It had been nearly two months since Ophelia had miscarried her and Dakota’s baby daughter, and almost six weeks since he had left on his quest to ‘find himself’, or something like that. Ophelia had reveled in the time she had spent to herself if she was completely honest. She had taken a month off of work for her recovery, something she was incredibly fortunate to have available to her, though in part she knew it was because she worked at Saint Mungo’s, where if anyone could understand what she went through, they worked there. Her brother and father had been around just enough to remind Ophie that though she had suffered, her family would always be there to pick her back up. She had grown closer to her roommate Clodagh too, and Imogen of course was a steadfast shoulder to lean on when she was feeling sad. This particular evening was warmer than usual for London April weather, and it struck Ophelia that, because she was no longer pregnant, she could allow herself to go out for a drink. Clodagh of course would not be able to join her due to her...predicament, and Imogen was in the throes of the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament, so Ophie would have to go at it alone. Truth be told, she was more than a little scared; she hadn’t been out in so long, she was worried she forgot how to have a good time. She dressed herself in a long sleeved burgundy dress with a plunging neckline, and let her brown hair fall past her shoulders in perfectly coiffed natural waves. She had to admit, since she had lost the baby weight by well, not really eating, she looked pretty good. Almost too thin though, she’d have to fix that. With one final glance in the mirror, Ophelia grabbed her purse and headed out. As she stopped on her front step, Ophelia froze. Where was she even going to go? She closed her eyes, inhaled deeply, and let the breath out slowly. It smelled like spring, like the cherry blossoms that were flowering on the branches nearby. With a small smile, Ophelia realized exactly where she wanted to go. She went back into the house and Apparated into a back alleyway close to her destination. She glanced around her, then walked out, pulling her leather jacket closer to her as she saw the Churchill Arms in front of her. She walked up the steps and pushed her way in. “Gin and tonic please,” she requested of the bartender as she took a seat. This was a nice, quiet place to start having a social life again. She thanked the bartender and took a small sip of her drink, pleased to find it was as good as ever. Taking another sip, she looked around, wondering if any of her Muggle friends she hadn’t seen in some time would venture inside the pub. mina pandora oliveira ooc: this is the bar!

Mina turned her key in the lock of the bookstore door, a small click and fissure of magic told her that it was all set. Flourish & Blotts was locked up for the night and that meant she was officially off the clock. Her stomach rumbled as she strolled down the back alley that led to the backdoor of the shop, the realization that wanting to grab a drink also meant that she would need to buy dinner as well. It was either drinking on an empty stomach or coughing up the money to get food. There was nothing at home that really interested her, and since Callisto wasn’t there tonight, that meant there wouldn’t be left overs for her to rummage through. Rifling through her small handbag to see how much muggle money she had on her, Mina pulled an even smaller money clip from inside and smiled contently. The amount there meant she could get dinner and a drink or two before having to get more money converted over. That was perfect for tonight.
Snapping away from Diagon Alley with a blink of an eye, she Apparated into another desolate alleyway, though this one was closer to the location of the bar she was thinking of stopping at. She wanted something with a kick to it, and Churchill Arms apparently had a Thai menu that was to die for. That worked for her. Strolling out of the alley and down the street, Mina passed through the muggle crowds unnoticed. Choosing to work in casual clothes that befit a muggle always paid off when she went out afterwards. Robes were never her thing anyways, and it wasn’t like Ursula was a tough boss on those kinds of things. Whatever made her the most comfortable was what was allowed in the shop. Trying to be formal only caused the stuffy crowd to show up more often, and for them to ask their pointless questions on the difference between a new edition of a potions book and the previous one. How was she supposed to know those kinds of things? Suffice to say, being in a relaxing work space with an equally relaxed dress code fit her perfectly, so there was never an argument about it. Plus it saved time from having to go home between work and partying. That was the most important part for her.
With another stomach grumble, Mina picked up her pace until she made it to the pub. It was still going to be another twenty minutes or so before she could eat once her order was in. Wasting that time taking a leisurely stroll was not what she wanted to do right now. A few minutes later, the pub was in sight, and Mina practically sprinted inside. There was a decent crowd inside, but nothing she couldn’t handle. Making her way towards the bar to cop a seat and order, she spotted a familiar looking back of a head: Ophelia. Mina didn’t really need to see the face of the woman at all to know who it was. She had seen it plenty of times before, trailing behind while accompanying her brother and Ophelia, or even just stopping by the house. Suddenly she was apprehensive about going up to the bar and interacting with the other woman. Things hadn’t exactly ended in the best way possible, and her brother had skipped town. Everyone could repeat what he had told him, but Mina knew that wasn’t true. He couldn’t handle the loss of the baby and ran away, unsure of how to deal with the aftermath; she had done that herself plenty of times, and could spot it from a mile away. That wasn’t fair for Ophelia at all.
A bump from another bar patron sent Mina forward, and her feet carried her the rest of the way to the bar, and right up to Ophelia. She had learned to accept her over the last few months, so there was no reason for her to be a stranger, especially now. Taking the seat next to the other woman, Mina tapped her shoulder. “Been a little while, hasn’t it?”

