Will hadn't seen Jamie in months. They still wrote letters, albeit a bit sparingly, because he had decided to get involved more in the muggle world of politics and royal life. He quit his job at Gringotts and dived in, not wanting to drag her along with him. That wasn't fair to her, and he needed to make the time for his duties, anyway. But, he was trying to balance the two lives better now. He was still heavily involved in muggle affairs, but he knew he still wanted to help the Order of the Phoenix, especially after the attacks on the Beauxbatons carriage and Durmstrang ship. Plus, he didn't want his siblings thinking he was going to abandon them to a war in the wizarding world. He needed to be there, accessible and aware of everything going on. He wanted Edmund and Lu not to go back to the school, but they weren't relenting. Plus, another part of him felt it was better for them to get a good education in magic if they were fighting a magical war anyway. He wished he could get a job at the school to be with them, though... but he also knew he couldn't do that. Not with his muggle responsibilities. Jamie had graduated, though, and it was now summer which made it much easier for them to be able to get together and catch up. He invited her to the pub in Godrics Hollow for lunch. He didn't want to do a muggle pub and he didn't necessarily want to do a the Leaky or the Broomsticks either. Godrics Hollow was a cool place, and the pub was small and homey. He waited outside, hoping that this lunch went well. They were still friends, of course, and even though feelings were put on hold he didn't think she was upset about that. Still, he worried a little. @jamie

Jamie was less nervous than she had expected to be that day. It was true that she hadn’t seen Will in months – he was busy, and even if he hadn’t been, she was busy studying for exams that never came – but that didn’t bother her as much as she expected it to. They had still written, though not nearly as many or as long of letters as they had done in their first few weeks of acquaintance. It was just… what it was, really, and Jamie couldn’t find a reason to regret that they had done what was healthiest for both of them. Through the course of their letters, Jamie had mentioned that she was interested in a girl, but hadn’t told Will her name, or how far their relationship had progressed. Jamie had told Liona that there was no reason to hide past relationships, and she still agreed with it, but it was strange to be on such shaky ground. She liked to know where she stood in relationships, and sometimes that was difficult with the elusive Slytherin. That didn’t matter right now, though, because Jamie hardly expected to spend her time with Will talking about her romantic conquests. She just wanted to see him.
When she approached the pub at Godric’s Hollow, Jamie’s breath caught in her throat. Seeing him made her realize just how long it had been, and it took Jamie a moment to remember how to breathe. She forced herself not to just run and fling herself into his arms, because that would be strange, and she also wanted to be able to appreciate the reunion, and not have it happen in a tangle of surprised limbs. Jamie smiled at Will when she finally got in comfortable speaking distance. “It’s good to see your face.” She said, blushing slightly as she realized that was an atypical greeting. So much had happened since Jamie and Will had last seen each other, but that didn’t change how good it was to see him.

When his eyes found her approaching, he swallowed hard. It had been months, and for some reason he thought that would make seeing her have less of an effect on him. It did quite the opposite. His mind rushed over the few short times they'd spent together and how it was cut short so suddenly. They had no semblance of closure, really, and that was more clear than ever right now. She looked so grown up too. Not that she didn't back in December, but it was different now. She wasn't a student anymore. He took a few steps to meet her, then stopped as she said it was good to see his face. Red tinted her cheeks and he felt his own warm a little, too. He shrugged modestly, "it's a pretty good face, I hear," he joked. Then he chuckled and shook his head, taking the necessary steps to move toward her and wrap his arms around her shoulders in a hug. "It's really good to see you," he said, giving her a tight squeeze before pulling back again, bringing his arms back to his sides. He smiled, "and your face."@jamie

Jamie smiled when Will said that he heard his face was a pretty good face. She wasn’t sure she was ready to agree, at least not verbally, because that would make this whole thing so much more real. She’d be lying if she said that she didn’t have a lot of feelings for Will still, but the fact that she was with Liona made the whole thing so much more complicated. She didn’t want to disrespect her relationship with the Slytherin by flirting so blatantly with someone else, but she wasn’t sure she knew how to be around Will and not flirt with him, or at least feel so warm. He wrapped his arms around her, and Jamie responded to the hug, trying not to squeeze Will too tight. She doubted that she could hurt him – it seemed like he had grown new muscles in his time as a knight, but maybe that was all in her head. “So much has happened.” Jamie breathed when they separated. She wished that she knew why she said that. Part of her whispered that so much had happened, but she still felt the same, but another part of her just lamented that there was even more they had to surmount before they could get the closure they needed.

