to now.

Louis shrugged modestly. “Not my fault I got the Weasley height genes,” he said nonchalantly, but grinned all the same. If he thought about it, his height really could have come from either side; his maternal grandmother was tall and willowy, but his uncles Ron & Percy and his father were both quite tall and lanky. Louis wouldn’t consider himself lanky, but he had a feeling that particular physical trait was offset by his veela blood. He may not have the alluring powers his sisters did, but at least they save him from awkward teenaged years - no acne or awkward heights for him!
Louis feigned a sad pout when Georgie clarified she wouldn’t be joining him in the egg hunt, as she knew where they eggs were hidden. “Yes, but then when I beat you it’d be even more fun,” he protested teasingly. Louis was the Keeper for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, so it wasn’t as if he had the keen eye of a Seeker. Still, he could spot things better than some people at times. “Okay my lady, where do we begin?” he asked eagerly, rubbing his hands together. He crouched down and got into a runners’ start position, as if the Easter Egg hunt was actually a marathon race he intended to win.

Georgie scrunched her nose when Louis said that it wasn’t his fault he had gotten the Weasley height gene. She knew that it was true but she had no good retort for it – she didn’t remember enough about her grandparents to determine whether or not her height was genetics or just poor luck. Height seemed to be just about the only thing that Louis had gotten from his father’s side, though; the blonde hair and blue eyes were obviously from his mother’s side. The part-Veela in his mother had done good for Louis, though Georgie was obviously biased in that respect, and she was certain that even if Louis wasn’t part-Veela, she would still think him the most handsome boy in the world.
Louis asked where they began, crouching down in the grass, and Georgie let out a laugh. “There are eggs pretty much all over the grounds.” She responded. “Some of them make noises, some of them run, some of them…Well, you’ll see.” Georgie said with a snicker. Some of the eggs exploded, and some of them smelled absolutely putrid – Georgie had tried to incorporate all five senses into the scavenger hunt – including the tasty reward that Louis would receive if he was successful in retrieving all of the eggs.

Louis immediately began to scan the area, in search of any eggs that he could spot. He didn’t see any just yet, but that obviously didn’t mean they weren’t nearby. “Alright, you better stick close to me G in case I need you,” Louis instructed, giving his girlfriend a wink. Even if he didn’t need her in this hunt, he’d still want her close because he enjoyed spending time with her. He supposed that was a very good thing given they had been dating for nearly nine months now. Merlin, nine whole months. Louis paused for a moment thinking about the date they had gotten together last summer. To his delight, it would be falling over one of the weeks his mother was looking at to go to the South of France. What a perfect anniversary that would be, galavanting over the stony beaches of Southern France with his love. Louis was getting mushy, but he’d never say that exact sentence out loud. He was allowed to think it though of course.
“So my dear, with your fancy new apartment and everything, you still want to come to France with me right?” he asked, trying to sound casual but allowing a hint of hope to come into his voice. It would be easier of course with Georgie living with Lance instead of at the orphanage; there wouldn’t be any letters or permission slips needing to be filled out. But he hoped that even with a place to go that was miles better than staying at the orphanage, she’d still want to vacation with him. “Aha!” he exclaimed, catching something bright pink out of the corner of his eye. He took off, and made a leaping dive and grasped the pink egg with yellow polka dots with both hands. “Gotcha!” he shouted excitedly.

Georgie smiled at Louis when he said that she had to stick close to him –as if that was going to be a problem in the first place. Leading someone to an egg hunt and then not watching them get all the eggs would be really boring. Georgie did worry that she was going to accidentally give away the positions of the eggs by looking towards where she had hid them, but even if Louis did find their hiding spots, he wouldn’t be getting away unscathed. “Of course I’m coming to France with you!” She told him with a scoff. “If anything, I need to get out of this stupid country even more.” Georgie paused. “No offense or anything.” She sincerely hoped that Louis didn’t take offense to her calling Britain stupid, especially not when it seemed to be the country with the most drama, ever. In any case, Georgie didn’t want her mother’s guilt money, even if that guilt money did mean that she and Lance didn’t have to return to the orphanage.
That train of thought was disrupted when Louis saw one of the eggs that she had hidden. Georgie watched, amused, as Louis dived for the egg. There was a beat when nothing happened, and then, slowly, Georgie’s smile widened. The pattern on the egg was appearing on Louis’s skin – the backs of his hands were turning hot pink, and yellow polka dots were blooming like flowers on them as the color began to snake up his arm. “Maybe you should have remembered to wear gloves.” Georgie said with a giggle.

