Jess left the Daily Prophet building right as work ended, a bright smile on her face. Today she got off at four o'clock and she was so excited to have the afternoon for herself, even though she really didn't know what she wanted to do with her extra time. She walked down the street, cheerily greeting the people she knew as she tried to make a decision. She could go into any of the shops, but she really didn't need anything from any of them. She went shopping just the other day, after all. She paused in the middle of the street, looking around curiously. She wanted to do something different and fun ... but what? And should she do it alone or find a partner in crime to do it with her? Glancing around, she saw a stranger that she didn't know. "Pssst! Hey you!" She whispered, a wide grin on her face. "Come here!" She gestured for the guy to approach her, but wasn't quite sure if he would.

Lucas had explored Hogsmead and Diagon Alley and was getting a little sick of both, to be honest. There was only so much to be done and seen in any place and only so many times the American Man could see them before he got sick of seeing them. He needed a change of pace. And, since he had recently taken an apartment in muggle London, he thought it best to explore the neighborhood a little. London was a very beautiful town, very different that Myrtle Beach, but not really comparable. Both were beautiful, both had their roots in history, but London seemed just a little more magical. And maybe because it was the hub for Wizarding magic. He was sure big American cities like New York would have felt that way too. Or maybe it was simply and architecture around the city. Either way, the Wampus was in awe.
Pssst! Hey you! Luke heard from around him, he turned around to see who it was, a young blonde woman who seemed to be looking right at him. He pointed to himself and raised his eyebrows as if asking 'are you talking to me?' He didn't know this woman. He was pretty sure that he had never seen her before. Come here! The woman insisted. And who was he to turn down an invitation from such a lovely woman. Plus, as a magical man who had been sorted into the warrior house, Luke wasn't really afraid so much as confused. "Yes?" he asked, approaching her like she had instructed.

The guy definitely seemed confused when she started whispering at him, giving her a look that made her almost positive that he thought she was crazy. Oh well. She nodded at his gesture and hesitation in approaching, trying to non-verbally convince him. He probably thought she was even crazier now. Maybe she was. After all, she was just about to ask him to help her come up with some type of adventure and join her on it, so the thought of her being crazy wasn't far off the mark. Jess didn't think that was a bad thing, as long as she could get rid of the boredom and have a bit of fun. While she didn't know anything about this guy, he looked like someone who knew how to have fun, though she didn't know why she thought that.
To Jess' surprise, the guy actually came over! Her smile widened as he got closer and she shrugged at him a little. "Hi, I'm Jess." She started. There, that was almost normal. Now for the crazy. "I'm bored and was looking for someone to have an adventure with. You game?" She looked up at him and waited for a response, noticing that he was definitely a pretty handsome guy, which she hadn't noticed when he was farther away. This could turn out to be a lot of fun, if he was interested, of course.

Her name was Jess. And she was looking for someone to have an adventure with. That easily. She was so open and honest with him, a completely stranger. She spoke to him like they had known each other for years and years and were best friends. Casual and confident, with a smile on her face and her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Sure! Name's Luke." he told her with a laugh. "So what exactly are we doing here?" he asked looking around. They were in the middle of muggle London. For all he knew, she was a muggle. For all she knew, he was a muggle. What could she have in mind? What kind of adventure would be both fun, muggle friendly and wouldn't end with their arrest? He wasn't sure how intense the British police were.

He definitely probably thought she was crazy. Some girl he'd never spoken to was asking him to join her in some type of an adventure, hardly knowing him at all. Heck, Jess didn't even know if he was a muggle or not. He probably was. Oh well, this could still be fun, which was exactly what she was going for. "Nice to meet you Luke," Jess replied, glad that he wasn't just walking away. She shrugged at his question. "I hadn't quite decided yet. Actually, I'm struggling to come up with any decent ideas." Jess crinkled her nose at him. Normally she was pretty good at making decisions, but one really good way to get to know someone was by letting them take the lead, so maybe she'd just play along with him for a bit and have some fun ... or maybe she'd end up making suggestions. "Do you have any?" She asked, smiling up at him hopefully. She was extremely curious to see what kind of guy he was. Of course, if she didn't like it, she could always hex him and then obliviate him or something. Unless he was a wizard (which was highly unlikely from her point of view), Jess didn't really have anything to fear from him.

