The May sun beat down harshly on Aaron's dark hair as he walked the streets of Diagon Alley. He really had no plans for the day as he meandered through the streets. He had withdrawn a few galleons from Gringott's to pay for more Wolfsbane Potion. Maybe he would stop by Madame Malkin's and see if Ophelia was working. He was always happy to see her and it would get him out of the summer heat. But as he looked in the window of the store, all he saw was an unfamiliar young woman. He moved on, wondering where to go next. That was the problem with not having a gameplan. He would spend all day just wandering around Diagon Alley and accomplishing nothing. Finally, he decided to visit the Magical Menagerie. He had never been one for keeping pets, but maybe now was the time to do so. It would at least distract him for a little while and maybe convince him to keep his flat clean. He entered the store, relishing the sweet feel of air conditioning on his blistered face. He walked among the mass array of animals, trying to find something, if anything, he could call his own.

The school year had ended abruptly and among a lot of stress and sadness, but now the holidays were already in full swing and Riku and his brother had managed to already make a trip to Diagon Alley. Riku had several Galleons in his pocket to spend, although most of the money he had been given had already been spent and he was now carrying around several items, mostly art supplies and a few other things that had looked interesting to use over the break. Riku had been wandering around Diagon Alley with his brother for most of the morning, but now he found himself on his own.
While his brother was checking out a few things in a Quidditch Supply store, Riku decided to explore around the Magical Menagerie, peering at the smaller animals - a wide smile on his face, he already had a tiny owl of his own that came along to school with him each year - but maybe if he was lucky he could convince his mother to allow him to get another pet sometime soon. For now he was just looking and thinking about getting a few treats to take home for Rue, he didn't have much money left after all so it was probably wiser if he didn't pay too much attention to the animals right away.
He had just been looking at some of the owl treats available, shifting the items he had brought in his arms as he took a step back - deciding he might just take one more peek at a few animals, he should be heading outside soon anyways to meet up with Ryo - but as he stepped back from the shelves he stumbled, tripping slightly and falling backwards - bumping into someone.
"Oh - I'm so sorry!" His eyes widened as he turned, peering up at whoever he had bumped into, "I didn't mean to - I tripped and -" he shuffled the things in his arms as he spoke.

Aaron bent over to check out some rainbow-colored lizards. He had never really been a fan of reptiles, but he was fascinated by the tiny creatures, watching their colors swirl and shift as they moved. He smiled and lightly tapped the glass, making one of the smaller lizards look at him and timidly approach the glass. He tapped it again, and the lizard darted away, hiding under a hollow rock. He chuckled lightly and straightened up, just in time for someone to bump into him. He stumbled back in surprise, catching himself before he knocked over a supply of aquarium rocks. He looked around for the person that bumped into him before finally looking down and realizing it was a teenager who was currently sputtering out apologies.
"It's all good, kid," he said good-naturedly, cutting off the word vomit of apologies. He carefully readjusted the bags that he had bumped into lest the owner of the shop throw a fit. He looked down at the boy again and noticed that his arms were full of a mass of items. His lips twitched into a frown. "Do you need help with some of that?" he asked.

Riku's mind had been working non-stop since his holidays had began, they had started on a rather stressful note - the sudden ending of the school year had already been a shock, but when their mother had met the twins on the platform there had been something else added that sent a shock to his system. For a long time Riku had wondered about their father, although he had stopped asking questions - he had still had them and there was just a wonder about not knowing. Now though - he had many answers, he knew who his father was - and there was a name that ran through his mind now. Greyback. It was a name that had a spark of familiarity to it, he was sure he had heard the name before - and he knew there were a few students still at Hogwarts with that same name. It made him nervous for the next school year, would they even be able to say something? Should they? Maybe it would be better not to.. he had his worries and his fears about it all.
The trip to Diagon Alley had been arranged to be somewhat of a distraction for the boys, something Riku had jumped at. He had always loved going to Diagon Alley, but when his mind was a jumble of worries and thoughts it always did seem to help - and it had for the most part been rather successful, until now at least when Riku found himself ending up a little clumsy and bumping into a stranger. "I.. are you sure? I didn't knock you or anything?" Riku frowned slightly, concerned about his stumble - he didn't want to get into trouble or get the other in trouble with the shop owner either, his eyes darted slightly before lighting up as he caught sight of the lizards, "They look so cool." He shook his head quickly - having ended up distracted he heard the question - the faint offer of help. "I.. maybe I do." He glanced at his arms, struggling to hold onto his things, he had two books and several drawing supplies he had picked up, along with some new parchment and other paper. Now he also had a few more things - treats and supplies for his owl.

