Theodosia was not a fan of Quidditch, but even she had known there was going to be a Quidditch game that day. She knew because there were a few people who just couldn't shut up about it, as if the world somehow ended when there wasn't Quidditch to be played. Theodosia hadn't bothered to leave the Slytherin common room the day of the match - it wasn't interesting enough to warrant watching, especially not when the forecast called for a nasty spell of rain. Being forced to watch Quidditch and getting wet sounded like just about the worst thing that could happen to Theodosia, and she was more than happy to have a slightly emptier common room in which to study on the day of the match. Even when people trooped back in - most of them bedraggled from the heavy rains - Theodosia continued to ignore them, which was a feat considering the amount of noise they insisted on making. It wasn't until later in the day, at dinnertime, that Theodosia finally left the common room. She had hoped to escape the Quidditch talk, but at dinner, people were still buzzing about who had won and lost and all of the "amazing" plays that had been made. Theodosia left the Great Hall early, retreating back to the dungeons. She was more irritable coming back than she had been when she went up, which was saying something considering the amount of time she had had to spend surrounded by idiots. Theodosia was a snake, coiled and prepared to strike, and woe be to anyone who crossed her path in this state.

Zita was so ecstatic. And well on her way to drunk. There had been a pick up quidditch game and Zita, itching for some quidditch action considering she'd been deprived of it most of the year due to the Triwizard Tournament, decided that there was no way she was missing out on the game. She had participated in the game, and it had been a close one. Luckily enough, they'd pulled out the win in the end and she'd been extremely excited about it. It had felt good to be out on the pitch again, feeling the heat of the game. It had been raining rather heavily most of the game too so once it was over, everyone quickly rushed back in to celebrate the winners. Because it was neutral ground, it was decided that they would hold the celebration in the Room of Requirement, which was tricky for Zita because she was a Hufflepuff and that meant she had to make it from the Room of Requirement back down to the Hufflepuff common room without drawing attention to herself. After spending a while at the party, she decided that she wanted to head back down to the common room with a few of her teammates with promises to return to the party later if it was still going on. They were probably being rather loud; one of them had made a really funny joke and the three of them couldn't stop laughing at it. Maybe it was the alcohol but she was having a ton of fun. Walking down the hall towards their own common room, Zita spotted someone walking in their direction. She smirked when she realized who it was. Trying not to draw attention to her target, she bid her teammates farewell, suggesting that she'd left something back at the party and she needed to go back and get it. Once her teammates had disappeared, she waited patiently for the curly-haired snake to approach before she said anything. "I knew you'd find me sooner or later." Her words weren't slurring just yet but she definitely felt warmer than she had even on the quidditch pitch. It would all hit her soon.

As Theo walked through the corridor, her attention was broken by loud peals of laughter. She narrowed her eyes, glaring in the direction of the sound in annoyance. Suddenly the trio that was making the noise was reduced to a single person, and when the person was by herself, Theo recognized her instantly – it was her Hufflepuff toy. Much to the Slytherin’s surprise, the other girl actually approached her first, saying that she knew that Theo would find her sooner or later. That had never been Theodosia’s intention – in fact, she wanted to be as far away from Zita as possible at the moment, because it was obvious that the other girl had been one of the Quidditch players, and Theo was sick half to death with hearing about the stupid Quidditch match. When she stepped forward again, though, Theodosia was hit by something unexpected – the smell of alcohol on the Hufflepuff’s breath. It seemed as if the pure, innocent badger wasn’t so pure or innocent after all. Theodosia arched an eyebrow at Zita. “Are you drunk?” If she wasn’t already sloshed then she was well on her way to being, and Theodosia wondered if that was what Zita was planning on doing for the rest of the night. How very… plebeian, Theo thought as she waited for a response to her question.

The Hufflepuff was moving at half-speed at the moment because working her body during the game and then dancing at the party on top of the alcohol that was in her system was just enough to get her to slow down. So when Theodosia took a step closer to her, she wasn't expecting it and didn't have enough time to step out of her range. She didn't move at all actually. Maybe it was because she looked really cute today and she was in a celebratory mood so she didn't mind having her so close. Or the alcohol too. Didn't really matter at the moment. They were mostly alone in the corridor; the nearest people were a little way's away from them heading towards the Hufflepuff common room. Zita watched as the Slytherin girl's eyebrow lifted and she asked her if she was drunk. "Not yet but I will be soon enough. Why? Did I interrupt you or something?" she asked as she eyed the girl closely now. Of course she had been headed somewhere. At least she had probably been headed somewhere until she'd seen Zita. She felt the flask that was in her pocket underneath her hand. It was full of firewhiskey and she had planned on finishing it with her teammates in the common room. It was a celebration so why not?