Ophelia jumped at the tap, but recognized the voice immediately. “Mina,” she greeted, giving the other woman a small smile before taking another sip of her drink. “It has been a while. I’ve….been busy,” she agreed, fibbing a little at the end. She had just gone back to work a little over a week ago, and had spent the majority of her paid ‘maternity leave’ moping around the house. She had gone out a few times, including a memorable spa visit with Clodagh, but other than that she had become a real homebody. The truth of the matter was she had forgotten how to interact with other people. Just a few months prior she had been pregnant with one of her best friends - and favorite lovers - baby, excited to see what kind of life they could have together. She could remember excitedly telling the friends she ran into in the street about her due date and how she wouldn’t find out the gender, how they were setting up a nursery in both hers and Koda’s places. Then suddenly it was all over. No baby, and no Dakota. Ophelia wanted to scream whenever someone fixed her with a pitiful or sympathetic stare; yes, she had miscarried and her baby daddy had run off, but there was more to her than just that! At least, that was what she had finally realized earlier that day after a conversation with a coworker, and that was what had led her to the Churchill Arms. “I was just about to order some food, if you care to join?” she suggested. She looked and saw that though both seats next to her were taken, there was a seat two down, so she tapped the shoulder of the gentleman next to her. “Excuse me, but would you be so kind as to scoot down a seat so my friend could sit with me?” she asked sweetly, giving him a smile. He nodded and scooted down immediately, freeing the seat up for Mina to sit in. Ophelia patted the seat twice and slid a menu in front of the table setting. “I’m feeling Pad Thai tonight,” she commented out loud, absent mindedly picking up her drink and draining it. The bartender immediately set a full glass of her gin and tonic. “You know, I don’t think we’ve ever drank together Mina. Strange, I think you would have liked me more if we’d gone out,” Ophelia commented, taking a long sip of her second drink. mina pandora oliveira

She had been busy. That was…good? Was it bad? Mina wasn’t sure by the way Ophelia had responded. There was the potential for positivity in that statement, but the pause also made it sound so sad. Obviously there was more of that because of everything that had happened…“That’s…good. Being busy is good.” That couldn’t have come out any more awkward than it had. It was the thought that count though, right? She knew that when she was feeling down, or hungover, the best thing to fix that was having something to do. Comparing either of those to a miscarriage had its own level of messed up-ness, but that was the only way she could rationalize it in her head.
The next growl that came from her stomach was almost perfectly timed with Ophelia asking her if she wanted to join her for food. “Must be fate. That’s what I’m here for,” she smiled, taking the seat that opened up for her. That and getting a few drinks into her before moving on to the next thing. Food was more important right now though, seeing as her body was literally screaming at her to put something in her stomach. “How is it here? Normally I go for the cheap place up the street a ways,” Mina asked. Pad Thai had a funny way of sometimes working perfectly with her alcohol intake, and on other days, absolutely destroying her insides the following morning. She wasn’t planning on getting completely sloshed just yet, so it seemed reasonable to get a meal she actually enjoyed.
Mina ordered a beer as the bartender refilled Ophelia’s drink. She needed that right about now. Taking her own long sip as Ophelia continued to talk, Mina realized that her companion was right. They never had gone drinking together. Having a baby kind of did that though. “At least not that we can both remember,” she joked. That thought alone was scary. There were enough times spent blacked out, she didn’t really need any more. Ophelia went on still, explaining that she figured they would have gotten along better had they gone out more. That stung a little. Mina knew she was the root of that, having been stubborn about the whole baby thing. Taking another long sip of her beer, she set it down lightly. “I like you Ophelia. I uh...I wasn’t ready for him to grow up and have his own family,” she said quietly, spinning her beer bottle around so that the ring of perspiration grew. Mina knew that her interactions with Ophelia had been selfish. She hadn’t wanted her brother to abandon her. Obviously none of that made any sense, since he wouldn’t actually abandon his own family, but that was what was going through her head at the time. “So I’m sorry if I made it hard on you…”

