First Year, September 2011
Hogwarts was everything that Cyrus had dreamed it up to be. He had been sorted into Slytherin, of course, like the majority of his mother's side of the family before him. He was having the time of his eleven year old life as he exited the Great Hall after lunch, the idea of going off to find his other friends in the courtyard coming to mind. Cyrus's favorite part of the castle was the grounds. Not only because the young boy had always enjoyed being outdoors, but because the grounds led straight to the Quidditch pitch and that was where Cyrus saw himself some day. Cyrus aspired to hopefully one day become a Quidditch player but he knew he couldn't try out for the Slytherin team for at least another year or two. Luckily, Cyrus was a patient lad. So Cyrus was off to the courtyard as he crossed the Entrance Hall. He rounded the corner around the staircase and then, as if out of nowhere, collided nearly head on to someone going the opposite direction. Cyrus opened his mouth to apologize, but his words got lost somewhere as he met eyes with the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.

Eleanor Percival could not believe the past few months she had had. First, some strange person dressed in what looked like a long velvet dress had come to her family flat in London with a letter to a school she had never heard of called Hogwarts. Then, the person had told her she was Professor Minerva McGonagall, and that she was there to explain the fact that she was a WITCH, and take her and her family to some place called Diagonally, or something, to buy her school supplies. It had passed by in such a crazy blur that Eleanor could hardly remember what everything was called. Her mother and brother had been surprised, especially her brother who was older than her, but her father...well, he had been so supportive. Eleanor had always been a daddys girl though, so she wasn’t all that surprised. The way he had looked when Professor McGonagall had hurried them through the crowds, helping them buy everything she needed for her first year. Then came the train ride from Kings Cross. She had been given a beautiful silver silken headband by her mother which said neatly on her perfectly curled chestnut brown hair, and she had donned her new school robes quite quickly into the journey. She had made friends with a girl her own age rather quickly, who told her her cousin was starting too, and that he was somewhere on the train. Ellie never got the chance to meet him and in the shuffle she and her new friend were put on separate boats up to the castle.
As she waited anxiously in the line of first years to place the mad, singing Sorting Hat on top of her head, she watched every person as they were Sorted, analyzing them to see what sort of impression she got. While in line, she had spotted someone a few people ahead of her. With sleek brown hair, and piercing brown eyes, he was easily the most beautiful boy she had ever laid eyes on, and she had met professional football players. She tried to push her way up to the front of the line to talk to him, but his name, Ellsworth, Cyrus was called before she could reach him. Ellsworth...he was her new friends cousin! Sadly, he was Sorted into Slytherin, while Ellie went off to Ravenclaw with his cousin. During their first meal, Ellie couldn’t help but sneak glances over at the Slytherin table, wondering if he had noticed her at all.
The weeks passed by, Ellie completely forgetting about the handsome boy in Slytherin with all this brand new magic she was learning. She was walking alone down the stairs when she nearly collided headfirst with someone. “Watch where-” she began to snap, but her voice caught in her throat. “S-sorry,” she stammered, giggling nervously as she realized it was Cyrus Ellsworth who had knocked her over. “I’m Ellie...Eleanor Percival,” she added quickly, extending a free hand for him to shake.

Seeing this girl standing in front of him left the young Slytherin momentarily speechless. It took him a moment to realize that he had seen her before, around the castle with his cousin who was in Ravenclaw. He glanced at the Ravenclaw robes on the brunette in front of him and had his thoughts confirmed. This had to be his cousin's new friend! Though he had not even talked to his cousin enough to get the girl's name. Luckily, the girl introduced herself as Eleanor Percival and Cyrus smiled in response as he took her hand to shake.
"I'm Cyrus Ellsworth," Cy said happily as he met her eyes. From afar in the Great Hall, he could never quite make out just how beautiful she was. The young man could not quite ever remember feeling such a way for a girl before. There was just something about Eleanor Percival... "You're in Ravenclaw?" He asked, gesturing to her robes. "My cousin's in Ravenclaw," he said a little lamely, realzing for the first time how oddly nervous he was.