Louis couldn’t help but laugh loudly as the pink and yellow polka dots creeped up his arm. “What do you think? Is pink or yellow more my color?” he asked Georgie, striking a pose and pretending to look like a super serious model. “Why would I wear gloves? I want to look as colorful as possible,” he asked, sounding incredulous. This was Louis Weasley after all, the boy who had no shame whatsoever. “As long as nothing poisons me we’re good, and you know I’m not allergic to anything so...we should be good,” he mentioned, then wiggled his eyebrows. “Unless it’s your intention to have to give me mouth to mouth,” he suggested slyly. He stood completely still for a moment, then grabbed his girlfriend around the waist, swinging her around. “The egg dye, it must be driving me maaad!” he exclaimed, putting her down gently.
Though he was determined to find more eggs, Louis was still glad to hear Georgie still had every intention of coming to France with him and his mother that August. “Good, and I’m not offended at all - in fact my mother shares your enthusiasm for this country. Or rather, lack thereof,” he said with a snicker. His mother was a Frenchwoman through and through, and she lamented about missing her home country more often than not. “Hey…” he said suddenly, then rushed off towards the bank of the lake. “I thought so!" he said with a laugh, plucking a pure gold egg from the shallow waters and holding it aloft like a trophy.

Georgie was glad that Louis was taking the whole pink-and-yellow thing with his typical sense of humor. There were some people who would be angry beyond all belief about being changed color against their will, but Louis wasn’t one of them, which was good. Georgie might not have been the prankster in their relationship, but there was something to be said about the closeness a good joke brought. “I think yellow.” Georgie said, tapping her chin. “It brings out your eyes.” She teased. Blue and yellow were complementary colors, so the yellow spots were quite striking against the blue of his eyes. Georgie would have to remember that – maybe it would give her an excuse to force him to wear Hufflepuff clothing. “If I do poison you, I promise you it’s entirely on accident.” Georgie wouldn’t risk injuring one of her favorite people with a poisonous egg. And it would probably get her expelled from Hogwarts, since it was reckless endangerment, blah blah blah. The idea about mouth-to-mouth was a good one, though… Georgie had to stop pondering when Louis swung her around, because she was squealing in a way that definitely wasn’t conducive to ponderance. “Yes, it’s definitely the egg dye. You’re not crazy at all on your own.” She teased Louis with a grin.
Georgie was pleased to hear that Louis’s mother had her same disdain for England. Maybe that could be a way the two of them bonded. Georgie was still a little apprehensive around Louis’s family, mostly because they were everything her family wasn’t – close being the biggest thing. She didn’t have time to answer Louis before he was rushing towards the lake to fish an egg out. Georgie smiled when he held it aloft, waiting for the show to start. Unlike the previous egg, this one didn’t do anything to Louis. Instead, it began vibrating intensely, before exploding into a handful of rainbow confetti. Among the confetti was a strip of parchment. This coupon entitles you to one free kiss from the Linley of your choice. Hopefully Louis wouldn’t choose Lance, because he actually didn’t know about the coupon, and that would be awkward…

Louis held the certificate in his hands, contemplating it for a few moments. One free kiss from the Linley of his choice? Well, it wouldn’t be Louis without throwing a little spice in there. So he straightened, trying to put on a misty, longing look on his face. “Georgie, do you know where your brother is?” he asked, trying and succeeding to sound breathless. He began to walk like he was floating on air up from the lake, coming close to Georgiana but looking like he was going to completely bypass her to start his search for Lance. Just as he passed by, without looking, Louis grabbed her by the waist and dipped her low before planting a long, passionate kiss on her lips. “I choose you Georgiana Linley, today, tomorrow and every day as long as you’ll have me,” he said when they finally broke apart, actually breathless this time. He lifted her back up with ease and set her back on the ground before grabbing her hand, entwining his fingers with hers. “Just promise I don’t have to have a coupon EVERY time I want to kiss you, otherwise I’m going to just multiply this one right now,” he joked with a wink.
“Onwards the next egg!” he proclaimed, pointing forward and marching in the direction of the courtyard. He was curious how many eggs in total Georgie had enchanted for him to find, but he was having too much fun to think about anything else at the moment. He spotted a turquoise and purple chevron patterned egg resting on its side under one of the benches. “Keep your voice low Georgie, we’ve got a wild one there,” he whispered dramatically, like that animal hunter he’d seen on a television program he’d watched with his Muggle friend a few times. He tiptoed closer to the egg, before letting go of his girlfriends hand and doing an army roll under the bench to snatch the egg. “Number three! Victory is mine!” he bellowed triumphantly from under the bench.