Ophelia chuckled quietly. “Busy is good,” she agreed. Work keeping her busy kept her mind off of the tragic events of the past two months, which she vastly preferred to sitting around wallowing in her own sorrow. She was finally starting to feel a little bit more like herself; she was smiling more, she had made a few outings in public not dressed like a homeless person. She had even been to the spa with her roommate Clodagh and gotten some much needed pampering. “My brother and his girlfriend are discussing getting a puppy; I have a cat and an owl, so unfortunately my home is a bit cramped for one,” she commented randomly. She remembered Minas’ dog Titania and how she’d seemed to have taken a liking to Ophelia whenever she was over. “Their argument currently is what size to get. Personally, I’m rooting for big,” she said, smiling a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. She missed the way Dakota’s dogs curled up to her growing belly as she slept; they had given her a comfort, a safety that they were there for her. And now she didn’t know where they were; she assumed Dakota had taken them with him when he went away, but regardless she was likely to never see them again. “The food here is really good, it was surprising since this used to be more of an English pub fare, but they have an excellent chef,” Ophelia commented, inclining her head with a slight smile towards the kitchen doors. “How is Titania?” she asked, taking another swig of her drink so she finished it off. She knew she was two in on an empty stomach, but at the present moment she really didn’t care. “Another,” she requested, her voice still strong but with a hint of someone who needed food in her stomach and soon. As if answering a prayer, Ophelia’s food order came out and was set in front of her. She inhaled deeply, closing her eyes with happiness. “Smells delicious,” she said, swirling the noodles around her fork and taking a large bite. A bit too large perhaps, as some of the sauce got onto her chin. “Oops,” she chuckled, dabbing at her chin before reaching for her drink. As she took a sip, Mina spoke up again, and Ophelias’ fork froze hovering over Pad Thai as she turned her head to face the other girl. She was more than a little surprised at the apologetic tone, and the fact that Mina actually liked her - she had not really gotten that impression. After Mina was finished, Ophelia gently set down her fork and opened up her arms. “Mina, thank you,” she said, quickly hugging the girl before pulling back. She was much more of a hugger than most people, and she didn’t want to make her too uncomfortable. She went back to her Pad Thai and ate in silence for a few minutes, stealing a few sips of her drink before finishing it off. The bartender went to make her another and she held up her hand. Taking a breath, she turned to Mina with a small smile. “Your choice, what should I have next?” she asked, cocking her head to one side. This could make things interesting. "I have to run to the loo first though, so surprise me!" she added, hopping off her stool, stilled herself for a moment then hurried off to the bathroom. mina pandora oliveira