She didn’t know what they were doing. She had no plan what so ever. She had gotten as far as calling over a random stranger in London and had gotten him to accept her invitation to go on an adventure but she didn’t even know what she wanted to do? He had expected that she’d at least have a basic game plan for them to work off of. He didn’t know her, he didn’t really have any idea what being adventurous was in London. Just walking around the city was an adventure to him since he hadn’t quite explored it all yet. “Well what kind of adventure are you looking to have? Do you want to explore? Try a new place? Jump in a pond?” he asked with a laugh, humoring her, at least for now.

He seemed curious, or skeptical or something and Jess wasn't particularly surprised. Asking a random person to go on an adventure with her before figuring out what she wanted to do wasn't a particularly common thing for anyone to do. Jess grinned at him when he started giving some ideas and suggestions for what they could do. "Or we could do all three," she said with a casual shrug. "Find a pond neither of us have been to before, jump in it and explore?" She giggled a little, not really knowing what he would think of that. If he didn't like the idea he probably wouldn't want to do something with her, because that actually sounded quite fun. Then again, he did suggest it, so was it so hard to think that he might be interested in doing it? Jess wasn't exactly sure. "Sorry, I know this is all a bit random. I hope you don't think I'm too crazy," she gave a soft laugh.

She suggested that they mix everything that he suggested together. She said that they should find a pond that neither of them had been in, jump in it and explore. “Well, that’d be pretty easy, I’ve never jumped into any ponds on this continent.” he admitted. It was something to cross off his bucket list, he guessed. Assuming that they actually went through with it. “So find one that you’ve never been in and let’s do it.” he agreed. Why not? It wasn’t as if anyone knew him yet. He had no reputation to protect or worry about. Jumping into a pond with a stranger seemed like fun and as long as no muggle police officer got mad at them, he really couldn’t see the harm in something so juvenile. She insisted that he must think she was crazy. He nodded. “Oh, I do. But I’m going along with it, so I must be crazy too then.” he shrugged with a smirk.

She smiled when he said that he'd never jumped in ponds on this continent. So ... how long had he been here, she couldn't help but wonder? Maybe she'd ask in a bit. "I haven't done a lot of pond-jumping, so I think this is going to turn out to be fairly easy," Jess agreed with a bit of a laugh. She nodded, "Alright, now to begin the exploring part so I can find one," she said, stifling a giggle. Why was she laughing so much tonight? She was normally a bit more composed than this. At his comment that he must be crazy as well she grinned. "At least I'm in good company then. Let's go this way!" She pointed and started marching in a direction, really not knowing where they would need to go in order to find a pond. That was fine. On the way she could get to know him. "So Luke, tell me about yourself," she left the suggestion open, not wanting to ask any questions that might make him feel uncomfortable.

She told him that she hadn’t done much pond jumping herself and thus finding one wouldn’t be too difficult. He didn’t know London, but he wasn’t all that afraid of getting lost. This would be a good chance to explore the city and, when they were finished with their adventure, he could sneak off and find a place to apparate away from and get back to the alley. While they walked she asked him to tell her about himself. Interesting. He began to wonder what he could tell her without giving away that he was a wizard, as far as he knew, she was a muggle. Or was just hanging out in London like he had been, but, he currently had no way to know and really no reason to suspect that she was a witch. “Uh, well obviously I’m American, i’m from a state called South Carolina on the East Coast of the country. I’ve been here since the 1st of April. And I work as a bartender.” he shrugged. That was the gist of his story, the quick version at least. “What about you, do you normally convince strangers to go on an adventure with you?” he asked, teasing a little.

