Louis watched the egg intently as he touched it, automatically taking a step back as it burst open from his touch. His hand entwined with Georgie’s as a true rainbow arched high into the sky, making him curious if there was anyone gazing longingly out the window. He hoped they found the site to be as spectacular as he did; he wondered how long it had taken his girlfriend to perfect this Charm. It was obviously high in skill level, and he was very proud - she would get an O on her OWL for certain. As the rainbow dissipated, it settled with gold sparkles down onto the ground, forming a heart with an L and G. For Louis and Georgie. Another spectacular display of charmwork - he had no idea how long Georgie had worked on this for him, but it obviously had taken time and effort. “Georgie…” he said, for once in his life temporarily at a loss for words. So instead of talking, he turned to face his girlfriend. Tilting her chin towards his with his fingers, he lowered his head down so his lips could meet hers. They stayed there and time felt like it completely stopped. How did Louis get so lucky in the girlfriend department?
When they finally broke apart, Louis rested his forehead against hers with a small smile. “I love you Georgie,” he said quietly. He didn’t know how many times he had said this to the Hufflepuff; he wasn’t one to throw around words like that however. When he said he loved someone, he meant it with all his heart. Having Georgie in his life had always been a good thing, but being her boyfriend had made him grow as a better person, a better man. He hoped she saw him as a pillar to lean on, especially with all the cureballs life threw at her this past year. “I can’t wait for you to come to France with me,” he murmured after a few beats of time had passed. He was dying to show her everything he loved about his mothers’ side of the family.

Georgie didn’t think it was ever possible to make a Weasley speechless, let alone her boyfriend. He always seemed to have something to say, a wisecrack or a sweet comment or something. Her name, followed by silence, was a little unnerving. Georgie knew it wasn’t the bad kind of silence where she needed to worried it was going to be followed by awful news (‘Georgie… I just realized I hate you’ was pretty high up on her list of phrases that inhabited her nightmares), but she hadn’t a clue what was going to be in the gap instead. It couldn’t have been longer than a second or two of fear before Louis tilted her chin up so that he could kiss her, but all the tension that had wound up in Georgie released at once, and she tried not to grip Louis too hard as she kissed him. Bruising her boyfriend was not a good thing to do.
Louis rested his forehead against hers, and after his next words, it was Georgie that was rendered speechless. She could count the number of people who had ever loved her on one hand – her mother, her father, her brother, and now, Louis. Considering that half of those people weren’t in her life anymore, Georgie was rightly afraid of what love could mean. He could love her, but that didn’t mean that he was going to stay. Sometimes loving meant leaving, and Georgie didn’t want to think about a life where Louis left. She was still searching for something, anything to say to express that she loved him too, but she was still terrified, when Louis spoke again. France. She could talk about France a lot easier than she could talk about feelings. “I can’t wait for France, either.” Georgie mumbled, acutely aware of everything that she hadn’t said. “Do you want to go inside?” She asked, taking a step back from Louis so they weren’t so suffocatingly close. The egg hunt was done, which meant they didn’t have any more business on the grounds, anyways.

Louis smiled at her; he knew saying I love you was a big step in their relationship, but he had been feeling this way since the New Year. Really, since the moment she first kissed him if he was honest with himself. Seeing the way she had reacted to his Christmas surprise with all her childhood traditions mixed with English ones made Louis realize that the love was reciprocated, but he had always deep down known he would be the first to verbally express it. Now that he had, Georgie could take as much time as she needed to to say it back. She had been burned so many times by her parents; the thought of how they had ripped apart her heart over the years made Louis feel a burning anger inside. He couldn’t blame Georgie for not being able to say it back immediately, and he wouldn’t want her to say it before she was ready. He hoped however, that their France trip would bring them even closer together - their first anniversary would fall during the time they were there, and he had a few surprises up his sleeve. He was pretty good at them, if he did say so himself. Louis’ smile faded only slightly when Georgie took a step away from him, but nodded at the idea of going inside. It was rather chilly out here anyway. “Yeah, let’s see what the kitchens can whip up for us, I’m starving,” he agreed, patting his stomach with a laugh. Typical Louis, always thinking with his stomach. Except for the times he thought with his heart. END THREAD