Zita was drunk. Theodosia almost couldn’t get that through her own head, because it seemed s strange that the Hufflepuff, who always wanted to be in control, would give up her to control to something as silly as a drink. It made Theodosia if she was somehow lesser than a bottle of vodka, if it could get the Hufflepuff to unwind, but Theo couldn’t. Still, that wasn’t the primary goal of this interaction. Theodosia was arguing with herself internally. She could be a decent human being and make sure that Zita got to the Hufflepuff common room without accidentally injuring herself in her inebriated state… but since when had Theodosia been a decent human being? There was a part of her, a much larger part, that wanted to take advantage of Zita’s drunkenness in some way. The thing was, if Zita remembered this encounter, and she remembered that Theo had been eager to jump on her when she couldn’t say no, then the Hufflepuff’s poor opinion of the Slytherin would be solidified forever. Theodosia huffed a breath, unsure of what to do in this situation. “What would you be interrupting, darling?” Theo asked, deciding that keeping Zita engaged in conversation would give her time to make her decision.

Zita watched as the Slytherin girl huffed before asking her a question that shouldn't have baffled her, but it did momentarily. She didn't know the girl well enough to say with accuracy what it was she may have been on her way to do. Something bad, she could have guess, with what she knew. Or maybe she was off to bother someone else with her kisses. She gave a huff of her own before shrugging. "I don't know. You seem like the type who's not okay with being bored," she assumed before taking a look behind to the girl to see if anyone else was around. The corridor was empty heading that way. A look behind her let her know that that there were a few people behind her, fellow Hufflepuff, but they all looked as if they were headed off to the common room and not in the direction her and Theodosia were standing. "So was I? Were you doing something? Looking for me? Or someone else?" Each question fell casually out her mouth as the alcohol in her system began to hit her just a tad harder. And she still had the flask in her pocket. She'd completely forsaken the fact that she was supposed to be going back to her friends in the common room, even the fact that she was supposed to be going back to the Quidditch party at some point. Theodosia was right in front of her now and all she wanted to do was... something. Bother her like she had been doing as of late? Demand some answers from her? Like she'd gotten so many the last time she'd tried that. And she definitely didn't think it would happen in the state she was in now.

Theodosia arched an eyebrow when Zita said that the Slytherin girl didn’t seem like the kind who was okay with being bored. It was true that she liked to have a project on her plate at all times, but Theodosia had a feeling that she and Zita thought of being bored in totally different ways. To Theo, the planning of an ambush was just as important as the ambush itself, and wasn’t boring whatsoever; to Zita, it seemed that being bored could only be dispelled by actions, and not thoughts of the future. It wasn’t bothersome to Theo – she was often misread, especially when it came to her motivations for her various exploits. Zita continued to press for information, asking again if she had interrupted something, and the Slytherin girl simply blinked in response, prepared to answer the Hufflepuff’s questions with more questions of her own. “Why would I be looking for you?” Yes, she was interested in running into the Hufflepuff as often as possible, but it wasn’t an obsession that would drive her to do idiotic things (at least not yet). “And who else would I be looking for?” It wasn’t like Theodosia was particularly interested in most of the school – she rarely went searching for specific people. She bullied whoever happened to cross her path, and beyond that, she didn’t really care who she saw. But, the Slytherin was curious to see what Zita was thinking, and why she was asking so many questions.

No one could ever accuse Zita of keeping quiet when something needed to be said nor could anyone ever accuse her of being a liar. However, maybe it was the buzz she had going but her lips were much looser than they normally were. Her mind was wading through her thoughts and she was processing the Slytherin’s words as they came. Why would she be looking for her? The questioning look she gave the girl was obvious. She figured the girl would try and give her some sort of look of innocence so she sighed instead. "That’s what I’m trying to figure out actually." her words came out on the end of an exhale just as she pulled the filled flask out of her pocket. It had warmed up just a little bit from pressing against her thigh but she opened it without a care and took a sip of the firewhiskey it contained. "I mean, I think you may be interested in me but I still feel like I don’t have all of the details." She pressed her thumb against the side of her mouth in an effort to catch any stray liquid and the drink burned as it went down. She didn’t mind the firewhiskey burn; it bothered most people and the first time she’d heard about it she’d expected the worst but it wasn’t so bad. "You don’t really react to anything I do or really answer any of my questions, like now, so I don’t know." Another look around the hallway and she saw that it was emptier than it was before. How long it would remain that way, she didn’t know, so she slipped the flask back into her pocket just in case. "I don’t really know who else you’d be looking for,” she commented as an afterthought. Maybe her boyfriend, though she thought she remembered the Slytherin alluding to the fact that she really wasn’t into the guy? Or maybe she was looking for someone to bother. Zita tried not to think too much about that. "So am I right?"