Georgie pulled a face at Louis when he asked her where her brother was. Even if she wasn’t straight, she was pretty sure that her brother was, so even if Louis managed to find Lance, she didn’t think that his advances would be appreciated. Louis all but floated up from the lake, looking as if he was about to ignore her completely – rude! – before correcting his course at the last minute to dip her and kiss her. Yup, there was the Louis that she knew. Normally Georgie didn’t like how short she was, but it was rather amusing when it came to her boyfriend – if she was bigger than it would be difficult for him to do things like spin her and dip her, and considering those were two of her favorite things to do. Louis then proceeded to say that he chose her, today and the next day and every day thereafter, and Georgie looked away, blushing furiously. “Don’t say that too loud, or I might think you’re serious.” She muttered. Even after everything they had been through together, it was still sometimes hard for Georgie to get it through her skull (which even she would admit was rather thick) that Louis wanted to be with her, and only her. “Nope, you only have to use a coupon this one time.” She told him. She enjoyed kissing Louis just as much as he enjoyed kissing her, so rationing those kisses would be just as much a punishment for Georgie as it was for her boyfriend.
Louis directed them both to finish the egg hunt, and Georgie smiled a bit before following him. Louis spotted another egg, one that was turquoise and purple. Georgie had to admit, one of her favorite things about Easter eggs was how ridiculous they were colored. Louis told her to keep her voice low, and Georgie snorted. “They don’t have ears.” She wasn’t that good at charms. Louis did some ridiculous stunt so that he could grab the egg in one fell swoop, and Georgie clapped her hands in delight when he did, grabbing the egg. This one was the most amusing of the eggs she had charmed – it caused nose hairs to grow at an alarming rate. “Not quite victory yet, sweet prince. There’s still one more egg left.” Georgie said with a smile. The last egg was the only one that wasn’t charmed to move or do anything to the finder – and it was also, she thought, the easiest to find, since it was iridescent rainbow, and those tended to stand out from grass.

Louis kissed the side of her forehead gently. “Believe it Georgiana Linley, I don’t take my romantic proclamations lightly,” he told her with a grin. He knew that he had a reputation of being a bit of a daredevil prankster, someone who didn’t take himself too seriously. Mostly, that was true; Louis did well enough in his classes, particularly the ones he liked, but he never stressed too much about studying, and had had a very...whatever happens, happens attitude towards his OWL examinations last year while most of his fellow students suffered nervous breakdowns. When it came to Georgie however, Louis was completely serious. They had always been friends since the beginning of her schooling; she had a rebellious streak to her as well. Their upbringings had been radically different, as she had been lead to believe her parents had died when she was ten, while Louis was still living with two happily married, loving parents. Perhaps it was being raised in a household of mainly girls, since his dad had been away on Cursebreaking raids a lot of the time, but Louis had realized he had felt something more for Georgiana than just friendship long before their relationship turned romantic. They were almost a year in, and his feelings for her hadn’t changed; if anything he had fallen even more in love with her if that was even possible. There had been a lot of trials for them this year, and Louis had tried his hardest to be the steadfast, sturdy pole Georgie could grip to when she felt like the world was tilting, threatening to send her over the edge. He wanted her to know he wasn’t planning on going anywhere any time soon; he thought she knew that, but it never hurt to clarify it every once in awhile.
Louis felt an itch in his nose as he grasped the egg and gasped as he felt the hair in his nose shootout down past his mouth towards his grin. He turned towards his girlfriend, striking a pose. “What d’you think, should I keep the mustache?” he asked, chuckling. He pulled out his wand. “Finite,” he incanted, causing the hair to stop growing. With another wave of his wand the nosehairs fell out of his nose onto the floor, and he swept them away with a final swish. “Onto the last egg then my love,” he said, taking her hand as he led her around the grounds. She seemed eager for him to find this last egg, so he had no idea what on earth to expect. Finally, he saw something sparkling near the rocks of the old Caretakers Hut. Dragging Georgie along, Louis arrived to see the final egg. He looked over at the Hufflepuff questioningly before picking it up, holding his breath in anticipation for what came next.

Georgie smiled a little when Louis said that he didn’t take his romantic proclamations lightly. Of course he didn’t – Louis was a good person, and Georgie believed that good people didn’t play with the hearts of others, especially when they knew those hearts to be as fragile as Georgie’s was. Beyond that, Louis loved her, and it was difficult to hurt someone that you loved. Georgie tried not to think too much about her relationship with Louis, if she was honest. When she thought too much, she ended up talking herself out of things, and talking herself out of being with Louis would be disastrous.
Georgie wrinkled her nose at Louis when he asked her if he ought to keep the moustache. “I think the pink and yellow suited you better.” She teased. It was weird to think of Louis with facial hair, since he was always clean-shaven, but apparently just about every teenage boy felt the need to try to grow a beard or moustache at least once, if only to prove that he could. Luckily for her, Louis cast finite on the charm that the egg had put upon him, causing his nose hair to stop growing and fall off, making him kissable once again.
The final egg of the hunt had made its way far across the ground, skirting on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, near the caretaker’s hut. Georgie hadn’t thought that any of the eggs would get that far, so she hadn’t cast anything on them to keep them out of the forest – it was a good thing that Louis had been rather speedy in his egg finding. Georgie obviously wasn’t as adept at hiding eggs as she had believed herself to be. Louis picked up the last egg, the rainbow one, and as soon as he touched it, a rainbow burst forth from it, arcing into the sky. If anyone happened to be looking from the castle, they would definitely see the rainbow, though it dissipated quickly in a fountain of golden sparkles. The sparkles settled onto the ground, forming a heart with an L and a G within it. Georgie had spent forever working on the charms to get that right, and she looked at Louis hopefully, hoping for his approval.
