Jamie hadn't ever really looked forward to graduation. She had liked the idea of getting to play Quidditch as a career and dictate more of her own life, but there were a lot of things about life after Hogwarts that, quite frankly, scared her. She didn't know where she was going to live and she didn't know what she was going to do on the full moons, and now she didn't know what to do about her brother being dead. Jamie hadn't ever been horribly close to Elias, but she had hoped that without the distraction of the Tournament they would be able to spend more time together, and maybe find some common ground. That chance had been taken away from her, and it hurt. Jamie was trying not to become too melancholy about the whole situation, but it was difficult to be happy about her graduation knowing that her brother should have graduated, too. After receiving her diploma, Jamie immediately began searching the crowd for her sister. She had seen Odette briefly when she had been accepting her diploma, and even though Jamie knew that Odette was likely just as upset about Elias's death as she was, the Hufflepuff - no, former Hufflepuff - was in desperate need of some comforting. She knew it wasn't fair, but all Jamie wanted was a hug and for Odette to tell her that everything was going to be okay.

It was a bittersweet day. It was supposed to be a lot happier than this. Why weren't things happy like they were supposed to be lately? It was like blow after blow came down on Odette and her family and it was starting to weigh on her terribly. Elias had died in the Durmstrang ship explosion. Odette was devastated, even if she had not been close to him. After everything she had lost, she couldn't believe this was happening too. But it was Jamie's graduation day. The Great Hall was packed with people so Odette settled for sitting by herself. It would be too hard to find Aaron or Max, or even Teddy and Victoire in this mess. So the former Ravenclaw sat near the middle of the crowd of spectators and cheered as loud as she could when Jamie walked across that stage to receive her diploma. Even if today was a hard day, Odette was proud of Jamie.
The two of them had really changed a lot. At the beginning of their relationship, Odette never would have pictured herself here, cheering on her half-sister through her graduation. And now, she was here planning to ask Jamie to move in with her. The many obstacles life had thrown at Odette had changed her for the better.
After the ceremony, Odette searched through the thinning crowd until she found the blonde. She spotted her when a group of red heads, presumably Weasleys, had parted from in front of her and Odette did a near sprint to her younger sister and threw her arms around her, enveloping her in the biggest hug she had probably ever given the now former Hufflepuff.

Jamie hadn’t been expecting Odette. When the family nearby to her had parted, Jamie hadn’t seen her sister, too focused on making sure she didn’t accidentally get swept up in the wave of some other graduate’s family members. It was only when Odette was a few paces away that Jamie finally saw her sister, who was running towards her at a clip Jamie didn’t think she’d ever seen before. Jamie was simultaneously ready and not ready when Odette swept her up in her arms, the breath rushing out of Jamie as she squeezed her sister tight than she had ever thought possible. Jamie had been right about a hug from Odette being exactly what she needed, because here, in her sister’s arms, she forgot about everything. Love, home, safe were her only thoughts, and they were wonderful, beautiful thoughts after the fear that had been plaguing her since the explosions.
Jamie didn’t know how long it was before she pulled away, but when she did, there were tears streaming down her face. The Hufflepuff wiped them away self-consciously, and then realized there was a good chance that her cheeks weren’t the only things that were wet. “Uh… sorry about your clothes.” She said sheepishly, rubbing at her eyes again. It was weird, not to have noticed that she was crying, but Jamie supposed that when you felt safe, it didn’t really matter whether or not you were crying, because there was going to be someone else there to protect you. “Thank you for coming.” Jamie whispered. She hadn’t ever doubted that Odette would come, not with the way their relationship had been lately, but it still felt right to acknowledge the fact that this would have once been impossible, and Jamie was grateful that it wasn’t impossible anymore.

Having Jamie in her arms for the first time since Odette had heard about Elias felt like sweet relief. All she needed now was the rest of her siblings to engulf her in a giant hug. But right now, Jamie had her attention. And as much sadness was circling around the room on this day, it was still the graduates' day. It was Jamie's day. When the blonde pulled away from her, Odette didn't even notice the dampness of her top until Jamie had apologized for the state of it. Odette shook her head and smiled, "it's okay." Then she simply put her hands on both of the Hufflepuff alum's shoulders and looked her in the eyes. "Before you say anything else... Jamie, I am so proud of you." She said, feeling her own eyes threatening to well up with tears now. How funny it was to think that maybe a year or two ago, the two of them never would have thought they'd be in this position.

Jamie still smiled shyly at her sister when Odette said that the tear stains on her shirt weren’t a problem. She hadn’t expected them to be one, but there was still something strange about being so vulnerable around Odette – and all the other people that were at graduation and could see that she was crying if they chose to look. Odette had something to say before Jamie got in another word, and the Hufflepuff looked at her sister, waiting obediently for Odette to finish her thought. When her older sister said that she was proud of Jamie, the Hufflepuff’s smile morphed into something bigger and brighter. “Thank you.” Jamie whispered. “I’m just – I’m so glad you’re here.” Jamie said, her voice starting out strong and proud but fading to something quieter and almost scared-sounding by the end. Admitting that she and Odette hadn't been close before and she might not have come felt weird. “I couldn’t have done any of this without you, Odette.” Even if her sister had really only been a part of her family for the past year, it made all the difference to Jamie. “I’m glad you’re my sister.” She added.

Hearing that Jamie was glad that she was there was like music to Odette. When they first met, Odette was anything but nice to Jamie and anyone else probably would have had an extremely hard time forgiving her for the things she had done, if they ever did at all. But with Jamie, it wasn't even a question as to whether she could forgive her. Odette admired Jamie for so much but above all she admired her sister for her selflessness, despite all that had happened in her own life. Odette wished she could be like that. Odette smiled widely at her sister, her hands on her shoulders. "I couldn't still be standing if it weren't for you, either," she said. Jamie had really helped Odette through the difficult time when she had lost the baby. With Ted and Vic being MIA and Royal being busy with work, she had no one really to talk to but Max and Jamie and she had been so thankful for her sisters being there for her. "I'm glad you're my sister, too, Jamie." She pulled her sister into yet another tight hug, one that took a moment longer for her to pull away from.
When the Ravenclaw alum finally did pull away, she still smiled at Jamie but it had the smallest hint of mischievousnsess. "Jamie, I have something I want to ask you."

Jamie had been worried that she and Odette were just going to fall off into a pit of mushiness, which she wouldn’t have exactly minded, but she liked what was happening a lot better – concise declarations of how important they were to each other. That felt much more genuine than oversentimentality. Jamie took a deep breath when Odette pulled away from her, not because she couldn’t breathe when her sister hugged her, but because it felt like a new start. People were always talking about how graduation was a new chapter in her life, but Jamie hoped that it was a new chapter in her relationships, too – a way to put the strained relationships of years past out of her mind permanently. Odette said that she had something she wanted to ask her, and the Hufflepuff furrowed her eyebrows. “Okay…?” Jamie asked, totally oblivious to what the question could be.