Aaron just chuckled. He remembered what it was like to be that young and he had been a nervous child himself, always second-guessing everything he did and fretting over every mistake he made. He had mostly grown out of those habits, but the memories still remained. "Really, it's alright. No harm, no foul," he assured with a smile. He felt bad for the teenager, who seemed overwhelmed both by bumping into him and by all the parcels in his hands. Without asking, Aaron reached out and grabbed the owl supplies, tucking everything into the crook of his arm and freeing up the boy's hands. "How about I carry these for you? At least for a little while." He smiled again. "What's your name, kid?"

Riku wasn't always like this, a little scattered maybe but nervousness was uncertainty was a bit newer for him. He felt unlike himself and he had been stressing himself out far too much recently and it was starting to have an effect on him. Still he felt a little more like himself as he shot a quick smile back at the man when he spoke and gave an assuring smile, "I.. thanks, I didn't mean to bump into you." He lightly spoke, another silent apology in his words - he really felt bad about it and the fact that he was feeling rather overwhelmed really wasn't helping Riku all that much. As his hands were relieved of a few of the burdens he gives a brighter grin, certainly thankful for the help.
"Thank you - that would be awesome. You dont mind?" He felt he had to ask - to check it was really okay, for all he knew his new company might have been about to leave the store before Riku had bumped into him, "Oh - I'm Riku. Riku Ichikawa." He straightened up as he introduced himself, carefully adjusting the remaining things he was holding, it was much easier now he had less to juggle in his arms. "I really appreciate the help Mr...?" He trailed off slightly, realizing that while he had introduced himself he didn't yet know his companions name.

It felt good to see the kid's face light up as some of his burden was relieved. Aaron didn't mind at all. The items he was now holding weren't heavy at all and it was hardly an inconvenience to hold them. He would've carried all of the boy's items, but he didn't want to embarrass the boy. He had always been insanely independent as a teenager, refusing to accept help from anyone, and he had to imagine that the current generation was the same way. "It's really no trouble," he said kindly, shuffling the items in his hands to put them in a more comfortable position.
When the boy introduced himself, Aaron groaned internally. He hated introductions, especially those that included surnames. He had introduced himself to many people in the past. The reaction was always the same. He was met with a terrified stare followed by a hasty excuse to get out of his presence. But it was also rude not to introduce himself when Riku had. "I'm Aaron," he said hesitantly. "Aaron Greyback." And he waited for the boy to run in the opposite direction.

Riku was feeling much better now that he had less to hold onto, he hadn't planned to get so much though but now he was starting to struggle at least until he happened upon some help. He was grateful to have actually bumped into someone who was actually nice and didn't get mad at him for the incident. "Still - thank you anyways. I was worried I might drop some of my things." he gave another quick smile, his eyes darting around curiously - the store was surprisingly crowded but then with the sudden early end of the school year maybe it wasn't all that surprising.
He had been taught to always use his manners and despite having said he was thankful he hadn't introduced himself which was a bit of a surprise to himself. So it was only natural to do so. But when he got his companions name he was surprised for sure. Honestly he hadn't thought it possible that he might just randomly bump into someone with that name. Greyback. Greyback. His last name was Greyback. That was the name! The name of his father, the name his older siblings likely all had as well - then again, him and Ryo didn't have the name so.. there was a chance that his siblings might not have it as well. His reaction was a little slow, his surprise was obvious but then he smiled. A reaction likely that wasn't expected.
"For real? That's your name?" He questioned before smiling brightly once again, shifting his things to be able to hold his hand out to shake, "Its a pleasure to meet you Aaron Greyback." His mind was still running, trying to work out what he should do - should he tell him about who his biological father was too? Should he bring up that they likely were siblings? Or half siblings but - still siblings.