Jess nodded as the guy started to explain a little about himself, telling her where he was from, how long he'd been here and what he was doing now. Then he asked about her and Jess started to blush a bit. "No," she said, her tone slightly defensive. "I've actually never done anything like this before, believe it or not." She also didn't know if she'd ever do something like this again. She wasn't sure if it was too awkward or not. After all, she didn't even know if this guy was a muggle or a wizard. He was close enough to Diagon Alley that he might be ... but how was she supposed to know for sure? "I'm an intern for a newspaper," she told him after a few seconds. "I want to be a writer someday, but you have to start somewhere, right?" She looked down the street. "Let's try going this way," she suggested, feeling more ridiculous by the minute. Who walked up to a stranger and asked them to jump into a pond with them? Apparently just idiots like her. Oh well. Too late to back out now, especially since she started the whole thing.

The woman by his side insisted that she had never done anything like this before. “You know, I believe that. But I must say, you seem to be fairly confident about the whole thing.” he teased a little, not in a mean or malicious way, in a bit of a flirty way, actually. Luke had always been a bit of a flirt, well, he was friendly at least, and sometimes that turned into a bit of flirty conversation. Luke was someone who liked people, and he liked having interactions with them, sometimes romantic, albeit casual ones. She was an intern for a newspaper and wanted to be a write someday. He nodded. “So, do you want to be a journalist then? Or is journalism just the career plan until you write the next Best Selling Novel?” he asked. Luke didn’t necessarily know what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Bartending wasn’t it. He was just beginning to think about the rest of his life when he learned that he had a life with his biological family before the life he knew as his own. He hadn’t figured out his ideal career yet. He wasn’t sure when he would. Likely, after he had done what he came here to do.

Jess couldn't help but chuckle when Luke started talking about how confident she seemed. "Fake it 'til you make it," she said with a teasing shrug and a wink as she continued walking a little. He was cute and easy to talk to. A part of her felt a little disappointed that she would probably never run into him again, but then again it wasn't like Jess was looking for a relationship with anyone right now. She was focused on her work, on getting that job at the Daily Prophet once her time as an intern was up at the end of the summer. At his next question she shrugged again. "Yes, for now I want to be a sports journalist, but I think it would be cool if I could write a novel someday. Just probably not in the near future. I'm not focused enough for that right now." Jess laughed. Honestly, at the moment she felt like her life was all over the place, and she was too. A bit scatterbrained, but not necessarily in a bad way. "What do you want to do with your life?" She asked curiously, smiling as she asked the question. "Other than bar-tending," she added, unable to resist teasing the stranger.

Fake it ‘till you make it, indeed. Luke appreciated that mentality and agreed with it. It was always easier, at least to him, to fake confidence even in situations where he wasn’t at all confident. If he was lost in the town, he would never admit that he was lost, that could get him into some dangerous situations. He always liked to act like he was alright and figure his problems out on his own. London had been a pretty easy city to navigate through, this far. There were signs and maps and labels everywhere and the tube as quite easy to use too, not to mention the fact that he could just apperate most places, but he had to know where they were in order to apperate there. So, finding the grocery store nearest his apartment had been crucial. She mentioned that she wanted to go into sports journalism and maybe write a novel someday. “You like sports? You play any? I had a bit of a talent for Quadpot back in school.” he admitted, hoping the British knew about the sport. She turned the question on him and he shrugged. “I really don’t know. I wannah have a family someday, but I’m not sure what I want to do for a career yet exactly.” he admitted. He knew he was past the age of needing to know, but he didn’t want to settle. He wanted to be sure before he took a career.

He seemed to agree with her mentality, though he didn't say anything for or against it. At least, if he disagreed he would have said something, right? Jess wasn't entirely sure, but she thought that he would. She grinned when he seemed to get interested in her comment about sports. "I love sports!" Jess exclaimed enthusiastically. She shrugged, "I played some sports when I was younger, but I stopped before I got to the University. I graduated and figured I could write about sports since I know them so well." Then he mentioned Quadpot and her smile widened. He was a wizard. She debated pretending to be a muggle and not knowing what Quadpot was, but then decided that would be too mean. "I played Quidditch. I've heard it's similar to Quadpot, but I don't really know the rules of your game," Jess admitted, trying to be subtle about the fact that she was a witch. She smiled when he talked about a family someday but not knowing what career he wanted. "That makes sense. Everyone expects young adults to know exactly what we want to do right when we graduate, but it doesn't always work that way." She shrugged, trying to show that she kind of understood.