So the food was good. That was a positive sign for later. While she typically strayed from the more expensive pubs when it came to food (her wallet thanking her profusely), there was an undeniable fact that she came away feeling better when quality food was digested over cheap stuff. She liked to think that her stomach could handle anything, especially after her escapades across the US over the last year and a half, but every now and then something got her. Today would be fine though if she ended up going too far with the drinking. Whatever that even meant in the first place. She was still trying to figure out where the line was drawn: stupidly shitfaced or black-out drunk? Callisto would say both. The funny part was that her sister ended up drinking more during the weekdays combined than Mina could between Friday and Saturday. Who was the real alcoholic here? Ophelia continued on about her brother possibly getting a dog. That was always one way to win Mina’s heart over in a conversation. “Bigger is better,” she commented as she took a sip of her drink. “Mostly because they’re cuddly and less likely to be yappy. I hate those little rat-dogs,” she shivered just at the mention of them. It switched to Titania, her Akita. That dog was…untamable. Wild. Obstinate. “Oh she’s just great,” Mina said sarcastically. “Still being a brat. I’m hoping it’s just that teenage stage some dogs get.” Her puffball of a dog was ridiculous most of the time. At least the beast was fine when Mina dragged it over to her brother’s house. All the pent up energy was released playing around with his two dogs. Now that they were gone with him, it was all up to Mina to walk it all off. That was basically impossible. “Callisto says it’s like taking care of two children. I think it’s rude to call Titania a child still,” Mina let out a small laugh at her own self-deprecation. The dog’s attitude towards everything was one of the few things that Mina agreed upon with her sister. Their food arrived as she was talking about Titania, and Mina effortlessly pushed her drink off to the side to make room for the plate. This was far more important right now than drinking. Saying that aloud would probably make Callisto roll in her metaphorical grave. She thought that her heartfelt statement would possibly go unanswered, but it didn’t. Instead she got a hug, and all Mina managed was a nod of her head to acknowledge it. While her brother was still the final perpetrator in all of this, she was still to blame for a good portion of what occurred before it all went down. Looking back on everything now really made her look like an asshole. Not that she didn’t already know that. Staring down at her plate, the fork in her hand still hovering above the untouched food, Mina opted to finish her drink off quickly. That was better than feeling everything that had just gone down. Setting the empty drink down, she finally started eating as well. Silence continued to reign supreme until Ophelia waved off the bartender and told Mina to pick the next drink for her while she used the toilet. That was a lot of trust placed in her hands. Most of the drinks she consumed her beer and shots – whatever got her messed up the fastest. Trying to think back on mixed drinks she had while in America, she got the bartender’s attention and order two El Presidentes. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it had rum in it, and rum had never failed her before.

Ophelia snorted at Mina’s rat dog comment. “I feel the exact same way, though to their faces I’ll be sweet and cuddly,” she admitted as she sat back in her stool, adjusting it slightly so her feet rested on the bar near the base of the counter. “But if you tell anyone I’ll deny it,” she added. Ophelia cocked her head to one side as Mina explained how Titania was being a brat. In her experience with the white ball of fluff, Titania had been cuddly and well-behaved. Perhaps she just was more wild around her owner, because her owner was more wild herself. She wasn’t about to vocalize this thought though; they were actually getting along for once and she didn’t want to damage that. She giggled at Callisto’s comment, taking note that Mina did not include herself as not a child. “Aw, Mina you’re not a child! You’re twenty years old and legal to drink!” she exclaimed. She examined the drink in front of her that Mina had ordered. She opened her mouth, about to ask what was in it but remembered that tonight was all about the unexpected. She had been pregnant nearly seven months before losing her child, and in that time the fun, wild Ophelia Mina had never known had been lost to everyone, including herself. No more though; she was ready to feel fun, wild and free. And Mina was the exact person to help her with that. “Cheers” she said, clinking glasses with the young woman before taking a large gulp of her drink. She coughed slightly, and tasted rum on her tongue, with the hints of orange and vermouth. “I’ve never had this before, but whatever it is it’s delicious,” she declared, and downed the rest of the drink before smacking her lips. “Another!” she cried, looking over at Mina with a wild grin. “After this drink let’s settle up and go somewhere else,” she said, then patted her hands to her thighs with excitement. “Ooooh let’s go dancing! It’s been ages since I last went dancing,” she wheedled. She was certainly beginning to feel the effects of alcohol go to her head, but it wasn’t a bad thing. She felt loose, happy, giddy almost, which she hadn’t felt in almost two months. mina pandora oliveira

“Don’t get me wrong, a dog is a dog,” she responded quickly. “I just don’t want to have one laying on me, or have to take care of something that small. To be honest, I’m afraid I’ll crush it when I stumble home after a night out. At least Titania can hold her own against me.” Mina recalled attempting to teach her dog how to carry her if she laid over her, but it never actually worked. The idea had been to get the fluff to learn how to lead her from the front door of the apartment to her room. The biggest obstacle had been her propensity to sit still. The dog was basically the same as her owner, unfortunately. “I’d get a cat, but I think that goes against my bloodline…” Mina said, dropping her voice at the blood part. They were in a muggle pub after all, and curious ears would only be more curious if they heard nonsensical things about werewolves and magic. She may have spilled the not-so-secret-secret of their mother’s affiliation to Fenrir Greyback way back when to his children, but she certainly wasn’t going to be the one to break the statute of secrecy.
She stared at Ophelia judgingly as the other woman said she wasn’t a child still. “You know damn well I’ll never grow up. Doesn’t matter if I can legally drink or have a stable job,” she sighed, following it with another slow sip of her drink. “If I’m alive at 30, it’ll be a miracle.” That was too somber of a thought for right now though. They were supposed to be drinking and forgetting all of that stuff. Ophelia raised her new drink, and Mina tapped her own against it. “Cheers,” she said as well before taking a long sip of it. Snorting at Ophelia’s reaction and cough to it, Mina watched her drink the rest of. “Havana rum. Haven’t seen much of it over here, but it’s pretty popular in the southern states and in Mexico.” Ophelia ordered another one, and Mina smiled as she took another drink of her own. This was rather weak compared to the ones she had across the pond, but it was going to hit her friend here hard in a few minutes. Especially with a second one on the way. “Any place in mind? Preferably somewhere Sarah doesn’t work,” she rolled her eyes. Club Indigo got old. A muggle club was preferable to that place.