Aaron thought about the first time he had ever told someone his last name. It had been his babysitter. The very first night he met her, she had accidentally called him Aaron Silva, his mother's surname. He had proudly corrected her, telling her his last name was Greyback, not Silva. He was very confused, of course, when she gave him a frightened look and immediately called his mother home. She never bothered to explain the significance of the matter, just telling him that the babysitter was unprepared for such a special boy. After that, the reactions became customary, especially once he became a werewolf. The healers at St. Mungo's had been afraid to touch him, scared that the son of Fenrir Greyback must be a monster as well. He was used to it.
What he was not used to was the smile the boy gave him. The surprise, yes, but not the smile. Aaron's eyebrow crooked in confusion, and he took a step back, a little unnerved by the teenager's response. Maybe it was some kind of pubescent challenge the boy thought he had just encountered, but Aaron didn't know. Now he was the one confused and a little scared. People didn't respond that way when he said his name. They just didn't. He hesitantly reached out his free hand to shake Riku's, still a little unsure. "Yeah," he confirmed, "that's my name." Unfortunately.

Riku had, like many other wizarding children - had heard about Fenrir Greyback. Often his name was spoken of in scary stories - warnings to be careful on fullmoon nights, and later it simply became a name to be wary of. But even before finding out that this same Greyback from the stories he had been told happened to be his father, Riku had asked questions. He had never been one to fully believe in judging someone by something so little such as a name or where they were from. So why judge someone because of who their parent happened to be? You never really got to choose who you were born to, so why blame a child for such a thing? It made no sense to him, so he simply judged people on how they acted and treated those around them. If they weren't a nice person - let it be their actions and choices that decided that instead.
Still, this was likely one of his siblings - the first one he was getting to meet - at least, other than Elias who he hadn't known was a sibling when they had met. He was happy, he was excited and nervous all at once. And then he realized how it must be a bizarre thing - the way he acted in response and his face burned as he noticed Aaron stepping back. "I-I'm sorry, would it be okay if we spoke for a little?" he tilted his head, trying to reel in all of the feelings and not act completely weird right now. "I..Was Elias your brother..?" perhaps this was a better way to get some information, if Elias was his brother - then it'd make sense that Aaron was indeed likely one of his half siblings. "I.. I met him last year at school, he.. he had promised I could write to him over the summer but.." his face saddened as he pulls his hand back, clutching his packages in his arms. He felt bad for bringing it up now.

The boy was strange, to say the least. No one got that curious about the name "Greyback" unless they were sadistically curious as to how many people Aaron had killed. The number was, thankfully, zero and he planned to keep it that way. He unconsciously patted the pocket of his pants and heard the reassuring clink! of his wolfsbane potion nestled within. He was as harmless as a kitten as long as he had it, even without the threat of the full moon looming over him. Maybe, he took a bit too much; his bill at St. Mungo's certainly agreed. But it was all necessary.
Aaron nodded, still wary, when Riku asked if they could talk. It wasn't like he had much of a choice. He was still holding the boy's belongings, casually shifting them from one arm to the other when they became and inconvenience. It would be rude to hastily excuse himself and force the kid to hold all of the items again. His mother had raised him better than that.
"I..Was Elias your brother..?"
The question hit Aaron like a freight train. He stumbled a bit, recoiling from the thought. Yes, Elias was his brother, emphasis on was. Once more, Aaron was filled with overwhelming sadness at the loss of his younger half-brother. He had only known Elias for a short time, but he was family. And now he was gone, and Aaron couldn't help but to blame himself for his brother's demise. He sighed heavily, his heart as heavy as his breath. "I had a brother named Elias. He's dead," Aaron said flatly. He didn't mean to be rude, but talking about Elias struck a raw nerve with him. "How did you know Elias?" he asked, his own curiosity getting the better of him.

