Daniel had written to Raina Krum, asking her to meet him at the Leaky Cauldron on this fine day at two p.m. She had just gotten out of school not very many days ago, and he had just officially moved to England but he wanted to see her, even amidst all this chaos.
Now, sitting in the Leaky, he wished he had chosen a park or something instead so they could have brought their cats to say hello. They'd have to do that next time... or just migrate later today, depending how this little lunch date went. He picked out a table and sat down, hoping that she'd be able to see him easily when she walked in the door. She was young, but she wasn't in any way stupid. She was a good kid. One of the best kids he knew, in fact.
He was getting agitated waiting, though, even though it wasn't even two yet. He hadn't really spoken to her either since he went back to Durmstrang in January... granted, everyone was so busy this semester that nobody had much time for writing. But still...

It had been a bit of a surprise for the youngest Krum to have received a letter from Daniel. Just a few days after the school year had ended - a little early due to the certain events that occurred. She had been attempting to relax when it had arrived - for Raina, it was a little hard - having to omit the truth a little, she refused to label it as lying - instead just not saying a few small details. She was torn however on how to feel about the matter of actually seeing Daniel again - on one hand, she liked him - she really did. He was nice and kind - even to her, Irina's littlest sister. On the other hand however... he had hurt her sister - instantly something that she despised was anyone hurting any of her siblings.
Still she found herself, letter tucked into her pocket - walking towards the Leaky Cauldron in the afternoon, she was rarely ever late - the only exceptions being if something happened, so it was a few minutes before two p.m. that she was paused at the doors, debating if this was actually a good idea. In the end - it was still Daniel and she did want to see him, if only to see how he was and maybe ask about the gift he had sent Irina. As she entered she quickly found him and hurried over to the table he had been waiting at, and a quick check of her watch still proved she was at least two minutes earlier than the arranged time.
"Daniel. Hi.." Raina spoke up, trying her best to not smile too much - she was still a little sour at him after all. It was hard though - Raina was so much of a happy person that her trying not to be who she was - it was a sure struggle that was unable to be hidden.

He stood as soon as he caught sight of her. She greeted him and those emotions seeped through. She wanted to be mad, but she was conflicted by being happy to see him. That made him smile a little. Raina was one of the people he hadn't told about his empathic abilities yet, so he didn't explain that it was pointless for her to try and hide what she was feeling from him. He'd let her have her secrets for now, no use rocking the boat when it's already tipped over.
"Rai, hey," he said softly. Dan was never really one for talking much, but that's what they were there to do so he would be moving past that quirk. "How's Pickles?" okay, okay, Dan knew it wasn't exactly fair to appeal to the cat lover in her, as well as appeal to an important part of their relationship. He had given her that cat, and that was enough to bind them together even closer whether Raina liked that or not.
He could feel her emotions, though, and she did. She still liked him, even if she wanted to be angry with him.

It was so hard for the teenager to remain unhappy, honestly seeing the youngest Krum girl any way other than full of smiles and bubbly energy would be a cause for someone to worry about her. She was rarely ever unhappy - and even now, trying to not smile and trying to push down the happiness at seeing Daniel again - it was hard. Of course she didn't know that Daniel actually knew how she was truly feeling - to anyone else, it would appear that Raina wasn't happy to be there - her face would show as much. But inside the younger girl was struggling with several different emotions, including a feeling of guilt at not having told her sisters where she had been going or who she would be meeting up with. She hadn't lied of course - but a tiny ommision - and for Raina that was bad enough to warrant her feeling guilty.
She was glad to see him though - even if it meant she was battling her own emotions. Hearing him say her name, even threatened to make her smile. "Hi Daniel.." she peered back at him as she spoke, reaching up to tuck her hair behind her ear, her hair was still coloured blue, but it was mentioning her cat that of course got a reaction from her - her eyes lit up, softening from her attempts at appearing 'mad', well she was a little mad.. but that was more because she had seen her sister hurt and anyone would be upset with that - right? "Mr. Pickles is doing good - he apparently likes sneaking off on adventures, which made things interesting in the Common Room" And there it was, a hint of a smile.
Raina gave a small sigh, her arms crossing in front of her chest as she frowns quickly, "You're making this so hard you know..." she mumbled the words - shooting a small glare towards him, something that she knew could make people take a step back. Raina was a sweetheart, basically everyone knew that - but if you made her upset and it meant you had certainly messed up, "I'm supposed to be mad at you. But its hard to be mad at you when you're right here and being so nice.." her glare as quickly as it had appeared - just dropped and instead she started to pout - looking more like a sulking twelve year old than her actual age.