Ophelia burst out in a fit of giggles at Mina’s bloodline quip. It was no secret that the Oliviera’s used to be affiliated with Fenrir Greyback for years, and to her she knew that both Koda and Sarah were werewolves themselves. “Any cat of yours probably would either not live very long or quickly grow to hate you,” she agreed. She simply rolled her eyes at the glare Mina gave her. “You already have grown up in a sense Mina, you’re just too stubborn to admit it,” she stated matter-of-factly. She could feel the effects of the alcoholic beverages she had consumed beginning to creep around her; she felt good though, looser and more free. If this was how Mina felt when she drank, then she was sure to have a good time tonight. She finished her drink with a flourish and hopped off the barstool with a burst of speed; running her hands through her dark hair. “Come on then!” she said, fishing out the funds from her purse and leaving them on the table to pay for both drinks. Ophelia couldn’t help but shudder a little at Mina’s mention of Sarah. While she didn’t have any proof that Sarah had had something to do with the fall that had cause her to miscarry, Ophelia still felt incredibly uncomfortable around her. Grabbing Mina’s hand, she led her out of the bar. “There’s a great row of clubs down by the theatre district,” Ophelia told her, linking arms with the younger woman as they walked. “What sort of club do you prefer? Aside from Club Indigo, where we absolutely will not be going,” she asked. She wasn’t entirely sure of Mina’s sexual preference, now that she thought about it, but as Ophelia identified as pansexual, she was pretty much comfortable wherever she went; the type of club didn’t much matter to her. mina pandora oliveira

Smiling at Ophelia’s outburst from her comment on cats, Mina nodded her head. Obviously she wasn’t made for cats, and cats not made for her. While she was kind of joking about it, she also wasn’t. Cats and Oliveiras did not go hand in hand. The family had never actually had one, but if they had, Mina was positive that one of them would have killed it eventually, in which case Ophelia was right. She would place bets on Sarah snuffing out the poor kitty’s nine lives first, if she didn’t do it herself (on accident, of course). Dogs were man’s best friend after all, and they were much more resilient when it came to wrestling and playing around. Mina already had one dispassionate creature at home named Callisto. She didn’t need a cat doing the same thing to her.
Mina ignored the part about actually being grown up already. She wasn’t that stubborn, and if she was, then she would know it. Her family and friends told her plenty of times that she needed to grow up, so that meant she hadn’t gotten to that point yet. There were small steps here and there, and while that worked for Ophelia, it didn’t work for everyone else in her life. A lot of ground still needed to be covered in the next few years, and right now it was looking to proceed forward very, very slowly.
What didn’t go slow was how quickly Ophelia knocked down her drinks. Seeing as it looked like her companion wanted to continue on, Mina finished the remainder of her drink off as well. There wasn’t much left in it, and while she desperately wanted another drink, waiting until the next place they wandered into wouldn’t be all that bad. Ophelia paid for their drinks and grabbed onto Mina’s hand, swiftly moving her out of the bar. She tried to hide the smile on her face, relishing in the fact that for once she was the one being lead, instead of being the one doing the leading. Her muggle friends were the slow sort, enjoying stumbling down the street to the next bar, whereas she liked to move them along so she could get back to drinking and flirting with whatever eye candy she could find. Ophelia linked arms with her and asked what kind of clubs she preferred. That was a tough question. “Usually anything that has cheap alcohol,” Mina admitted while trying to think of a better answer. “Loud music and dancing masks a lot, so I like going to those kinds. Usually lose my friends along the way though.”