“Yes I know who you are,” Ellie breathed, then blushed a little. “I’m friends with your cousin! We met on the train ride up here and she told me her cousin was starting too. She was expecting you to come and visit with her, so you could have met me earlier.” Her words were rushed but with each one she spoke with more confidence. She tilted her head to the side and looked at him pointedly. The school bell rang and Eleanor jumped with a squeak. “Ooh I have Charms and I get hopelessly lost every time I’ve tried getting there, I better be off,” she said apologetically. She turned on her heel and began to walk off, but something stopped her. She turned back around and gave a little wave. “I’ll see you around!” she called, then rushed away to her class, hoping the blush on her cheeks was receding. --------TIME JUMP--------- Second year, and it was the first mixed Charms class Eleanor had been in, their first year having been separated by house to get them used to the practice. The professor had paired each of them up with someone from the opposite house to practice, and they were with the Slytherins. Someone slid into the seat next to her, and Ella looked up to see that it was none other than Cyrus Ellsworth. She hadn’t had too much interaction with him over the past year, but it didn’t help that she tended to blush every time he caught her looking at him. So she did what most twelve year olds do when they’re stubbornly refusing to admit their crush. “I hope you don’t set my robes on fire or anything,” she told him, rolling her eyes as if being paired with him was such a chore. @cyrus

Did she just say she knew who he was? This girl knew who he was? When she said that she was friends with his dear cousin, Cyrus's eyebrows rose slightly in surprise. He was a little disappointed that he hadn't gone to visit his cousin sooner... "Well, I'll have to make up for lost time I suppose," he said a little lamely. Of course, if spending time with his cousin meant spending more time with this cute girl, he gladly would. When the bell rang, Cyrus almost didn't notice. Though he did notice Eleanor's squeak, followed by her apology for having to run. Cyrus stood waving to the brunette as she rushed off to her class, unable to shake the butterflies he felt in his stomach.
--------TIME JUMP---------
Cyrus had been rather excited for the mixed classes his second year. In his first year, he had made plenty of friends in other houses so the idea of getting to be in class with some of them was exciting. Walking in to Charms class, Cyrus quickly spotted his cousin waving at him and immediately realized that the Slytherins were paired with the Ravenclaws. Cyrus's eyes quickly searched the room for the brunette friend his cousin was always around and when he found her, he slid in the seat next to her with a bright smile. Cyrus had not interacted much with the cute Ravenclaw known as Eleanor Percival much in the year since he had met her, but he always got an overwhelming feeling of happiness whenever he was around her. Even if Eleanor was occasionally hard to impress. When the Ravenclaw rolled her eyes at him, Cyrus couldn't help the small smile on his twelve year old face. "Me? I'd be more worried about you blowing something up," he teased, raising an eyebrow at her.

Eleanor puffed up indignantly as Cyrus said he was more concerned about her blowing something up than anything else, before realizing he was joking. She could feel the pink tinge of an embarrassed blush creep up on her cheeks, and she tossed her curly hair behind her shoulders, trying to concentrate on the spell at hand. “We need to be working on the charm Ellsworth,” she said snippily. She raised her wand and cleared her throat. “Engorgio!” she commanded clearly, jabbing her wand at the sugar bowl in front of them. It began to grow, and her face lit up in delight. Suddenly, it emitted a strange sound and shrunk back to its normal size. Eleanors’ face fell immediately; she was SO sure she had gotten it right! She looked over towards Callisto Oliviera; they had unofficially been declared rivals since they were paired up in Charms class in their first week at Hogwarts. She turned her gaze quickly over at Cyrus’ face, hoping he wasn’t laughing at her.
“I want to try again,” she declared, rolling up the sleeves of her wand. She glanced down at their textbook that was in between the pair, making sure she did everything right. As she inhaled, she smelled what appeared to be some sort of...scent coming from Cyrus. It wasn’t bad or anything, it was actually quite nice. She felt the blush creep up on her cheeks again and she quickly moved away. “Engorgio!” she said once more, giving her wand a flick instead of a jab. To her delight, the sugar bowl grew, and this time stayed large. She beamed, looking over at Cyrus. “I did it!” she said happily, and before she knew what she was doing she threw her arms over his shoulders to hug him. Immediately she inhaled, and drew back, embarrassed. “Sorry! I just got so excited,” she muttered. “Your turn,” she added quickly, busying herself with the textbook and hoping her didn’t hear how loud her heart was beating.