Will was relieved that she hugged him back. Not that he thought she wouldn't but it was still nice to know she wasn't wanting to push him away. She said so much had happened as they pulled away and he nodded, but he let a hand take her arm just under her shoulder, lightly. "Things have been rather hectic on my end, too," he agreed, pursing his lips to the side and his eyebrows furrowing together. After another moment he released her arm. "Let's head in, better to talk about stomach churning things when there is actually food in said stomach," he chuckled. He stepped around her to open the door, gesturing for her to go in ahead of him. Will was realizing he had definitely experienced an interesting last year. He was so in love with Isla, so in love, and then they decided to break it off for a number of reasons. Then, as if out of nowhere, he was seeing Claire again and wondering if something could happen. It didn't. Then Jamie. It was sudden and intense, almost like it wasn't real. A part of him thought maybe it could have been a dream, but seeing her again reminded him that it wasn't. @jamie

Jamie was glad that she wasn’t the only one whose life had changed too quickly – Will said that things had been hectic for him, too, and that relaxed her somewhat. She was also glad of his suggestion to go inside the pub – if they didn’t get in soon, chances were they were just going to spend their entire time together outside chatting. Somehow, everything was easier to face with a table and plates of food between them, kind of like armor. It was weird, though, because Jamie wasn’t a guarded person, and she didn’t feel like she ever needed armor, least of all with Will. But having it still made her feel better, which was a conundrum.
She entered the pub when Will held the door open for her, smiling a little at him as she did so. The place was mostly empty, probably because most people seemed to forget that it existed when there were other, more popular places like The Leaky Cauldron and The Three Broomsticks to go to. Jamie lead the pair into a booth in the back corner, far away from anyone who would look in and see Sir Lord William Peter Windsor and try to distract them from their conversation together. Once they were settled, Jamie looked at Will, searching for something to say. “One of my brothers moved away and another one of them died. And my third brother moved back to England after disappearing for months.” Jamie informed him, deciding if they were doing the catching up thing she might as well not beat around the bush.

Will settled in and looked up at her, letting her speak first. He nodded as she mentioned her brothers dying and moving away. He didn't know about the moving away, part. And then she spoke of one coming back, Aaron, he guessed. "Adrian moved away? Where?" he asked. He knew Adrian, of course. They were in a house together and played Quidditch, though not at the same time. It was hard not to notice anyone who spent their time with Lily, too. He frowned, his brow furrowing in thought, "and I... I'm so sorry," he said, in reference to Elias Greyback. He didn't know that guy at all, but he was still Jamie's brother. When he had heard the news he had gotten so involved with trying to deal with it from the Orders end, not to mention finding himself facing more precautions on the muggle end, that it was hard to talk to anyone at the time. It was still such a new thing. "I'm just trying to help run a country," he said, sitting up a little straighter, "it's not easy work. I have enough power that some people listen to me, but not enough power to really make big changes. And knowing all the danger on this side of things... that makes things very hard. And scary," he admitted. @jamie

Will correctly guessed which of her brothers had moved away, and Jamie felt slightly warm for a moment, still somewhat surprised that he remembered that. “America. His mum moved, and he couldn’t leave her.” Jamie hoped that her voice was as free of bitterness as her thoughts were. The first few weeks without Adrian had been hard, especially for Lily, but at the end of the day, Jamie respected the decision her brother had made, even if she still missed him terribly. Will apologized for Elias’s death, and Jamie just moved her head in a fraction of a nod. “It’s – well, not fine, but I just… wanted everything to be on the table.” Jamie said. She didn’t want the subject of family to come up accidentally and for her to choke up or something and leave Will wondering what was going wrong. Will said that he had spent his time trying to run a country, puzzling over his power and how it wouldn’t let him make the changes he wanted. “There’s no such thing as a small change, Will.” Jamie said, attempting to be comforting but knowing it could be construed as something else. She wasn’t sure what – maybe overly idealistic? But as far as Jamie was concerned, every small change was a step in the right direction, which didn’t make it small at all. And getting so discouraged that you didn’t even make so-called small changes, then nothing ever happened. “Hard and scary are two words that describe my life well right now.” Jamie agreed. “I think it’s easier when you have people you care about with you, though.” She offered. Will had his siblings, and hopefully, her, if he would let her be a part of his life more permanently this time around. She didn’t really care what form their relationship took – if they stumbled back into being lovers then she would take it, but Jamie just wanted to be near Will, whatever that looked like now.