Ophelia didn’t miss the smile that was on Mina’s face, but she chose not to comment on it. She knew that meant Mina was having a good time, but she doubted the girl would verbalize that to her. It wasn’t as if Mina hated Ophelia, at least she didn’t believe that. She thought it was more of a resentment feeling. She had been pregnant with Dakota’s child so she was the center of his attention. Mina, the President of his Fan Club in order to keep the fans at bay (or so she claimed) had been used to gaining most of Koda’s attention up until that point. Ophelia had never had anyones attention so fully before, and she hadn’t really wanted it. She was not a star, a center of attention type person, though she may have come across that way at times. She was perfectly happy being on the sidelines when necessary. Tonight though, Ophelia had the feeling the spotlight would be on both herself and Mina, from the way they were dressed to the level of intoxication Ophelia at least was planning on reaching. “Hmm okay, I have been to a few clubs in the area,” Ophelia mused, not bothering to add that some of them were with Mina’s brother. He didn’t need to be brought up anyway. She thought for a moment, then tugged on Mina’s arm. “I know just the place, my friend is one of the bouncers so he’ll let us in without a cover,” she said gleefully. She guided Mina towards a club called the Ministry of Sound. Typically one had to buy tickets there, but one of her friends had just gotten a job as a bouncer there a few months back. If he was working, then they’d get in Scot free. Gleefully, Ophelia waved as she spotted her charming friend working the door. He smiled and opened the door for the two women; Ophelia blew him a kiss as they walked into the large space. The house music was already thumping; Ophelia turned to Mina. “Good enough for you?” she asked loudly, a smile on her face. She had a feeling this place was defnitely to Mina’s liking. She beckoned, and the two made their way over to the bar. “Let’s do some shots first,” she shouted over the music, ordering two shots of whiskey followed by two Jack and Cokes for the two of them. “To a fun night!” she exclaimed, downing her shot and taking a long sip of her mixed drink. “Come on lets go dance!” she shouted, grabbing Mina’s hand again and dragging her out onto the dance floor. Ophelia began to dance, happy to let loose for a change. The alcohol she had consumed was definitely beginning to cloud her mind, but she felt good, loose, and happy to be alive. mina pandora oliveira

Mina wasn’t even sure if she had been to some of the clubs that Ophelia was mentioning, or rather the ones they passed by. There were any number of reasons for that, usually ranging from her being in them while blacked out, to simply having a short memory span. Like she had vocalized, all she wanted was cheap alcohol to get trashed on. While that was easiest by buying at the mart and drinking at home, that wasn’t all that fun and she couldn’t go out and meet people. She didn’t need to be physically bonding with people every night of the week like some she knew, but chatting and drinking with them was enough for her. Anything to escape life for a few hours and forget that work and all of her problems even exist in the first place. She knew that wasn’t healthy, Callisto reminding her every time she woke up the next morning wondering how she had gotten home. Something had to be done to break the cycle though. If she couldn’t travel or spend money like crazy, drinking it was.
She nodded her head as Ophelia said she knew a bouncer, and as they were let into the proposed club, she gave the bouncer a wave. That was nice of him. Usually she waited like a normal person. Ophelia definitely had some ins she could get used to using. “Yeah this is pretty cool,” Mina said as she looked around. Not that there was much to look at in the darkness other than the silhouettes of bobbing heads in the crowd and neon lights slashing across the room to the music. She never would have made it into this place with her muggles. They were too normal to get this kind of treatment. That was why they were always subjected to shitty clubs and bars. Again, Mina couldn’t complain too much because those cheap bars meant less money spent on alcohol and more to her pocket.
To the bar they went and Ophelia ordered shots and drinks for them. Whiskey. Good. The goal was to stay rather tame for a while, and then break out the tequila. That always ended her in a way that made the rest of the night fun. Raising her own shot glass, she knocked it back simultaneously with Ophelia’s, and then picked up her own drink. While she hadn’t had remotely as much alcohol as her companion had, Mina knew there was going to be a tipping point here eventually. If Ophelia held her own they would both be going downhill around the same time. If not…well Mina was sure she would have to become the responsible one. She didn’t want to be the responsible one. Taking a much longer sip of her drink than Ophelia had of her own, Mina tried to make up for that. “Let’s,” she said as Ophelia dragged her to the dance floor. There was no fighting that, and letting loose was great.