She was happy to see him, he could tell, of course. She was also disappointed, or something similar, that she was happy. She was trying to hide it, and she didn't even know that she couldn't. He had already decided it was time for this sort of sister of his to know his secret, especially since he felt like he was spying on her right now. She couldn't even make her annoyance convincing without his powers, let alone with it. She said hi name, greeting him, tucking her slightly blue hair behind her ear. At the mention of Pickles her emotions spiked, sending her happy and proud. "He and Kirisin should have a play date sometime," Kirisin was his cat, as Raina would know. "Adventures are good for cats. And most people," he added.
She sighed and he couldn't help but smile at that. Her traces of anger were almost vanished now, and she admitted that it was hard because of him. He waited, letting her glare but not budging. It was a serious thing, though, her being upset with him even a little. She said she was supposed to be mad, but it was hard when he was being so nice. She pouted and he had to bite his bottom lip to keep from laughing out loud. He looked down, shaking his head to calm himself before looking back up at her. "Please, don't be mad. I'm working things out. I left for good reason, Rai Rai," he said, stealing Irinas nickname for the girl. "Allow me to explain?" he gestured to the seat beside him.

Raina carefully played with her hair as she sat down, she was still feeling a little uneasy about being there - mostly due to the fact that she had basically had to sneak away to meet with Daniel. While keeping secrets wasn't all that hard - she often would feel rather uncomfortable about being any kind of dishonest, this time though she had pushed through most of that out of actually wanting to go through with the meeting - it was however already more awkward than she expected and she was finding it harder to hide how she was feeling - which for Raina was always something she struggled with. Despite how it might make her pout to hear it, she was pretty easy to read. Talking about her cat though, was always something that made her happy, "That would be nice - I.. I'm pretty sure he has missed Kirisin as well," and okay - she had also kind of missed Daniel too, but was that okay to even say? She wasn't too sure, "I know.. Pickles is one of the most adventurous cats at school, I'm pretty sure he's been the reason I've met some of my new friends this year."
She couldn't help how she was feeling, it still was uncomfortable - the confliction she was feeling - between wanting so badly to be angry and upset with him and her actually being so happy to see him again. It was confusing really. She had never been a really 'angry' person. But Daniel had hurt her sister and it had hurt her to see Irina that way. So being angry at him was a valid thing - wasn't it? She was still pouting a little as he spoke, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked back at him, but at the sound of her nickname she couldn't help but relax a little. It was hard to stay mad at him, just as hard as it was when she was upset with any of her siblings - it became quickly almost impossible and her pout remained firmly on her face.
"Explain then.. because I'm still not happy with you, even if I can't keep being mad you still hurt my sister and I don't like that you did that." Raina sighed, shaking her head but uncrossing her arms as she sat down beside him. "You know us Daniel... you hurt one of us, you hurt all of us. So why did you leave..?"

Daniel nodded as Raina said that Pickles missed Kirisin and that the cat helped her make new friends. He was glad that he could have some part in that. He wasn't great at making friends so it was nice that he could help someone else do just that. He wasn't planning on getting better at it, not really. He liked the people he liked and if he found more great, if not, no problem.
There was that famous pout and her arms were folded. Still, her emotions weren't incredibly angry. They were still conflicted and that meant he had a chance.
She sat down and he didn't lean away as he normally did when people sat beside him. He had learned to combat that. She spoke about how he hurt all of them, which he knew. he was supposed to be one of them, so hearing 'all of us' without being included made his heart ache. He lowered his voice, "Raina, I need you to understand that this is very hard for me to say," he took a deep breath, "when I was fifteen I realized I had a gift. A gift that no one else had as far as I knew," his brow furrowed, "I can feel what other people are feeling. Like when you walked in, I could tell you were happy to see me but also still so hurt and I..." he looked down and shook his head, "until very, very recently I couldn't deal with it. That's why I started being more cautious about physical contact," he looked back up at her, "it's stronger if I'm touching someone. And with Irina... being with Irina was like lightning striking every second," he swallowed hard, "it was scary and wonderful and hard. Her emotions were so loud. Our emotions were so loud. And I kissed her and I loved her and I-" he paused. "It all became too much, Rai. And I'm a coward," he explained, "I ran away to sort it out. I started to finally talk to someone about my abilities. I've been learning to control it. I know what to do now. So, I came back," he said slowly.