Zita said she was trying to figure out why the Slytherin had made a point to run into the Hufflepuff at every possible turn, and Theodosia couldn’t help the grin that crept up onto her face. She did enjoy being mysterious, and the fact that the Hufflepuff thought about her, and tried to figure her out, sent a jolt of triumph through the Slytherin. She hadn’t been entirely written off yet, and that was all that she needed to know. Zita said that she thought Theo might be interested in her, but that she didn’t think she had all the details, both of which were true statements. Theodosia wondered if she would have gotten further in this flirtation, courtship, whatever the hell the world was, if she didn’t hold her cards so close to her chest. If she was willing to give more while receiving less. She had thought of that as giving up (and Merlin knew that Theo hated to give up or give in), but what Zita was saying was making Theodosia reconsider. The Hufflepuff continued on, and Theo was surprised by the volume of words coming towards her. Even when she was frustrated, the other girl had been rather tight-lipped. Theo wondered if it was the alcohol that was making Zita talk more, or if there was just so much pent-up frustration that she was finally beginning to explode. The tirade of sorts finished with a comment about who else Theo would be looking for – no one – and a question about the veracity of her statements. “What would you do if I did say I was interested?” Theodosia asked, meeting the other girl in the eyes and trying to exude confidence that she didn’t have. “You’ve made it quite clear that you think that I’m nothing more than another sleazy snake, which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence if I were to confess my attraction to you.” There. That was as much of her hand as she was willing to tip, but Theo hoped that it was at least enough of a slip to get the Hufflepuff to really think.

Once again, Theodosia didn’t answer her question, not directly anyway and even still Zita didn’t know if she should interpret the way she answered as confirmation. Though she didn’t think she would ever get a straight answer from her, the way the words she spoke processed in her brain was enough for her to pause and take a deep breath for a minute. She accused of her of already thinking ill of her, which was rather true she could admit, so she admitted she wouldn’t exactly be confident with confessing her interest. The words were still moving around her brain slowly. It’d sounded close enough to an admission to her. "I didn’t think about you like that at first. Not until you broke the heel of one of my favorite pairs of shoes," she said, a lot less frustrated than she would have been normally. She was actually a little bit amused by that. She usually didn’t even entertain the house stereotypes. She knew and liked people from every house and took people at face value. Really much easier that way. They were in GSA together; even if she hadn’t known much about her before she’d known then at least that Theodosia was LGBTQ+ friendly. That was enough for Zita to think she was decent. And she’d thought she was cute of course but that was neither here nor there. Zita grew quiet for a moment, pressing her lips together and giving her an expectant look. "So. Are you?” she took the flask out of her pocket again and took a small sip of it. She figured the hall was still empty at this point and she really didn’t care to check. All of her attention, what little of it she could salvage anyway from the fuzzy state of her brain, was focused on the Slytherin girl in front of her.

Theodosia resisted the urge to roll her eyes at Zita. She didn’t really care whether or not the Hufflepuff had started thinking of her as a dirty snake – what mattered was that now, that was how she was perceived. And, since Zita didn’t deny that, and Hufflepuffs always seemed so quick to deny that they hated people, Theo was going to work under the assumption that it was what Zita really felt. It wasn’t a surprise, but it still made Theo mildly uncomfortable. She didn’t care much about being liked, but she did care about being liked by Zita… because that was her mission, and she never failed on a mission. That was what being Slytherin meant to Theodosia – never failing, even when the odds were stacked against her. She needed to find a way to turn this situation to be in her favor, and honestly, she wasn’t sure how to do that. Zita pressed her question, though, about Theo being attracted to her, and the Slytherin blinked. “Why don’t you find out?” Theo asked. It was as close to a dare as she could get – a date for Zita to give in, to kiss her, to admit that she was curious enough about how Theo felt to kiss a snake.

A game. Everything felt like they were down to a game and Zita didn’t like it. Even in her muddled state Zita could feel a bit of frustration pool because Theodosia was forcing a hand that she didn’t even know she was holding. Once again, she didn’t really react to what the Hufflepuff was saying. She did, however, bait her. She wanted her to ‘come and find out’ if what she had guessed at was true. Even though she didn’t say anything, the meaning behind the words was clear. Zita would have to get close to her. Zita would have to give in to her in order to find out anything she wanted to know. She was used to making spur of the moment decisions, ones that usually didn’t have the best results. It wasn’t her first time doing something she probably shouldn’t do. What was so sweet about this situation, however, was that she had nothing to lose. As much as Theodosia cornered her and attempted to bully her, if she actually went through with this, nobody would know about it. Theodosia was the one that had something on the line. She didn’t want anyone to know about her, about the fact that she fancied women. She wouldn’t be going around and detailing the fact that she’d been kissed by a Hufflepuff. Unless she tried to spin it. It would still look suspicious either way. Even still, she was waiting. And Zita had decided she’d play. Taking one more look around the corridor to make sure it was clear, Zita closed the distance between the two of them. When there was barely any space between them, she placed her hand underneath her chin, tilting her held slightly upward. And then she kissed her, placing her lips gently onto hers for just a moment before she pulled back. She didn’t move back though. She wanted to kiss her again, she held her position instead. "Do I find out now?” The words were spoken softly, a puff of air in the empty corridor.
