The weather was finally warming up and Hugo couldn't stay inside. Sure, exams were coming nearer and nearer each and every day but he really just couldn't focus on them. Not when the sunshine was calling him outside. So he wandered out of the Entrance Hall, making his way toward the Lake. Hugo wasn't exactly sure what he wanted to do, but he was sure he'd be able to have fun doing. After all, it was easy for him to make friends ... but a part of him was hoping to find one of his good friends.
He grinned when he saw a familiar figure ahead. Perfect! It'd been ages since he last saw Sav. Hugo started jogging toward the Lake, calling out to his friend as he did so. "Hey Sav! What are you up to?" he asked when he got near. He wasn't exactly sure what he wanted to do, but he was sure that if Sav wasn't busy they'd be able to figure something out.

Sav had been sitting by the lake contemplating his life. Things had been a little boring lately. Sure, this month saw his birthday and he was finally 17! But, besides that, he hadn't even snogged one girl so far this month. He had barely flirted with anyone. He had been off his game and he wasn't sure why. He had gone all year without snagging more than a 2 Beauxbatons girls. He had taken one of them to the Yule Ball, but he hadn't even seen her since the dance. Actually what was wrong with him? He felt so bored, so caged. So very much unlike himself. He heard the voice of his best friend come up from behind him and he turned his head to see the man. Hugo Weasley was the best friend that a Gryffindor could ask for and he always seemed to turn up when Sav needed a distraction. "Hey man." Sav smiled, happy to have the distraction. "Not much, just hanging out, relaxing a little." he lied, just a little white lie, though. "What brings you out here?" he asked.

When Sav turned around to face him, Hugo could tell something was off. After all, this was his best friend. However, judging by the way his friend smiled and said he was relaxing, Hugo decided that he probably didn't want to talk about it. Besides, Hugo didn't come here to talk. He wanted to do something. If talking came later ... well that was just fine with him, but he didn't want to just sit around today. He wanted to find some way to have a bit of adventure. Sav was definitely the friend to help with that. Hugo nodded at his friends word as he looked around. It was pretty relaxing outside, even if it didn't take away his restlessness. "I need to do something, Sav," Hugo admitted easily. "I'm bored and need ... I don't know what I need, but I need something different. Want to figure it out with me?" He quirked an eyebrow at his friend teasingly, "or do you want to stay here and relax?"

His friend seemed desperate to get up and do something. Sav had never seen Hugo quite this stir crazy before. He began to wonder why the man was so bored, he had a girlfriend didn't he? Where was she? Had she been hospitalized again? Sav honestly didn't know the answer and he felt like a bad friend for not knowing. "Okay, well what do you want to do? Jump in the lake or something?' Sav asked with a laugh. Of course there were things to do. "Wannah go for a run?" he asked, raising his eyebrow. He hadn't known Hugo to be quite as athletic as he himself was, but if he wanted to get out energy or something, running was the best way that Sav knew how. It was how he kept himself sane and when he thought his deepest thoughts. Sav MacMillian worked all of his internal problems out while running and because of that, he knew running was a addiction he'd never be able to give up.

Sav started giving out suggestions for things they could do and Hugo felt the corners of his mouth lift. He loved how his friend understood him so well. "Jumping in the lake could be fun ..." he said, trying to think if there was anything else that could top it. Then Sav suggested a run. "I could do a run, especially if we jump in the lake after," he said with a smirk. He knew Sav loved running and while Hugo wasn't exactly athletic, he thought it could be pretty fun to try it out with his best friend. "I'm not a big runner though, so I know I won't be able to keep up with you," Hugo added, grinning. "Just make sure you don't jump in the lake without me." There. That way they'd both be able to have fun.

Hugo went back and forth between jumping in the lake and taking a run around the grounds. Sav smirked, standing up as his friend decided. They would run and then jump in the lake at the end. Hugo admitted to not being able to keep up with Sav and the Gryffindor shrugged. “Well, the good thing about being a good athlete is that you can actually make your own pace, so, you set the speed and I’ll just keep up with you.” Sav insisted, he was never one to make anyone feel bad about anything, especially not their level of athleticism if they weren’t athletes. “So what? Once around the lawn and then into the lake? Oh man, people are going to think we’re mental, you’d better appreciate me.” he shook his head with a laugh. Jumping into the lake to impress a girl was one thing, but on a regular spring day where the temperature couldn’t have been over 13*C, with another man, was down right mental.

Hugo gave a fake groan when Sav said that he would just slow down. "Yeah, that's a consolation. I get to slow you down," he groaned, refusing to look at his friend, knowing that Sav would see the teasing glint in his eyes if he met Sav's eyes. His friend then started suggesting that they could run around the lawn and then jump into the lake, saying that people would think they were mental and Hugo grinned. "That won't be any surprise about me, everyone already knows I'm mental." He laughed. "Don't worry, I appreciate the sacrifice of your reputation for me," he teased. What was Sav worried about? It was April after all and some people were going into the water on purpose. They'd be fine. And it could be fun!

Sav scoffed when Hugo sarcastically said that he was going to hold his friend back, and slow him down. Hugo knew that Sav wasn't the type of person who cared about that sort of thing, while yes, he liked to be the fastest and strongest, both of them knew that it wasn't a competition between the two of them. And Sav was doing all of this for his friend anyway, which both Gryffindors knew. He was willing to risk people seeing him as a loon for Hugo, Hugo had always been there for him and it was a no brainier for Sav to be there for his friend also. "Yeah come on, you know what I meant." He laughed, catching his friends eye and rolling his own with a laugh. Hugo insisted that everyone already knew he was crazy and Sav laughed again, "Alright mate, whenever you're ready then, I'll give you a head start so it'll look like I'm trying to keep up." he smirked. Sav pulled one of his legs back to stretched his muscles before he ran, stretching was necessary in order to avoid injury.