Will simply nodded with understanding as Jamie said that Adrian had moved with his mother. That made sense. If parents moved then so did their children who still lived with them. Still, that definitely added another level to all that was going on with Jamies family, as well as Lily Potter. She spoke about how there was no such thing as small change, clearly trying to make him feel validated for what was going on in his life and how it was vastly different than what was going on in hers. "Yeah... yeah," he said slowly, agreeing with her. It was true, of curse. His life changes weren't any better or worse than hers, they were just different. She spoke about how hard and scary described her life well now, too and his brow furrowed. But then his lip curled into a smile as she said it was easier when you had people you cared about. "That's true. I've been... mostly spending time with my family," he explained. It was then that the waitstaff member arrived and Will ordered some food, "I'll pay, Jamie," he insisted, nodding toward her so she could order. Once they left he turned his attention back to Jamie, "so, Quidditch, huh? Congratulations."@jamie

Will agreed with what she said about no change being a small change, and Jamie reached over to squeeze his hand gently. It was one thing to know something intellectually, but another thing to feel it emotionally, so she could understand his hesitance in accepting it. It would take time, Jamie knew, and the fact so many things were changing in big, noticeable ways probably wasn’t helping Will feel like his changes were important. He said that he was spending time with his family, and Jamie promptly thought of a question. “What’s Susan doing now that she’s graduated?” Jamie asked curiously. She had met Will’s younger sister in the library after their brief… whatever it was, and obviously they knew of each other since they were in the same year, but Jamie hadn’t been able to ask all of her year mates what their plans were once they got out of school, especially since their graduation had been moved up and there was less time for shooting the breeze. The waitstaff came to take their order, and Jamie gave her order after Will did. “I’ll let you pay, as long as we agree that this isn’t a romantic date.” Jamie said. She didn’t think that either of them had that preconception, but she was sure that there would be people who thought that when she relayed the story of their lunch to them, so having the extra clarification would definitely help. “Yeah, Quidditch.” She said with a smile. “Thanks.” Jamie added. “I’ve kind of been dreaming of this moment for, like, a year, so…” She trailed off, a dreamy smile on her face. It was great to have your dreams come true.

Jamie reached over to squeeze his hand as he agreed with her, and he nodded at her gratefully. Jamie asked about Susan then, and Will smiled, but then rolled his eyes, a little. "It's hard to accept that fact that she's all grown up now," he admitted, "she's working at the ministry, at the... magical creatures control," he explained, taking a moment to remember the name of what her job was. As Will said he would pay, Jamie made sure he agreed that it wasn't a romantic date. He chuckled and nodded, "trust me, I pay for most people and I'm not romantic with them," he paused, his brow furrowing, "that sounded really pretentious, didn't it?" he chuckled a little, shaking his head at himself. He had a lot of money, he knew that. Whether muggle or magical, there were easy ways to make the exchanges so it wasn't like he was wanting for anything monetary. He just liked to be the one to pay for his friends and whoever when going on. She spoke about quidditch, thanking him and saying she had been dreaming of it for a year and his smile grew. "You deserve it. I'd love to come see your firs tgame," he said, "I'm going to actual have to start following Quidditch now."@jamie