Raina's pout was firm, she was quite well known for her pout - when Raina pouted, she almost always got her own way and it almost always made someone cave in to working out in her favor, however it was a weapon she rarely used in that way. But when she was sulking - it was firmly in place and right now, she was certainly sulking rather a bit at not being able to feel the way she wanted to in this situation. Honestly - she had adored Daniel immensely and she had loved seeing him and Irina together, he had made her big sister so happy - and then.. something had happened and Daniel had been gone and Irina had been hurting. Still, she was conflicted through everything - wanting to be upset with him but... he had come back and it had been him that reached out to her.
She gave a small sigh, leaning her head against her arms as her brown eyes watch him closely, her ears perking up as he speaks - confused with why he was now speaking quieter as if they were now doing something super secret or saying something that could cause them to end up in trouble. His body language was now more serious and it made her straighten up a little, frowning slightly as she nods, "Okay.." her brow furrows, her head tilts as she listens to him talk about having some kind of gift. It reminded her of the conversation she had with her sister recently about her own kind of gift.
"You can feel.. what I am feeling?" her eyes widened a little, that idea was a little bit of a scary one - shaking her head before going quiet again - eager to listen as he brings up Irina. The mention of her sister was a reminder of the fact that she hadn't told anyone where she was going today but also - she paid close attention to how he was talking and her frown deepened as she watches his face while he speaks. "You.. ran away... you were feeling too much. I get that.. I mean.. kinda, I don't have any gift like that so I don't fully get it and I really don't get why you actually ran away but - things are better now so you're back. " Her lips press into a line, "Do you still love my sister?" The words came out surprisingly blunt as she stares back at him.

Daniel expected her reaction. Surprise, shock, a little fear. She repeated his gift back to him as a question and he nodded once. Then she said that she sort of got it. She was putting it together, why he had run away. He nodded again, showing that she had hit the nail on the head. But then her question about Irina came rather suddenly. His eyes widened for a brief moment and he looked down at the table.
He took a deep breath, then looked back up at her, "yes, I do," he said firmly. That was all he had to answer. Just the flat out truth.
He had never stopped loving Irina, he knew that. There was a time in the last five months where he decided he wasn't going to come back to her, where he was going to let her out of his life because that was better for everyone. In a way, their relationship hadn't been healthy. But they better he got with his powers the more he realized that he could maybe, just maybe have her back.

Raina knew she was pretty much as easy to read as a book, at least to those who knew her - and Daniel, he did know her - even without this gift of his. She might not be a Ravenclaw - but her mind worked fast and it quickly settled in her mind, in the end nothing much was changed - he was still Daniel just, he felt more she guessed. But he was still Daniel just like Irina was still Irina even with her gift. She nodded to herself before staring back at him after she bluntly asked her question.
While she did feel bad about how it had just come out of her mouth so abruptly, she was glad she had said it. It had been on her mind and she knew that her sister still had feelings for him. However complicated things were. She watched him and couldn't help but smile at his answer. She could tell it was the truth and that - well that made things easier and she was certain he could feel that the answer made her happy.
"So.. what are you going to do about it then?" she leaned against the table, her chin resting against her hand, "Does she know you're back yet?" It wasn't really a secret that when they had been together, Raina had been happy about it - she loved them together and she wanted her sister to be happy, Daniel had done that - at least before he had left that was.

She asked what he was going to do about Irina, asking if she knew he was back. He nodded, "we ran into each other the other day... I'm taking her to dinner," he said with a shrug. "I really need to not let myself get carried away, emotions wise, or I'll just make myself sick again. I'll try my best to take it slow but..." he laughed. "But enough about me. How are you? What are your plans for summer?" he asked, wanting to make sure she knew that he cared deeply about her life as well as Irina's. They were practically family, and he didn't have any little sisters, so it was nice to have a sort of sister.