Hugo laughed when Sav teased him back. "Yeah, I did," he agreed. "I was just messing around." Sav started saying that whenever Hugo was ready he could just start going, saying that he would let Hugo get a head start. Hugo made a face. "Well in that case ... I'm off!" He saw that his friend was stretching, but Hugo wasn't really a runner and didn't know very much about stretching and other athletic things. He just wanted to run. He started laughing as he ran and waited for his friend to catch up. A part of him wondered if Sav would follow right after him or if he would finish his stretching first. Hugo ran for a bit and then turned to look past his shoulder to see where his friend was.

Sav laughed when he saw his friend take off. He should have expected something along those lines from Hugo Weasley, ever the jokester. Sav had told him he could, though, so there was no one to blame but himself. He bounced up when his friend ran away, hoping that he was stretched enough to not have to risk injury. He had pulled enough muscles this year already, and here it was, coming to an end. He’d spend the whole of the summer working out, running around the neighborhood and flying whenever he got a chance. But this was different, this wasn’t exercise for the sake of exercise, this was running for the sake of letting Hugo get some energy out. Why his friend had so much energy, he wasn’t sure. Perhaps he’d ask when they calmed back down. Hopefully everything was alright with Xan. Sav MacMillian caught up with his friend and was just behind him when Hugo stopped and turned to look behind him. Sav took the opportunity to zoom past him. “Come on, keep up.” the Gryffindor laughed.

Of course, it didn't take Sav long to catch up with Hugo, but Hugo did try to do his best to keep the distance between them as long as possible. He still wasn't sure if his friend finished stretching before he came or not, but all too soon Sav passed him- coincidentally right as Hugo turned around to look for him. He glared at his friend playfully. "I am," he said, looking forward again and speeding up. Hugo definitely wasn't a runner, but he wasn't slow either. He hurried to try and catch up with his friend. They were about halfway around the lawn, which wasn't bad. What it meant was that it wouldn't be long until they were headed for the lake, which was the part Hugo was excited about. Jumping into the Lake would be exciting, even if it was the part Sav didn't really want to do.

Sav was impressed by his friend's ability and enthusiasm. Hugo was doing well and wasn’t too far behind, sav wasn’t going at full speed, but he wasn’t going easy on him anymore either. As distracted as Sav had been at the beginning of their interaction today, he wasn’t sure why he hadn’t just gone running anyway. Running always cleared his mind and helped him focus on what was important. And what was important now was friendship. His friend needed him so he was there. He could put his own feelings aside to focus on the needs of the man running after him across the lawns. They were about halfway there and getting to the point where they would soon be looping back towards the lake. Sav pressed forward, he had promised to stop at the lake and wait so they would be able to jump in at the same time. Sav gained on the lake, feeling the grass turn into pebbles beneath his feet as they got closer to the water.

Sav was slowly pulling ahead of Hugo, which definitely wasn't a surprise at all. He was a runner, after all, and Hugo most certainly wasn't. Still, he wasn't doing too badly. Hugo was actually pretty impressed with how well he'd done against Sav. Granted it wasn't a race and he definitely wouldn't have done as well if it was, but that was beside the point. As he turned and started heading toward the Black Lake, Hugo started gaining speed as the anticipation built up in him. He knew Sav said he would wait for Hugo at the Lake, but really Hugo suddenly wanted to run and jump in. Maybe he could convey that to his friend so he could join in? "Keep going! Don't stop!" Hugo shouted, not really sure if Sav could hear him, but trying all the same. There was a dock up ahead, close to the boathouse and that's where Hugo intended on jumping from. "The dock, man!" Hopefully Sav would be able to hear him.

Sav heard his friend and knew exactly what he meant. Sav had been expecting just to hump into the lake going straight from the bank into the water, sure, it wasn’t very deep, but he figured they could wade out if they wanted to go deeper into the water. He turned in his track and headed towards the dock instead of the lake, just a little to the right. It wasn’t too far out of the way and it would ensure a deeper jump. He heard his friend say not to stop and to just keep going, apparently Hugo no longer wanted him to wait for him at the dock so they could jump in together, he should just go for it and Hugo would join him shortly. Sav felt the feeling of the ground shift between the grassy lawns and the wooden dock. His footsteps began to make a deeper sound and he came to the end of the dock, passing the boats and jumping into the cold water. It never really got particularly warm in Scotland so even in the summer this was a crazy idea, but oh well. At least it was fun.

Hugo couldn't stop the grin from covering his face as he watched his friend change course. Of course Sav could hear him. As the dock loomed nearer and nearer he found himself moving faster, anticipation building inside of him. Of course, he knew it was going to be quite a shock to jump into the water, but he didn't care. It was something different, out of the ordinary and Hugo was excited for it. As he reached the dock, he watched Sav jump in. A few seconds later, Hugo jumped as well, making sure to aim so he wouldn't land on top of his friend. The water was freezing, but in a good, fresh sort of way. He sputtered as he rose about the water and looked around for his friend. "That was brilliant!" Hugo exclaimed, happier than he really should be because of this.