Will smiled at her question about Susan, and Jamie knew that she had hit a conversation gold mine. Family was always a good conversation topic, even if it could get awkward sometimes. “I’m sure that I’ll feel the same way when Max graduates.” Jamie commiserated. She was also certain that her older siblings had felt somewhat the same way when she had received her diploma, even though they hadn’t spent as much time as a family as Susan and Will had. Odette and Aaron hadn’t actually watched her grow up, so seeing her graduate wasn’t as much of a shock to the system as it must have been for Will. He said that Susan was a part of the Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures (well, he didn’t say the full name, but Jamie knew which one it was) and the Hufflepuff pulled a face. “She’s in charge of me now.” She said, explaining her weird face. That was the department that had the werewolf registry in it.
Jamie just snorted when Will said that he paid for most people, and he wasn’t romantic with any of them. “It’s a tad pretentious.” She agreed, not wanting to lie to Will. “But I understand it. When I’m rich and famous someday, I’ll have to start paying for your lunches.” She teased. Will had a lot of money at his disposal, but soon Jamie wouldn’t be hurting for Galleons either, which would be interesting after the past year.
“You don’t have to start following Quidditch because of me.” Jamie said with a laugh. “But I have complementary tickets for my games, so I’d be happy to give you one.” Jamie was sure that she’d run into other people who wanted to see one of her games – Liona and her siblings most notably – but she didn’t see a problem in offering Will a ticket, too.

Will nodded as Jamie said she would probably feel the same as he was now when her sister graduated. Will would feel it all over again with Ed, then Lucy. It was weird enough now but Lucy... that made his head spin. When Jamie said Susan was 'in charge' of her, Will's face contorted with confusion until he realized what she meant. "Nah, just your records," he said, stating the obvious. It was a strange thought still, though, since Jamie had worded it in that way. She agreed that his comment was pretentious and he chuckled, glad that she was as honest as ever. She said that she would start paying when she was 'rich and famous' and he shrugged, "I look forward to it, we can take turns," he suggested. No matter what capacity their relationship was in, he was quite sure they would be doing this more often now that she was graduated. At least, that was the hope. She said that he didn't have to follow Quidditch, but that she had a ticket he could have. "I would love to accept one for a game," he meant singular, he could buy tickets for other games himself. He was sure that was what she meant, too. "When does the season start?"@jamie

Jamie smiled a little when Will said that Susan wasn’t in charge of her, just her records. Sometimes she felt like she put on blinders when it came to werewolf issues, so it was nice to have someone who would remind her of the bigger picture of things. “I wonder if I could find more of my half-siblings using the registry.” Jamie said pensively. She had been bitten by her father, and who was to say that she was the only one of her half-siblings that Fenrir had tracked down? It would be a violation of privacy, though, and Jamie didn’t want to find her siblings using underhanded means. She was just fine discovering them organically.
“Be careful, William.” Jamie said with a teasing smile. “You’re agreeing to having multiple more meals with me.” He had, after all, suggested alternating paying, which indicated they would go on at least two more excursions together. Jamie was gladded that just talking to Will like this was still easy. She had been sort of worried that they were the kind of people who could only exist as lovers, not as friends, but this meal was making it clear that being with Will was easy no matter what label they put on their relationship – and Jamie wasn’t sure she was a fan of labels at all.
Will said that he’d accept one ticket, and Jamie beamed at him, glad to be sharing that important part of her life with him. “It starts in June. I’m not sure when I start playing.” Jamie said. Everything was still being figured out, which was a little scary, but Jamie was looking forward to starting her career.

Using the registry was a smart idea, if that was even allowed. Will was sure that finding family would be a good reason, right? Plus, was the registry free for the public to access? Why have one if it wasn't? "As much as I'm sure some of them would love contact... you have no way of knowing which ones wouldn't be happy about it. And which ones aren't safe," he commented, giving his two cents on the matter. She told him to be careful about agreeing to have multiple more meals with her and he smirked, leaning forward slightly, "well, unless you're not willing, I'm planning on having many more meals with you, Jamie Greyback," he teased back. It was so good to talk to her, face to face. She was as beautiful as ever, maybe somehow more so now that he was seeing her in such an... well, an adult setting. She said the season started in June, but she wasn't sure when she would start playing. "Great! I can clear my schedule pretty easily... maybe one later in the season would be better for me, though," he admitted. @jamie
