Quidditch games were definitely not one of Rory's favorite places to work. Sure, he enjoyed watching the sport when he was off duty, but as a Mediwizard, he didn't particularly enjoy watching people attack one another and then have to deal with any major mishaps. Granted, people didn't normally get too injured in Professional Quidditch matches, but there were a few worrisome one. Like that one a few months ago where a Beater from the Falmouth Falcons broke her arm and then fell off her broom mid-flight. That was a scary one, but he hoped to see her today, playing well. That would make him feel better about it all. Rory made his way to the tent, wondering who else was on duty today. He walked in and smiled. "Hello. How are you doing today?" he asked as he made his way around the tent, letting his eyes glance around to make sure everything was as it should be. It was, of course. Then he turned his attention to the other girl in the tent. @rivune (I can't remember if we decided they met before this or not ... so I left it vague.)

Trixie seemed very cheerful and a part of Rory felt annoyed by that. Why did people like working at events like this? They were dull and repetitive. Rarely did anything truly exciting happen and most of the time he ended up missing the game for it. Rory liked Quidditch, but not when he was working. She said she was glad to be here and Rory shrugged, "At least that makes one of us." Then he sighed, knowing he needed to change his attitude. It wasn't her fault that this was his least favorite responsibility. He forced a smile at her next question, "Smooshed fingers?" his eyebrows lifted curiously. "I was thinking more along the lines of broken bones ... it doesn't always happen, but I do think that's the most likely." He knew she wasn't entirely serious, but he still answered as if she were. Then she commented about speedy bone-joint repair and pain regulation and Rory nodded, "Yeah, that's definitely more likely," he agreed.
He moved to the entrance of the tent and glanced up at the game, which seemed to be going smoothly enough so far. "So unless you have questions about what we'll be doing here today ... what do you want to talk about?" If he remembered right, Trixie was one of the more confident trainees. Their conversations didn't normally entail him teaching her how to do things, she already seemed to know.

He nodded as Trixie explained what she felt prepared for, "Good. You should get some pretty decent practice today, if things go the way they normally do." Which part of him hoped it wouldn't. Injuries were never a fun thing. He remembered working several months ago when a young Beater got hit by a broom, fell off her broom and was badly injured. That was an eventful day, which made his job more interesting. He just hated that people had to get hurt in order for working at a Quidditch game to feel worth it to him. He nodded when she said she'd ask questions if unusual things happened. "I would expect nothing less," he responded.
He frowned when she started telling him about an unusual case that she saw at Mungo's recently and shook his head as she explained. Really, witches and wizards were supposed to be smart. Weren't they taught in school to always go to a healer when an injury was bad? He'd been taught that. Yet, they always seemed to think they could take care of things themselves and made them worse. "I didn't hear about that one," he admitted, "Did you all get him figured out?" He hoped so. Maybe the man learned his lesson though.
He shrugged at her question. "I see crazy situations all the time, but I normally don't end up dealing with anything past the initial stages. You know, preparing them for transportation, making sure they're safe for travel and such." Sometimes he ended up working in the hospital, but that was a rarity. Most of the time, Rory was quite busy being summoned from place to place. He tried to think of an unusual circumstance that she would find interesting. "Give me a minute to come up with an interesting one," he mumbled, somewhat annoyed that he couldn't come up with something off the top of his head.
@rivune (sorry that took so long)

Rory nodded as Trixie explained what happened with Mr. Harper and all they did. "Well, I hope things work out for him." Really, Rory was always one to hope for the best. It didn't always work that way- he was fully aware of that- but he felt that it did no good to be negative and think about things as though they would never improve. When people did that, they tended to be right. Attitude had a lot more to do with the healing process than most people realized.
She didn't have any comments or questions when he explained about his job, but that might have been because a whistle blew, signifying that one of the players needed help. Trixie grinned, obviously excited and ran out of the tent. Rory followed her, though he wasn't quite running. He was here in a supervisory mode, after all. It was best to let her get the real experience here.
As she made her assessment, Rory stood beside her, nodding when she described his injury. This wasn't a terribly difficult injury to work with, but it would be uncomfortable for the player. Trixie could do it. He nodded at her, "Go ahead," he said softly, not wanting anyone around to doubt her or what she was about to do. She had everything under control, he was confident.

Rory was used to acting as a mentor in situations like this, but at the same time it was a little hard for him. As a general rule, he preferred just helping people. Standing by wasn't really in his nature. Maybe that was one of the reasons they seemed to want him to work with the newer healers, since he always jumped in to help others. Still, it was hard for him to stand there and watch Trixie work on the poor Quidditch player.
Rory took a deep breath and clasped his hands together, behind his back, as he watcher her work. Of course, if she was about to do something he didn't think was appropriate, he would jump in right away, but he was trying to seem calm and confident in her abilities. Not only would that help her confidence, but it should help the player relax a little, if they realized that their condition wasn't bad enough that two healers were working on them.
He nodded as Trixie explained what she was doing, being direct and to the point. In his opinion, that was best. You wanted to tell the person what you were doing, but really healers needed to work on the injuries. She clearly knew what she was doing as she focused first on the dislocation, which was good. Honestly, Rory expected Trixie to know what she was doing. It was one of the reasons he liked working with her. He glanced at the player's face every once-in-a-while, but focused most of his attention on Trixie as she worked.
She was wrapping the player's hand up before long and Rory nodded as the player glanced to him after hearing Trixie's instructions. "Go ahead," he encouraged, gesturing to the tent opening as the guy left. Then he turned his full attention to her as she asked her questions. He shrugged a little and allowed himself to smile, now that the patient was gone. "You did really well," he answered honestly. "You did everything in the right order, and I thought your bedside manner was just fine. I know some people would have talked more, but the important thing is telling them what you're doing and then being efficient. You did both well." He thought a moment, "You'll feel more comfortable about talking and wrapping their hands the more you do it." He allowed his smile to grow a little bigger. "Are you hoping for more excitement than that?" he asked curiously, not quite sure if she'd be satisfied with that or not.

Trixie seemed pleased by his words and Rory was glad. He was convinced that people at her stage in the career needed lots of good encouragement. Of course, it had to be sincere encouragement and compliments, but Rory felt like he did a pretty good job at that. He wanted people to feel successful and like they could actually learn this, since there was lots to learn in the medical profession. He just wanted to help out with that. Trixie was confident enough though and Rory was sure that she'd do well. He smiled at her, laughing when she said that he got to help the next person that needed it. "All right, I'll get the next one. Just be prepared to jump in. If I see you not paying attention, I'll make you jump in part-way through." There. That should make sure she actually did stay involved with what happened, instead of daydreaming. Luckily, there were no other major injuries in the game and it wasn't long before Rory was waving at Trixie before apparating back to the hospital. He didn't know if she had more to do or not, but he had plenty more people that would need him, he was sure.