Raina struggled to not smile when she heard that yes her sister already knew he was back, and not only that - but Daniel was taking Irina to dinner sometime soon. The news almost made her completely giddy and while she knew that there was no hiding it from him actually feeling her emotions regarding that news, she was trying her best to not let it show outwardly... much at least. "That's great! I mean, it is great right?" She was a little confused on that part, while she thought it was a great thing.. maybe it wasn't so much as far as her sister and Daniel thought at least - but, he had said that he did still have feelings for Irina, and she knew her sister had feelings there still. Merlin.. her head was starting to hurt with all this thinking.
She gave a small nod, pausing for just a moment before her hand darted across to him, her own hand lightly squeezing his arm, "It'll be okay Daniel - and if I can help.. I mean, I'm not sure how I can help but, if I can let me know.. I don't want you to end up sick because of this stuff or anything. I really don't want you to just.. leave again either." her lips pressed together at the thought, honestly she had really missed him. Daniel had always been basically like another brother to her and she had missed him a lot. "I honestly don't really know.. I'll probably have some family things over Summer. That will be fun, specially as I know Rina will be working hard soon - But... there is something else I'm trying to sort out." She paused before looking back at him, a small frown on her face, "I'm still trying to work out what I want to do.. I have no idea what I want to do after I leave school, and everyone is telling me I have to make my mind up." It was a half full truth, she wanted to continue with her music - but that wasn't a job she knew would work - so she had been trying to work out something else.

Raina said that it was great, then repeated the question to make sure. He chuckled and nodded. "It is great, I think," her emotions were so giddy that he couldn't help but chuckle again. That was one of the reasons why he had always loved being around her. Her emotions were almost addicting. "I think it'll be great, once we work through all the... stuff," he said vaguely, waving his arm.
Suddenly her hand was on his arm and his eyes widened for a slight second as her sympathy and that underlying giddiness burst through him. He took in a deep breath through his nose as she spoke, trying to keep it hidden so she didn't see that he was trying to sort through all her feelings and his own. Her emotions were bright, like a flashlight in his eyes. "Thanks, Rai," he said softly, nodding his head. "I'll try to be more... open this time around," he added. Then, she spoke about her family and how there was something else she needed to sort out. He raised an eyebrow in concern as she mentioned that she was trying to decide what she wanted to do after school. "Why make up your mind? You've got a supportive family, they'll help you get through adulthood until you can figure it out," he shrugged, "I only chose my career because I'm literally not good at anything else, you have options."

It was almost like a switch, now she was giddy and excited, but trying - and mostly failing to hide it, her smile was brighter but it'd be a shock if Daniel wasn't currently able to feel just how happy this made her. "Well, I'm sure it'll be okay." she said simply, shifting slightly in her seat as she grinned back at him, her hand easily grasping onto his arm - of course she still did feel a little sadness and hurt, he had left - but now she understood it and of course, he was back. So, things would be okay now. Wouldn't they?
She shook her head slightly, clearing her thoughts with the action and focusing on the good things again - she was always good at that. Looking on the bright side even through the darkness. "Good. I'll hold you to that Mister." she smiled easily, squeezing his hand before pulling back again - it was nice to have him back, sometimes - as much as she loved her siblings, it could be easier talking to Daniel. While he was often like a brother - he wasn't as much so as her own siblings, she could talk to him a little easier in some ways. Her nose scrunched slightly, pressing her lips together. "Everyone seems to be deciding, but I'm still - a little torn, my professors and even my friends are all talking about deciding and preparing and -" she paused for a moment, shooting him a slight glare, "You Mister... You're good at what you're doing. I heard you made it onto Daddy's old team - that is amazing Danny. Don't sell yourself short, you might be a grown up now and I might be nice but I will kick your booty mister." She gave her finger a quick shake, despite the glare - there was a hint of a smile on her lips. Of course, Raina had been keeping an eye out, although not having heard from him and trying to not talk about him much due to Irina's feelings, she had wanted to know he was okay.

Her giddy emotions were starting to make his heart speed up, and it was starting to not feel so great. She was often like this, though, so a part of him was used to it -- but he was learning to be more careful, so he wouldn't be able to take it much longer. He rubbed his palms together in his lap. Then she said it would be okay, and her hand grabbed his arm. He gasped as her emotions ripped through him harder, even the small tinge of sadness and heart lacing through as well. Finally, she pulled away, and he leaned back, trying to put a little distance between them. She said she'd hold him to being more open, but he couldn't speak yet. She spoke about how she was still torn about what to do with her life and he smirked a little. He knew he was great at Quidditch, he didn't really need the encouragement, but he smiled and appreciated it anyway. "Thanks, Rai. You're an angel," he said, but his breaths were still short. "Speaking of that honesty thing... I've got to get going. A little overwhelmed," he admitted. He stood, taking a step back from her, his smile genuine.