Riku was well aware that his reaction was probably rather bizarre and he probably looked completely weird right now, because he had actually smiled when he found out Aaron's last name. He was well aware, after much research on his own time when he had gotten home from the train station that the name Greyback, it was filled with a dark past - because of his father and the things he had done. Honestly - Riku kind of hoped he never did meet his father, the man was indeed a rather scary person from everything he had further learned during his research. But now - now there was a very likely chance that he had randomly met one of his half-siblings, and - how was he not meant to be happy about that?
Seeing Aaron nod, he gave another smaller smile - relief obvious on his face as he shifted the things he was still holding, partly sending a thanks that Aaron was even still holding his things. He had a moment of fear that he might have scared Aaron away - judging by the reaction he had after the intoduction. Then, he watched after asking about Elias. The reaction was more than Riku had expected and instantly he felt utterly horrible for speaking the others name, his face dropped as he reaches a hand out before quickly withdrawing it, scared that Aaron would reject the touch. He clearly hadn't known Elias as well as Aaron had, but from what he had known - and with the new knowledge that Elias had been his brother - he felt his own version of loss of what he could have had and how it was taken away.
"I.. met him at school. During the Triwizard Tournament.. He was nice to me, he said I could write to him if I had more questions." His head dropped as he spoke, remembering the conversations and he remembered waving as the other students left - he shifted his things before reaching into his pocket, pulling out a crumpled note and holding it out for Aaron to see - on it was a simple message - as he had said, saying to write if he had more questions and signed off with Elias's name. "I asked a lot of other students things, about their school and things like that - Elias was always nice and answered me - he didn't get mad like some others did." Riku paused, taking a deep breath before continuing, "After I got off the train I found out something else though."

Aaron looked down at the message in Riku's hand and almost lost the tiny fragment of sanity that was still clinging to reality. His eyes scanned the words on the page, reading them over and over again, landing on Elias's signature and then darting away. He couldn't do it, couldn't see what might be the last note his half-brother had ever written. He wanted to snatch it from Riku's hand and take it from the boy who wasn't worthy of its words. But that would be rude, and even though his mind was crumbling to pieces, he kept his composure.
He stared at the boy, taking in his face, his stature, everything. The boy couldn't know, could never understand what the Greyback pack had been through. It was heartless to want to yell at the kid when he didn't understand. Everything Aaron had been through, both as a teenager himself and as an adult meeting his siblings for the first time, was all culminating into a nasty, festering head. He wasn't sure how much more he could take. Then the boy spoke again, and Aaron found himself hanging on to every word, much like he had to the words in Elias's letter.
"What?" he asked. Just one word. One little word. But in that word was every question Aaron had been dying to ask since he returned to Britain.

Riku had always been an observant and kind hearted kid, although it was clearly trying to be hidden - as he held out the message and watched Aaron's face he could see the pain and the fact that Aaron was trying to push emotions aside. It made him instantly feel bad about showing the note - that fact that it was Riku himself currently causing any kind of pain right now was something he hated and immediatly wanted to try and make better. Merlin.. Ryo would be doing such a better job at this than he was right now. But he had already caused the man pain - the man who was very likely related to him - one of his half siblings even. He had to keep going - at least then he would have spoken the truth.
Maybe that would make something even a little bit better. He gave a shaky sigh, straightening his back as he carefully folds the note again, not wanting to crumple it or damage it further, "After the... attacks and what happened - my mother.. she spoke to me and my brother when we got off the train. We... We never knew who our biological father was." His eyes dart around them, this was obviously a crazy place to have this conversation but at least no one was paying any attention to the two of them. "She told us who he was and that.." his voice wavers, shooting Aaron a quick look, god he didnt' want to upset him anymore, this was such a stupid conversation to be having and - what if Aaron thought he was lying? What if he hated him? "She told us his name.. and that.. we don't share his name but... she recognized Elias's and it was his name and.." He took several quick breaths, now it was him struggling to keep his emotions in check.

Aaron stared at the boy before him, waiting for him to say what Aaron had already deduced. This innocent boy, who had appeared to him about of nowhere, was another spawn of Fenrir Greyback. He listened calmly, even as the boy started to lose control of his emotions. Riku's mother had done the same thing Aaron's had tried to do. But at least the boy's mother was still alive to tell him herself. Aaron was told through a hastily written letter as he lay in a hospital bed clinging to life. He was the son of a monster, and so was Riku. It was almost funny. Riku looked nothing like their father or like Aaron. Incredibly, Fenrir seemed to pass nothing on to his children except his bloodline.
"Shit," Aaron said under his breath as Riku trailed off. He looked the boy in the eyes and shook his head. "Welcome to the pack, kid. You're a Greyback," he said bitterly. He knelt down so that he was level with the young boy. Without thinking, he used his free hand to draw Riku into a strong hug. "You're my brother," he said quietly. @riku