Ophelia was please Mina went along with her plan to dance - it was exactly what she needed right in this very moment, and she didn’t want a party pooper! In truth, Ophie realized that running into Mina must have been fate. Mina, as Dakota had always put it, was a party animal. Sure, in their time she and Koda had had their wild nights, but according to him every night was wild for Mina Oliviera. She had her different friends for different reasons; Imogen helped keep her grounded, Aaron was there to remind her of what happiness could be like, and her patients, of course Ophelia considered her patients friends, were there so she could use her gift to help them heal mentally. Mina and her had never really been friends; if anything Ophie was pretty sure Mina had resented her for getting pregnant with her beloved brothers’ child. Mina had apologized earlier in the night though, so perhaps eventually they could become friends? At least, party friends if nothing else. Ophelia threw her hands in the air and twirled around, swaying and dancing in time to the music. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted an attractive person or two, but she wasn’t at that level just yet. She didn’t even know what she wanted to come out of this anyway; mostly she just wanted to have a good time, but who knows, maybe snogging a random stranger would be fun. After a few songs, Ophelia fanned herself, sweat glistening on her forehead. “I’m going to go to the loo then get us another round,” she shouted towards Mina, pantomiming bathroom and drinks. She excused herself off the dance floor and after doing her business returned to the floor with new drinks in hand. “Cheers!” she called, clinking her cup against Mina’s before taking a long sip. mina pandora oliveira

Mina wasn’t exactly sure why she had been holding back earlier in the night. It was so glaringly unlike her that it had to be obvious. She was sure Ophelia had noticed while they were at the bar and that was why they were now dancing – it was the only thing that made sense in her head. Mina knew she could chalk it up to their past. Things hadn’t been easy for Ophelia lately, and the former Slytherin understood that. But it also wasn’t right for Mina to drag the other woman’s night down with her inability to drink and have fun. Being responsible wasn’t her thing and never would be aside from going to work and taking care of her dog. That was all the responsibility she needed in her life for a long time.
The dancing seemed to revive her from the doomed mood she had been in at the beginning of the night. Usually when she was feeling off, she just went home and crashed. It was always better to sleep it off than to get unnecessarily drunk and regret it the next morning. There were plenty of days to get sloshed that doing it while in a bad head space wasn’t required all of the time. While the drinks weren’t flowing as quickly as they had been at the bar, there was still enough to consume throughout the next few songs that Mina was starting to feel more upbeat about it all. She was used to her groups of people that just dancing with Ophelia was a completely different thing from the norm. Another tally mark on the strange night she was having. At some point after a few songs, Ophelia mentioned the bathroom and more drinks, and Mina gave her a thumbs up and wandered the floor for a bit on her own. This would have been one of the situations where having others to talk to would have been nice. It didn’t take long for Ophelia to return, and during the absence Mina had milled around their location sipping on the remainder of her last drink. Taking the new one, she smiled at Ophelia as she raised her new drink to Mina’s. “Cheers,” she copied the other woman, before taking an equally long sip of her own.

Ophelia knew that Mina was having an..interesting time grasping at the situation they were currently in. Ophelia had seen more than her fair share of drunk Mina, but Mina had never been out drinking, or indeed ever asked Ophelia to drink with her before. Granted, Ophie had been pregnant for most of their reconnaissance this past year, and before that Dakota wouldn’t have thought to bring his younger sister on their...dates, or whatever they were doing, as much for Mina’s sake as Ophie’s. Still, the night hadn’t gone completely terrible, though Ophelia was blissfully glad she did not have to work tomorrow. She stumbled only once on her way to and from the restroom, which was good seeing as her wedges typically made her look like a wobbly giraffe when she was too intoxicated. They finished their drinks and danced some more, before Ophelia decided it was too loud and starting to smell like stale beer on the dance floor. “Let’s get out of here,” she shouted in Mina’s general direction. As if on cue, a man stumbled in front of Ophelia, sloshing beer all over her front. She gasped and instinct kicked in; as he began to apologize, Ophelia’s hand raised and she slapped him right across the face. “Let’s go,” she said firmly to Mina, grabbing the girls wrist and bringing her outside with her. “Ugh!” she exclaimed, ducking in a darkened alley to siphon the beer off her clothing with her wand. “Let’s go somewhere less seedy, but won’t mind two girls who’ve had quite a bit to drink,” she suggested brightly, her mood dramatically improved with dry clothing. mina pandora oliveira
